We stopped in this brasserie without a reservation and were surprised as to the quality of the food here. It is a chain with locations throughout the UK. Since we did not have reservations, they said we only had 1 1/2 hours to have our meal. That was OK with us as the night was rainy and pretty miserable outside. The meal was very nice for a place in SOHO, no reservations and in the theatre district. We had the Bisque soup as a starter, and for the mains we had the stuffed endive salad and salmon. All was delicious however the salmon could be cooked a little less. The service was good and attentive - we never felt that we were ignored. I think this was the location I went to...it was in an alleyway, not open to public vehicles, and was a nice place to grab a meal. My friend and I were looking for a breakfast spot in London, and it seems like nowhere opens before noon. We got here around 11:30AM, and they were still on full breakfast. The waiter had to ask to make sure breakfast was okay for us. Umm...yeah. Though McDonalds is on lunch already. Imjustsayin The food itself was pretty solid. It wasn't something stellar, but wasn't bad at all. The wait staff were really great, and checked in with us a few times to make sure we were okay. Originally, we were seated in the middle area, but my paranoia of having a back open to the rest of the restaurants kicked in. Staff were great about letting us move, though they were really confused when we left. I don't think it was shared to other staff, so our food and people kept going to the table we vacated. I only ate here because it was close to the office, and this was basically a work lunch. While the setting is nice, the food is pretty nasty. The Grilled Salmon (chargrilled salmon with ratatouille and a lemon juice and olive oil dressing) was salty and dry, like eating sour, cured fish with none of the freshness. The service was pretty horrendous too, even when we made it clear we were in a rush. With so many restaurants on this street alone, skip Cote. read more

Walked in alone for a quick dinner! They offer a set menu at 12-7pm on weekdays(2 curses- 12.5£/3 courses -13.95£) you can choose from 6 choices of starters and mains which is quite nice. "Caramelised onion and cheese on a bread"as a starter was just simple and easy but not that bad. "Traditional French Cottage Pie" was great. The beef inside and tomato sauce went really well together.The braised peas which came with the pie was also well cooked and flavourful. There was no 'wha' but nice and calm atmosphere with well decorated interior, a good price... just satisfied me! It's easy to walk in even alone and there are this branches all over London. The branch of Côte that is located on Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia is a perfect spot to meet up with friends in the West End. It's easy to get to from most parts of London, it usually has room if you haven't previously booked a table, and after dinner there are a lot of great pubs and drinking locales right in the neighborhood. This is a French bistro and a good one at that. It looks attractive in its chic minimalistic way. Their fixed price menu is good value for money in London and the selections are consistently tasty. I had an excellent steak frites tonight. The service has always been friendly and this time we had a really cool and extremely attentive waitress from Bretagne who seemed to enjoy conversing with us in French. The ambience, the food and wine, and the staff friendliness made Côte a fine choice for a few school friends getting back together. read more

I do go to cotes quite a lot for dinner and always really enjoy their food and you can get a good price with their fixed menu before 7 In particular their duck is good! Also tried their charcuterie board recently for starter which was so good especially their duck rillette and smoked duck slices Also love their warm sour dough here and my dad raves about their steak! Puddings I always find are a bit of a let down but their chocolate bombe is pretty indulgent A friend and I came to this cote for a Sunday breakfast which we both enjoyed (not 4* but food quality here is always good) I had croissant fruit yog and a coffee and friend had croque Monsieur. We also both got a mimosa The nice thing was being able to sit out on the street and watch the world go by I prob would go back for breakfast but other places on my list first I'd return any time for dinner read more

This will not be a great review for a very specific reason: I had an allergic reaction to the water glass. Yeah, not even joking. One can only assume the glass itself had come sort of chemical residue left on it which is not good. The food itself was good, not the best I have ever had but good none the less. The prices were a bit inflated for what a person ordered and the ingredients, but I am assuming you are paying more for the location and ambiance. The staff are plentiful and friendly, which was a great bonus but sadly I am afraid my review is tainted due to the fact that my face swelled. Sweet and unpretentious place that pays attention to the smallest details. Even the humble breakfast menu feels like a treat. I know, because on a recent visit, we wound up at Côte *twice* in the span of a week. Maybe it was the perfectly cooked eggs, or the flaky croissants, or the smooth lattes, or the luxurious-tasting smoked salmon, or the addictive jam that no one could translate. (Turns out "myrtilles" are blueberries; thanks, Google!) The space is a little generic-looking (it was too blustery to use the attractive outdoor seating), but our server was so warm and friendly that we felt immediately welcome. Just fine - neither bad nor good - this was one of the few options open for lunch on a holiday. From noon til 7 there is a fixed price menu with two or three dishes for 12 or 13 quid. This was perfect for a group of friends out shopping for the afternoon. Stuff was attentive and friendly, although service was a little bit slow. Food was fine. I wanted to like this place, really. Especially because it was the third attempt to get brunch that day. (Place #1 had an unexpected 45 minute wait. Place #2 combined a tiny kitchen with pistachio-based dishes; given that my friend is deathly allergic, we decided it best not to risk her life over brunch.) The menu looked promising, and I figured it was a growing chain, so it had to be decent. Unfortunately, at least on that day, I was wrong. We ordered a goats cheese salad to split for an appetizer, mussels and fries for me, and a steak with fries for her. And then we waited. And waited. And waited some more. We eventually called over our waitress, who said it was "coming, soon", and gave us free soda refills while we waited. 45 minutes after ordering (and what felt like an eternity because we were starving), our salad arrived. It was tasty and the best part of the meal. Within moments of our salad arriving, I saw what looked to be our mains being carried over by another server. Our server went over to the guy, stopped him, and he turned around and the mains disappeared. But after we were done with the salad, we waited, and waited, and waited again for the mains. 20 minutes or so this time. Again, one curt "they'll be out soon" from the waitress. If the plates had finally arrived and been as good as the salad, this wouldn't have ended up as a 2 star review. However, my friend's steak was nowhere close to medium; it was clearly very undercooked. She reluctantly returned it, only to have it come back completely charred. At which point she sighed defeatedly and we went ahead with the meal. My mussels were unmemorable, though at least the fries on both dishes were good. I might be willing to give this chain another try, but definitely not this branch of it. Charlotte Street has a ton of other good options (shout-out to Obika!); I'd recommend going to one of those instead. read more

Asked for steak rare. It came out well done so sent it back. The next steak was stone cold and was completely raw, again sent it back. Third steak came out welldone again so returned it. The dauphinous potatoes on the plate was basically the size of a grape, absolutely ridiculous. The manager told me to chose a different meal which is unacceptable. I replied that I would cook the steak myself if they couldn't do it. I then chose a completely different meal as they wasn't accommodating what I asked for. I asked for a side portion of dauphinois as I knew that what came out previously wasn't even a portion size. A further 15 minutes later all that was brought out was a piece of meat and a side of chips, nothing else on the plate what so ever. This wasn't the full meal advertised. It didn't come with chips and I hadn't asked for them either. I asked where the food was that i ordered and was then told that they had no dauphinois potatoes. An hour and a half in there and I still hadn't eaten. The service was awful, the chef can't cook and not once did I get the meal that I asked for. Staff had a chip on their shoulder and was very rude about the situation when they should be talking to the chef. I had to leave, hungry as I had a theatre production to watch and then ended up eating elsewhere at gone 10 pm. No apologies from the restaurant and no gestures of any kind. I felt really disappointed and unwelcome. I was not the only person to have trouble with the food and service that night either. Other tables was also complaining. This is the second time I have had issues with the London branches regarding this meal. I visited the branch in Bury St Edmunds a few months back and absolutely loved this meal. Côte Brasserie never disappoints. The waiter was very friendly, helpful - and very patient with our indecisive all girl party! The food was cooked to perfection and served quite speedily. I had the poulet grillé - the potato gratin simply melted in my mouth, the mushrooms were delightful, as for the white wine sauce...let's just say the plate was spotless by the end of the meal! My friends chose the the cote de boeuf (which looked equally as good). I'll definitely be heading back there to sample the rest of the mouth watering menu. read more

We have a pre-theatre menu on a Wednesday afternoon, and, even being very busy, we had a table pretty quickly and the food was good value for the price. Our waiters were very polite and helpful, my steak was good, so I will definitely recommend it if you are in the area. read more

Had a ribeye ordered medium rare. The pricing is great but the service was not great at all. The food wasn't extremely memorable either. Wont be returning by choice, but would give it another try if I was gong with a group since the menu reads well. My dinnermate said the soho location was better. This is a standard Côte branch, offering the usual menu. There is a fair amount of seating in this conveniently located restaurant. If you're a couple or on your own, it's worth sitting next to the windows upstairs to people-watch with a view over Charlotte Street and the end of Percy Street. The staff are very solicitous (to the point of being too nice), and the lunch menu is speedy, as promised. Worth popping in, particularly as it's likely to have more space than some of the restaurants further up the street. read more

My second time with the Cote restaurants. The fixed menu is really good value for money. I ordered the 3 courses menu. Appetiser was pate on toasted bruschetta, can't remember the exact name. It was good, crispy and tasty. I had steak frites as main, which also cooked to my liking. I ordered creme caramel for dessert. Somehow, it came very late and the manager came to apologise as my dessert was not prepared as standard and asked me to choose another dessert. Kids menu is also really good. My kids said Cote has the best chips. As long as they finish their food, I'm a happy Daddy. read more

Visiting from the states for a long weekend. Nice place overall...though small there seemed to be plenty of seating. We went here on a Saturday night around 8 and didn't wait to be seated. Somewhat limited menu and beer list (we are big beer drinkers - but it is a French restaurant so I should've built that into our expectations). Service was pleasant and food was good. But given the prices service should be exceptional as well as the food. All of our orders had issues (missing sauces, forgotten drinks, etc.). Our server was new and was "replaced" halfway through our meal (we didn't request this and not sure why it happened). Given that there are so many eating options in London it's unlikely I'd go back here. read more

Cote has a very urban bistro style. It gets quite busy for lunch. The food was delicious. I had a chicken dish that had a cream sauce and it was so yummy. My coworkers all loved their dishes as well. I was not happy with the creme burlee. The carmelized sugar was burnt and ruined that flavor of the pudding. I was bummed about that. The service was very nice. read more

The Food is good and made perfect. The Problem I am having is the tip does not go to the kitchen staff. This makes me very angry. I think the Manager keeps the tips and Service Charge.
