First time ordering from here. Had to take it to go due to the lockdown. We ordered Greek ribs and chicken fettuccine Alfredo. Was really disappointed in the ribs! They were dry and lacked flavour. Was charged $27 for them! Would think they would be worth that but so far from it! My roommates Alfredo was delicious though. The ribs came with chicken noodle soup which was delicious. Spruce Grove has got it going on. This place is Something Else, it really is! At first glance it appears to be suffering from an identity crisis. The sign out front says Cajun Italian Greek. Whaaat?!? Go on in, you won't regret it. It was fairly quiet when we we arrived and were seated immediately. Our server showed up promptly and took our drink order. Red sangria for me and radler for hubby. So far so good. The ambiance is nice, a very spacious dining room with twinkly accent lighting here and there, subtle decor and some cozy booths. Our waitress was very helpful but not annoyingly so. Hubby ordered the saganaki flambé which is a magical, flaming, melted cheese skillet deal with a side of flatbread for scooping up that hot, delicious, and gooey cheese. They extinguish the flames with a squirt of fresh lemon. Very delicious and theatrical! Props to the waitress for not burning her face off. For our main hubby had the Cajun Chicken Alfredo which was a creamy and spicy Alfredo sauce over fettuccine with chunks of chicken. Yummers! He ate it ALL! My entree came with a Caesar salad to start and it was so good hubby ate half of it! I ordered the Greek Ribs with roasted potatoes. The ribs were flavourful and tender with a nice grilled exterior, but I have to say...those roasted potatoes were the bomb baby. No joke. They reminded me of the potatoes from a well known Greek chain restaurant which will not be named. They are big chunks that have been simmered with seasonings, spices, and perhaps some tomatoes as they are a bit tangy. They're delicious and I know I'll be craving those tender nuggets in the future. My side veg was steamed carrots and cauliflower that were still a bit firm and very tasty. There's a showcase of desserts at the front of the restaurant and I really wanted to peek at what they had. The portions are generous here, I ate until I was full and probably still took half of it home. So dessert will have to wait for our next visit. Because there WILL be a next visit. read more

Went here last weekend as part of a large group - about 30 people - for a birthday dinner that my aunt threw. She made the reservation a few weeks ahead of time for sure. I noticed there were a couple of other large birthday parties there as well on a Saturday night. Not as big as ours, though. There is a private room, but we were seated at one extremely long table. The waitresses came around quickly and gave everyone water and took drink orders as people arrived. We didn't get our menus until the whole party was seated. It didn't take long for everyone to decide, and they took our orders soon after. I was surprised at how fast our food came out given how large our group was. The girls serving us were efficient and polite, but didn't really go above and beyond that I noticed. Me and my husband both had the lamb souvlaki and my dad had the beef souvlaki. Portions were good - I wasn't quite able to finish mine. The meat was pretty good but not outstanding. I thought the potatoes were pretty bland as well, but the tzatziki was delish - very garlicky, which I love. I thought the Greek salad was kind of unappealing. I didn't like the slightly creamy dressing much. I haven't been to Greece, but I would say this is not an authentic Greek restaurant. They serve other things as well, like pizza and steak. Our group was in and out in two hours. I can't say if I'd go here again or not. Maybe if I lived in Spruce Grove, as there don't seem to be a ton of choices out there, but who knows. Seems like a kid-friendly place, too, so I might not go for a romantic dinner as there were a couple of kids running around. read more

Came here with friends as a local told us about this restaurant. It's a nice quiet place for dinner with family and friends. There's parking in front or anywhere along the street. As a Greek restaurant, there are also different entrees available such as pasta, steak and seafood. Three of us had the donair and one friend ordered the moussaka. The donair comes with either Caesar or Greek salad, lemon roasted potatoes, 4 pieces of pita bread with thin donair meat and tazitki sauce for $14.75. The moussaka comes with just salad but it was a big delicious piece. We all enjoyed our food, the service was quick and the waitress was great! read more

So this restaurant came recommended by friends, as a long time excellent dining staple of the community. I love to support local businesses and I had a family member from England looking for a 'nice meal' traditional meal so this was our choice after checking the menu online. The interior looks as though it has never left the 80's, the cleanliness left a bit to be desired as well. My family member selected a Lamb Dish, I selected the New York and I was going to order a meal for takeaway for my teenage daughter. The service was O-kay ish, our server didn't seem to have recommendations and stated they had fussy taste and didn't eat there often... this should have been the first cue. We ordered starters which was the Ouzo Shrimp, it was alright but those 5 pieces where dead definitely on the plate and not "dancing" in any way as the description eludes to some masterful presentation... The prawns were tasteless and over cooked. The Lamb dish was so awful that my family member didn't eat much more. It too was over cooked and poorly seasoned, I see it is not on there menu now... enough said. My New York steak was also tasteless and I ordered Medium Rare and got Well Done. At this point our experience was going downhill so I alerted the server. They would replaced the steak but it was going to be 20 plus minutes for the replacement, which means the rest of my food would have been cold. I said well that's part of the issue, Medium Rare is only 2 mins on either side! We were trying to be light hearted, I was celebrating a new job. My family member decided not to bother with his Lamb dish. Then we ordered dessert, as always planned from the start, and they were on display when you enter. I can't even remember what exactly was selected... would have been chocolate mousse cake and a tiramisu. They were stale! They tasted like they were in a meat cooler stored with marinating meat. Again NOT good. So after we got the bill I expected some sort of compensation for the mishaps, the food was clearly over cooked and not prepared well... nothing. Lots of oh my goodness I'm so sorry... but no compensation at all. We are non confrontational people and I have worked the service industry in tourism and hospitality at many resorts... this was unacceptable. This was hands down the WORST experience and I cannot believe we got that type of service and product... we spent nearly $200 on that bill between the two of us, and we were planning on ordering pasta for my kiddo at home and I promised her a dessert as well... so we went to Wendy's for her meal. I have never had this much disappointment for quite sometime in a Greek Restaurant. Everything we ordered had excessive amount of salt in it. We had to send hummus and feta thing back Lamb and blackened chicken we ordered as main course and both were dipped in to salt pretty much. read more

My wife and I decided to go out tonight to support local. The inside was nice when we ordered the calamari to start it was so chewy it was like 50 gummy bears in your mouth they said it was normal. the jambalaya was gross their no marinara sauce it was brown. Chunks of meat with gristle. This will be the last time we go their again. $100 later we should have went to the keg !! read more

This is probably the best 'formal' restaurant in Spruce Grove. If you are looking for a night out in the area, it's your best bet. Something Else is most noted locally for their Greek offerings, with my personal favorites being Souvlaki, Moussaka, and the incredible Saganaki (a FLAMING PLATE of CHEESE... mmmmm)! They also offer more standard fare for the less adventurous diner; burgers and some very good pastas. As per usual Spruce Grove, I haven't had 'blow-me-away' service here; but again, it is the best the town has to offer and I have never been disappointed with the food! read more

This is a very welcoming and well-run restaurant. The food is great, the service is friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is very conducive to an all around relaxing dining experience. The hummus is an experience all in it's own. The chef adds his own secret ingredient that makes it over-the-top delicious. I have never had an even so-so meal here. It's always great. They have a private room for groups that is very nice and provides just the right amount of privacy. You can't go wrong with this establishment. read more

My husband & I were there last night and were very disappointed. Hadn't been for a couple of years and found the food very bland. The mousakka was always my favourite and it had no flavour at all and the Greek salad was swimming in dressing. My husband had the Athenian Pasta w/ shrimp and it also was very bland. It seems like they must have a new chef who has not mastered the art of Greek cooking. We will not be returning. Beautiful spacious restaurant with lots attractive seating area. There is a private room for a small gathering which is a great idea. This place gets really busy on the weekends! The owner was in tonight and he is a man with a strong personality and is very firm with his decisions. I was here for a small wedding of 30 people. We thought we had a better set up, but I guess there was a miscommunication between staff members. There was enough staff so we were able to rearrange what we need to accomplish our desired proposal. I felt like they didn't really go above and beyond for us. Maybe I was expecting more because it was a wedding. The menu had many popular Greek dishes and family friendly choices. There were foods for kids to enjoy as well such as chicken fingers and fries. We had a choice between the salmon filet or the beef skewer (Souvlaki platters) First of all, I didn't have to pay for the meal, so it was good. The portion of food was a big size. I have dined at Something Else Restaurant a number of times. Generally the food is really good and the restaurant is always busy...a good sign. I used to love the Mousaka. Last time I ordered Mousaka it was cold in the middle as though it came out of a fridge, put in the oven and served before it was hot. It was sent back to the kitchen and came back still cold. I don't order it anymore, I miss it so I hope somebody from Something Else Restaurant reads the reviews. Just recently I had the Mediterannean Chicken that came with roasted potatoes and a salad; all was excellent. A few people in our party had soup/salad, included in the price, before their main course. Seemed odd as prices were all pretty close. We have also always enjoyed the warm bread that the restaurant serves before the meal. This last time one small loaf came part way through the meal and was placed by the only person who ordered a pasta dish. He ate it all believing it came with his meal. Maybe it did? There were six of us so another loaf would have been appreciated - that is if it was meant to be for all of us. I have one last comment which is a large part of the reason for posting this review. Dessert....a treat when we eat out .....so disappointed though. The carrot cake frosting tasted somewhat like artificial whip cream. It looked like cream cheese frosting so the expectation was carrot cake with regular cream cheese frosting. I would probably dine at Something Else Restaurant again because what they do well - they do really well. However I will speak up next time about the bread and ask about the Mousaka and dessert preparations. read more

This restaurant was awful. Food was mediocre and service was poor. The waitress kept referring to our table as " you guyses" we waited for 20 min before she even came tot our table . Our drink order was wrong and our appetizer came out when we were three quarters through our main course. Wouldn't wast my money there again. Wasn't even busy. I am writing this based on my first experience dining here over a year ago. I went here not knowing what to expect once I got in, as the building is nothing special. The inside is such a nice surprise and completely surpassed my expectations. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was great. You can tell that they take great pride in their food and service, and they have many different food options to choose from. Four of us went on a Wednesday night. It was half full. Three of us had lamb and I had salmon. The lamb was very lean and came with potatoes, rice, Greek salad and bread. All were excellent. The salmon was fresh, which I did not expect. The service was very good. It was not cheap, but fairly priced for the large quantities and high quality meat. The total bill was $110. Do not eat here - unless you like paying for overpriced food and leaving hungry. We went to this restaurant for this first time tonight and it was the worst dining experience I've ever had. I couldn't eat my entree as the seafood was overcooked and the sauce was cold and bland. I sent the food back, shortly after the waitress came back and asked if I would like to take it home because her manager won't let her take it off the bill. I said no thank you, I won't eat it. She said ok well I will have her come talk to you. The manager never came, so we asked to speak with them again, and still nothing. Finally the bill came, my $20 meal which I had one bite of still on it and still no sign of the manager. We paid the bill, but I asked for the third time to see the manger. The manager finally came over and I was expressing my dissatisfaction with the food. She explained to me they had no other complaints so it must just be my tastebuds. It was then that she walked away from the table as I was in the middle of my sentence. No apologies, nothing to show that she had even an ounce of care for the customers. Our waitress was very good and we really did feel bad that her manager put her in that position. We would not have been as upset if the manager had simply come over immediately and tried to address our grievance. So we left, still hungry, with $20 less in our pockets and zero desire to go back. read more
