Friends with kids in public schools in Sandy and WJ are always surprised how 'advanced' the curriculum is however my child doesn't seem to be aware she's 'advanced' since it's what all kids are doing at her school. Surprised by how many non-Catholic families attend but understand since this school provides a nurturing and healthy environment for all kids, those parents don't seem to mind the classes daily prayer and required school Mass their children attend every Wednesday. Loving, supportive and safe environment that provides a child an above public school education with focus on whole child, not just how to pass tests. What's not to love?

Playground is run down. Roaches and food poisoning and then get mad if your kid misses school over their nasty food/school. They will call cps if your kid is late. I…read moreoriginally enrolled him here because he was transitioning from Challenger School, which has insanely high academic standards, and Summit at the time ranked in the top 5% of Utah schools on test scores. Other campuses have opened now, and the test scores have grown closer to the state average. What's NOT average is the emotional health of the staff and culture there! I've been SO impressed with the quality of the teachers and their support and interest in helping the students succeed. No one is perfect, but wow, the staff and management here and also at the middle school are extremely approachable and really care. Statistically, they shouldn't all be amazing. They're a small school, which is both good and bad. The teacher student ratio is like 18:1, and they're incredible teachers. My son's English teacher last year is a PhD. adjunct professor at UVU and had topics he'd have the kids discuss every week to help them evaluate their values. I actually enjoyed hearing about his assignments every week. His science teacher was given the freedom to create a course of her choosing, so she chose Oceanography and is trying to arrange a SCUBA trip to Catalina Island for the students (disclaimer: not sure if that's approved!). They're just super focused on the kids. Obviously, they don't have the breadth of extracurricular options that large schools do, but when students or parents give feedback or participate, it's completely noticed and they make improvements right away! Staff and teachers know your student by name, and the students can pretty much join whatever sport or club they want to and rise to leadership if they choose. It's an emotionally healthy school in my opinion. I didn't choose it for that, but I've ended up being so grateful for it. I'm loving the adults my son is being influenced by.

Coming from a traditional public school, I love that my children are well looked after and the principal even knows their names. The teachers and staff listen to parents and students concerns which I found refreshing after my previous experiences. I also really love how it is a bit easier to get on sports teams, cheer, etc. The class sizes are smaller and they have an amazing IEP program. Mrs. Jeppson really advocates for her students and goes out of her way to contact colleges, tech programs to give her students the information they need to further their education after high school. This is not an uncommon experience at this school. They care about their students.

First of all, this school has horrible bullying management, because not only are the students bully's, the teachers are too. I got bullied, death threats, beat up more than I can count on, they said to resolve with a peace table. I have no problem with working with words and talking it out together it's a great strategy, but they need to lay down more serious boundaries. The teachers are also horrible my upper elementary teacher (not naming names if you know you know) would constantly talk down to us like we were babies, brag, talk about how she wished we were like her previous students, eves-drop, complain and yell so much yelling, me and many other students cried and begged to never go back because the school did nothing but send a email to the teacher to cause more yelling. The food is also revolting, I have gotten sick from it many times because they offer no dairy free options and I can't take my pill. Even aside from dairy issues, my friends who have zero stomach issues have gotten sick a number of times as well it got to a point where we all stopped eating lunch, there was always mold on the food they always said it was "seasoning" Look at the image below Another problem was the fact my TA didn't understand anything, she would use her phone openly scrolling through socials and texting and said it was a translation device. She also made us scrub the tables and floors after lunch and picked me up by the shoulders at one point and would scream and yell. It's clear they really care about the future leaders they are molding and they truly WANT to do the work they do. After transferring my daughter here, walking in the halls I heard children laughing for the first time in years. It brought me to tears. These students are genuinely happy at school. It's nothing short of miraculous. This is how school should be. Not the gladiator arena so many schools have become. Thank you. Thank you a thousand times over! Last year as I was a 6th grader kids were making fun of me and my teacher heard and didn't do anything which was in science class. Glad I made the final decision to have my child attend this elementary. The teachers are amazing as I have met and know them first hand and have witnessed them spending their time individually with each student as if it were their own child. I love that I am able to help out with any school activities as well for my own child's classroom. The PTA is awesome here! I love the "no-bully" rule at this elementary, it definitely helps with all children's behavior anywhere on campus. I love this school so much that I make sure to donate to the school, class room, events, etc. I enjoy knowing that they have plenty of supplies for all of the students, not just 1-10, lets share and make it 1-800.
