The reason for the low review is I went in for a type of whiskey they didn't have (fine) and they offered a different product that was supposed to be similar (also fine). The problem is that I looked up the item afterwards and this location charges about double the price of what you would normally spend on this "Japanese whiskey" (air quotes because further research shows that it's not a true Japanese whiskey). One of the reasons why i love living in Orange County. We have some of the best unique looking liquor and wine stores here. I have been to Wine Spirits a few times in the past. I stopped here over the weekend to see what kind of wines i can imbrace inside my liquor cabinets at home and for some to drink. They have so many different brands of alcohol here besides wines. I gave this one-star review an extra star because the complaints people are making about the business's parking spots are not valid. Hundreds of thousands of OC businesses have reserved parking. If you don't respect it, that's **your** problem, not the business's. However, the complaints about upcharges and double-card-swipes are 100% valid. So no one's coming to their rescue this place with 5-star reviews. If you go here, pay cash, and double-check your receipt to make sure everything you were charged for reflects the price on what you're buying. Costa Mesa Wine and Spirits is my go-to liquor store. What sets it aside from other local stores is the sheer variety - a multitude of different craft beers and ciders (as well as all of the familiar favourites), and a huge number of different wines to choose from. Although it's not my thing, the shelves are packed with all kinds of spirits. The staff are always friendly, and the prices are good. I've never had issues parking despite the business of the shopping centre its located in, thanks to the dedicated parking spots. They have a beer fridge. A WALK-IN FRIDGE DEDICATED TO CRAFT BEERS. For such a small shop, I applaud them for that. I walked into it out of curiosity and it wasn't too cold, but I was wearing two jackets cause the nights have been super chilly lately. Either way, it can fit at most two people at a time, maybe three, but that would be a tight fit. Great selection and bottles from top to bottom. Legit. I spent way too much time talking about this beer fridge. The selection for spirits and wine is a pretty decent variety too. The owner really takes pride in his collection and if you're a regular, he's a pretty cool guy to talk to. I'm not the regular one here, but my brother stops in weekly for his beer or wine treat. I accompany him a few times, but I have yet to commit to purchasing a bottle of bourbon to start my collection. I'll have to update when I do. There's about 3-5 parking spaces dedicated to the store, which makes it easy to hop in and out without the hassle of trying to find parking. This plaza is infamous for lack of spaces, but there's always open spaces at the extended stay around the corner. Just park and walk over if you plan on dining in the area. read more

This guy is beyond rude and disrespectful!! He assumed I wasn't a customer and that I was parking outside of his store, only to walk to another restaurant close by. He was telling me how I couldn't park outside of his store because it was for customers only. He was standing there with his arms crossed and pointing his finger how I needed to move my car. He didn't even wait to see if I was a customer and didn't even have the decency to ask me. I was trying to take my 4 year old out of her car seat when he started attacking me. I came to his store to buy cold drinks for my girls who were at dance class. We forgot to bring cold drinks and I didn't have cash for the vending machine. Hmm.. since this is not the only liquor store in the area, I would definitely not come here again. In fact, I could not even go in because the worker basically blocked me from going inside. I came to this plaza to go to a vape shop. I found a parking space in front of this shop and thought "perfect, I can buy something to drink too after going to the vape shop!." So, I parked my car in the spot, and then this guy came out of this shop and started staring at me with a very mean face... I was wondering if he was a worker or just a weird customer... As soon as I got out of my car and started walking towards the vape shop, he yelled "YOU CANNOT PARK HERE!" .......okay....... I guess I won't go into your shop anymore. Sure, that parking spot is supposed to be just for this shop, but your job is not to stay at the door like a watcdog to bark at possible customers protecting a parking spot. I do not need these people or service in my life, so bye, I will never come back here. So glad the vape shop in this plaza had a very friendly nice guy who helped me just to buy one battery right after this incident. For being a little wine and spirit shop this place has a decent size walk in Humidor. They have your standard liquor store offerings sodas, snacks, nick nacks, and energy drinks. But they also have a large selection of wines and hard booze. For me the Humidor is where its at. Local, fair pricing, and a pretty decent selection of cigars. Cigars range from the $2.00 for one to $40 depending on your taste. I picked up 2 Cohibas for $20 piece. Not bad. Ill take that price and the covenant and helpful service over having to drive to some strange smoke shop. For a pretty tiny store this place packs a punch! Cigar humidor, your usual liquor selection, and just what I came for... a wall full of fine craft beer! The owner knows his stuff and based off of what I picked made some other recommendations that were exactly the other few beers I was looking at. The only thing I could recommend to step it up another notch would be to put beer advocate or ratebeer ratings on some of the heavy hitters. If you absolutely gotta go here--just don't let the cashier take your card to swipe it for you. They could swipe it twice and you'll get dinged twice on your bank account.* This happened to me, and even after showing the owner ("Eddie") the transactions in my bank account he wouldn't recredit the extra charge back to my bank account. Oh well, lesson learned. Avoid this place, or eyeball your credit card when they run it through the device. *** This is getting into speculative territory, but I'm assuming they're doing something fishy with their card readers or hid one of the receipt printers in a sound-proof drawer. One of the worst establishments that I've ever had the displeasure to PARK at. This review is specifically in regards to the parking regulations and the unscrupulous actions of the owner. This is a busy stretch of property, there are a few exclusive restaurants on this piece of land, it's prime real estate to say the least, and to make matters worse, parking is horrendous. There are about 25 parking spots for 10-15 different businesses. Yes, there were signs that stated the parking spots were specifically for customers of the liquor store. However, as life is, and you're in the midst of chaos and lost in the moment, most are surely to overlook the signs and go abour their business- as we did. As we wanted to check out one of the restaurants off the corner, we initially parked in front of the liquor store. Luckily, I stayed in the car. After no more than 5 minutes, here's the owner standing outside his establishment, arms crossed, with a shit-eating grin from ear to ear. Didn't know what is was about, went about my business. He left went into the store. Suddenly instincts kicked in. He had obviously called a tow truck. What really drove me was the fact this "man" -whom cowardly hid in his store to call and get our car towed and then proceeded to stand in front his store & seemingly square off with our car, did not have the decency nor heart to inform us about the parking beforehand. I don't care what the competition is from other businesses, you DON'T treat people like that. Maybe, if the owner learned a thing or two, he might be bring in more profit. SO BEWARE OF PARKING IN FRONT OF THEIR STORE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR CAR TOWED. Thankfully, we left before the truck got there. If I could give this place a zero star I would. Not only do they mandate not being able to park outside of their store for the much more purposeful establishments in the plaza, but the time I go in to buy a bottle of tea, I received one of the worst instances of customer service in my entire life. I bought a bottle of tea, 2 juices, and an energy drink. I was refused a bag because I happened to have a very basic drawstring napsack and when I went to put away my tea -- the tea bottle slipped out of my hand (it was a rainy, cold night) and broke on the floor. I apologize profusely and immediately tried to bend to pick up the glass and the first thing out of the cashier's mouth was "you can't have another one" -- RUDE. Don't give these jerks your money.
