This unique antique shop is incredible and so is it's owner, Marcia! She has done an amazing job of displaying all the treasures and so knowledgeable! She's very warm, outgoing and loves to share information and the history...so much history behind the pieces to enjoy! Her prices are very fair! There were even handmade items from local crafters. I love to go with our daughter, seriously we get lost in there for hours! But if you don't have that kind of time, Marcia can guide you to what you might want or need! I was walking by this place caught my eye and decided to stop by. This is a little antique shop. Everything in here is absolutely beautiful. Don't take like kids because they can easily break something. There is so many things here. It will take you a while to look through everything. It's priced reasonable. So much fun!!! If you love antiques and pretty things this place is a blast. Me and my friends had plan just to walk in and walk out, but we ended up spending almost three hours in this store. There is so much stuff to admire and look at we could have spent three weeks in there and not been done. I ended up buying a ridiculous huge gold chain and I felt like a celebrity rapper all night. This is the dream place for vintage and antique jewelry! I've never seen such a rich and comprehensive collection of vintage jewelry all in one place. The place is crammed full of it into every nook and cranny, turning it into a fun treasure hunt. But the bigger draw is the quality of the items. Any thrift store can stock a five dollar bin and those are fun to rifle through, but the inventory here is a collectors dream. Vendome, Trifaris, Roberts, Julianas, Weiss, and the owner said there were a few Haskells around the cases. And the unsigned stuff is so beautiful and in good shape, like the Czech glass items. Yes, the prices reflect this, but it's honestly fair for the quality. Not to mention there's a mouthwatering collection of truly antique fine jewelry like Georgian and Victorian/Edwardian. This place is awesome! Lots of vintage brooches, rings, earrings, knick knacks, etc. at reasonable prices. I went in looking for a pretty brooch priced around $20. The selection is pretty awesome, and the prices range from 20 something dollars to classy stuff that was out of my price range. Whoever selects the pieces has a good eye too. I don't think I saw anything I didn't want. Most def going to go broke. I think I saw their little booth at the Alameda Antiques Faire. Definitely nicer stuff than some of the other jewelry booths- and the store is in my backyard! read more

What a perfect name for this store! I love antique stores, and this one is pretty amazing. It is not a large shop by any means but it is crammed full of the most gorgeous, feminine, romantic pieces - mainly china and jewelry. You might not want to wear a large handbag as everything is very much breakable and gosh forbid it swings away from you and knocks over a tea cup. It would really cause a dreadful domino effect as I saw many china pieces stacked on top of one another. I held my bag tight against myself as I walked through and frankly, I was a little afraid to touch anything. And, oh, my goodness....you might want to leave small children at home. If you know the person's taste, I think this would be a great place to find a one-of-a-kind gift. But, from what a couple of the reviews mention, it might be difficult to return an item. Make sure it can be exchanged or it is something you can keep for yourself. A little surprised by the many comments that mention the prices are reasonable. I really thought they were more on the pricey side. Maybe for Danville residents they are reasonable, but for the average Joe (or Jill), they are pretty steep. I am always on the hunt to find a china plate to go with my mixed china place settings but I didn't see a single plate marked under $25. Many were in the $30-50 range. DoNOT get a gift here. Husband bought me a piece (must have been having a severe coffee deficit) I thought an exchange would be simple. No, I have to make a special trip back to grovel for the owner. "She may or may not allow it, but I've seen her make exceptions before." Keep your partner away as mistakes in taste are all too common. Other stores are willing to exchange - stick with one of those. By the way, are you interested in a garish necklace with clip on earrings? Who wears those anyway??!! read more

I fell in love with this store today and walked out a happy customer with two beautiful jewelry pieces. I was focused on the jewelry only given time constraints (waiting husband and a nine month old) but all the jewelry was very well organized and beautifully displayed so browsing was easy and really a pleasure. I found the prices very reasonable, after all someone else went looking for these beautiful pieces, invested time, knowledge, gathered all in one place so I can just walk in at my convenience, browse through a really beautiful selection, try things on and walk out in less than 30 minutes with something I love. In fact the danger to the wallet comes from the sheer amount of gorgeous tempting jewelry. The owner of the store (did not get her name) was sincere and I appreciated the fact that she actually gave me background information on the jewelry I looked at. Initially I was interested only in how something looked on me, however, I found it actually nice to know that for example the necklace I purchased was from the 1920s and made with Czech glass etc., it just made my new jewelry addition feel special with its own history and personality. Bottom line is: great store, personable sales lady (owner), too much beauty to choose from, well organized, reasonable prices for the fact that someone else did the hunting for me. read more

Unfortunately, the bracelet that my girlfriend bought has not held up properly -- one of the shell-like disks popped out and was lost. That link can hopefully be removed and the rest of the piece strengthened, but it's obviously disappointing (and an unexpected additional cost). Arranged in little nooks roughly by color, I've not seen a store so carefully organized, yet tightly packed with merchandise to the point of bursting! Saw some cute furniture, too! This place was packed with merchandise in such a small amount of square footage. I must say though, despite the abundance of things to look at nothing catches the eye. Its a place I would not visit again and would not send anyone to go to. Sad to say but I can't see this place staying for open for long. The two or three things I looked at to compare prices and they were double what I was expecting to see. If you really want good antiques your best bet is Martinez, Alameda, or probably the Cordelia Junction Antique Mall in Fairfield. read more

I love vintage costume jewelry, and I love this store! It is just great fun to go in and look at every little thing that they have. I have purchased a Hollycraft bracelet and earring set, and a vintage feather hat. Couldn't be happier. The staff is super friendly as well. Whenever I walk into an antique store I always hope that my eyes will not be able to fixate on just one thing due to the amount of overflow of antiques filling the store; which is exactly what happened when I walked in. The place is filled with history left and right and all of it seemed to be very well taken care of. Marcia, the owner, cheerfully greeted me as she was sweeping up and not only took an interest in me and who I was but what I was interested in antique wise. I told her I'm always looking for Navajo jewelry and unique boxes. She lead me to a little space completely filled with her collection of sterling silver and Navajo turquoise. Marcia knows so much about every single piece in the store and would occasionally check on me and answer any question I had with a noteworthy answer. A lot of places I've gone into Im disappointed bc I usually find a number of pieces and I hate when they have no clue about the history of it. Marcia knew about everything and I felt like I learned a lot in that trip. Everything was very affordable, people would come in and out to shop or to just catch up with Marcia which filled the store with a very homey, warm feeling; like everybody knows Marcia and it makes you feel like you can trust her which is good when you're buying antiques, right? Lots of cool stuff in this shop. I wouldn't plan on finding anything rare or valuable thought. Great place to find nicnacs and vintage items to display in your home. Disappointed in the prices, paid 20 for a pair of cufflinks only to find out in researching them that they were mass produced through the 90's and even today for about 6 bucks a pair. My husband bought me little candle holders while we were on the chocolate and wine stroll from this store. The owner rung us up, said the machine didn't work, and rung us up again. BOTH charges, for the same amount, came out of our checking account. Wouldn't the right thing be that the owner refund our 2nd charge immediately since it's her store and her problem? Nope, didn't happen. 9 days later and no refund in our account. I recommend NEVER shopping in a store with this kind of customer service. We've been business owners in Pleasanton for 38 years and would never treat a customer like this. Crazy!!! read more

I have loved antique stores for years, and used to go quite often, but found seeking out the treasures from the trash quite tiresome, so it's rare I step foot in one. And this is where Cottage Jewel has come along and made a HUGE difference in my antiques loving life. This place is an absolute gem!!! It is a gorgeous, clean, and well thought out, gem of an antique store. There is a little of everything you could ever want-jewelry, furniture, buttons, mirrors, iron, shabby chic, and so on... I love that it also has fabulous current day art that is Victorian in theme, as well as items from the sea shore that just thrill me. I even had a client a few weeks back, who does not like to shop start telling me about "this great antique store that she found that is unlike any other due to it's easy to shop style, and fabulous owner", and of course, well, you know who she was talking about. And that is the other reason to go here, it's the owner-she's an absolute peach of a human, and so genuine, friendly, and helpful without ever being annoying. It's a delightful place where you can lose track of time for hours or find just the right necklace to show off the neckline of that new dress in 5 minutes.
