I really like this 711...however, always panhandlers near...always, around the store, everywhere. I like the fact that they keep their items stocked and coffee is hot and not bad at all. Store seems a little on the dirt side on floor...but, definitely due to high foot traffic downtown. Again, I would have rated higher but the panhandlers on occasion, are a little pushy! read more

Cost One Food Mart is a corner store (or bodega, if you're from the East Coast) located in the bottom floor of 211 Ervay. This is what corner stores are like without the movie tie-in slushies, crew uniforms and district managers: dingy and random. If you want the 7-11 experience, walk a block and a half in practically any direction and soak in a few thousand watts of fluorescent lighting, bright signage and wide aisles. If you want to get your coffee, smokes, giant can of beer, scratch-offs or soda amidst Girls Gone Wild DVDs, weed paraphernalia, blaring r&b music, the terminally unemployed and a micro-casino operating dodgily in the back, then Cost One is for you. The operators are nice guys, and best (worst?) of all, they allow dogs, so you can get coffee while you're out walking your pooch. The coffee is delicious, too. Pricing is seemingly random, but there are some items you can't find anywhere else in downtown. They have some cheap sunglasses and a little "tobacco accessories" section (including scales, pipes, papers and blunt wraps), if you're into that. Mix tapes from local hip hop artists are available at the register. Oversized white tees and other Dallas-themed apparel can be found in racks by the front door. Parking is surprisingly easy, but you're probably walking here. In case you're driving, there's metered parking around the side. This place is a little slice of East Dallas injected into downtown. I would give it five stars, but interacting with the homeless in an enclosed space can get a little sketchy. It also closes early for a convenience store. Still, my favorite convenience store in the city! read more

Yea, I've been in this store like once or twice. And I did leave my wife in the car. The store is so small it's ridiculous, from what I can remember they had about the same amount of merchandise as a Dillard's crammed into 300 square feet. Purchased my spirits, and spirited out the front door briskly before any bums could hound me. read more

It's a little corner C-store, but it looked shady! Guys, don't let your female friends go in here by themselves. Needing a pack of cigs, I went in and came out asap! Fortunately they were promoting my brand, so I got a 2-for-1, woohoo! This is the kind of place where you go to, after having a bad day, and spend whatever cash you have in your pockets buying yourself a 32 or 40 ouncer! They have a huge tub full of ice cold Keystones right in front of the register and the majority of people in line had at least one 32 oz can of Keystone in their hands. A lot of people had a bad day. read more

I was staying at the Sheraton downtown. I needed a spot to buy beer. This place had beer. Hence, I shopped here. It's a tiny little store with an awful selection and somewhat high prices. It'll get the job done, but it's not a place you'll stop at if you have better options. I didn't so I was in there a few times. The weirdest thing is that they have porn just out. Right by the door. Like it's an impulse purchase while you're standing in line. Since I have a high-speed internet connection, I wasn't tempted. read more

After enjoying a delicious dinner with friends and family I decided to stop in at this establishment for the purchase of a fermented beverage. I knew something was strange when one of the employees had to unlock the door for me to acquire a very reasonably priced 12 pack of 16oz Miller Lite. I returned back to my temporary living quarters and began the consumption process. For the first time in years this beverage caused me to have hiccups. Violent and uncontrollable hiccups that have not stopped! Other than this issue the staff was very professional and the facilities were clean. The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is because they still had the refrigerator doors locked. I cannot take away from this business due to the poor quality of this fine Pilsner beer. read more

What can I say, this place is interesting. It's located across from a rather large bus stop downtown, so there are some homeless folks in the near vicinity. There is also a payphone on Ervay right next to the store, and a mailbox, so it's location is prime. I think most folks that frequent this shop live or work in the immediate area. It's basically like a mini mart, but with additional smoking paraphernalia, beer/wine, and a few gambling machines in the back of the store, where the loud dance beats seem to emanate from. The guy who runs the place is nice, and easy to transact with, and the people who hang out inside and out are friendly enough. Prices aren't amazing, but they're not horrible either. read more

Not much to say besides being a corner food/convenient store. I live across the street so when I need cigarettes, beer, wine, or something to quick to eat I tend to come here. Staff is friendly and accommodating, and there is always an abundance of people watching to be had. I just wish they were open a bit later. read more

I've been here several times, and somehow each visit has managed to be its own unique episode of chaos. The main issue always seems to be whoever is working the register. Customer service is not just absent -- it has left the building, changed its number, and blocked everyone. I've seen employees yelling at customers, including one cashier who got upset because a customer chose to go to another 7-Eleven that accepts debit for lottery purchases. As the customer walked out, the cashier yelled, "THE WINNING TICKET IS HERE!!!" -- which honestly felt less like customer service and more like a dramatic prophecy from a gas station oracle. The lines are always long, winding through the aisles like we're waiting for a theme park ride, except the ride is disappointment and the gift shop is chips. Everyone just stands there, silently hoping the cashier finds either some pep in his step or one single thing in life to be grateful for. I keep giving this place another chance, but at this point I gotta call it quits, I'm certain I can find a store that respects me as a customer.

They also advertise that they accept cash which I was planning on using but when I took it out to pay they said they were not able to take it at that time.
