However, in less than two years the braces came off, and our daughter's smile was absolutely gorgeous! I expected that after braces her teeth would be better than before, but I didn't expect that her teeth would cause just about everyone she meets to comment on how beautiful they are. She is thrilled, and so are we. We also appreciated how convenient our appointments were. We could always get an appointment just before or after school, and we were in and out of the office in no time. Dr. Gau and her staff were wonderful, and truly we couldn't have been happier. I have friends that have taken their kids to the U. for their orthodontia, and paid less. Those friends continually say what a hassle it is, and how they need to take half a day off work and pull their kids out of school every time they have an appointment. I also have friends who have gone to other local providers who charge more, and I don't believe they got any more for their money than we did (except possibly a fancier office!). All have worked really well with kids, dispelling fears of what it will feel like while still being honest (the glue tastes really really bad). It is obvious they want their patients to feel comfortable and at ease. I like that while waiting they have a movie or show playing (as well as kid friendly shows while getting their braces work done). Additionally there is a coffee bar, water selections, and a snack. There is a game room too, with PAC Man, a hockey foosball table and a drawing board. I recommend this place to anyone in the area.

When I finished treatment and got my permanent retainer, I was verbally told that if I ever needed a replacement it would be a small fee. Two years later I called to get one replaced and was told the office doesn't keep the models or scans they used to make the retainer, so I'd have to pay $600 for them to take new scans and fabricate new ones. When I explained what I'd been told, the response was essentially "we have no record of that." Keeping the model would be easy; throwing it out and forcing patients to pay full price again feels like a deliberate business decision to squeeze more money out of people. If it's too difficult for them to keep the models, they should at least hand them to the patient or clearly disclose up front that losing a retainer means paying $600 to start over. It's especially disappointing after being a patient for so many years. I won't be returning.

We were able to get a morning visit, just before school started. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly and kind. The doctor we met with was very knowledgeable, and everything we needed to know was explained well. They said that we would wait for the new teeth to come in, and then start the work in his mouth so that we didn't put braces on twice. I appreciated that. They said that in about 9 months they would send out paperwork to begin the process. I felt they were very thorough, and we left knowing exactly how things would go.

My initial consultation revealed that I needed a root canal. Never having had one, I was nervous, but Dr Chad Nelson put me at ease by explaining the procedure and what to expect. We caught the issue just in time, and I was able to have an entirely pain-free procedure. Thanks to Chad's excellent work, I have also been pain free after the procedure, although I expected to be taking a lot of aspirin, I haven't had to pop a single pill. The entire staff here is friendly and helpful. They make a trip to the dentist very pleasant! They were able to book appointments in a couple days over the phone, where I had called other dental practices in the past who told me it was a two-month wait to get in.

They gave me a total due and I was surprised finding out I owed more money for my son two weeks after his appointment and then mentioned that mine wouldn't be covered fully either and sure enough I had another out of pocket after. It was like one shock after another. Although they mentioned most insurances cover it mine wasn't like most insurances. They waived my balance which was nice but I had to remind them they promised to waive it lol I went into another dentist who said that nether me nor my son have any areas of concern unlike this place. This dentist is not what I'd consider conservative and doesn't give a full disclosure of what's happening along with cost.

I see some unfair reviews here that as a hygienist who does NOT work here I'd like to add…read moreperspective to. The first is about insurance. Across the board in dentistry every single estimate is just that; an estimate. It doesn't matter where you go, NO ONE can give you a down to the cent or even nearest dollar cost. Insurance is just simply far more complicated than that. Even if you get a pre-determination (which actually just delays treatment) and the insurance company "says" they will cover it an at x amount, when the rubber meets the road and the treatment is completed, they can and DO, still deny coverage or alter the code they have decided to pay for, not the codes submitted. Isn't that grand? And then you're mad at who? The office. Additionally I see complaints about not working late past 5 or on Saturdays. I hate to break it to you but almost no one in dentistry does that. I personally would absolutely never. We are not robots, we are people too with families and lives. This job is incredibly taxing both mentally, physically and emotionally. Working long hours and weekends accelerates burnout which leads to providers quitting and not being able to be replaced which leads to more cancelled appointments. Guess who else can't get appointments scheduled without taking off of work? Especially if we are required to work Fridays. US! I have filled in at this office to help alleviate the pain of being down a provider and have found nothing but a kind, compassionate team that offers up to date, evidence based care vs watchidontistry I've witnessed in may other places. Just because one dentist recommends acting on something and another doesn't does not mean that the one who did is pulling something over on you or is not conservative. In fact, it could mean the other person is overly conservative and prefers to wait until the problem is MUCH larger to act. It's important to find a providers whose philosophy you align with. Do you prefer to be proactive or reactive? This is what you need to ask yourself first and then find the provider that agrees with you. Of course we all love the person that tells us we don't have to do anything because who WANTS dentistry? That doesn't mean it's what's best. Just a little insight into the behind the curtains from a person with no skin in the game.
