If you want customized couch dimensions, do not use Couch! The factory does beautiful work but Couch is the weak link. Ameer has zero business sense. It's like the adults are out of town and their frat boy son is left running the store. He believes that saying, "Oops, my bad" is taking full responsibility for his mistake. Couch is the only place I found that could customize the back height of a sofa. I since discovered that Seattle Home Company does fully custom couches as well. Despite issues with in-store service and iffy reviews I went ahead and ordered. I was very clear and discussed the dimensions twice in person before placing the order. Unfortunately a man who sells custom couches for a living cannot correctly fill out his own order form. The couch I received was nowhere near what I had ordered. After three days I got Ameer on the phone to talk about a reorder. He kept trying to end the call! I covered my issues and he agreed. Then I followed up with an email reiterating our conversation, giving the desired measurements, and stating reasonable deadlines. His response was that I was being unreasonable and threatening. I knew he was poor at follow-through so I added deadlines, which he took offense to. _This isn't personal, it's business._ In the end he said he couldn't deliver what I wanted and refunded my money. Ameer lost a potential customer in me. It is clear that selling to people who aren't local is a very much of an afterthought, if even that. According to staff only Ameer deals with non-local customers but he takes forever to get back to you. While I am still waiting to hear about having potential fabric samples being sent to me, several days ago I received a box packed with fabric and stain samples from another company selling custom couches. They - being Joybird - also called and emailed me 15% discount coupon. I ended up buying from them partly because Ameer made me feel that he was not really interested in my business while Joybird provided an awesome customer experience. read more

I love my custom couch, I paid about $1,000 less than I would have with one of the regular retailers, they delivered about a month and a half ahead of estimate, and I could not be happier! I had literally shopped around and test-sat everywhere for 6 months. Crate n Barrel, Pottery Barn, Restoration Furniture, every offshoot of everyone. I knew exactly the layout and sizing that I wanted, and I couldn't find it off the floor anywhere. I would be able to get close by custom ordering from one of those retailers, but not exactly, and it would have cost me more. Why should I pay more to get "close" to exactly what I want? Allegra was beyond helpful assisting us in picking out styles, fabrics, legs, even the little decorative nails that I hadn't thought of. We brought home swatches to test, called in our final order, and they went to work. Like I said, couch was ready about 45 days ahead of estimate, which made me ecstatic. Delivery was easy to schedule and built into the final price, along with stainguard. The two delivery guys were fast, friendly, professional (thoughtfully asked if shoes were ok on the carpet), showed me exactly where the assembly joint is, and then they were gone with a smile and a signature. I'm loving stretching out on my hypo-down cushions. I love that it is exactly what I asked for. I love that since it IS exactly what I asked for it comfortably and visually has freed up space in my room while adding more seating/lounging than I had before. I love that my couch is made with quality materials that will last, and that there's a 10 year warrantee via the stainguard. The people at Couch are utmost professionals and I will recommend them to anyone seeking furniture, and I would easily and quickly use their services again. ...And their showroom alone is worth a visit :) read more

I found this store via craigslist and couldn't have been more excited after sitting down with Ameer to view all the possibilities they have to offer. They can replicate any sofa you want for less, it's the deal of a century. I am madly in love with my new sofa; it looks like I paid thousands of dollars. Updating my earlier review to three stars, but 2.5 would be more appropriate. Couch covered repairs to the ottoman frame and couch cushion under warranty. They've stood behind their product multiple times, which is good, but there shouldn't have been so many issues with the frames in the first place. I also learned they now recommend against raised buttons due to issues with catching during everyday use, which makes sense to me. read more

I'm glad to write an update for Couch. Although we initially had a series of issues, we patiently worked through them with Ameer and had them all resolved within a month - replacement cushions at the correct specs and new legs in a different finish and shape. I think our final product is what we envisioned and the price was reasonable enough that the extra hassle was worth less than the money we saved at another store. I'm giving 3 stars because it's where our good and bad experiences averaged out. My first yelp review did open a dialogue with Ameer and in good faith I think he has taken his experience with us constructively and will take steps to improve his customer service. At the core, if we were kept updated on delays, QC issues, etc, we would be very accommodating because at least he's on top of it and looking out for our best interests. I think whenever you are ordering a custom piece, your expectations are especially high and a couch is quite a chunk of change as well as a prominent piece of furniture. So when a customer hasn't heard a status update for a while, delays are unexplained, and some of the time the details of your order can't be found this is totally expected that they get upset and mistrustful that issues can be rectified. There's a lot of truth in some of the negative reviews posted because I experienced it as well. I also understand Ameer's frustration too since he's a two man operation with a factory a thousand miles away. But this is no excuse to give customers responses with a defensive or negative attitude. Looking back I would've liked to have been contacted about a week before my quoted delivery date to make sure the couch was finishing up and if there were any delivery delays. We had some QC issues but now knowing that he doesn't have a specific QC man there on site I would be happy to accept a sooner delivery, QC it myself and have Ameer's "Couch Whisperer" come to my home to fix it. The Couch Whisperer is a fantastic guy by the way and does great work. We did know ahead of time that we could change out the legs if we didn't like them because there were no swatches or examples when we were placing our order. In that respect I felt taken care of. I also want to give props to the delivery boys who were very professional, punctual (unheard of!), friendly and only left when they were sure I was satisfied with their service. read more

Recently I bought a couch from, well "Couch" in Seattle. The experience was quite nice. The store is in harbor steps which is a beautiful area. I love roaming the stores and area on a nice day which is what I found myself doing last summer. There I stumbled upon "Couch" and found the furniture to be reasonably priced given the quality of the product. I finally got around to replacing some of my furniture in my house and the staff was awesome. I am not particularly good with the decorating, what will look good where, etc but the "Couch" staff helped me decide on fabrics, colors, etc and it looks amazing in my place. I have never gone through the process of customizing a couch but the process was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Also for a downtown Seattle location parking is cheap and very close to the store. I highly recommend them. read more

I picked one of their existing designs with very few modifications and it was built well within the time frame I was quoted - 6 weeks. The sofa looks great and it's comparable in quality to stock model from a high-end chain while costing a couple hundred less. We were looking for a sectional for our den and were having a very difficult time finding the right style and fit for our space from the regular retailers (ie Crate and Barrel, Room and Board, Dania, Macy's, etc...) Couch provided the perfect solution - lots of style options that we were able to customize to fit our space perfectly. Allegra was extremely helpful and patient when reviewing the fabric options and helping us choose a style (for comfort and looks). Yes, it took a while to get the couch (about 10 weeks) and was pricey but totally worth it because we got exactly what we wanted and will be happy with it for a long, long time. We ordered a sectional from Ameer and had a lot of problems. The first sectional had the wrong configuration and the entire thing had to be remade. The second sectional took over 3 months to receive. Both sectionals squeeked severely. Ameer said the first sectional was an exception but upon receiving the new sectional it also is VERY squeeky. He did have a company pick up the sectional and fix the squeeking, but it didn't work very well. The sofa still squeeks which is a disappointment considering it's a brand new sofa. Ameer is good about correcting mistakes and making situations right. There is a lot of room for improvement with communication. He rarely answers his phone and it takes a lot to get an email response. I appreciated him trying to right the situation, but still wouldn't recommend him to friends. Too bad because he is a very nice guy. read more

I purchased a sofa from Couch and worked with Allegra. I just wanted to take some time to express how amazing their customer service was during the whole process. Allegra helped me to customize my sofa to fit my body measurements and to ensure if was comfortable given I have disc related issues. She let me know it takes about 2-3 months to make the couch but given that it is custom made, I really didn't mind. She asked all the right questions about my furniture needs (color, firmness, fabric, stains and overall care) as well as my budget. When I received my couch, it literally looked like a piece of art, the quality is remarkable. But even though it is a statement piece, it also looks and feels very comfortable, which seems to be the case with all their couches. I LOVE IT!! I have been living with my new couch for six months now and I absolutely love it. I decided to buy from COUCH because I needed to be able to customize the measurements, which I did and they are perfect. We did have a bit of difficulty though and had to return the first one they sent me as it was the wrong size. But they manager said right away that they would build me another couch without any trouble or anything, so I was happy about it and did not mind waiting for that process. The new one came and it was perfect. it is so comfortable and durable. I would recommend this store with only one precaution, customer service. This was the only thing that I would say that that wasn't that great. While it was just okay, it wasn't what you would expect from a place like that where you are spending $5000 with them. They are not super personable. If you can get past that definitely buy your next sofa here. read more

The couches all look like they came straight out of Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel, yet they cost less, and are designed to my dimensions. That rocks! I didn't know such a place existed (or at least for us non-CEO types) I've got an apartment with a funky little area for a couch, and Ameer worked with me to design that should fit perfectly. The dude is cool. He was helpful, and wanted me to get something I liked, but would definitely let me know when it might not look good... we really found a couch together that was much better than what I would have found on my own... My home is tiny and I'm short, so I needed a couch with a simple design, a custom length, and some other modifications to make it fit me and my space well. Couch is the only place in Seattle I'm aware of that offers these services at a cost that's comparable to places like Crate and Barrel, West Elm, Room and Board and Pottery Barn. Both Ameer (the owner) and Allegra (interior designer) were very helpful and knowledgeable. She discussed fabric, cushion and design options with me on the first day I came in, and Ameer helped with some design fine-tuning when I came back to place my order after I had selected my fabric. I showed him an arm style I preferred that I'd seen on a couch in a catalog, and he was amenable to making that design change to the arms for just $50 extra. When my new sofa arrived, I was thrilled! The size, proportions and arm shape are perfect and fit the room exactly as I'd hoped. It's very comfortable, too! The finish work looks very good. The height of the seat is a little taller than I thought I'd be. Other than that, everything came out right. The delivery guys were very careful, and the couch was well-wrapped and undamaged. A week before my sofa was scheduled to arrive, Ameer notified me that the fabric was on backorder, so the delivery would be delayed by 1-2 months. I was not happy about this, as I had assumed my sizable down-payment would be used to order and secure the materials for my couch. In the end, the couch arrived 1 month later than originally scheduled, and Ameer made an adjustment to the final bill to compensate me for the inconvenience. I appreciate that. Everyone makes mistakes, it's how they recover from them that matters most. If you order from Couch, be sure to specify and double-check the seat height and every other measurement that's critical to the success of your design. All in all, this was a good experience. This was a really outstanding experience when I was expecting to have to deal with the opposite. My girlfriend and I had different ideas about what kind of sofa was right for our place. I wanted something deep and comfy, but she was all about getting a "grown up" sofa that looked "sharp". We went in with a couple pictures of things we thought might work that we found online. Ameer was WAAAAAYYYY helpful. We told him what we were after and he nicely nudged us away from the ideas we brought in towards something more modern to fit our recently refurbished living room. The sofa arrived yesterday exactly 6 weeks after order and it fits the bill. It's deep and it's low to the ground and the mrs. loves how it looks and I love how it feels. We paid less than $100 more than the price of a sofa we were liking at Crate but we got a higher quality piece built specifically for our place. Can't beat it. read more

Just received the 2 sofas we ordered from Couch! Absolutely LOVE them! We needed to get couches that had cat proof fabric and didn't want leather. We worked with Allegra who helped us find a great fabric that will not allow our cat to scratch the fabric. The couches are so comfortable and look great! They didn't cost any more than buying at a regular furniture store and we got a custom couch. Also, they were delivered 3 weeks ahead of schedule. We waited 5 months for a couch that is not what we ordered. Delivery was quoted at 8 weeks. There was very little communication about the delays & this was very frustrating. The slip cover does not fit properly, the legs are wrong, and the color is awful. We also wanted a soft, down wrapped seat. The seat is hard, and uncomfortable. They suggested that we sell the couch on Craig's List. If you haven't ordered yet, turn & run. Save yourself a big hassle. I'm surprised Couch is still in business after our experience. I have to share that Ameer was able to make my DREAM couch a reality. I have trusted him from start to finish - fabric choices, pillow choices, fill choices, measurements, etc. - and it has paid off. He even made house calls to show me fabrics. At some point, I will ask him to post pictures of the sectional he made for me on his site - the metalwork is to die for and the upgraded herringbone fabric is so much better than what I originally wanted. It truly will end up being a "wow" couch! While it would have been faster to purchase a couch from one of the typical furniture companies I know, without a doubt, that I wouldn't be this happy with the result. Even though I was moving out of Seattle, I ordered from them and went through all kind of border hassles to get it, as Allegra really seemed to know everything there was to know about couches! I've had the couch for 6 months now and continue to love it. She suggested the right fabric for someone with cats (all I do is run a lint roller over it; it's very sturdy), the style we customized is perfect, the legs we picked are also perfect, and the firmness is what I wanted. Had s custom sofa made this year and was extremely happy with the outcome. Ameer and Allegra were very helpful with the process. We saw a sofa on the showroom floor that we liked, but wanted to make some changes. Ameer made sure to point out what changes would look good and which would be necessary in order for it to look good. We were extremely satisfied with the end result and quality. We were in the process of moving and could not have it delivered as it became ready, but they stored it for us without any hassle until we were ready for delivery. Some stitching has come loose on one of the back pillows, nothing major and Ameer assured us that he would stand behind the quality and take care of any issue. I rarely review anything, but our couches are so much better than I would have thought, and we love them. Before we ordered, we went and sat on every couch at the store multiple times, going back and forth on style, fabric and cushion fill. Allegra could not have steered us better. The cushions feel like down but aren't--best of both worlds. And the fabric is completely impervious to cat claws and stains, and at the same time is wonderfully soft and inviting. And did I mention the cushion covers are machine washable if needed? I say all the time how much I love our couches--best thing ever! Thank you! read more

We purchased a couch from Couch back in the spring. We had been looking for a couch for over a year, but then new baby = new baby spit up = the last thing we should be buying is a new couch. But after slumping and sagging in our retro 1950's couch for the last 15 years (yes this was a well made couch back in it's day), we decided we had had enough. We had looked at Cracker Barrel, Macy's, Dania but couldn't find exactly what we wanted (modern, simple, well made, multipurpose, but not too expensive). So finally on a very rainy Sunday we sat down at Couch with Alegra. Although not sure what to expect when you enter their showroom, she did a fabulous job of working us through the process of picking out all the features we wanted and some things we never would have thought of. And I have to say this was a pretty fun and painless process. The couch was ordered and 2 months later it arrived. No hiccups, everything as we were told and the couch was and is beautiful, just what we wanted. I wanted to wait to write this review as I felt we should live in this couch for a bit, make sure it was still a solid unit after 5 months of use, and give it a good test "sit". Well it tests out beautifully - no creaks, firmness right, fabric wearing well etc. So do not fear, go in to Couch, let them run you through the process and get a custom couch that you will love (and spend the same or less than you would at Cracker Barrel), all while supporting someone local. read more

I bought my sofa from Ameer at the end of May (I think). Anyway, I was living in Miami, and knew I was coming back to Seattle shortly, and was determined to get settled as quickly as possible, and buy only a few pieces of furniture, since I had none anymore! I found the Couch blog, and visited the store as soon as I returned to Seattle. I was extremely indecisive, tired, and not in the mood to even consider all the options. Ameer sensed this and offered to come to my condo, take a look at the space, bring fabric samples, and then offer recommendations. Long story, short version is that I have the most gorgeous pale blue linen sofa that I have ever seen. It is the right size, it is the right color, and I would never have considered the really cool look of linen. The price was probably about half of what this Ralph Lauren-style sofa would cost elsewhere. It is made in the US, and the comfort is unbelievable! Ameer is the most informed furniture retailer I have ever met, and with his guidance, I purchased a piece of furniture that I could see keeping forever. It's that nice, and I am very picky about quality. So....if you need a sofa, go see Ameer. His knowledge and patience are unsurpassed. Thanks, Ameer for making this so painless!!
