I think what happened is we ordered the wrong dis, I expected the lamb with side potatoes and vegetables to be real lamb.....like slices of medium rare lamb. my lamb was just shredded (like pull pork). It turned me off completely. my husbands's pork ribs were very good. vegetables (except carrots) were overdone. The two dishes, with unexceptional food cost us around $80 with tip. we had nothing else, no hors d'ouvres no alcohol, no drinks except water. I am late on posting this but I have to get it out! This place was amazing! I enjoyed the food here so much! I love Greek food but I haven't tried Cosmo's yet even though it's been open for like 20 years. If anyone is planning on trying it with the COVID restrictions I would recommend doing so now, because when we went there was a lot of seating with lots of space between people! The food was just amazing. We started with the hummus and pita, and then I tried the Psari Paki! Both were delicious! However, it was the dessert that really stole the show for me. The owner/chef makes the desserts fresh daily and they are true Greek desserts! I loved them! They were called Ekmek and Galacto Buriko - pastries with custard, honey, almonds, etc. OMG they were heavenly. I would come back to this place for the desserts alone. The service was awesome. We came on a Sunday and had a friendly server who had been working there for many years! So she knew all the details and ins/outs of what we were ordering. She gave us tonnes of recommendations as well! 10/10 experience - I would recommend this spot to anyone interested in trying some of the Greek restaurants in YEG. read more

This is my go to order out restaurant. I also like going there for their patio and their music lights. The customer service is always friendly and the food is always well priced and quite delicious. I usually order the same thing. Greek salad, grilled potatoes, hummus and lentil soup They don't have very many vegan options but they do have a good variety of vegetarian. And of course a lot of meat options. Their patio is new and they put a lot of effort in since covid to make it large and spacious. I highly recommend it in the summer. This is Night 2 of the COVID Release, and this evening was Cosmo's first night open - and we were the first table in... and you might think, maybe their game has suffered because of our Long Pause... but NOPE!!! The staff and kitchen rocked it, and rocked it hard! :) Nathan brought our Retsina quickly, and it was as expected (and anticipated)... ahh, retsina... ... followed by their appie 'disguised' as a Combination Platter - lots of food for two!!! Keftedes were awesome, very flavourful, I was initially disappointed that the Dolmates came in a sauce (haven't been served to me that way before), but the first bite turned that 'frown upside down'! The calamari batter was light and tasty, tzatziki nicely done, and the spanakopita was flaky and tasty... and we thought, are we done? But, nope! Took on the Lamb Souvla, roasted lamb w lemon potatoes and veg... WOW! Leave a leg of lamb slow roasting for hours and what do you get? Flavour over the top, soft and tender on the fork, and the perfect amount of food for Tania and I to share... and then, we thought we truly were done... but... ... take an amazing mixture of biscuit, chocolate, and walnut, and holy crap you can finish off a night right! I pleaded and advanced order on Uber Eats to try this restaurant. I even added a "restaurant tip" to try and give extra support locally. Near my expected delivery time I received a cancellation notice. Why would you accept the order early and then cancel my order with just about zero notice. This is a jem of a restaurant I just visited with friends last night. This was my first time there, and as I am Greek my expectations were low to moderate. I was pleased to see that the atmosphere was welcoming, the place was very very clean, the service was excellent, and the food was super tasty and very traditional I might say. Overall, I am very happy that my friend decided to go visit this restaurant instead of going to other Greek places we have been before. I will definitely be back, and highly recommend it. read more

My family and I had the most amazing Greek food at Cosmos! We haven't found this authentic and delicious Greek food anywhere else. We were there for a large birthday and then another smaller dinner a week later, we just couldn't get enough of the wonderful food. The staff was amazing and the owner makes you feel like family. We will 100% be going back next time we are in Edmonton. We would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for amazing Greek food with friendly staff. All Greek restaurants I have ever tried come with rice and a Greek salad on top of the potatoes and veggies. $12 for 4 meatballs? I have ordered the platter for take out a couple times in the last 5 weeks, and it was excellent. I ordered it last night for delivery, and the food was sub-par. The potatoes (see attached photo), lamb and kabobs were dry and overcooked. They looked like leftovers. The portion of roasted lamb was very small. The platter is $70, and I felt ripped off. If Cosmos can't fulfill an order because it's later in the evening, they should decline to make it. I would have ordered something else. Very unhappy and disappointed. read more

From my experiences the food has been top notch and provides a variety of dishes for any palate from chicken and fish to vegetarian. The plater for four with a few add ons is a good start for a small group, especially if you want to sample a number of different dishes. It's hard to not go to Cosmos and not mention the belly dances. Two shows nightly take place over the weekend so early or late diners can literally take part in the festivities. Part of the fun atmosphere comes from bashful participants shaking their hips! At times the service is slow, but that could be in part to the Balkan laid back lifestyle of its culture. So, savour the experience and sample more ouzo. read more

We pass by this plade all our time on the way to Duchess and finally decided to stop in. We were greeted by our very friendly waitress who got us seated right away. She was very helpful with explaining the menu and made great recommendations. The food was fabulous! The lamb chops were perfectly cooked and the octopadi (octopus) was amazing. I have tried octopus at several places and this one was the most tender I have had. The only critique I had was that the vegetables were a bit overcooked for my tastes, but that is preference. I did not have a good experience here. They had really bad service and when we politely told them our food didn't seem cooked properly they were very rude to us and acted like we had done something wrong. It felt like they were trying to insult us and accuse us of lying about our thoughts on the food. I can understand they would be defensive about their restaurant but we were being completely polite. If I had to think of one adjective to describe me experience at Cosmos; it would be GOUGED! Atmosphere reminded me of a worn out cheap diner in a tourist beach town with completely ridiculous prices. The service was polite but sparse. I must say the the food was the only redeeming quality of what I thought would be a horrible experience. They need to reset their price point if they want to draw in more of a dinner crowd OR they need to remodel the restaurant with experienced staff. There are presently two Greek restaurants on 124 street - Koutouki and Cosmos. I like Cosmos a lot better because of the more eclectic menu. This restaurant is decorated modestly but beautifully - blue tones and painted images of Greece on the walls give this restaurant an authentic feel. The food is simple and delicious. I find that cod filet, calamari with tzatziki sauce,chicken souvlaki and vegetarian casserole are specially good. The service at this place is always top notch. Let's go back in time when Cosmo's was the best Greek restaurant in Edmonton with breaking plates, belly dancers, great staff, did I mention amazing food??, now it's 2017 after numerous restaurants Como's returned I may have cried of happiness for this gem to come back to 124th Street and it did not disappoint we shared the combination platter which has calamari, dolmathes, Keftedes, spanakopita and tzatziki let's say melt in you mouth AMAZING! We also shared the dip platter that you can choose 3 dips with pita, it was like Cosmos never left! Great food! Great staff we will be back! So happy Cosmo's returned!! read more

The closure of Cosmo's was a big loss for the BEST Greek food in Edmonton. In December 2017... drove along 124th thinking okay date night at Smokehouse BBQ.... was I imagining things.... the sign said Cosmo's??? Turn around and park....YES!!!!! They have returned as the lease with prior tenants not renewed and the people who operated Cosmo's were asked if they wanted to come back again. So glad they did!!! read more

Amazing Greek food!! I had the Gyros plate and my friend had a meatball dish cooked in tomato sauce with rice. We shared tzatziki with fresh pita. All the dishes we ordered looked and tasted delicious! Our server was gracious in helping us improve our faulty Greek pronunciation. The price was more than reasonable for the very large orders. We both took home leftovers. You gotta try Cosmos! read more

I certainly wont be going back to this restaurant. I love good food, and I am currently on the search for cooked from scratch, non-franchise restaurants in Edmonton. The atmosphere is typical of a Greek restaurant, blue and white decor, knick knacks referencing the Mediterranean. But still a bit run down and in need of a fresh coat of paint. The service was good. Nothing to elaborate on here, this guy liked his job and knew how to do it well. The menu was pretty basic-nothing wild that would push your taste buds. I went with my mother and we each ordered a glass of house wine and a souvlaki plate. The food came out quick but was sub-par. I could have easily made this at home. The tzaziki was flavorless more like sour cream with some spices sprinkled in it. The skewers came out on a pita and were accompanied by a greek potato and some steamed veggies. This was the most disappointing part of the dish. The veggies were obviously of the frozen variety and were so soggy that they hung limp from my fork. For dessert we ordered the baklava which was nice, it had cinnamon in it which isn't always the case but I liked it. It was extremely sweet and soaked in honey but that's usually the case with this dessert, I still enjoyed it. By the time the check came I was thinking I could have gone to the fast food Greek restaurant Opa and saved a ton of money and had the same food. After careful planning for a staff Christmas party, the 17 of us decided on dinner at Cosmo's on 124 St. The decor is outdated with uncomfortable chairs and nauseating table cloths. It was -28C and you could sure feel the cold inside the restaurant. The food was acceptable. There are many other better Greek restaurants in the city. I would definitely not recommend this place if you are craving Greek. I ordered one of the staple dishes "Lamb Souvlaki". Unfortunately the lamb came out over cooked and burnt on the skewer with large amounts of fat. You get two skewers of meat and 1/2 of one of the skewers had all fat. Vegetable was overcooked and mushy but they got the potatoe correct - unfortunately it was douced with Mrs Dash. Completely unappetizing. The worst part of the experience was realizing our party of 17 individuals was seated at two different tables. Upon reservation we were gauranteed a table for 17. We told our waiter and he was less than impressed with our request of being seated together. He threw his hands up into the air and stated we could do whatever we like with the tables but warned us that the tables were wobbly. Instead of offering to help us, he let us rearrange the tables ourselves. Then another waiter approached while we were arranging the table and was very arrogant and rude. He would not let anyone speak and was very curt. Nonetheless, the experience at Cosmos was very unimpressive. While we were a table of 17 individuals with a bill of more than $700 we were not treated as customers. On a positive note, the belly dancers were entertaining.
