We organized gas line up. Went fairly quickly. 2 vehicles leave 2 Vehicles drive up to the pumps. You do have the impatient ones that can't seem to wait for the one vehicle to finish up at the pump. Then you see them try to maneuver their vehicle to get to the first pump by the time they've done that, the vehicle at the second pump is done. So what did they gain nothing. I am a Costco fan during the good times, but not during COVID-19. It's great that Costco is implementing some precautions during the pandemic but some of them just do not make sense. The store is limiting the number of shoppers in the store but they have no directional signs on the floor to keep people from running into one another. People with PPE seem to have a sense of security in that they can still weave in and out of isles, paying no attention to "Social Distancing". Stores like Sobey's, Safeway and Walmart have made the change why not Costco? A few weeks ago the store was wiping down carts as customers brought them into the store. This did not make sense to me. Once the cart is touched isn't it is already contaminated? This measure would've made sense if we had been provided with hand sanitizer while the cart was being wiped down, but this was when there was a shortage everywhere. I feel the measure was simply based on "optics". Perhaps the store needs to utilize its staff to control the carts, much like Sobey's where carts are returned inside (by a staff member or customer), cleaned then distributed to the next customer. It is great that Costco is banning customer from bringing in their own bins, or bags, however staff needs to notify customers politely (gracefully) prior to them standing in line. My husband stood in line for 20 minutes only to be told "rudely" to return them to his car. It is a little late to inform clientele of new measures once they have already wasted their time patiently standing in a 20 minute plus line-up. Why not tell them before they get in the line or put up signage? Why not utilize employees that pack groceries (we as customers can do that) to inform more people of new rules, control carts, control customer movements through the store or to offer a picking/pick-up service? When I think back to the start of the chaos, I think about the toilet paper, lysol and sanitizer shortage. This should have been controlled by the stores from the onset. When the stores started noticing the insanity, why did they not control it sooner? Clearly, the public "will" take advantage of what they are "allowed" to get away with. Now is the time to step up with reports of a "meat shortage". Do the right thing and limit what customers can buy now. If the concern is spoilage, then utilize more freezers. Retailers need to quit being greedy and do the right thing and be pro-active, instead of reactive. I realize that this is a sensitive time for everyone involved, but there also has to be some semblance of customer service during such times. If we could get our membership fee back, we would. We as a family will likely shop elsewhere (like Sobey's) even if it means spending more, than deal with the chaos that is Costco currently. WHY don't they have an express lane ????? I don't buy a whole ton of stuff when I shop there. I do like certain things, like the meat dept. and a few other bulk type items. I really like going here, not only when I have to shop for a big party but also the day to day stuff, at least some of it. Yes, everything you get there comes in a big or super big box, but it is usually quite a lot cheaper than going to the regular grocery store. Be aware though, it's like shopping at Ikea, you usually end up buying more than you were planning on. They do a lot of food sampling, which I really like, I found some nice things that way. It is pretty busy on the weekend so try to come here during the week. I walked in and was totally overwhelmed. It was big box retail chaos to the power of absolute suburban consumerism. Nope nope nope! I needed party supplies and I needed them fast so I held my breath and dove in. Once pass the madness that is the front door it opened up a little and a felt a bit more safe. I'd even say I had a bit of fun weaving my Honda civic sized shopping through the rest of the wire frame traffic. I was pushing like 5 flats of water which made my cart less nimble that the others', but in the event of several head on shopping cart collisions, I always won. #fistpump. Alright stop. Before we go any further, I need to talk about foot long hotdog + fountain pop combo for $150. That hot dog alone is worth the overpriced membership card rediculousness. Bounce to that idea - did I just pay for membership for the privlege of shopping at a store? This isn't a club, people, it's a freaking store and we've all been duped! ...but those hotdogs though... Oh! Oh! And all sort of other kinds of samples too! I'd say come hungry, but do not - I repeat, do not! I had planned on spending around $100 and hit the tills at $300. Could you imagine what would have happened if I was hungry? What I really liked was the stuff that wasn't just oversized things like popcorn that could also double as a sleeping bag, but they've actually got a pretty good assortment of high quality products. Given the large sizes of all the food items I'm basically stuck to purchasing non-perishables... and probably steak. Picture working your way efficiently through the store, selecting what you need (they do have an excellent meat section) while avoiding the barrel of mayonnaise or pallet of pizza. No more traffic jams, no more frustration. You arrive at the checkout in 20 minutes, calmly unload your items and rejoice smugly at the fact that your purchases don't require a second mortgage. In the parking lot you simply place your bags in the car, no more carts to return or frustration about that damn wheel that just won't roll. Love: - That they're starting to carry healthy foods in bulk - it is a lot cheaper to buy things like coconut oil or quinoa in larger sizes here (assuming you use them a lot) than at organic stores like Community or Planey Organic! - Bulk meats, toilet paper, personal care items - you name it! Again, a lot cheaper for these day-to-day items than at the grocery store. - Cheap gas with your membership card. They even have deals on brand-name jewelry like Links of London and Pandora! Non-members can shop at the liquor store. They have a great selection of wine on the cheap! Hate: - Costco customers. I hate them in the parking lot. I hate them in the aisles. I hate them in line. If you're single like me, do yourself a favour and don't shop here on the weekends. The best times to go are in the evenings. Weekends are a shopping nightmare - hoardes of people, children themselves at your shopping cart, mass chaos. And for those of you going there on the weekends - do yourselves and everyone else a favour and GO ALONE (unless you are purchasing large/heavy items)! Leave your kids at home - it's a WAREHOUSE, not a playground. I wish I owned a deep freeze. Such a thing would spare me quite a bit of hassle stuffing my items into the freezer (half of which I never planned on buying until I saw them on special) Costco always makes me buy more than I need, but I rarely regret it. Let's start with the parking lot first. It's large and usually hard to find a spot on busy days, but with enough Jedi patience, you'll find one. Nearby the gas station or the liquor store is usually the best place to score an elusive space. I love how big the spaces where designed to be as well. It helps limit the tendency of bad drivers etc to scrape or bang your vehicle pulling in/leaving and/or opening doors. Inside looks like every Costco. A big ol' warehouse packed to the roof with skids of SKUs, full of wonder and amazement. It's like Disneyland for bachelors out of groceries. Their meat section is terrific, and sometimes you can score a great deal on ground beef or other staples of the Alberta man. Their mild Italian sausage is terrific, chickens juicy and delicious and their ribs are so meaty that even I'm intimidated. Having a backyard BBQ party? Grab the ribeye roast. For a very good price, you can cut about 10 5-6 ounce steaks out of it. Their produce isn't that impressive and the prices usually aren't too competitive in that section. Frozen section is great. My giant box of perogies are always calling my name. A 4 pack of Kirkland bacon goes for a decent price and their burgers are great. They have a huge selection of other frozen food in the section that I won't get into at this point. Refridgerated section is packed with multiple items at varying prices. The dairy nearby is a nono for me as it's usually not too competative on the pricing. The dry goods aisles are always well priced and you can find everything that your heart desires. Keep in mind that there is a Superstore across the street for anything you can't find or isn't a good price at Costco. They compete with eachother quite mercilessly in both grocery and liquor prices. read more

Not only that but we had been waiting for about 15 mins with no acknowledgment from the staff or from this women who was working alone. I could see she was frustrated but still gives no reason to be rude to anyone just cause the guy she was helping was not good with English it isn't his fault. And then a guy comes in cuts in front of us and the lady goes and helps him so my dad and I just left. Surely Quebecers eat melted curds safely..but how? HOW? UPDATE: I've done the leg work for you, dear Yelp readers. I have confirmed with the canteen manager that the curds are purposefully not supposed to melt at Costco. Riiiiight. Despite this, I have slowly and surely devised a system to achieve acceptably soft curd action here. 1) Ask for a fresh batch of fries to be made 2) Ensure that they leave the curds out while the fries cook 3) Ask that they put the cheese in the middle of the fries 4) Optionally ask for a second container, to form a lid on the poutine for heat retention. This may sound like you're being a pain in the butt, but they know their standard protocol is a travesty, and are quite willing to customize upon request in the name of The Almighty Melty Cheese. read more

I am a tried and true Costco shopper but will never shop here again. Parking is difficult to say the least. Product is either absent or out of date. Staff are unfriendly or nowhere to be found. Carts of returned product litter the aisles in the clothing section. And the lines - DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED! I will drive to any other Costco, make my purchase and drive back and probably it will still be faster. I waited 45 minutes in line yesterday, which is the longest I have ever waited at any Costco. Oh Costco. Love this place! Unfortunately the days I usually go are Saturday mornings, so it's my own damn fault when I find it difficult to move around, or when waiting in line for an exceptionally long time. There's not really much to complain about Costco and the items themselves, nor their quality. Yeah once or twice those triple chocolate cookies weren't that great, but beyond that I've never had a problem there. Their clothes section tends to be pretty messy (customers fault, not Costco's) but the stuff they have is nice, organized underneath the mess, and with a decent stack of sizes. The samples are also always lovely and the people running those stations are quite efficient at trying to make sure they don't run out of samples. If you look past the lines, the service at the cash desks is exceptional. They have most cash lines open when it's busy and will have one person to ring items through, and another to pack. One time while shopping here with my mom we only had about ten items in the cart, and someone offered to ring through our purchase while we were in line since we weren't buying much. When we finally reached the cashier we gave them our card, and the whole purchase was right there and ready to be paid for. I don't really know what the place could do to speed things up more. Plus the fact Costco is in a shopping complex just off Deerfoot makes it even more worthy of five stars. read more

I love costco!!!! Man do i love costco! Yeah its souless to the tenth degree and I dont care! its a great place to get certain items! Here is a list of some of my favorite features. -Meat department- Really great, they have a wide selection at wholesale prices! the beef selection really shines!!, and I love how you can see all the meat people in the back spraying down their butchering tables with hot soapy water. thats one clean operation! Cheese- Yep, believe it or not costco carries some world class cheese (not super huge selection) but they got all the staples and occasionally some really cool suprises. I always get my parmigiano reggiano here a nice huge wedge its last me for months and then i make minestrone with the rinds! Concession- Two words, HOT DOG! best cheap hot dog in the city! 2 bucks for a big dog and a drink, with all the toppings you could want! pizza is ok to. apparantly the poutine aint bad either but I always go for the dog. The workers are often very grumpy, i find it amusing and by the time I get my dog i dont even remember Odds and ends- everything from golf clubs (i hate golf) to stereos and big screen TV's, random funiture car tires, batteries! I always enjoy walking around and looking at this crap! Its very fun! Samples- Yes on a saturday afternoon always at least three people dealing out some food, the best part is they rarely remember you so you can always come back for seconds!! having a staff thats this impersonable has its advantages! Bakery- The bakery at costco is wicked! much much better than any safeway or co-op. Don't go on the weekends if you can help it. The line-ups can take an hour + to get though. With that being said, who doesn't love Costco. Why by 2 pounds of flour, when you can buy 50? Or 1 chocolate bar, when you can buy a case? The prices are reasonable, and actually quiet a good deal. I tend to frequent the Costco on the Northside of the city, but on a whim I decided to head over to this mega-mammoth sized Costco. As all Costco stores always do, this Costco left me happy, impressed and extremely eager to book my next visit. This store has got all the Costco goodness as the other stores, but to add, it's located in a HUGE complex where you can ALSO find, yes, Ikea. So one stop, two mammoth stores, and a VERY happy wallet. I must also tell you all that I bought the greatest hoodie I have EVER owned at this Costco for $19. It looks exactly like a hoodie from Aritzia, but it doesn't hurt my wallet :) I can tell you HONESTLY that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Costcos. All Costcos in the city make me ridiculously happy. Not only do they have the GREATEST sales, the greatest products, the greatest prices, the greatest selection, the greatest samples and the greatest hoodies, but they have never, not in my entire life, disappointed me. Hi I just came home from shopping at Costco Heritage and was harassed because of my age. I encountered a very rude employee he would not give me his name (gen x) but the cashiers name was Marlene P (she was not very helpful either) and just as rude as the person packing the groceries in boxes. He was hassling for getting money from my purse and would not let me use the counter he wanted me to use the disability counter which is too low and hurts my hands and lower back. I have extremely bad/disfiguring rehumatoid and osteoporosis arthritis and was made to feel like I was being unreasonable for wanting to get money from my purse. When I told him I was fully vaccinated he told me he didn't care and basically told me to get out of the way, I was holding up the line when I started to cry he told me to just die already. I have never been treated so badly in my I have been a loyal Costco member since it opened. But today I was treated very badly and made to feel old and disrespected by these employees!!! read more

I always thought that if hell exists it would be in the form of a Costco. You would be amongst idiots who push their carts into you and neverending lineups. Costco must make tons of money on memberships because it is always busy, yet they can't seem to upgrade their photo equipment for cards? Or maybe just train your staff to use the equipment. In the past couple of months I have renewed my membership and got a new picture. When I was paying, I was told that they couldn't scan my card so I would have to go to customer service for help. I hated my picture so I went back on a different day. I was then told that their camera was broken and they couldn't figure out why my card wouldn't scan. I was also told to come back to get my card fixed. On my third attempt, I was told that I would need to replace my card and get a new picture. Guess what? I'm looking down, half my face is covered by my scarf and my eyes are closed in the picture. Tell me, how is the cashier going to recognize the cardholder? Ok, I know that this is a bit of a weird review, but it warranted addition because they use the ever famous Dunn's smoked meat, which is simply exciting and tasty as heck. Well seasoned in Montreal steak spices, the meat is simply tender and juicy to the point of simple pleasure. The only reason why I'm not rating this any higher? Well, they use ciabatta bread and plain ol' mustard instead of hot, and the poutine with breaded fries, while better than most fast food places, simply isn't traditional and changes the whole meal. Add that you're surrounded by hundreds of people who're bulk shopping, the atmosphere also goes completely out the window. Still, definately worth picking up from time to time. read more

Not impressed with Costco at all. The biggest problem I have is their fruits. I have stopped shopping at Costco because of this. Their fruits DO NOT last very long. We have had this time and time again where we go to have some of the fruit a couple of days later and it's gone bad. Then I started looking at the fruit more closely in the store and its amazing how much bad goods they have out. Biggest disappointment from Costco was their FALSE CLAIMS! Are people actually writing reviews for Costco and complaining about the size? Or the fact it's a 'big box store'? Or the items for sale are 'too much / big' to eat? What cave did you just crawl out of? Did you really think Costco was a small boutique with quaint hipster-type food selections? Come on people write a real review and get a life! Its Costco - and if you know what it offers and what you need - nothing beats it. Prices are the lowest you can find when you look at the $$ per mg / per portion / per lb comparison to other grocery stores. For my family, Costco is our go to place for almost all our staple items including fresh produce. I have an enormous deep freeze and its always stocked thanks to Costco. Yes - it IS VERY busy on the weekends and evenings. Smarten up and go on Monday morning. Yes - portions are big. If it's just you and your cat in a 400 sq ft apartment - this shouldn't be your shopping store of choice. Go away and leave an extra parking spot for people like me who happily go in and stock up and leave. I WANT the 40lb bag of oranges because my son can eat 20lbs in 3 days and I don't feel like spending $15 in gas every week going back and forth to Safeway or wherever just to keep the fridge stocked! I only need to visit Costco once a month. One day out of a month and I can put up with a heck-of-a-lot to save hundreds. Costco has the best items at the best prices. My family eats mostly fish and chicken, and I love they have wild (NON-FARMED) fish options both fresh and frozen at unbeatable prices. They bring in new items all the time and take anything back, no-questions-asked. The Kirkland brand is always top quality and makes 'No Name' look like Dollar Store quality. They allow you to use MasterCard now, but if you can't go because they won't take your credit card of choice, and cash isn't an option for you ... just stop shopping. Entirely. Anywhere. My experience with the tire centre has been the worst experience of my life. I showed up nice and early (they don't make appointments) to have my winter tires changed to summer tires. At 10 am I was told it would be done at noon or earlier. At noon they still had no idea how long it would take. And they didn't bother to phone me and tell me that one of my perfectly good summer tires somehow had a huge slash in it and wasn't able to be put on. (Those summer tires were absolutely fine when we loaded them in the truck this morning) And of course they don't have any tires that they can replace it with (why would they? They're only a TIRE centre), so I have to drive away on my spare tire. I'm never coming here again, and I caution anyone who does. I will happily pay a bit more to have an appt, and a selection of replacement tires if necessary. This place is an absolute joke. read more
