The strawberry farm has two sides. One for strawberry picking and the other side is a good size amusement area for kids. We went on a holiday weekend Sunday and was pleased that they also have the opportunity to have events at the play area. Note: the admission to the play area is different from the fee to strawberry pick. They also offer other produce and jams for sale in the strawberry picking section of the farm. Definitely pick up a strawberry lollipop for a light but sweet treat. It's a farm so there are bugs. Remember to carry some bug spray for the kids and there is ample seating if a member of your party does not want to go out into the field. Note. Drove over 45 minutes to take the kids strawberry picking and make some fun memories, only to pull up and find out they were CLOSED! The website still showed they were open, so we made the trip thinking we'd have a fun family day. When I called, I was told they had already closed for the season. Thankfully, we didn't drive any farther, but I can only imagine how frustrating it would be for families traveling even longer distances. This was such a refreshing adventure. A friend and I came by here to pick some strawberries. They did have some already picked but I wanted to pick my own. You grab your buckets or bin and then you head to go pick. There were so many strawberries and they looked amazing! I got a gallon bucket and filled it easily. Once done, you take the baskets up and pay for it. Pretty easy. The two ladies helping at checkout were very nice and friendly. They explained the process and how you can ride the tractor out to another area. I will definitely return and do this again. The strawberries are delicious! Took them home and soaked them. Sweet! We came to Cottle Farms for my daughter's field trip and it is so cute and fun here. We came after it had rained the day before so it was a bit muddy but the kids had a blast. They have their huge strawberry field where you can pick the strawberries and on the other side is a huge play area. They have this massive slide, jump area, playground, and a little snack stand in the middle. There is so much to do there for kids to play and I believe it's $14-$15 dollars per person so it's not too bad. I will definitely take my daughter back to play again. read more

Came here this afternoon and it was an extremely pleasant experience! Very simple set up, pick whether you want to pick a quart size of bucket full (gallon) and pay after! The strawberries were perfect size, some big some small and so so sweet. Came home and made a strawberry buckle and jam!! Will definitely come again next season or maybe again before they close up for the summer. Highly suggest hydrating and bringing a hat or shades. Also would suggest wearing close toed shoes because you will be walking through sandy/dirt. read more

My husband and I came here on a Sunday afternoon and really enjoyed ourselves. The lady working at the checkout stand was super friendly when we first received our bucket and when we checked out before we left. Our strategy of walking all the way to the back rows paid off and we were able to fill our gallon bucket in under 30 mins with big and juicy berries. That time included us stopping to sample a few and enjoying the beautiful flowers on the plants. If you have mobility problems you should sit this one out and buy their per-picked berries instead. Since this is an actual farm you will have to walk a little bit on uneven ground since the strawberries are grown in rows to help conduct water drainage. However, as long as you watch your step you shouldn't have any issues as there were plenty of small children who were able to walk around just fine. read more

This is a nice place to go and pick some delicious berries. These berries are far juicer and tastier than the average grocery store fare. I'd recommend going earlier in the season, as the berries seem to be better quality at that time. Plan to wear older shoes or perhaps rain boots. Some of the rows tend to be muddy all the time, but if it's rained recently they'll all be at least a little muddy. You can pick a quart or gallon-sized bucket for $4 or $11, respectively. It took me about 30 minutes to pick enough to fill the gallon-sized bucket the first time I went and about 50 minutes to fill it the second time I went (around mid-May when the fields were more picked over). When I went back the second time, I got a 25 cent discount for bringing back the bucket they gave me on my first trip. Four stars because the "we-pick" side of the field seemed to have berries that looked slightly nicer than the "you-pick" side. You can purchase berries they pick for $4/quart or $13/gallon. read more

Let me start with the good first. They have beautiful strawberries that are some of the freshest and sweetest that I have picked in South Carolina. No grocery store can hope to compare. And I thoroughly enjoy the act of picking my own fruit...especially with my family. We, of course play the "Who can find the biggest berries" game. It's good, wholesome fun that everyone can enjoy and you get the added benefit of supporting local business as well! That being said, I have to unfortunately give this farm 3 stars because of the service and guilt trip that we received when we went to pay for freshly picked strawberries. When we first got our buckets, the ladies informed us that we could pick anywhere in front of the signs that marked their own berry-picking area and in front of their berry-picking truck. They had a team of about 10 or so berry pickers out there. We thought this was fair and took no issue with it. So we took our buckets and headed over to the right field. We weren't having much luck in the right field and so we decide to switch to the left. We made sure we way in front of the sign and away from their berry pickers. We were probably in the middle of the left field (still not having much luck) when I told my Mom that we should go up to the first 2 or 3 rows because I thought those would be the least picked over. Sure enough, there were a ton of beautiful, ripe strawberries there. So we filled our two buckets and headed back over to the stand to pay. As soon as we got to the table, the older woman who had given us our buckets and explained the rules to us commented on our good fortune with the berries. She said "Wow! Those are beautiful. You got some great strawberries! Where did you pick those?" We told her that we got them from the first 2 rows in the left field and her face dropped. Her response was "That's why we asked everyone to pick on the right side and not in the left field." My mother apologized and informed the lady that she had told us not to pick behind the signs. She never said anything about staying in the right field. The lady responded again with "It's alright. Too late now. What's done is done." She became pleasant again when she took our money. My only other grievance was the porta potty/pump sink situation. I fully understand that a porta potty is what it is and there's not much to be done about it. It is a necessary evil. However, I do expect the pump sinks to be working at the very least. One set of sinks were not pushing out any water when pumped (i was pumping for about 3 mins) and then the other could not be pumped at all. The pump was jammed all the way down. At least they had hand sanitizer! So that's my review. I like the product and the time I get to spend with my family out there, but I did not like that they changed their picking rules to suit them and being insinuated as a rule-breaker and not having a working sink. read more

I like how this place is not too far from my home. I went early in the week and early in the morning (I find going before 11 is the best time if you have young ones in order to beat the heat of course). There is plenty of parking and porta potty's. I like how well organised and easy it was to actually pick the strawberries, especially for kids. The only reason why this place lost a star, speaking for myself, is because most of the isles were filled with water and very muddy (which if you're wearing rain boots would be fine) and the customer service was OK...it was like I had to do something to make the lady smile or speak behind the table other than her asking if I wanted the quart or gallon size. I mean she was nice when she spoke and gave my son cute little coloring book and sticker. I also bought a jar of strawberry preserves which was DELICIOUS!! read more

my family has been buying strawberries from cottle's stand on hwy 70 in garner for years - we had experiences there recently which have led us to no longer buy from them - two weeks ago we were disappointed that the person staffing the booth did not wear a face mask, did not know what variety of strawberries they were selling, and the three flats left at the end of the day were all missing a layer of berries - but the following week was the kicker - not only was the person at the booth not masked, they weren't social distancing from several customers who also were not masked, and all of them were loudly spouting nonsense about the coronavirus threat that was misinformed and dangerous - my wife left without buying anything, after being totally ignored by the person staffing the booth read more
