Two-Part Review - Sales & Service This is a two-part review based on my experience purchasing a 2021 TRD Pro in June 2024 and my ongoing service experience. Sales Experience (4/5) When I came in, I knew exactly what I wanted. The truck had only been on the lot for about a day, and I came prepared with a significant amount down. I thought that might help with negotiating, but eagerness + a rare model doesn't exactly create leverage. Lesson learned. Financing and management were solid. The salesperson was newer and didn't know much about the truck, so I ended up educating him a bit. No hard feelings -- everyone starts somewhere -- but as most people know, buying a vehicle isn't usually anyone's favorite process. Overall, I'd call sales a 4 out of 5. Service Experience (5/5) This is where they've really earned my business. I purchased the prepaid service package and have been consistently impressed. I'm now around 70,000 miles. They've made recommendations when appropriate but have never pushed unnecessary upsells. Oil changes are typically done in about 30 minutes, communication is strong, and they even send technician walk-through videos explaining what they're seeing. One visit stood out -- after an oil change, I had barely left when they called to say they noticed a small amount of oil where my truck had been parked and wanted to double-check everything. I turned around immediately. It ended up being minor residual oil from service, but the fact that they were proactive enough to call before I even made it home said a lot. Most recently, Hunter in service was excellent -- clear communication, honest discussion about what needed to be done now versus later, and he even honored most of a prior 15% service promotion after checking with management. And a huge shoutout to Larry, one of their senior technicians. I mentioned a small bumper issue while the truck was on the lift. He set expectations properly and said he didn't want to risk causing more damage. When I came back to pick it up, they had fixed it anyway -- no extra charge. That's under-promise and over-deliver. Sales was solid. Service has been exceptional. I'm currently considering purchasing a second vehicle -- possibly a BMW M4 or Z4 with the inline-six platform shared with the Toyota Supra. Living in Fargo, we don't have a BMW dealership locally, so service matters. The fact that I'm seriously considering a $50,000 used vehicle partly because I trust this service team to potentially help support it says everything. Had a new Tacoma shipped to the store, somehow I paid over MSRP for a 25' in 26'. $1000 nonrefundable deposit and they left many details out about how stripped down the truck was. SR5 with winter package upgrade and somehow no floor mats, no mud flaps and the one I built on line had the side tube steps and was $2k less for a 26'... I feel like fool! read more

Beware of the service department. Went in for one issue and all of a sudden there were many issues--including needing a new alternator. When they found out the "broken" alternator was still under warranty it was all of a sudden not the issue. The whole experience felt like a scam. I'd give zero stars if I could. read more

I recently purchased a 2026 Prius. Beware, they put a $395 addon after I had agreed upon a price. They knew we were in a hurry the day we had to pick up and I feel they took advantage of that. We were originally told they would refund the cost of the addon. After not seeing a check in the mail, I continued to try to reach them for comment. They finally got back to me today to tell me I have to drive ~4 hours on way to have the addon removed, if I want the credit. They must be crazy to think I am going to drive 7-8 hours. How many people have a day to give to these yahoos? read more

I AM CURRENTLY LEASING A 2024 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT IS ON ITS WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WON'T START: I have leased four vehicles from Corwin: a 2015 Corolla LE, a 2018 Corolla SE, a 2021 Camry SE, and a 2024 Camry Hybrid SE. However, I had multiple negative experiences with the company, which led me to leave unfavorable reviews. Unfortunately, I was offered a lower car payment in exchange for altering my review, which I agreed to as a college student. I was assured that the company would work to improve their services. During my interactions with Corwin, I received multiple calls and text messages from salespeople asking me to purchase a vehicle, while I was in a lease agreement, some just after I signed a lease agreement. It seemed like the salespeople were more concerned with their sales figures and becoming salesperson of the month, rather than prioritizing the needs of the customers. During my latest lease, I encountered numerous issues that added to my frustration. Due to the busiest season for my e-commerce online store, I switched my lease out early to avoid additional stress. However, I unknowingly made a car payment that was used to pay towards the old lease payoff, resulting in me paying two car payments in one month. Despite speaking to two financial business managers, one of whom did not even work for Toyota, and the other proving unreliable, my issue remained unresolved. To compound my difficulties, my car failed to start after only three months of ownership. When I shared my frustration with my longtime car salesman, Moe, he "liked" the text message I sent stating that "I will never buy a car from you again." Currently, my car is being towed to Corwin, and the root of the issue is unknown. In contrast, my previous three leases yielded no issues. Furthermore, I did not receive my license plates and had to drive with expired temporary papers for two months, despite notifying Corwin of the situation. And again, my trusted salesman, Moe, did not see to it that my issues were resolved as in previous leases. As a loyal and conscientious customer who has always met my payment obligations and returned my cars in new condition with half the miles allotted, I am troubled by these circumstances. My experience raises concerns about whether other reviews have been altered for compensation. I hold negative reviews in higher regard than positive ones. While Corwin may have purchased my review once, they will not do so again. read more

Total liars at this place. We looked at a vehicle here and asked if the car had been in any accidents. Their response was "it has a clean title". Well it had been in a significant accident. There are a lot of people that don't know how titles and accidents reports work and this place will take full advantage of you as much as they can. I've been trying to cancel several contracts that I accidentally signed when I bought my car after being told that I wasn't signing for any additional contracts. I call them they say they'll get back to me and they never do. I email them and they ignore me. Finally they reimburse me, but only partially because they say a year has passed since I bought the car. Even though I cancelled the contracts within a month and have the paperwork to prove it. Now they are attempting to say the contract cancellation form I signed over a year ago isn't valid because they needed an odometer reading (which I sent them and they lost). Legalized theft. Buy a car somewhere else. read more

From getting my brand new 2023 4 Runner with a scrap from the loading truck on my windshield and an acid burnt spot into the paint from either rain or birds, to a scrap to the inside floor trim after the Drone was installed because someone did not watch wear his tools were on his belt then finally to a poor buff job after the "Multishield" coating was applied. When any car is sold inspect Your vehicles, Be honest and truthful. This is why companies have insurance, right. Give the customer the "Out the Door Price Period." Hey come in anyway will make it right!" You can guess what happened next, will if you could finance a little we can get you into a Ford F150 that's 20k more! 19 minutes ago NEW I purchased a vehicle from this location and paid cash. The vehicle was to be transported to me six hours South. It arrived with no title (because the salesman said the cashier's check has to clear first lol), keys that only work when both sets are in the car, a lock on the top speed of the vehicle and the stereo volume, crusted old glue holding seams together in the line of sight, and duct tape holding the back quarter panel on because according to the salesman that is the only "correct way to fix it." Wow! It's been two weeks and I have no car title, the salesman said they mailed it regular mail, signed over :-o with no tracking #. I'm driving a car with no registration and no title. Also, he said he had no idea a cashier's check was like cash, he didn't know anything about the keys, and he was concerned with our safety when he drove it and didn't notice the half-baked fix holding the roof on. When asked how he knew so little about the car and getting the title to us he claimed he "just passes along information and doesn't really know how it works." I'll now hire an attorney, which I will be reimbursed for by Corwin since the documents state I will have a clear title at the time of sale/payment, and will also have this dealership reimburse me for other financial damages I have incurred so the vehicle is drivable. I'm tired of the finger pointing and blame games. Every bbb.org complaint against this company - please check it out - has a response unaccepted by the complainant because they are merely blamed by the manager in the reply with no resolution or desire to make them a satisfied customer. Note: Before purchasing or leasing a car, please do yourself a favor and research it. DO NOT LISTEN to the seller or finance personnel. They will do you wrong. At the time I didn't know anything about leasing, so I went ahead and trusted the sales and financial person (first mistake). I have told them my reasoning for buying - this vehicle will be used for work and long travels which would put me over 45K miles in 3 years. They said that the leasing option is the best route to take, disregarding my use for the car. I ended up paying $351/mo w/ .001 apr = aprox. $12,366.00 (for a Toyota Yaris IA). I know, bad deal (second mistake). I went way over the miles in the contract, and end up purchasing the vehicle at the end of the lease, since it is the best way now. I ended up paying taxes/fees/etc. to refinance the vehicle. All to about $11,738 + $1200 down payment. That's a lot of money I've just lost to the dealership (third mistake). They know how to play their games. I definitely learned from my mistakes - research before leasing or purchasing the vehicle. Bottom line is, please don't make the same mistakes as I did! Made an appointment online a week in advance. Wanted the 60k maintenance program as they suggested on their website and a tire rotation as well as an oil change. Get to the dealership and they can't find my appointment. Right off the bat the service advisor is trying to up sell me into transmission service and awd differential service. After an hour in the shop my vehicle is done. All they did was change the oil and filter and check and top off the fluids. Didn't even rotate my tires. I'll be taking my Toyota service to another dealer or repair shop. read more

Dear Corwin Toyota/Dodge/Honda . Toyota, a wonderful brand, I am a proud owner of a Toyota tacoma. I want to bring attention to the amazing staff. When I enter I get a warm sense of family, not only because friends and family of mine work there, but because I feel they are a close and loving family (Corwin puts the core in family). These individuals love to tell me how they are working hard, making coin, and love what they do. Although there is a problem within this great work environment that I feel as a company, Corwin should address. (There is a staff member named (Amber) that always makes my visit unpleasant. Not to me but to her employees. It is somewhat sickening to see how she treats her hard working employees. I feel it is a form of jealousy steering her decisions. Employees loved by costumers and other employees to her are seen as a threat. She seems to be a sad, lonely, two pack of Mac and cheese type of woman. It saddens me to see Corwin putting a woman (Amber) like that in a position of power to tear the company apart with her inner problems. Corwin please address this problem when you see fit, I hope it is resolved before more valuable customers like me leave feeling like I chose the wrong company to do business with. Thanks. After purchasing a used 8K vehicle almost immediately after driving it off the lot the check engine light came on. Corwin would not work with us to even run a diagnostic to determine what the problem was. Once a sale is made do not expect any help or service from Corwin. They have the money and that is all they are after. read more

The customer service from Corwin Toyota is absolutely amazing! The service department was very professional and explained everything very clearly for me to understand. It seems like all the advisors love there job and make it a priority to make sure you have the least amount of problems possible. I bought a used 2011 Honda Odyssey at Corwin Toyota. The tires were bare (see photo below). They refused to replace the tires as part of the deal. Honestly probably shouldn't have even been on the lot yet in that condition. A dealership ought to ensure a car can be safely driven off the lot before selling a car, even if it's used. Guess this wasn't a part of their 50-point inspection. Neither were the cv boots and axle. A third party mechanic said they would need to be replaced. When told exactly where to look, the dealership agreed. If it wasn't covered under the Honda power train warranty, the deal would have fallen through and they would have sold the car to some poor chump who had no idea. The people were nice, but the business was out to lunch. A dealership shouldn't be run like a lemon lot. read more

In January, 2022, we purchased a vehicle from Corwin. We paid extra for an extended warranty. The day after we drove it home, it would not start. When I called to report this, they told me it wasn't the battery (without even being there to see if that was true). When I jumped it and got it running, I drove it straight to them. They had it for 36 hours, then called to tell me it was running and nothing was wrong with it. I asked what they'd fixed, the service man told me nothing was wrong so they didn't fix anything. Remember, they had it for 36 hours!!!! A few months later, the AC was out. I took it in and they assessed it, recharged it, fixed a 3 other things that maxed out my warranty deductible so on that visit, I paid $850. THREE DAYS LATER, the AC was out again. I brought it back, they reassessed and decided there were bad valves that they hadn't noticed before (THREE days prior) and I had to argue that I would not pay for them to recharge it again. Even after I pointed out that I maxed out my warranty deductible three days earlier, they still made me pay even more for the valve replacement. The AC went out one month later. This time, I brought it in and they didn't even assess it until the next day. Then decided it was the condenser. They reported they wouldn't be able to get a new part until evening and so I'd have to wait until the third day to get my car back. But at least, I was assured that everything would be covered under my warranty with no deductible. I waited through the entire next day and didn't hear any updates. On the fourth day, I called and asked for a progress report. They said it would be done that day. Then I received a text 20 minutes before they close asking if I could get there by 6:00 or if I'd like to wait until the NEXT day. I said I'd be right there. When I showed up, they tried to charge me ANOTHER $900. I reminded them they said it'd be covered under warranty and William refused to accept that. He insisted we'd have to pay the full price. I will never, ever buy a car from Corwin again. I will never again get a car "fixed" at Corwin. And I will be telling everyone I know or hear thinking about buying a car to NEVER EVER go to Corwin read more

Just took in a car for maintenance. Oil change went fine, car inspection went fine. Asked to have the cabin air filter changed. Fine. I was told the car was finished and my bill was ready. So I pay and go out to the car. Their still working on it. I wait about 5 min, finally the desk agent come out and tells me. They can't get the cabin air filter. They have met their credit limit at the parts warehouse. WTF? I finally got the filter on the third return trip. Do they have that poor of credit limits at area businesses that they can't be spotted a filter? I have done auto business all over Fargo and not one business has ever said "wait, we can't finish the job, cause we don't pay our debts". This does not build any confidence in dealing with them. read more

My wife and I were doing some searching for a new car. We searched for several months and happened by Corwin. They had a car on the lot that caught my wife's eye. We went inside and were met by the front staff. We expressed interest in the vehicle and they handed us the keys and said take it around for a drive. They were not pushy and did not come along. When we returned we explained we were preparing to pay off a Volkswagen lease early and we wanted to buy not lease. In the end they ended up buying out the lease for us and we bought the other car. The whole process took about three weeks before we made a deal but in the end we were able to walk away with a great experience. Corwin is also offering a pretty ice incentive where they will pay for two years of servicing or something like that for $199. It basically pays for oil changes for two years. We worked with Tyler Hinger. He was a great guy and really took his time helping us out. I highly recommend setting up a meeting with him! read more

Took my car in for a warranty repair and experienced the worst possible customer service I have ever had. I was left without a vehicle for two weeks without any updates or communication from the service team. I left multiple voicemails and never got a returned call. It got to the point that I had to call and ask just to be put on hold so I could speak with the employee handling my service. I finally received a loaner vehicle and was told my truck would be done within the following week and it continued to get delayed for another two weeks. I will not ever take my vehicle back here for service and would advise anyone else to steer clear of Corwin Boulder Toyota. read more

I am an inexperienced car buyer. The last day of June 2020 I felt pushed into a car I didn't want while my trade in keys were no longer in my possession. It felt as though because I was in the position to buy a car at any time that the team there longed very much for it to be that day with them. I eventually gave into the pressure. I could not unwind the deal the next day. The sales manager that pushed the deal quit within the week and the GM was on vacation then was fired. I unwound the deal myself by selling the car back at trade in value and buying my original trade in back at sticker price at great overall cost to myself. Taking on all costs and preserving the company's profit margin. I understand any response to this review by the owner or the corwin team will appear even handed and reasonable to prospective car buyers. There appeared to be kind and reasonable salespeople there. The new GM Curtis and internet sales manager Justin were both very kind and empathetic. Not at all dismissive. But ultimately it is a situation where everyone is powerless and unwilling and you will not get any of your hard earned money back. Do not make the same mistake. You will not be able to back out or renegotiate and keep looking for the car that meets your needs once you sign. There is no right of rescission on vehicles. Cooling off period. If it's not the deal and the car for you and your salesperson isn't hearing you on this then attempts to turn you over to his sales manager... Immediately demand your keys back if they have them and run if you have to. Call a friend to help you. Run and do not return to that dealership. If you sign you will be powerless. They are pushing for you to take sole responsibility of what is a liability for them the longer it is on their lot. When you purchase and take on that Responsibility it should at least be at your own pace and on a car you want. Do all your research before setting foot on the lot. Understand what a four square method is in car sales. Know the car you want before even arriving. My salesperson was Marquay and his sales manager was Tyler. read more

Unethical and shady business practices. Avoid! I'm fairly certain at least some of the positive reviews posted here are the result of purchased/false reviews from a review farm, because there's no way this place deserves four stars. My son was a first time vehicle buyer and he agreed to purchase a vehicle in Jan for $41k. When he called to inquire on a delivery date, the salesman, Belal, told him the vehicle he ordered and put a down payment was not going to be available but that they would sell him a different car for the same price. When I looked up the new vehicle, it was a significant step down in model and they were demanding we pay $6k over MSRP, which was not what we had agreed to. They saw an easy mark in a first time car buyer and pulled a total bait and switch on him. When I called and asked why they had switched on him, Belal, and his boss, Mo Omar, both laughed and said maybe I shouldn't let my son have a credit card because they were still going to charge me $500.00 for a car we never ordered. If cars are so easy to sell that you can get $6000 over MSRP, then why do you need to gouge someone $500 when you lie about the price? What a scam. Hope you enjoy my $500.00. read more

Please beware of this dealership. They lack integrity and truthfulness in the buying, and I would suspect in the selling process. Yesterday after four months of searching for a used vehicle, I found one in the Corwin Toyota store working with John Perrin. I was made aware that the vehicle was available for sale, so I started my journey from St. Paul Minnesota to Fargo 4 hours one way within 500 yards of the dealership I got a call to tell me that the vehicle was sold. John asked me to please come to dealership because they could make this right unfortunately, at that point I was 500 yards from my arrival. JOHN explained to me that some other sales person had stolen the keys from his desk. This obviously was not the truth, and John proceeded to attempt to get me to buy a vehicle that was $20,000 more than the original vehicle that I looked at. And said if I just financed a little bit which is a classic bait and switch again, I have called Toyota services to let them know a regional manager should be getting back to me relatively soon. So this kind of bait and switch tactic has been obvious in other reviews of Corwin Toyota in Fargo North Dakota, and leads me to believe that they have absolutely no integrity. So after eight hours of driving in traffic, both ways , Corwin, Toyota and John did not have the ability or thought that it was easy enough to convince a customer to come into the dealership and the vehicle may not have ever been there so be very careful do not deal with them unless it's your only other choice. My next calls will be to the state Attny and BBB, and auto dealers association! read more

Worse customer service ever. I made an appointment to have my 10,000 mile service done (brand new vehicle) and at that time requested a loaner and/or rental vehicle as I was coming in from out of town and had other appointments and errands. I was assured a loaner would be available just remind the service counter when I arrived, but was also told it would only take an hour if I wanted to wait. I arrived thirty minutes before my scheduled appointment and waited to be checked for well over 45 minutes. I finally had to flag a person down. The service manager was nonchalant and non-apologetic. Then I was told they only had eight loaner vehicles and they were all out but they could put me on a transport van. By then I was already upset. I was told the van would pick me up in 30 minutes and drop me off at my next appointment and I was to call and they'd pick me up. (Probably wait another 30 minutes to be picked up). My intention was to not spend all day waiting for my vehicle or to be in Fargo all day. I asked how long it would be before my vehicle would be ready and was told well over two hours. so I was lied to when making the appointment. The service manager acted like he didn't care. I ended up leaving Corwin Toyota without my service being done. No apology, no how can we right our screwup, just poor customer service. I called another Toyota dealer who was able to get me in the next day. So I scheduled an appointment with Quality Toyota (Fergus Falls) and know I'll get the service done. We are a Toyota family, and I can tell you we will NEVER go to Corwin again. read more

Salesman gave me a canned speech about the price of their vehicles being firm and that they don't dicker. Then only offered me $500 for my trade that was KBB valued at $2k+ and had, in the prior 9 months, any leaking seals and gaskets replaced, new brakes, new tires, new transmission and new battery! It had minor rust and a few dings but overall was in great shape! They insisted they weren't going to be able to sell it with visible rust and that was the most they could offer. That same night they posted it on their website for $5200 and it sold in less than a week. They could have easily accepted my ask and had a loyal, happy customer. They chose to screw me instead. Bought my son an Avalon via third party and took it to Corwin Toyota to have an issue with no heat checked out. The appointment was scheduled days in advance at 11am while he was home from college with the car. After hearing nothing all day, I called a little before 5 and left a message for my service advisor Andy. Per Andy, the tech was just starting to look at the car that had been there for six hours. To make a very long story short, the car was at the dealership waiting for parts for a week and we had to go pick it up, still with no heat, because my son had to get back to school and work. The service tech did not bother to change the filters I'd approved to be replaced and they had torn everything out of the glove box and not put it back. The "customer experience manager" refuses to call me and Toyota corporate doesn't seem to care either. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB tomorrow. read more

I called on a Friday to set up an appointment on Saturday for my scheduled maintenance. The appointment was at 1pm on Saturday, I got there 15 minutes early, checked my car in, only to be told it would be about 1 hour before its done.....why did I waste my time making the appointment. Also, at that time I asked them to change the battery for keyless entry, they did that. Now, it doesn't work. Poor....poor......poor customer service. read more

My husband and I just went to Corwin Toyota twice. Reps are very friendly and very detailed with car description, benefits, etc. However, our last experience was so so. We found a few vehicles we liked the first vehicle. After test driving it I really liked the safety features the car had. Later my husband went to the restroom and the reps gave me some paperwork to sign which I thought was a loan but signed a lease instead which was way out of our budget line. My husband ran over and mentioned that we only wanted to look at prices not buy a vehicle. The reps started pleading on how and what they could do to keep us as customers. Corwin says that their all about family values and when I bought my Honda Pilot 2016 in the same month the a/c broke and I even bought a extended guarantee for six years and I brought it in and they said that the Compressor was the problem so we waited 4hr and 35 min and they said they couldn't find the problem then the next time they said we would have to pay 250 but we payed for a guarantee so if something broke they could fix it but we have to pay for something that wasn't even a coustumers fault I wouldn't recommend buying a car here read more

If I could give zero stars, I would! I made the mistake of purchasing a Clearcoat protectant for my vehicle. There was not time to install the protectant the day of purchase, so I was promised they'd put it on and fill my gas tank (it is almost 200 miles away for me) at an appointed time. I arrived at this appointed time, left my vehicle for several hours, when I returned it was still dirty so obviously the protectant hadn't been placed nor my gas tank filled as promised. The service guy brushed it off and said they'd do it next time. Calls to the dealership have gone unreturned and when I asked for my $1000 back, they said this service is noncancellable and now won't return my calls.
