I have been living here for 20 years and every time I go into Cos Bar everyone is so rude and dismissive. It's incredible that you can't manage to get motivated , friendly , professionals . I completely understand that the tourists can be demanding and rude and that gets exhausting however we are a resort town and service should be your #1 priority ! I walk in with a smile on my face into this store having such a great day. I had run out of mascara and went to ask somebody if they have a brand I liked. "Excuse me, do you have any Lancôme or Chanel mascara?" He turns to me with a serious face with a serious "no" and then goes on ignoring me. I would buy a different brand of mascara maybe even Chanel even though it is expensive if they had been nice, yet I walked out with a frown on my face and no makeup because you don't buy or support rudeness. We had a great experience at the Cos Bar! Laura was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable, and helped us both select several new fragrances that are just perfect. This was our first time back in Aspen since early March before CoVid and we were a little hesitant, but everyone was very responsible about proper mask use and social distancing, as well as sanitation, while still maintaining a welcoming environment. read more

I can't remember the consultants name but she was great and had an English accent (I think) and her lips were done perfectly and she did my lips perfectly (ed) I learned that this Cosbar location is the original store! Ok selection of semi-high end cosmetics but the service was awful. One gal helped me but it felt like she was following me around the store. and then when I finally went to pay, someone who looked like she was more important than the rest of the employees, completely ignored me. Not even a "she'll be right with you" or a "hello". Also- they won't help you with a color/product unless you make an appointment and buy three things. Won't even match a foundation. I get it that they don't want 15 year olds getting their makeup done and leaving without so much as a thank you, but won't match a foundation color without and appointment? I would have bought it. As far as makeup bars go (which they are few and far between) this one was nothing special as far as product goes. The few "rare" lines had nothing to offer that would validate the price or exclusivity. As a makeup artist, I usually get along very well with everyone involved with cosmetics. However, I've never seen such a group of pretentious staff in my life! I'm sure this is what Aspen locals complain about. The place was clean looking but no style whatsoever. You'd think for the creativity of a makeup bar they would try to wow you when you came in. I only felt judged. Go to the Cosbar if you want to play yuppie for a day. I agree with Rachel and Mollee. The staff in this store is rude, disinterested and over the top pretentious. I stood in the middle of the store for a full ten minutes with no acknowledgment whatsoever. There was a woman in the store who had three of the staff fawning over her and was making such a production of herself that it all bordered on a parody of Aspen. I walked out and no one said a word to me, even though they knew I was there and saw me leaving. I went back in about a half hour later (I really needed what I was looking for) and with a terrible attitude the girl working informed me that they were doing inventory so they were out of a lot of things. She made no other suggestions or offer of help. This town needs a Sephora. I will never go into Cos Bar again, not in Aspen or Minneapoalis. read more

I had no idea CosBar offered spa treatments. Having recently moved to Aspen I had been underwhelmed by many of the hotel spas. I just finished the most amazing 90 minute facial. Well? Since all of the reviews are over 1 year old let's give an update of the Cos Bar in Aspen. My wife has shopped here for a few years and has been pretty satisfied overall (purchased over $500 worth of cosmetics for a wedding in one visit not too long ago) . However, on her most recent trip there was no offers to assist her in helping to find what she needed. 1 lady on the floor who was chatting with a potential customer and then 2 ladies in the back of the shop (working on the latest email that I deleted?) sitting on laptops talking amongst themselves with no recognition of us being in the store. The product my wife came for was behind the counter so I proceeded to go back and grab it for her. We waited at the register to checkout and still, no acknowledgment or words from anyone. We were ready to pay, we just wanted to give them money and leave. No can do- after a few minutes we gave up and left the store- for good. Maybe it was slacker day at the shop? Regardless, highly unprofessional, frustrating and left a stain on our previous good experiences. Hope they can get back to good again. Meanwhile, Ultra Beauty in Glenwood Springs will be getting our business. read more

One of my favorite things to do is go shopping for makeup. I am a kid in a candy store. I would have given Cos Bar a full 5 stars if it were not for the snobby beeatches behind the counter. Vanessa is absolutely amazing! She is such a sweet girl! From the start communicating with her was a breeze. She did makeup for myself, my bridesmaids and my mom for my wedding day and everyone looked flawless! It was the perfect balance of not too much but not too little - just how I like it. The makeup looked amazing in pictures for my outdoor wedding at Maroon Bells and it lasted all night too. Stopped in the store to show the employees my make up brush was falling apart to no ones fault. I purchased the brush in December, they traded me a new one at no cost at all. That is an example of wonderful customer service. Greer and the team have always been super helpful at making sure clients are taken care of. I have never had a bad experience in this store. I agree that there are many places in Aspen with hard to find friendly and efficient employees but this place is not one of those locations. Thanks so much ladies! Contrary to popular opinions here on Yelp, the service we received at Cos Bar was wonderful thanks to Malle. Now while they have some boutique brands like Artis brushes and St. Tropez, I thought they were missing the opportunity to include even more unique brands like Louboutin Beauty or TheBalm or Wayne Goss, etc. I ended up purchasing a lovely pink blush by Clinique that was limited edition for breast cancer, which was nice. But for example, Clinique overall is not that great of a brand in my opinion so that's valuable store space being taken up. Overall, not a bad cosmetic/beauty/lifestyle shopping experience, just thought it could be better. read more

Cos Bar Aspen not only has a great location, but the people who help you are incredible. Eric is so knowledgeable and just has that eye for the perfect yet natural look. He saved my daughter when the airline broke her Temptuair (the airbrush applicator they sell which is the best). Eric not only overnighted a new 1 plus makeup to Florida, but also made sure it arrived before we had to leave the country for her Wedding. Unbelievable service! I agree this place is the worst! They carry a very high end product line without the technical expertise to sell the product. They have a pretentious, curt and rude staff. Worst service experience I have ever encountered in any store. It would not even get one star if I had that option. They do not know how to wear their makeup let alone how to apply it on a customer. They do not know the "unique" qualities of their brands which sometimes (often) differ from store to store. They cannot be bothered to check other store locations when, inevitably, they are out of stock. They are always RUDE. Some of their products sit on the shelf forever and are often even dusty. They do not stand behind their products, so, if there is an issue you can forget about customer service. Their staff wears their own makeup poorly so why would you want them to create a look for you? Better to shop online or at Sephora where the staffing is considerate and kind and happy to have your business. I have tried for years to subsidize a local business. I was intimidated to go in based on these reviews...but there were really no other options in Aspen and I HAD to get makeup because I forgot to pack mine. I mustered up the courage to go in and fully expected to be looked down on. So I was pleasantly surprised when I was greeted when I walked in. Then not only that, she helped me right away with finding a foundation for my skin tone and played with some of the makeup with me. I have been to Cos Bar on many occasions. It has a vast array of cosmetic products, which actually are astounding. The stock of the various and differential types of products is a lovely reflection of the care, devotion, and heart. I found the staff to be extremely helpful. In particular a woman named Greer helped me immensely on a recent occasion. I have had difficulties with skin cancers in the past and I really wanted to find a nice foundation that will help protect my skin but also moisturize as well. Not only was Greer able to find me the proper product for skin protection, also directed me to two other products that would help with Moisturization as well as overall providing a fine color to match my skin tone.
