Typical Costco. I appreciate associates walking around pre-scanning items for customers before arriving at check out. However the lines are still very long because of broken self checkout machines and lack of cashiers. The parking lot is huge. Exiting though is another story. Parking lot is a hot mess. Even though there are so many spots because it shares with home sense and other shops in the complex, people just do not know how to park. This location gets busy even on a weekday in the daytime. Most of the staff are friendly! I'm not sure if it's a requirement for them to ask if I'm an executive member or they wanted to make sure I was? It felt a little strange though and made me feel defensive even though I am and I go there twice a month. I get it a lot of people go to Costco. I do love the variety in cuisines that Costco has Korean, Indian, Greek, Italian etc which is such a plus when feeding a family of four or if we are hosting. We do enjoy the food court menu afterwards, strawberry smoothie and cheese pizzas are our go to! read more

My husband and I love shopping at Costco. Every time we visit a new place, we look for a Costco there. Sometimes, we find products that are not available at our Costco; that was the case this time. We found many Indian food items such as Mango Rasmalai, Milkcake sweets, Indyum sweets, pani puri, butter Chicken wraps, pav bhaji buns, kaju katli and burfi box, and 2 pack of Noga Alfonso mango lassi. I've never seen so many Indian food items in a non Indian store. It was a delight to see all these items and they were available at a very reasonable price. We ended up buying some of them, like the lassi, milkshake box and butter Chicken kati roll box. I wish our costco carried even half of these items. It was the weekend so the store was a bit crowded. The parking lot seemed full but we found a spot relatively quickly which speaks volumes. The returns experience was pleasant; the line moved quickly and I was able to return one of my items. I also learned that you cannot return liquor at a Costco location that doesn't sell liquor. The employees were helpful and nice. I wouldn't mind shopping here again the next time I'm in town. read more

Costco is a wonderful store. The EPSON ET-4800 printer is the WORST thing they sell. The printer has a TINY WINDOW in the front that you have to use to type in fax numbers, scans, or find general info. If the printer sits on a desk you have to bend down on your knees to read the tiny window. ALSO, the bottle of BLACK ink #522 I just bought was missing the little plastic gadget to control the flow. When I turned the bottle over to refill the printer the whole bottle of black ink came spilling out all over the printer, cabinet, carpeting, my hands, clothing , etc. DON'T BUY EPSON. They are EXPENSIVE and are NOT USER FRIENDLY. Good luck with cleaning up black ink from a faulty expensive cartridge. read more

I have been shopping at the east Hanover store for many years and have found that this store has changed so much for the worst. they show their new items that my daughter had seen and so far there is 4 items they show yet this store has none of them. they tell you when you call that only certain. stores have the product. but I have gone to bridgewater, Plainfield, union and a few others and none have these products. so why show them online when you don't have them? one of the items I was told are exclusive to certain stores? It's so nice to see that the crowds have thinned out after the holidays. Their usual bargains are still to be found, and it's great to be able to walk around to find the newer items. If I could give this Costco zero stars I would. Waited over three hours to get my tires changed even though they told me it would only be two. I have been a member of COSTCO for 20 years and today I had to have my card scanned and was questioned if it was my card. I fully understand that COSTCO needs to enforce people sharing their cards. But here are the problems associated with the policing of customers coming in the door. It slows up the entering and your employees are rude and are acting like the COSTCO POLICE. When I asked what this was about I was told to take it up with their manager, which indicates to me that management has put their employees in an awkward position and they are not happy. So, your employees are not happy, your customers are being treated like cattle being branded and the shopping experience has been ruined. Going forward WALMART is a better choice for my dollar and I will go without the $5 roasted chicken. COSTCO your stock is going up everyday and you are making million. CALL OFF THE DOGS!! read more

I'm in the area and needed to do a quick run of groceries and before I know it, I'm entering Costco. To my surprise, it was almost empty on Saturday afternoon. This never happens at my local Costco. Long story short, I was able to grab my usual items and more because of the relaxing atmosphere here. I didn't have any carts bumped into mines, no annoying customers double or triple parked their carts to grab some free samples, no crazy long lines for sample tastings, there's sales galore and their cashier has no lines! I was never a huge fan of Costco because I feel that if you were to compare pricing based on product, you wouldn't save much. Plus who the heck needs 10 pounds of mayo, right? I was wrong. As my family grew, so did my needs. I mean their bakery section is ridiculous! I could buy everything. Their organic meat selection has upped their game. Fruits and veggies are quality. Overall their organic availability is robust. I particularly like this location during off hours. You can buy basically anything here (a car, vacation, jewelry). So I've been to this Costco a few times and haven't had horrible experiences but given that they're far and few between being a single guy and not a parent with 5 kids I don't need to visit here too often thankfully. When I do though I am annoyed by a few things which reflects my review. For onei hate how hard it is to navigate the store, there are no signs like any regular supermarket saying bread, condiments, beverages etc. So unless you do there regularly you just wander all over like tourist hoping to find what you're looking for. The other thing that annoys me is how they don't take credit. I get they want their money upfront but I think most people who come here are gonna be dropping Benjamin or at least close to it so cash isn't what I'd rely on my visits here. It seems like I get to the register and I'm told "only Amex" or" all Credit except mastercard" or something to inconvience my trip. A decent Costco but I think I'll try another one and compare. read more

Someone posted this Costco is checking id's at checkout accusing corporate of being greedy. We are traveling from Michigan. They are checking id's there also. It isn't corporate greed. When you sign up for the annual membership, you are agreeing to 2 cards per household. They lose a ton of money from people giving non-members their cards to use. Membership is inexpensive! There is nothing like a good trip to Costco. Members only but all you need to do is sign up and pay the fee. The bakery is terrific and a must for their wonderful custom sheet cakes. You just can't beat the price. The meat department is wonderful. The precooked packaged food, one entree is better than the next. I love the sampling because there is always something new to try. Electronics, if you know your prices you will get a deal. Snacks for the kids can't be beat and don't get me started with the candy aisle. The Kirkland brand, the Costco generic, is great and the prices are great. If you have the space to store the oversized items it is worth the trip. Great Costco, horrible staff. As a loyal Costco fan - I just had to review this place to share with those interested and management (assuming they are open to customer feedback at this location.) As far as a Costco goes, this place is great. Great seasonal items and localized items to the cultures in the area. Where this specific Costco earns 1 star is when it comes to its staff. They are just rude and horrible. Not helpful - feel like they are doing you a favor (hello, my purchases pay your salary.) Many times when paying out, waiting to leave, or needing to return something - the staff at this location continues to emphasize that customers come 2nd. So often they prioritize their own conversations or needs - some should not be in front of customers - as they are on duty. I get it - it is NJ - I expect some rudeness - but Costco should not a good name at risk for many of the people who work there. Add that the parking lot is filled with cluless people who drive over spaces, just shy of causing accidents - avoid this specific Costco - if you can. Disappointying read more

Costco has been more than disappointing lately. Although they do have some specials, there aren't very many, like they used to have; you can often find better prices in the grocery stores. The chickens that draw people in to shop otherwise are now packaged in plastic bags and you really can't see what you are getting. Also, these bags aren't very good for storing the remainder in the fridge, so you now have to have a sufficiently sized container of your own to store the rest in. Also, they are so shorthanded (what I was told) that they don't even place your items in the cart at the checkout anymore. No self-check-out anymore and the lines are ridiculous. Prices are higher and higher; services are less and less. I used to stop in maybe once a week after work to pick up a chicken, etc., and now maybe once a month, if even. Thankfully, we have options as to where we can shop. Seems customers are no longer valued. read more

I have been to several Costco locations over the years and this one, while busy, is more sane than most. Parking is OK and most of the employees who work here are courteous and helpful. I especially like their no questions asked return policy. One thing I wish they sold here but don't is liquor. At other Costco locations the selection of Kirkland products on beer, wine and spirits is good and the prices even better. But not in East Hanover due no doubt to New Jersey's strange liquor laws limiting where alcohol can be sold. read more

This Costco doesn't have a gas station or sell liquor... however, you can get in and out faster than any other location and the customer service is always great! The lines move quickly and don't build up for long. I think Costco, the headquarters, thoroughly vets all the products that they carry... I have never been unhappy with a purchase - I have been happy with the quality and price of everything I've ever bought here, from electronics to food to cleaning supplies to clothing to health, pharmacy, and beauty products. 5 stars to Costco as a company... 10 stars to this location for efficient and friendly service and for the best prices and quality (and that's without the gas station too!) read more

April 5, 2023: looks like this Costco has new orders from corporate to check your membership card when you go to check out. If your name is not on the card, they turn you away and give you a very hard time. Looks like corporate just wants more membership dollars even though the card belongs to your husband or wife. They've never done this previously. Looks like corporate is just getting really money hungry in this poor economy and the normal working people suffer as always. Costco TIRE is your friend, but you have to be very patient with this friend. This review is only about the incredibly busy tire center. The whole reason to put up with the long waits at this place is their lifetime warranty. Your wheel has a slow leak or a flat? No problem, bring it in, they'll pull the tire off the rim, fix it properly and remount and *rebalance* the wheel, as they should, for exactly zero dollars and zero cents. Free! Something happens and you want the wheels rebalanced? Bring it in. Free! Ok, here they define "lifetime" as 60K miles, but that's more than I ever get from a tire. Of course the tradeoff is that the service is slow. Friendly yes, helpful yes, but SLOW. Basically they are overwhelmed by the customers and don't have the staff to keep up. On my last weekend visit the manager said he was two guys short. Once I thought sure, I'll come early - so I stood in line outside for half an hour waiting for it to open at 10, and then almost another hour inside. Really, charge your smart phone before you get here :) If you call ahead they'll tell you the wait time. I've bought at least four sets of Michelin tires here, basically whatever Consrs Reprts recommends. My size tires were almost always in stock the day I needed them, only once I had to wait a few days for more stock to arrive. The prices are very competitive especially if you use the coupon for $70 off four tires that regularly appears in the Costco coupon book. Mount & balance adds $15 per wheel. Nitrogen fill at no extra charge. Tip: drop off your car and go home, let them call you. You do not want to wait in the notably smelly tire center (seriously it stinks) for one minute longer than you have to, and how long can you shop in the warehouse anyhow? read more

Despite the lack of check-ins, I've actually been to this Costco multiple times over the years. In fact, this was the first branch I ever visited. PROS: -Although this Costco seems smaller than others, there are quite a few products I've only seen here--including but not limited to Smoked Fish Poke sets and various organic snacks. -Products are in good shape and of good quality when I'm here. Employees are working around the clock and constantly replenishing items, especially in the bakery section. -I love how everyone is aware of how crowded this Costco gets, but knows how to navigate and keep the aisles open. CONS: -No liquor on sale and no gas station. -Poorly designed and has probably outgrown the intended and expected foot traffic. Lines at the checkout area can extend through the clothing section, meaning other shoppers and their carts end up (unintentionally) blocking half the aisles their in. -Even with the hustle and bustle, you can still find parking. The downside is there is only one entrance and exit point; there is another exit, but you have to turn into the FairBridge Hotel (or whatever it's called) lot first and you cannot make a left turn. read more

Evelyn is Costco Optical made my day a lot brighter! When I hit 40 my 20/20 vision decided I needed a change. I always had amazing vision so kept thinking my eyes are only tearing up from seasonal allergies. Apparently when people kept asking me if I was okay because I was teary all the time I gave in and got glasses. When you go thru most of your life not wearing glasses you tend to be very hard on them. Needless to say I get my glasses repaired a lot which is why I love Costco Optical. Its affordable and they have repaired my poor abused glasses more times than I want to admit at no cost. Anyway this time they were broken beyond repair. The metal snapped near the hinge mostly from being bent back into shape. Luckly Costco had my frame in stock. In a matter of minutes I had purchased new frames. Evelyn popped my lenses in and I was on my way. I no longer need to wear my sunglasses at night. Costco Optical is so worth the membership! I've never had bad Optical service. They have a pretty big selection of frames. If you are not happy paying ridiculous prices for your glasses you should check them out. read more
