The store itself has a decent size, organized in its own disorganized way, and will probably have you waiting in line longer than you feel you should. This is not good customer service they should say or recommend that you do not have to do this in the future. I decided to join Costco because I've heard a few positive things about them. A couple being, they support Diversity, Equity & Inclusion where all people are valued and have equal opportunities. Also they pay their employees a living wage. I feel this is important in the climate we live in. I've been a Sam's Club girl for years (and still am) but my husband said he would pay for the membership. The membership is $65 for Goldstar, $130 for Executive....2% back on purchases. Check the website for details. This Costco is located at 740 Upper State Road in North Wales, Pa. We went on a Saturday afternoon it was sooooo busy. A line coming in the store and a line going out. I was comparing them to Sam's to see if it was better or worse. Unfortunately, it's a wash for me. They both have their strong points. Costco has a great meat selection, things I haven't seen at Sam's. Their bakery has lots of thing l would like to try. The prices are are about the same. But Costco is a little bigger, a little more to choose from. Only thing I didn't like was the crowd, just too many people. I felt rushed the whole time I was there. I even asked the cashier is it busy because it's Saturday and she said "No! It's busy everyday". I must say, the lines moved pretty fast. Because of the crowd I didn't look around as much as I would have liked too, but i did like the store. I'll definitely go back when I'm rested and have my sneakers on! We stopped to get a snack at the food court. You can go up and pay at the counter or use the kiosk which is faster to get your food. We just got a hot dog and soda for $1.50 (great buy). Went to Costco in North Wales yesterday and it was very typical. Nothing bad, just very busy as expected. I didn't have a bad shopping experience until after check out. I handed my receipt to one of the women by the door. She looked at it drew a line, and I put my hand out and she threw the receipt in my cart! Ignorant, ignorant slob! I handed the receipt to her....she wasn't kind enough to put it back in my hand. She did this to every person in her line! The other lady was very kind and friendly to the customers. This costco is on the Montgomeryville area and got a chance to stop after a party. The parking is dedicated to costco customers but will be a challenge to find a closer one. Typical costco, where you will be checked for membership as you enter. This is a huge warehouse. It contains electronics as you enter like TV, phones, monitors etc. Then, you will see seasonal items like grills, patio furniture, and holiday season items. The vegetables are kept in cold sections and have fruit options, too. Then, milk cheese and egg on one side. I am also surprised to see indian items like basmati rice and sona masoori rice. 10-6-23 Review of the new roast beef sandwich: very tasty Dijon mustard, skimpy on the roasted red peppers, super fresh ciabatta roll and mid dry roast beef... I wanted to love it , I didn't hate it but in the end I won't order it again. Fortunately there are a few solid local places where I can get fresh , store made or Boars head roast beef so the Costco beef was simply mid. The $10 price was just ok and not a normal Costco value. A $7.99 or $6.99 would be where it should be , 30-40% below market like the pizza and hot dogs would make it more attractive and it really wasn't as loaded with meat as I expected. If your considering trying this do it quickly, I don't think it's going to be on the menu very long. read more

I have been shopping at different Costco, which they are all pretty similar. However, some Costco do stock up on different items and maybe at different time too. This location may not be the closest distance for me, but sometimes they carry some items that I don't see at the other Costco that I normally shop for. Throughout the month, they have different sales for different items. I feel like I always ends up coming to Costco twice a month due to the different sales. I enjoyed my time here. As Costcos go, this is the best of the three I routinely visit in terms of cleanliness, crowdedness and overall quality of merchandise. Lawrenceville, NJ and Warrington, PA, have their attractions, but both of those operations are more like playing bumper cars with those oversized shopping carts in the aisles and in the parking lots. It is surprising that these warehouses in relatively close proximity to each other often have very different inventory. While Warrington was short on muffins beyond corn and chocolate, North Wales had lemon ice topped and coffee cake alternatives. Where Lawrenceville had only Kirkland frozen peas, here there were greenies from Denmark. Couldn't find the healthy butter substitute, nor my favorite cookies anywhere this week. I don't love these post steroidal airplane hangers, but they do serve a purpose. Some things it pays to buy in bulk, or take advantage of special deals and pick up their roast chicken; but the "eyes bigger than the stomach" phenomenon often takes over and too often it is impossible to consume the quantity obtained while it is fresh or still desired. It goes without saying to never enter on an empty stomach. However, with practiced self control, this amusement park of a supermarket is entertaining and worth the price of admission. read more

It's a big box shopping experience, so I'll stick to the basics: The store is typically very clean and well stocked. Prices, obviously, are good. I get all my paper products here and have, on occasion, gotten remarkable deals on beautiful mirrors, reliable electronics, and mountains of athletic socks. The parking lot is always a train wreck. Overcrowded, badly laid out and flooded with pedestrians. Drive through it at your peril. I've never engaged with employees outside of the checkout line, so I can't speak to how they handle questions or if they can be helpful in finding things. The checkout lines, often long, seem to move quickly. I wish the store itself was bigger or the isles were less crowded. Most often, the place seems packed and can quickly begin to feel claustrophobic. I like the deals; hate the crowds. read more

If there was ever a live definition of people hating their job, this location would be EXAMPLAR. From the sample ladies to the guy at self check out, employees at this location are just rude, off putting and dismissive leaving you to wonder if they are secretly being forced to work there or if they have staff meetings before their shifts that put them in a sour mood. What finally prompted me to leave this review was an incident that recently occurred when a lobster ravioli sample lady was rude to my sister and several other customers. It was a dramatic scene that could have escalated very quickly. Luckily everyone just left her alone. The food court employees are always a pleasure to interact with which is surprising because I feel like they do a lot of running around and interacting. My two stars are solely for them. As for selections available, you can mostly find what you are looking for but lately their meat selection has been very low and lack luster. Just brace yourself in the event they have moved something or you just can't seem to find a certain item after exploring the store. Your kind requests for direction to said item will be met with disdain, anguish and a large size of attitude. These interactions in itself make me want to leave and go to BJ's or Sam's as I have memberships there as well and know FOR CERTAIN the atmospheres at both locations are way better. I only go to this location when I'm in this area and I try to be in and out. They have a gas station as well so this usually draws me in as well but if I can avoid it, I do. Costco in general carries good items that give you a good bang for your buck. I do appreciate the value of the goods they have and how they rotate and introduce new things. This location however ruins this experience with the quality of some of their staff. It may just be something about the area because the customers can be just as ridiculous. If you're waiting for a roasted chicken, a line will form and more times then not, another CUSTOMER will deem herself the president of the line dictating who can go and who must wait. It's usually someone who was not amongst the original people patiently waiting. It's usually someone who comes along who causes confusion and agitated everyone else. I would advise either going during the week early in the day or right before rush hour as these have been the calmest times without the chicken line leaders. If you are in a bind and can be in and out, your experience can be tolerable. However if you need assistance of ANY sort or want to avoid obnoxious shoppers who have nothing better to do than spend their days in Costco trying to regulate OTHER CUSTOMERS, I would go to another location. I have visited many other locations and they have WAAAAAAAAAAY better service and fresher selections. read more

I've been to Costcos in four states and the District of Columbia within the past month. I like their stores. However, I've had two experiences at this location this week that are inexcusable and that might be problems with stores across the broader region. First: DO NOT GET YOUR COVID VACCINE HERE. While it is standard practice across pharmacy chains (CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, etc.) in the area to provide replacement vaccine cards, and while I believe Costco does this elsewhere, here they won't and will act like you're a criminal for asking. After acting like I was trying to run a forgery ring, they said that I should be using the Vaccine Record app, as if it's up to me what sorts of vaccine verifications are required by different venues. For the next bad experience, I had spoken to a Costco in a different region near my work about adding a second person to my household. We weren't going to be able to both be at the same location in person, which wasn't going to be a problem. Since we're all traveling for Christmas, I then contacted the Costco where the other person would be. No problem there. I figured that I could stop by this location while "home for the holidays" and get it taken care of. However, I learned that here they are unable or unwilling to provide the same service that Costcos a couple of states south or west of here can provide. I only even had the idea because the customer service rep at another Costco suggested it and walked me through all of the steps. I started cancelling my Costco membership today over the horrific service this location provided before remembering that I usually go to locations elsewhere that are great. We visited Costco today at the North Wales store. We filled up our gas tank for $3.19 per gallon. I wanted to walk through Costco taking my time to see what the store was offering. They have eyewear and hearing centers. They offer testing and fitting for each of these services. The electronics section was full of just about anything you need. TV's of all sizes. We saw an LG 86" TV on sale for $999.99. The last time we bought a tv we purchased a 50" and if I remember correctly our Sony was that price. Do you need a computer? They have them and then some. Apple iPhones and Macs were plentiful. Costco has clothing at great prices. Some name brands are available. Nice looking hoodies for &9.99. Bulk food products throughout the store. It is $60.00 to be a member. My wife shops here from time to time. We recovery the fee with discounted merchandise without any problem. Today was Saturday and as expected Costco was busy. We moved around fairly easy. Check out was as fast as I have been through. I enjoyed my experience at Costco. There are many areas in the store I have not reported on in this review like fresh meats, seafood, frozen foods, bulk soda, juices, and many drug store items. I recommend Costco. Most of my Family are COSTCO Members. Over the years, we've discovered a LOT we love, but also a LOT we find annoying. Everything in life is a compromise, as is the choice to pay for a Membership for the privilege to shop at COSTCO. When they have the items we want, Costco is a GOOD VALUE. The 40-Count water pack is the hands-down best deal ANYWHERE. The large, cooked chickens are a "Gimmie" at $4.99 The Good side of shopping here is limited by the small number of brands they carry. As a former Contractor, I used to save BIG on my heavy-duty Contractor trash bags. They have been discontinued, so back to full retail at a Big Box store. I also used to get the Industrial Size Windex at great savings, but THAT ALSO has been dropped. Every time we shop, it's a CRAP-SHOOT trying to find the brands you got on the last trip, and also attempting to locate where they have (For NO good reason) moved that product to. I now ask the C/S folks: "WHERE ARE YOU HIDING THE....." As I noticed by the large number of "ONE STRAR" ratings for Costco's External Services/ "Member Benefits" I TOTALLY agree. I was buying a new car, and my Wife insisted I try the "NEW CAR" service here. I spent a half-hour filling out a DETAILED query for the program. I listed the EXACT vehicle I wanted, with EVERY option I wanted, in the ONLY color I wanted. It was very specific, and I'd already shopped, and had been informed this would need to be a Factory Order, due the specific wants of my new ride. We planned to wait the 8-12 weeks for delivery of this custom-ordered vehicle. Ten minutes later, I got a call from a Dealer in the next State over (New Jersey) and the voice on the phone states: "HEY! WE HAVE YOUR CAR SITTING RIGHT HERE!! CAN YOU PICK IT UP TOMORROW??" Quite a surprise, since I'd searched online, and this unit did not exist at ANY Dealer within 250 miles. I asked him to tell me what "My CAR" was? Wrong Model/ wrong options/ wrong color/ too far away to drop it off for repairs. Other than THAT, Costco was the BEST place to get a DEAL on a new car. It became obvious that COSTCO had a LOOSE network of Dealers with some agreement, NOT a "Factory-Arranged Buying Program" that would allow me to get what I WANTED, at a fair price. When contacted as to why I didn't buy, the COSTCO Auto Program Rep said: "Oh, O.K." and hung up. It seemed she knew it was a joke, and was tired of hearing the same customer stories. Same story on the TIRE SHOP. We always ride on Michelins, and when it was new tire time, my Wife again thought I needed a DEAL from COSTCO. I'd walked past the Tire Shop 100 times, and was never impressed at anything I'd seen in there. Plus, I couldn't figure out how to actually ENTER. The entire area is surrounded with yellow Crime Scene tape, to keep the "Waiters" at bay. After reading all the ONE STAR Tire Shop review horror tales, I bought 8) new Michelins at a REAL tire store. I paid about the same as the COSTCO "On Sale" prices, and had professional installation, with NO issues on either vehicle. COSTCO is a place to save, if you use bulk amounts of paper towels/ toilet paper (EXCEPT during COVID!) and wax fire logs. The balance is looking at all the now-discontinued items we still need, the increasing Membership fees (Next Year) and the all but useless "Programs" like Car Discounts, and the Tire Shop, that in theory are super, but in reality are best-left ignored. read more

Good Costco! Their customer service section is always busy but they are definitely helpful. You will have to wait because they don't have a lot of staff in their customer service section but they do their best and also try them best to assist in resolving your issue. This Costco is clean (as clean as it gets for all Costco) and has a variety of things to buy! The food is here is delicious too! There is a little shop near the checkout station and where you can get pizza, hot dog, and more. Their French fries are delicious, pizza is cheap and GOOD! The hot dogs are even CHEAPER and come with a drink! I tried their açaí bowl for the first time and it was surprisingly really really good too! When I bought it I was expecting a ice cream like bowl as it is not an açaí shop, but the açaí that came with it was really good and the oats and grains were well toasted with almonds and banana chips! 6-29-24 Several months ago I decided to get carpeting for the second time through Costco Montgomeryville Pa. I figured the this would be a good experience since 4 yrs. ago I purchased this way with no problems. Well, needless to say this turned out to be a very unpleasant , disastrous experience. The " best crew" nicked walls, window sills, and door frames while moving furniture and chipped baseboard woodwork installing the carpet. All of the rooms to be carpeted were Professionally painted several weeks prior. Carpet Fair was contacted, pictures were taken, and an estimate for repairs from my Professional painter was obtained. I was then told that the repairs were only to be made by the painter Carpet Fair provided. I then contacted Costco Corporate and after many disagreed conversations, I had to use their painter. I was really "trapped"! The painter came an hour late, vehicle trouble, but did call "5 minutes before his scheduled time"! I provided the blue painters tape and even the hair dryer for drying the spackle. He was done in 2 hours, which included several trips to Home Depot and Lowes and included his lunch break. This guy and his helper were far from professional. After being a loyal customer of Costco from the day Montgomeryville opened, I was truly disappointed of this outcome. So tired of being harassed by workers about my Costco card photo. They never believe it's me and they laugh at me. I don't pay for this membership to be ridiculed for a black and white photo that COSTCO took of me years ago. It just happened to me at this location at the self checkout area. The clerk standing there asked me to see my ID while I didn't see them ask anyone else in line for theirs. Why am I picked out? I think the parking situation is a little better here than at the King of Prussia location, and interestingly enough, it seems some of the prices are different. I'm a bit surprised by the strongly (even passionately) worded reviews, both positive but especially negative. First, this is a popular store, for obvious reasons. So yes, the parking lot can be crowded. I address this by parking on the outer fringes of the lots. (The walk is good for me at 65, and there's lots of room.) By the way, I frequently take a handicapped person to shop with me, and never have a problem dropping her off or getting a handicap space. There is always a scooter to ride; a couple times a you g person went to the lot to bring one in for her. Yes,the customer service lines can get long, especially around the holidays. They move quickly. Return policies are extremely liberal. Generally speaking, the store has downsized the bread and baked goods area, with fewer fresh selections. (This has been accompanied by a significant expansion of snack foods, like chips, popcorns, etc.) That said, I have never had a problem getting a loaf of bread (many selections), rolls, or a dessert. Yes, custom cakes must be ordered. But there are always enough cakes, pies, etc., to get dessert for a family meal or event. Meats and fish selections are outstanding. Fruit selections are very good. Vegetable selections are rather poor; not much selection and a very small area--basically a small cold room, with a stand for tomatoes/cucumbers outside. If you're looking for a nice array of good veggies, this is not a one stop shop; I usually head up to Wegman's to supplement. This store "gives up" a lot of food space to clothing, household products and durables (everything from toys and books to seasonal products and hardware). My experience is that BJs is just the opposite. I am probably in the group that would prefer more food, and less hardware or clothing or "stuff," but what they have is usually very good, changes frequently, and covers a lot of bases. In the meantime, you can reliably get great, inflation busting deals on excellent products: baking supplies, dairy and meats, olive oil (including Phillipo Berio Extra Light-just the best), roast chickens, cheeses and lunch meats, paper and cleaning products, pet supplies, grains and essential canned goods (like tomatoes). No store is perfect, and this Costco isn't either. It's a warehouse store, so it's not a "one stop" shop, quite likely. But theprices are great, lines move quickly, employees are friendly and helpful, and it's clean. So my verdict: it's definitely an above average "warehouse" store. read more

Today I was tested for hearing loss. Annalise gave me a thorough test that showed I had some loss but Annalise said it was not sufficient to require hearing aids. She could just as easily said I needed aids and charged me $1600. However, her integrity, as well as Costco's , exceeded what could be corporate greed. I will be tested in the future and, I assume, I will eventually need hearing aids. You can be sure I will go to Costco when that days comes. read more

THIS IS ONLY FOR THE TIRE SERVICE The discounts and prices are great but the service is very poor. I came to get my tires that I bought at Costco balanced and rotated. My first visit was that I may have to wait 3 hrs. So I decided to make an appointment in two days. When I came back in two days, I had to wait over 30 minutes for someone to attend me. Finally a technician helped and waited for my car and sat at the bench. About few minutes later, a gentleman with a baby walked in to get the same service. The service man in the white shirt asked him if he made an appointment. The man with the baby said no. But he tells him to pull his car to the front of the garage door to be service right away. Remind you, I made an appointment and waiting. But this guy with a baby got the same service without waiting. Unbelievable. I have been waiting for my car for two hours. I hate this tire service. Ship here often... The only reason for the extra, second star is because it's Costco. This is the worst one in the area. Used self checkout the other day because the lines were so long. Rang up my 2 items, then had to wait 5 minutes for the attendant to figure out that it needed receipt paper, ask the CS people where the receipt paper was, FIND the receipt paper (which was exactly where he spent time looking beforehand), and replace it. It would have been faster to wait in line. Today, went to the CS counter less than 2 hours after they opened, to cash my rewards certificate. Told that they are waiting for someone to put more money in, since he didn't have enough, and that I would have to wait in line at another register. It's, $240, for goodness sake.
