Pound cake with vanilla icing by Ally and Eloise. Photo credit: Perryman Studios

Ally and Eloise made the cake for my daughter baby shower. Not only was it absolutely beautiful but it was delicious. I will definitely be using their services again in the future.

We chose this bakery for our gender reveal cake. They made a beautiful cake and the service was great, but the cake was so bad that we couldn't even eat it. The icing tasted like it was made with crisco and the cake was crumbly. There was no flavor for either the icing or the cake. To top it off, it was $70 :( I wish we loved it, but I just want to notify others.

Absolutely delicious my son and I visited the downtown location and it was definitely a treat. Located at The Arcade building which is beautiful and full of locally owned small businesses. Perfect spot for a date or just a place to relax. The selection was outstanding. The service phenomenal. The attendant was so sweet and personable, which can be hard to find these days. We will definitely be putting in the extra steps so we can indulge regularly! I included pictures of: Red Velvet cupcakes YOU HAVE TO try this frosting!!! What kind of sorcery is this??? So light!! So delicious!! I'm not even a frosting person and a lemon filled macaroon that my son really enjoyed.

Uncool Ally & Eloise. Uncool. Visited on the 7th and you were closed. Your sign said you were out through the 6th. We arrived at 1:30pm on the 7th after paying for parallel parking and finding your location and you weren't there. Super disappointed you closed without notice.

Found this business with a generic "bakery near me" Google search. I ordered about 2 weeks in advance and they were happy to accommodate that for me! I ordered a 4 inch red velvet cake. It was simple, fresh, and delicious! They are taking COVID safety measures, curbside is available , and only staff are allowed in the building. Walk up to the window and ring the bell to speak to someone.

If you like sweets, then you will love Ally and Eloise! I was visiting Soda City Market a couple of years ago and a friend of mine told me to try the carrot cake (I don't like carrot cake). So I bought a slice and it was the best carrot cake I've ever eaten. I've stopped by multiple times, including today, to buy macarons, cake pops and carrot cake (great deserts for a Thanksgiving too) and am disappointed I haven't left a review until now. This is my favorite bakery in Columbia and they also make custom cakes as well (with advance notice).

We hired Aleka to make my daughter's wedding cake and she was AMAZING to work with! She created exactly what my daughter envisioned. The cake was gorgeous and that bow!!! Oh my goodness...so elegant! It tasted amazing too! A huge thank you to Aleka!

After working downtown in the Meridian building, I was familiar with the small Ally and Eloise shop tucked away in the Arcade building. That used to be my spot for coffee and pastries. However, what I didn't know, was they had an actual bake shop on Forest Drive. When scouring Yelp for a bakery to make my daughters 9th birthday cake, this familiar name popped up. I immediately went to their website and was taken aback at all of the delicious cakes they had available. I called and ordered the 9in Cookie Dough Cake a few days in advance, and the gentleman on the phone was very patient with me as I fumbled through ordering while driving. When I took my daughter to go pick it up, Ally was there putting the finishing touches on the cake. When she saw my daughter, she asked what else she could do to make it just right - to which she responded with wide eyes "sprinkles and my name in teal!" Ally ran to the back, did these two things, and brought it back out good to go! The cake was so tasty! They took actual scoops of cookie dough and mixed them with the batter, so it gave it a marbled texture. The 9in was definitely too large for our group, so everybody left home with 1 or 3 slices. I couldn't have asked for a better cake or easier experience ordering one.

I discovered Ally & Eloise at Cola's outdoor market. It was Saturday and I was as deciding on my one dessert for the two week period. I allow myself two desserts per month. So happy I decided to go with the carrot cake. The is a delicious slice of cake. My pick was moist, plenty of carrots with a correct amount of cream cheese frosting, and topped with scrumptious pecans!

Cute little shop with various baked good. The coconut cake was tasty. The macarons don't look right at all! They look grainy and hard, so I didn't even want to try. Maybe I can show you how to make them lol My friend enjoyed her Nutella pound cake also.

They were all so sweet and really went above and beyond to make sure it was a high-quality experience. I noticed that they openly advertise that they don't accept tips and have slightly higher prices in order to pay their workers a living wage, and the results were directly reflected in the customer service that I received. As for the food and drink (coffee), that was pretty good as well! While I do wish that they might have had bagels, the croissant that I substituted it for was warm, buttery, and tasty, and it was a nice change from my usual coffee shop meal, as I've only had a croissant a handful of times. The coffee was fine, and I loved how they offered free refills, which I've noticed that other local coffee shops usually don't. Finally, I loved the setting of the restaurant, which gave you the opportunity to either sit inside and enjoy the ambiance or on the outside patio and enjoy some peace and quiet. I also loved the artwork that they had on the walls, which the waitress informed me was painted by a local artist and which you could purchase if you wanted to. All-in-all, I loved smallSUGAR, will be back in the future, and would highly recommend stopping in!

Service was fine. Nothing particularly standout, but smooth and efficient. For drinks, the coffee was average. It wasn't bad by any means, just nothing memorable. Especially considering the price point. Food-wise, there were some highlights. The sweet potato bowl was well-dressed and flavorful, though it felt like it was missing a protein component to make it more complete. The shakshuka was very good overall, with great flavor, though it leaned a bit salty. The biggest issue was the bread portion. It simply wasn't enough for the dish. I ended up ordering an extra side, and while it's listed as two slices, it's really just one slice cut in half. At $4 for that portion, that is very unreasonable. That was a recurring theme. Pricing felt high across the board for what you receive. While the flavors were there, nothing really stood out as exceptional enough to justify the cost. Overall, not a bad visit. Just one where the value didn't quite match the experience.
