4/22/26- we made a quick run to Costco for a couple items and saw they had a new sundae at the snack bar: Caramel Churro. Your choice of chocolate, vanilla or swirl soft serve with caramel sauce and these super yummy cinnamon sugar chunks on top. It's divine! Last week they had a mint one I didn't get to try but I wasn't about to pass up a churro sundae tonight. Pro tip: go to Costco in the evenings. About my favorite corporation. This organization and this site just does things right efficiently and ethically. I can only say great things about this place. I have never got any product that has been subpart. The purchasors for the corporation just Excel. I believe they are given a mission to purchase inventory with the well-being of their customers in mind. Once there was a recall and Costco was days ahead of the announcement to the general public. That created such a positive impression that will last with me. The employees beyond being efficient seem to really enjoy working here and I understand the environment fosters positive worker satisfaction. Then there's Costco towing the line trying to keep costa down even advocating against the government to accomplish this for its customers and the shareholders. I will be a loyal customer for the rest of my life as long as things continue to operate the way they do. And then grabbing a hot dog combination or rotisserie chicken that has NOT increased in price for years if not decades is just fantastic and about unheard of anywhere else . Today I'm here to get a quick bite of $1.50 hot dog combination where they recently added deli mustard as an option. As a price performer almost impossible to beat. read more

I love going to club Costco in winston! Firstly the new "VIP" early entry at 9am makes me feel like I'm on the red carpet and oh so important. Scanning my executive membership card like I'm an A list celebrity. Nice touch Costco! I do wish they did samples during this time, maybe caviar and champagne? Haha This store is so clean, staff is friendly and helpful and layout is good. The buggies ALWAYS roll well and don't squeak, big plus. Only complaint is sometimes the produce area is lacking. Been a few times and a brand of salad mix will all be bad or the strawberries are all not doing so hot. Keep up the good work club Costco! read more

So I went into the big box as partnof a job assignment, it really puts you in a weird mood. Costco is a big box of mass crazy consumerism. A lot of people push their buggies around acting like they have to get to the items before you do because it's the end of the world. Even the lighting causes you to feel like you're in a different space on Earth. The employees were all super super nice and cheerful, almost like their jobs were fun! You could almost spend a few hours in there and get full of food from all the samples but the people that give out the samples don't work for Costco; it's an outsourced agency. These are mostly retired people or individuals that can't work a 40-hour week everyday which is really nice; I met some interesting senior people. But I really could not justify having a Costco membership, it's basically the same items that you can get at Dollar General, Walmart or Bucees except everything is triple sized, even the buggies. They do sell alcohol but DO NOT give alcohol samples haha. For that, go to Total Wine. read more

First off, I really like Costco stores. I've noticed they definitely are not all the same. Sure the food courts all have the same items, but its the products carried in the store that differ. Everyone has items they know they can always find. But as said, they don't all carry the same items. I've been looking for Refried Beans. After at least 10 visits, I've come to the conclusion, this store will never carry them. Mountain Dew is another item not carried. Overall, despite my minor gripes, i like the store. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Go in with a short list, and come out with more than you imagined you needed. read more

This is a great place to shop and get a good deal. Their food area is all in one part of the store which makes it easy to shop. Do NOT order appliances from this company if you need them installed! They use a third party installer who has absolutely no respect for the customer's time. We ordered a microwave and when they came to install it, it was dented. We asked for an exchange. The installer went ahead and uninstalled the existing broken microwave and scheduled the installation of the new microwave the following week. When the installer showed up the following week, he came to uninstall the microwave (that wasn't there anymore) but did not have the new microwave! This was all despite clearly telling the individual via text message we didn't need an uninstall but just the install of the new mircowave. When I called corporate, they said "there's nothing we can do. You'll have to wait another week." I took a day off work for nothing. I asked for a full refund and went to a local company who got me a microwave installed in less than 24 hours. read more

Costco has become one of my favorite retailers. Easy returns, fast check out, and there is always a great selection of fun new products to try but they keep the regulars too. Great values on gift cards, cake for a crowd, rotisserie chicken and pantry staples. I've recently discovered the eye care center and pharmacy too... This is still the best Costco. I'm not in Winston-Salem daily anymore, but if my wife and I can find an excuse to be there, and also hit the Costco on our journey, we do it. Might be just as simple as trying a restaurant we haven't been to, then a Costco run. This one is just a more enjoyable experience than the Greensboro store. There's nothing wrong with Greensboro, it just has a LOT more people. Since my original review, the volume at this Costco has picked up some. I think that has to do with the fact Costco continues to be a company with a sterling reputation, taking care of their employees, customers, and by extension... their business model works and makes things excellent for shareholders. They are deserving of their reputation as a company to emulate, and are rightfully a leader in business. Even though a few perks have disappeared over time (still waiting on the return of sauerkraut for the hot dogs, so I don't feel like a child eating a giant hot dog with nothing on it) I am a bigger fan of Costco now than I have ever been. I have recently been going to Costco, as my partner has a card and prefers it over the Sam's Club experience. We certainly appreciate the meat and cheese section much more than we do at Sam's Club. I appreciate the diversity and variation of items and things, but today I couldn't find the regular tortilla chips. Maybe they were out, as I seriously doubt that they carry the standard tortilla chip in that massive store. I was able to find "grain-free" ones, but I was looking for the classic, and they didn't have it. The one downside is that this location is bustling. I have been here twice, at very different times, and every time this place is packed. Maybe if you were to get here when they open that would be a solution? But, otherwise, prepare to wait and move around people. read more

I have grown to love Costco, and it's not just for the affordable yet high-quality gasoline. If you know the right time to go (in the mornings on a weekday), it's a really pleasant place to browse. Near Christmas on a weekend, not so much -- you live and learn. Anyway, they have a fabulous wine selection, along with basic athleticwear, and home goods (check out the pans and dishes!) My dog, Leo, loves the Kirkland canned food, which is more affordable that any mid-tier option at your local pet store. I take a friend with me occasionally to get their paper items (toilet paper, paper towels, and tissues). They're so soft! read more

I went to Costco's to get a new card, ask a question about the. Costco check sent near renewal time and then shop. The staff were very respectful and assisted me to my satisfaction. I was able to obtain a handicapped cart in spite my arrival at 3pm. There are times when I have shopped at other stores when Carts were not recharged or unavailable. I order a full pepperoni pizza when I walked in to Costco and 20 minutes later they just started my pizza.

This review has nothing to do with the shopping side of Costco. No, I'm just here to preach about the pepperoni pizza. Two bucks gets you a wedge of pizza big enough that it only feels right to eat it folded in half. Nothing on that piece of pie is healthy, and there will be grease, but I know of no place in the area where $2 will get you a good lunch. The dough is a little heavy for me, but that's probably the right choice due to the rendered grease. The sauce is flavored surprisingly well and there's enough present. Plenty of pepperoni slices are on each wedge as well. Even better: a quarter slipped into a nearby machine will reward the purchaser with a chilled bottle of Kirkland water. A full meal for less than three bucks. I'm maybe a bit too picky about hot dogs, for I haven't been as pleased with Costco's value minded hot dog deal. The lack of slaw and chili probably contribute to my less glowing view of the sausage. But that's okay. The pizza and water suit me just fine. #cheapbastard read more

The staff at the WS store is so friendly and helpful...even when the store is busy, every associate greets you with a smile and willingness to make sure you find what you need. Everything is clean and organized. This store has a great selection of clothes. They're ready to eat meals are tasty and the meat selection is top notch. Memberships/Returns: Had a great experience here when getting my new card. Quick service, friendly workers, and very knowledgable. Never had to return anything but I have never seen a very long line at memberships. Gas: Probably one of the smallest Costco gas stations I've ever seen, but I've never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes even on a very busy day. There are workers walking around to make sure everything working fine and guiding traffic as needed. Also seen workers help some elderly people or people who aren't too tech savvy which is very nice. Food court: One of my FAVORITE parts of Costco, nothing can beat that $1.50 hot dog and soda. Chicken bake is also great and flavorful but can sometimes be salty, and the soft serve is also great. Love that they have self-order kiosk (card only) which has made the process so much faster. Actual wholesale: Honestly a very normal Costco with a huge parking lot. Very big but great layout, easy to navigate, obvious whats on sale and isn't on sale. Samples here and there. Checkout can be brutal on busy days but since they introduced self-check outs for less than 20 items it's been a lot faster. Overall no real complaints. read more

We are loyal Costco customers for two decades, we started using the optical department in Winston Salem, NC two years ago. During that time I have broken my frames five times with script and sunglasses. A couple weeks ago I went there to pick up my new frames and they could not get the lenses in the new frames. Three different people tried so I ended up getting a new script with different frames. They kept my defective frames for refund that needed approval from the Manager who was not on site, so I had to return. After 4 trips all in they said they did not have my defective frames and could not return my money. I have spent a lot of money with their optical but no more. Good Luck! read more

Big fan of Costco in general. From toiletries to rotisserie chicken to home furnishings to wine, they have everything! Love stopping in here on Sundays to get our rotisserie chicken for a few of the coming week's lunches/dinners and trying some new things out thanks to their variety of samples. Other than the rotisserie chicken our staple foods from here are the berries, salad mixes, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, Tyson grilled chicken strips, Jones turkey sausage, and cauliflower rice. Can't go wrong with any of their desserts either like the chocolate chip cookies, apple pie and cheesecakes! We've actually purchased several things for our home that are great quality including a weight rack, desk, book shelf, tv stand, outside umbrella, desk chair, beds (queen bed is very comfy!), beach chairs and ceiling lights (just to name a few things). We always stock up on our toiletries here as well as shampoo, conditioner, contact solution and Emergen-C. They have a great variety of protein shakes/powders and bars too. I always enjoy shopping this location. I've never had issues finding a parking spot and although they are busy you move around the store easily and there is a short wait at checkout. They carry a lot of organic options which is always my preference. Prices on organic produce is much better than in the grocery stores. Gas price is around $.20/gallon cheaper which accounts for a long wait at their pumps. While not all items are a notable savings, the deals make the membership price work for us....especially if you are close enough to shop there on a regular basis. read more

Lines are long and the self checkout is not a fun process, most of the item we buy here are large and they make you take everything out of the shopping cart in order to scan them! I've been a Costco member for 2 years now and I'm never turning back! The value and customer service at the Winston location is unmatched by other wholesale clubs. Even during the COVID pandemic I was able to get toilet paper and paper towels at this location, as well as a huge slice of pizza at the food court. Don't sleep on their bakery section, I love to pick up a pack of their muffins and freeze them, no way I could eat them all in a week as they are HUGE. Some other favorites of mine at Costco include the frozen cream puffs, spinach and artichoke dip as well as the Kirkland signature gummy vitamins. Although this store is huge and overwhelming inside, I've never had an issue getting in and out in a timely manner with help from the great staff that works there. read more

Costco is great. Winston-Salem or Greensboro, I can't say I prefer one store over the other. As other Yelpers have mentioned, this Costco is a bit smaller than other Costco stores around the country. My observation is based upon comparisons with a couple different Costco stores in metro Atlanta. Winston's Costco is located not far from Hanes Mall and I-40 exit 189 (US 158, Stratford Road). I've been visiting this Costco on and off for the better part of the last 15+ years and it is as reliable and popular as always. I like going to Costco to stock up on household supplies and packaged and frozen foods. I like the Kirkland Signature brand. I'm a big fan of the Kirkland Signature 13-gallon trash bags with drawstrings. They are durable, convenient, and economical. After discovering these bags, I feel like I get ripped off if I buy kitchen trash bags from anywhere else. I also like the Kirkland Signature Fruit & Nut Bars. These are a tasty, easy-to-transport, and relatively healthy snack for when I'm at work or playing golf. The Kirkland Signature Atlantic Salmon (frozen) is excellent. The fillets are boneless and easy to prepare for simple meals. (For years, I switched back and forth between the C.Wirthy & Co. frozen salmon fillets from Sam's Club, but now only get Costco's salmon.) There is a smorgasbord of selection in the frozen/refrigerated food and drink aisles. Examples of items I've purchased include bulk packs of: frozen pizza, yogurt, egg rolls, chicken wings, chicken thighs, coconut water, Naked juices/smoothies, pasta (ravioli), and fish other than salmon such as mahi-mahi, tuna, and tilapia. Salmon is still my favorite. The produce selection is fresh, but I tend to stay away since I'm unable to consume the large quantities of fruits/veggies before the goods perish. Costco is also good for electronics (e.g. TVs), toiletries (e.g. toothpaste, mouthwash), and even vitamins. I bought my first iPod at Costco. My mom bought her Vitamix blender from Costco. My dad uses the VHS-to-DVD service at the Costco Photo Center to preserve our family's ancient home videos. Service is fine. I can't recall ever having a significant issue here. The checkout lanes can get backed up during the weekend (peak time), but the staff members generally work pretty efficiently. read more
