This past week, I had a burger craving so opted for the Bacon and Cheddar burger. They were able to sub with Swiss Cheese, but I wish they offered a classic Swiss cheese and mushroom burger, or elevated it with aioli. These options were only available with the Bison burger. The regular burger was tasty and moist as usual, but I probably had 2 days' worth of calories in the one meal - my own fault. I was hungry. There was an abundance of fried onion straws - too much actually, so I removed quite a lot to my plate. Next time, I will stick with the classic burger. Service was fair - our server seemed to have the majority of tables in another section and out of view. We were her only table on the one side, so it was a bit difficult to get her attention. Atmosphere and decor was good. Over the years, I've been disappointed that Turtle Jack's in general has changed and reduced their classic menu choices. I used to love their Apple Brie Burger with special sauces, bruschetta with reduced balsamic vinaigrette, and brunch menu. I'm sure it was more labour-intensive so I get it, but it was the reason that this restaurant stood out from the rest in its early years. I will try their dusted chicken wings again in the future. I have seen other reviews where they changed their recipe, so I hope that they didn't alter a good product.

We order a couple cocktails, they were both great. A Lychee Sour, and a mango Margarita, came out quick as the service was great. We both had soups and split a pork Bahn Mi. It is not sustainable the way it is being just a piece of paper. The food taste and presentation ranges from good to great. One thing that felt odd and out of place was menu item S10 Bò Né which includes marinated beef, cheese, fries, and other assorted food items. It felt a little off brand and different from the rest of the Vietnamese or Southeast Asian fare. The worst thing out of all the experience was the level of service and staff training. Many of the younger servers do not know what they are doing. The level of familiarity they have about the menu was inadequate. They were unsure about what some of the menu items actually were when they were bringing it over to serve it. Even if they may not be native to the type of cuisine being served, the least they can do is have an acceptable enough working knowledge about what is included in the dish and what it looks like. Proper anticipation and thought about providing the needed plates, bowls, and utensil sets was also just not there. We had to request for dishwares and cutlery several different times.

The goat cheese and spinach stuffing was the highlight of the dish and added a lot of flavour. Unfortunately, everything around it was a bit of a letdown. The mashed potatoes were very starchy and bland, the vegetables were overcooked and also bland and waterlogged, and the overall portion felt pretty small. The dish was also supposed to come with roasted potatoes, but they had run out of them, along with a few other menu items. I also tried the Forty Hazy IPA, which I thought was decent. My wife ordered the Ocean Crown Salmon, and unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing restaurant meals we've had in a while. The salmon was completely overcooked, dry, and even burnt in spots. The dish as a whole just felt uninspired, and she made the difficult decision to send it back, which is something she absolutely hates doing and very rarely does. She replaced it with the Mac & Cheese, but unfortunately that wasn't much better. We both found it to be very lacklustre, and the portion was surprisingly small. She finished it quickly and still ended up making herself something to eat once we got home. One thing we do want to commend was our server. He handled everything professionally and was kind enough to remove my wife's meal from the bill, which we really appreciated. The service was definitely the highlight of the visit. Overall, though, the food just felt like it lacked love, creativity, and attention to detail. Combined with a fairly average atmosphere, this visit just didn't leave much of an impression on us, and unfortunately it's probably not a place we'll be returning to.
