I was nervous about taking my 3 year old to the dentist for the first time (who isn't?), and came here on a friend's recommendation. What an absolutely warm, welcoming, and lovely experience! The dental hygienist took time to sit down and walk us through everything, engage with my son, and really follow his lead during the cleaning. Dr. Carmen was so kind and great! My five year old son is autistic and usually hates the dentist, but this place is great with him! Trips to the dentist are relatively smooth compared to what they used to be like. I highly recommend Saint Paul Pediatric Dentistry for all children but especially for autistic/special needs children. My nine year old daughter also loves it here. It's a beautiful office with an under the sea type theme. Everyone here is amazing with my kids and they are kind and considerate with us as worry wort parents too! read more

I really wanted to like this place but two visits in and I'm noticing how dishonest and inconsistent this place is. They say one thing but do the other. It took me over one month to get back a refund owed to me. Initially I was charged for a fluoride treatment for my son and was told by one of the staff (I think it was Cindy or Julie) that this was a precaution because they didn't know if my insurance would cover it. I told them it was covered but was charged anyways. I'm not sure why they just didn't call my insurance to check? I guess that was just too logical for them. The staff then told told me that they would call me and refund my money as soon as the insurance verified it would be paid and they received payment. My insurance paid them early February but I was still unable to get the refund until this week. Also, their website says they prefer 24 hour advance notice to cancel appointments but I was told 48 hour notice required or I would be charged $50. This doesn't make sense when you're working with kids and we all know how kids can get sick or that emergencies happen. And yes, I have an email to prove this as well. So all in all, I would avoid this place if you value a business that just doesn't focus on their profits or even a business that actually does what they say they will do. I will be seeking a new pediatric dentist place for my son and I will be encouraging my family and friends to do the same. read more

We have been seeing Dr. Julie for 7 years now and take all our 3 boys here. We all love Dr. Julie and her team! They really are gentle, patient, loving, friendly and very knowledgeable! We made the mistake of not taking our first born to a pediatric dentistry. He was so traumatized afterwards, but we found Dr. Julie and within 2 years of seeing her all his fears were gone and he was no longer afraid of going to the dentist! I have reccomend Dr. Julie to my friends and they all love going to her as well! We are so thankful we found Dr. Julie! read more

Numerous scheduling errors. Was misled to believe they could do work for my toddler. Brought him in and after waiting an hour after my scheduled time finally saw the dentist which told me they couldn't do the work for another 3 weeks. I was not pleased. I kept everything professional and courteous even despite being noticeably angry. I was told that because I don't seem trusting enough to go to another clinic. Appalling read more

After being treated with such disrespect and being completely embarrassed by the staff in the waiting room in front of other patients, I have never returned to this clinic. They told me they did not accept "Medical Assistance" even though my daughter had been seen there multiple times before. They actually told me I needed to leave until I got my insurance card...which I had already given them. Then I get a nasty letter in the mail saying that because I have not contacted them they are "inactivating" my daughter from their clinic. Good riddance! read more

The White Bear Ave office isn't a great location - busy street, old building that is shared with other businesses and the dentist office is in the basement. The receptionist team is very friendly and welcoming. On my sons first visit, they put his name up on the white board and he really thought that was cool. Overall, I didn't have a strong opinion one way or the other about the dentist before. They prefer you not to be in the exam room when your child is with the dentist, likely due to space limitations (2 exams occur in the same room at the same time). However my son did go in to have his first cavity filled. He was really scared and cried through most of the procedure. They asked me into the room to help calm him down, and the dentist was clearly frustrated. I can imagine it's tough to dig inside kids mouths while they are crying, but her tone was loud and harsh, and she was right in his face doing the procedure, so I don't feel that was necessary. She also snapped at her dental assistant for the tools she needed. When she had finished, she was visibly irritated, and quickly gave me follow up info before leaving. The assistant congratulated my son on being brave and cheered him up. I expect a professional dentist who specializes in pediatrics to have patience and empathy with scared little kids. Control your irritation, or at least learn to hide it. read more

Parents: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE!!! This dentist office has no business calling themselves a pediatric dental office. My son had a horrible experience here. We left halfway through the appointment when the dental assistant told my son that if he wasn't going to cooperate Mommy would have to go out and sit in the waiting room. The tears were streaming down his face and I knew at that moment that this was not the nurturing kind of environment my son (and every child for that matter!) needed. To top it off they didn't even give him a prize because he didn't cooperate. It's just absolutely unbelievable the way he was treated. read more

We love St. Paul pediatric Dentistry (We go to the Woodbury office on Bielenberg Street, a very nice and newer, clean office- have not been to the St. Paul clinic). Dr. Julie is very professional and her staff is so kind and fun to work with. My kids (10, 6, 5 and 2 years old) love going to the dentist. They are honest and what I appreciate the most is their upfront costs, they tell you exactly on an itemized sheet what you will be getting/ paying, etc so you know exactly what you'll be paying out of pocket and what your insurance will cover. Don't be afraid of asking what is what, and what is necessary or not. Don't be afraid to express your concerns. They have new equipments and kids get to watch their favorite show while laying down getting their cleanings and exams. My kids don't have cavities so far- thank goodness so I can't comment on actual cavities treatment. The staff is so nice to the kids. We go for cleanings twice a year, been there for almost 2 years. Dr. Julie is caring and always write us a thank you card after our visits. That's very thoughtful! Not many providers or private practices nowadays have this kind of thoughtfulness towards their patients. My kids love this place! read more

At two years old, today was my daughters first visit to the dentist. We went to their new Woodbury office. My daughter was so happy to see her name on the Welcome New Patients sign. As a mom i was nervous to see how the morning was going to unfold but they were fantastic. They had my daughter giggling and smiling for her teeth photos within minutes. Terrible billing practices. Will quote you a $0.00 estimate after insurance. Swear up and down that things like xrays are covered. Insist your children get these xrays, no matter how much you explain that xrays are not covered by your insurance. Then you will get an explanation of benefits from your insurance with a $200.00 patient responsibility. St. Paul Pediatric Dentistry will take no responsibility and will give you absolutely no answer as to why this happened. read more

Well worth the drive! I drive all the from Albertville, Mn to see Dr. Julie and her amazing staff. Right when you walk in you are welcomed with a big smile and hello from all. They are so kind and patient with my kids, I couldn't/wouldn't take my kids anywhere else! Highly recommend. read more

We went to this dentist from a referral as we were looking for a pediatric dentist. It is close to our home as well. My daughter has had fillings in the past and has had to get a one or 2 redone. We've questioned question how much experience this place has as they're pretty new but gave them the benefit of the doubt and continued to take her there. Not too long ago, I took her in to get a filling done for one of her molars on her right side of the mouth a few days before school started. I didn't go in the back with them to see what they were doing. When we left, there was no bruising on the outside of her cheek. When I got back home from work, we were headed to the her school for an open house - meet your teacher evening. I noticed her cheek was blue/green and thought she had marked herself with a marker. She then told me it was from the dentist. When I checked the inside of her cheek, I noticed that they numbed her cheek from the inside too. I've never seen that done before. We didn't think much and thought it would go away after a few days. A week and a half later, I called the dental office to let them know. We were concerned as it was still there. They asked us to bring her in but had to make an appointment so by that time we took her in - it's been at least 2 weeks (bruise faded a little). They didn't say much except that it wasn't them who did it. I was really disappointed when my husband told me their response. They just told us to take her to her doctor. During this time, I've been doing researching and reading online about these bruising people can get from going to the dentist and here they totally denied it. Biggest mistake I've ever made is not going to the back to see exactly what they are doing. If you still go to them, I recommend you to go to the back with your child. I put too much trust in them and am very disappointed. I've moved my daughter to my dentist's practice as he's very informative and gentle and has been a dentist for a very long time. Even though it's not going to be a pediatric office with all the kid stuff, I can feel at eased that I don't have to worry about a dentist's expertise. read more
