Tuesday night, I stopped into the Verona Amazing Savings. I was searching for shrink wrap/cellophane and bows for assembling a holiday gift basket. I've been to the East Hanover location, which is the store I usually go to, but this was my first time at the Verona location. This store is organized and well stocked. I had a few options in the gift wrapping aisle, and the prices were very good. The woman who rang me up at the register was nice also, and answered my question about their return policy (refund up to 15 days with receipt; store credit after 15 days). read more

This spot has a little of everything from glassware to toys, to home decor things. The place is well stocked. Though I didn't find anything here that I needed, it was a cool quick 10 minute stroll to see the place. read more

Please don't confuse this place with a dollar store. It is not. This is a discount store. For about 2 years, they had my favorite tank tops from Target for $1.99 vs the $9.99 that Target sold them for. Most recently, I picked up a sleeve of large togo coffee cups for $1.99 (they should have been over $10) There are a few things i'd never buy at a discount store - like make-up and food but it's only because I'm sure it's old. read more

Hours seem to always vary, specially around holidays. I have the worst timing. I check online and nothing was posted, get here and they're closed. Otherwise, inexpensive bargains keep me coming back. read more

Amazing Savings - Department Stores Near Me - Verona, New Jersey

This is honestly a really good store to find smaller knick knacks that you may not necessarily find in most stores. Everything is really organized and labeled appropriately. However, it is really hard to find someone to help you in the store if you need to read something or to figure out where something is located in the store. Also as the time changes throughout the year the hours of the store changes and this is not necessarily updated online but it is displayed on the front door of the stores so typically you won't know that the hours have changed unless you are at the store. It would be helpful if when you call the store if there are automatic line would tell you the updated since sometimes they may change so frequently. Most times the store is closed on Jewish holidays after sunset on I want to say it's Fridays and they'll have random nights where they're open because the sun sets earlier. read more

The wonderful staff at Amazing Saving are Orthodox Jews or dependent for transportation. They Live at least an hour away. So holiday for them it is imperative to be home.before sundown. read more

Scam artists, mislabeled items, buyer beware. I was out here a bit ago getting some toys for a kid's party when visiting family in NJ. It's better than a dollar store in that whoever does buying finds closeout deals and large lot-type deals to get deep discounts on branded stuff. But this time, not so good. Oftentimes there are items that are either pre-priced or have prices listed on the case. So that's what I expect to pay, right? Here, not so much. Lots of items are not priced, and when you go ask what it costs, good luck getting a straight answer. And when an item says 99 cents on the package, you'll probably end up paying $1.29. Arguing it with the cashiers doesn't work well either, even management won't work with you much. That's not how I play, that's not how I would run a business. So good luck not getting ripped off if you shop here, or just go shop somewhere else - your call. I won't be back at least. read more

My wife wanted to stop in to kill some time and I was not looking forward to venturing as it looked like a large dollar type store. I was surprised at the variety of items and even purchased a lap top cushion pad which was an incredible price of $6.99. Why I am giving such a high rating is based entirely on the employee who checked us out. She had a great smile asked how long we were married and even cracked a quick joke. Put a smile on both our faces and a great interaction. Unlike other stores that sell the same type of products this employee truly cared and gave us great service. I even watched her earlier help another customer the same way down an aisle. If we are back in the area I'm sure we will stop in just because of her. Great employee!!!! read more

You never know what you have until it's gone. Actually, I did know what I had before I moved to another state without any of these stores. :( I was able to help run very successful tricky trays (NJ peeps know what I'm talking about) thanks to this place; the variety of items, the low prices as well as quality. Most of our prizes were purchased here since it was difficult to collect as many donations as needed to run this type of event. Even with the initial expense of having to purchase prizes, our fundraiser brought in a lot of funding for a very worthy cause. On a personal note, I always made it a point to visit the store even when I moved an hour away from the closest one while still in NJ and now that I live over two hours away in another state, I always make a stop in when I go "home" to NJ. Finally, the staff has always been wonderful. Maybe I frequent too often because they got to know me? The management/owner just OK, not friendly. read more

Amazing Savings has some things at great prices, some things at on-target prices, and some things way overpriced. The set up reminds me of a Party City with tons of random stuff very close together and organized by category in each isle. They have a large selection of holiday decorations, wrapping, bags, etc. Overall I wouldn't go out of my way to buy anything here unless I needed seasonal items. read more

It is a great place with good stuff for less. You can basically buy anything you need for every single place in your house from the kitchen, bathroom to living room and kids rooms. They have everything you need in the kitchen for everyday use, cooking and baking as well. They have lots of great toys and books for kids, small and big containers of all kinds, school supplies and a huge selection of beautiful gift bags, boxes and wraps. That's what I usually go there for and get a huge gift bag for $0.99 or $1.50 while the same costs $5 And more at Kmart, Walmart or CVS. I go there for one thing and leave with bags filled with goodies for so little money it's ridiculous :)) They also sell some food and make up, but as one of the reviewers mentioned - it's old so try avoiding it. The only downside of this store is that the people who work there aren't too friendly and the store is closed on Saturdays and also closes earlier on Fridays (The owners are Jewish and celebrate their holidays). read more

Love this store. I can't get enough of it. The people are great. AND they do speak english. I have never had a problem being understood or understanding them. Prices are AMAZING. I visit the store 2-3 times a month just to see what new things they have. I only wished there hours were longer. I can't believe I had never been here before. They have tons of toys and kids' books, plus a lot of other stuff you didn't know you needed! Prices are great. One thing, though: prices for batteries seemed WAY too good to be true. Upon closer inspection, they are expired. Just make sure you know what you're buying. read more

i periodically take the11 bus and come here ,this store is great as you can get stuff as for your kitchen [example] for a dollar or slightly higher but it doesnt break your budget .ill be going here next month when i go to pet co to buy bird seed for chipper my keet. ill also have a slice of pizza ot two at anthonys pizza as its within the mall . i give this place an a+ but one word of caution if you see something buy it as this stuff does go fast and when you go back they change up their items . i reccommend this place for a quick gift as you dont pay an arm and a leg if u know what i mean! read more

I haven't been to the Verona store but I stop almost weekly at the Amazing Savings in Clifton, N.J. The store is very well maintained and is always backfilled. The folks work hard at the Clifton store to make sure that shelves are fully stocked. Merchandise is in new and prime condition and you can get some fabulous buys. I remember one of the first times I was in, I found an item and the price was outstanding. I happened to mention it to the owner and he said, "That's why we're called Amazing!" They have a fantastic selection of picture frames, kitchen items, especially open stock cookware. A great selection of decorative gift bags and whoa!!! you should see their beautiful decorative storage boxes. I can always find something at Amazing Savings and if you're looking for party items such as aluminum baking sheets, plastic food storage, styro plates and cups, cleaning supplies and pretty party items such as plastic knives, forks, decorative paper plates...this is your store.
