It's a real hit or miss when you're in this store. Some things, such as the True Religion jeans, deserve the price tag they are given. And other things, although extremely cute, could probably be found elsewhere for half the price. One thing I couldn't resist was this necklace (see picture). Maybe I could've found it at Forever 21 or Aldo Accessories but I found that this was really well put together and looked bold without being gaudy. It's a quiet store and most of the time, the sales attendant just sits behind her counter not really saying much. I actually find this less discriminatory than some of the other boutiques where the sales attendants will walk right by you without saying a single word while chatting it up with their friends. With boutiques, you just have to pick and choose the items you think are worth it, mostly dependent on if you really can find it or a similar knockoff for cheaper. read more

Cute stuff but a ridiculous return policy and snotty staff. A friend of mine bought me a gift from Ella J. I had never been there before but had peaked in the window many times and always wanted to go in. So I was excited to receive something from there. My gift was a very cute headband and some earrings. I tried on the headband at work right when I opened it. I determined that it just wasn't me. It had some chains hanging on it and I didn't like how the were hanging behind my ear. My friend told me that she was told when she purchased it that she must exchange within 7 days!! She emphasized this. So, I of course make sure to adhere to this and go in before my exchange expiration date. Upon going into Ella J. I did not feel particularly welcome but i wasn't bothered. Until I went to the register and the girl who was behind the counter was so snotty. Didn't care that i was even in the store. She didn't want to let me exchange the headband. She even told me that i had damaged it or broken it in some way. I guess the chain wasn't how it was supposed to be. Which is why i didn't like it in the first place! If it was broken or damaged it didn't happen when i had it. So the snotty sales girl finally decided to let me exchange the headband for something else. I looked around the store and couldn't find anything i liked. I asked if i could get store credit so i could come back and look some more when i had more time and maybe when they had more inventory. Snotty Sales Girl wouldn't do that. So I got a different headband that I have yet to wear. I'll never shop there again. read more

Ella J is that you? I didn't even know I was in the same store. For years I have avoided this shop with the super cute clothes and super sized price tags. But yesterday I unknowingly walked into there new location and instantly fell in like. What's not to like about a high quality well made Maxi skirt for $28.00? Or a Maxi dress for $32.00? Nothing I tell you! The store is much smaller but thy have kept all the cutest best priced items. I did stumble upon a pair of $200.00 jeans but overall the clothes were affordable. Such a drag. These guys have some great labels...I can always find my favorite jeans here. The bummer is that I've been in many times and have rarely gotten what I would consider to be good customer service (with the exception of one sales girl who knows me...and is GREAT). The Lodi store is much stronger with customer service and general atmosphere. Their prices are high and I paid a pretty penny for some jeans that ripped not too long after purchase. Took the damaged jeans back to Ella J to see if they would contact their rep from this label and I was advised that "(they) don't do that" and that this particular label regularly "falls apart" (which I know to be untrue because I work with this label). I like to be able to support local shops but at this point I don't see how I can continue to support Ella J. read more

So many really cute clothes and brands that are HOT and that you won't see anywhere else. Do NOT listen to the mean ladies posting nasty reviews. The prices are NOT high...how much do you expect to pay for Juicy? Or for a pair of your fav brand jeans that lift your butt, slim your thighs, and look fabulous with heels OR flip flops??? I say THAT is priceless! I LOVE Ella J not only for cute dresses and jeans... but I also LOVE them for their casual clothes that I find just drape the body fabulously. I always stop in here after lunch at Unce Yu's a few doors down. I love Ella J. They have very cute clothes, which are pretty pricey, but they have some great sale items. I got a C&C California tee for like $20, and a sweet pink draped top from some brand I'd never heard of, (that's saying something!),for less than that. I had a major slump for a while, but recently I picked up the cutest little indie scarf without a brand for $16! I thought everone would comment on it at school.
