After looking around for a mattress set that wasn't lined with gold and polar bear fur (why else would a mattress be so expensive) we decided to stop by Everrest since we drive by their showroom multiple times a week. Five mattress'. Yep folks that is all they sell - five different mattress'. All varying in comfort levels - from super soft and squishy to your standard sleeping on a board firm to a tempur-pedicesque model. All made up in their factory in Marysville. Basically just went down the row - from mattress to mattress laying down to test their support levels. Found two I liked - talked for a few minutes about the pros and cons of each - and made a decision. Within 15 minutes of arriving the mattress set had been purchased and delivery time had been arranged, and then sat chit chatting with the salesman (we think he was the owner) for about ten minutes more. After all of the slick salesmen I had encountered on my mattress safari walking into Everrest was like a breath of fresh air. read more

If you're in need of a mattress, please look further than Everrest. This place had potential. It was a local business, the prices were good and the salesperson at the factory showroom was nice and friendly (figures that he was quitting at the end of the week). We purchased a king-sized set for delivery on Monday morning. Unfortunately, the apartment we were scheduled to move into needed to have its carpet replaced so we called up Everrest to reschedule. I kept in mind the fact that they were going to relocate their factory in a few days and tried to compromise on a delivery time. Their suggested solutions? Wait over a week for the bed or put it outdoors in the narrow, grody hallway all day until we could move it inside. When I pressed for alternatives, the person suddenly became rude and irate, basically saying he would not work with me, that I had to work with him and that he would not do it "my way". I was taken aback since our conversation started out on a professional level and before I could respond, the jackhole hung up on me and effectively cancelled our order! They are never getting my business. I was hoping for some flexibility and more personalized customer service characteristic of a locally-based company. Even if their prices were great, it's not worth it if you eventually demand the money back or they don't give you the merchandise. Please, learn from my experience (and the unsatisfactory record they have with the BBB) and Everrest Nevermore. Update: The person I spoke with was the *owner* of all people. Also, I called today to check up on the status of my refund. It turns out they have no internal database and still use *paper only* to keep track of things. The lady I had originally spoken with about the refund had apparently gone home with the paperwork for that day so the person currently answering the phone had no possible way to look up or verify the transaction (actual words). And surprise, surprise, that person became rude as well. I've received messages from other Yelpers who had to call the police due to threats from the owner of this place. read more

When I moved to Seattle, I knew nothing. My dad found this place by googling it. When we walked up I wasn't too sure about the place. The showroom is definitely no frills and the salespeople are straight forward. They have a limited selection (which actually is nice for those of us indecisive people). The salespeople were more than friendly as I bounced from their 5-6 beds on display for nearly an hour trying to decide. Yeah, I'm not good at picking out mattresses. The salesman was knowledgeable and had suggestions for which bed may be more appropriate for how I sleep, etc. but wasn't going to pressure me into one model over another. Also, I was debating between a full or queen. Knowing how often I move, I decided the full may be better and the salesman encouraged that decision. He definitely wanted me to walk out of their happy. They offered to let us drive off with the mattress that day but driving a little Focus rental car, that wasn't going to happen. When we inquired about delivery and they said it might take a week to a week and a half I was nearly in tears. I just had moved across the country where I knew nobody, had no furniture, and now was going to spend a week+ sleeping on the floor, without even a couch to sleep on. Anyway, as I got a bit teary picking out a date that would work, the salesman decided he'd see if he could squeeze me in for an earlier delivery. No promises made, but he told me he'd try. Two days later, I had my mattress. The delivery men brought it up the elevator, no problem, popped together the frame and put it in my room in flash. Nearly three years later, I still love my mattress and it's holding up really well. I rotate and flip as one should and it's been moved, dragged, and hauled between 4 apartments now. It's been my primary bed and lived in a guest room for a while. No complaints from any of the guests who slept on it. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're looking for a reasonably priced mattress with the basics - you won't find any sleep number or memory foam stuff here. As a bonus - the showroom is attached to where they make the mattresses and you can peek into the "factory" which is kind of neat. read more

I didn't have a bad experience with these guys. I believe I dealt with the owner when it was in the old location on 15th. What I ordered is what I received, and they took my old mattress without a problem. The mattress has held up great for the past 3 years, and continues to do so. I did have a better experience than 3 stars, but it sounds like these other fellows had such a bad experience I am giving them 3. What I will say is...after shopping for a mattress for quite some time, these guys were VERY affordable, and I was happy with the product and the service. Got my double-sided mattress here. What stood out to me about this place was the friendly customer service. the salesperson was very knowledgeable and had me try several mattresses. i don't think I've ever put this much thought into buying a mattress; my last one was off craigslist! that said, i love the fact that the mattresses here were all double sided, a tradition common to the northwest. the company also locally sources its products which helps to support local businesses. Also there's a complimentary fruit table and water station. I'm very satisfied with my purchase so far. the only con i had was the large shipping cost. the mattress was already expensive by itself, not to mention the high cost of taxes, and to add on the shipping was a little ridiculous. I first discovered them about 10 years ago, when I bought a queen sized set from them. That experience was AWESOME! The salesman was the owner at the time, and he spent a crazy long time educating me on everything I ever wanted to know about mattresses, how they're made, number of coils, coil gadge, etc. I didn't buy that day, and chose to do some shopping around with my new found knowledge. After looking at 5-6 different stores (and their skeevy salesmen) I came right back to Everrest. Life happens, and I ended up selling the set and downsizing to a hand-me-down full size. Now that I'm back in the market to buy, my first and ONLY stop was back to Everrest. On my visit to the new showroom (still basic and stripped down like the old one), I met w/ the daughter of the old owner I'd met before (he unfortunately passed away a year or so ago), and my 2nd experience was just as good!! No pressure sales, and I was given total freedom to spend as much time as I wanted laying on each model and go back and forth between them. It was great to learn about the changes in mattress production - including how many are now sprayed with a fire retardant chemical, which makes some people sick. I LOVE that Everrest uses a different method that does not have those toxic airborn chemicals! In this day and age of tight budgets, I'm much more conscious of where and how I spend my hard earned pesos. It feels great to know that I'm buying a product that's locally made from a company that provides jobs to the region. I can't WAIT until the new bed is delivered on Monday!! read more

I read up on Everrest mattress, including seeing they had a couple of complaints with the better business bureau. I decided to drop in to take a look. I was greeted byMatt, a very informative sales staff member who walked me through the variety of mattresses they have available. He took the time to describe the model differences, and did not try to "up sell" me into a mattress that would be above what I wanted. He was exceptional. I ended up purchasing from them, and would certainly do so again. read more

They only have 8 or so types of mattresses, and the other bed user and I could not agree on which one we liked best. The prices were great, and they do make double-sided mattresses (counter to the trends elsewhere) if you are old-skool and like to flip them. Very nice, friendly folks. Unfortunately it required a second (and almost a third) showroom and another 20 tested to find a compromise mattress. May you not have this problem. read more

We bought a mattress a year ago at Everrest. We started out shopping earler for a new mattess at the boutique places, but didn't want to pay their high prices. We were replacing a piece of crap mattress we got at Macy's about a year earlier, which sagged so bad after a year, that sleeping on it was intolerable. We were concerned about buying from Everrest, because their prices were so much lower than other places, we were afraid we wouldn't get a quality mattress. A year latere we couldnt be happier. don't be put off by the low prices. Excellent quality Still very happy with our purchases from them. Wound up buying two more after the first one. I am not sure what to think about this place anymore.... Years ago, I had a great experience when I purchased a mattress from this store. The sales person was very informative, seemed to take a lot of pride in the product, and even showed me the onsite warehouse where they made the mattresses! I got a good mattress at a good price, with free take away and delivery. Now that I am looking to replace my current mattress, I stopped by the Queen Anne site first, based on my previous experience. This time, things were a bit different. When I arrived at the store, I was happy to see they had some giant signs outside announcing a sale, so I figured my timing was great. However, when I tried to enter the store on a Saturday afternoon, the door was locked. This was curious indeed as the very door that was locked, had a large sign listing the hours it was open, and I was there during the posted time frame. I knocked a few times, and even peeked in the window, but no one opened the door, so I got back in my car. Just as I was about to start my car and drive away, the door opened and a guy who appeared to have just perhaps gotten out of bed, beckoned me inside. He seemed surprised that the door was locked, which I thought was odd, but since I was there, I decided to take a look around. I had a bit of a weird feeling as I was the only person in the store when he told me to lay down on a few beds and then stood there and watched me for a while. I was also surprised at how few mattresses they had, but he explained that most companies only made one-sided mattresses now and since I was interested in two-sided, which he said typically last longer, there were only 4 to choose from. When I asked about the sale, he said there was no sale, the signs were just there. I asked if I had to buy a box-spring and mattress and he said no. When I asked what the price difference would be, he said he'd knock about $75 off the price. Most of the double sided mattresses were between $400 - $700. When I asked about delivery and disposal of my old mattress, I was told there was a fee because, "The cost of fuel" is so high. He asked here I live, and I literally live less than 10 minutes from the store, so he said he thought he could deliver for $40. Maybe I visited the store on an off day. Maybe I really did wake the guy up. Whatever the case may be, I got out of there pretty quickly as I ended up feeling uncomfortable, and didn't like that they had up "Sale!" signs, when there was no sale. On top of that, after I went to the store, I found their website. Under Policies, their website indicates, "We offer free set up and free haul out of your old bed. Followed by, *Because of the high fuel prices, we are forced to charge a nominal $35.00 - $50.00 fee for delivery (most areas). If weather conditions change on the day of your delivery, ie. snow, ice, please be advised that we do not risk delivering on those days and will call to let you know the new delivery day. Thank you for your patience and drive safely." Shouldn't they just remove the free set up and free haul comment completely since obviously, they no longer honor that policy? All in all, too weird of an experience to go back, which is really too bad, as it looks like quite a few other people had pretty good experiences here. I'm rating them in the middle because my original experience was good, and my last experience may have just been an episode of The Twilight Zone. read more

Mattress sagged in the middle from the day I bought it. Everrest Mattress sent someone to my house to look at it and tell me that's just the way it's supposed to be. I was stuck with it and there was nothing Everrest Mattress would do. I spent a lot of money on that mattress and I was stuck with it until I could afford a new one. It's been two years, and my Everrest Mattress sags as bad as my previous mattress for the same price did at 8 years. Garbage products. Garbage service. You don't have take my word for it. When we went into the showroom, the salesman was straightforward and didn't try to upsell or tack on useless extras. Even though it was close to their closing time he let us take our time and try out each of the five mattress styles. I did not get the creepy used-car salesman vibe I get from those other big name mattress stores. The prices turned out to be lower than listed on their signs, always a nice surprise. We paid less than what we bought our old mattress for six years ago and the new one is a much nicer mattress. They were able to deliver the next day as well which was wonderful, since our old mattress was completely jacked up. The delivery guys were nice too! read more

You get what you pay for. Had a very poor experience with this company after they botched a delivery and charged me for a mattress disposal they verbally had said would be free. The delivery drivers somehow failed to see the old mattress in front of our garage in the rain as they walked past it to deliver the new one. When I called to ask them to come back and get it, I was told they wouldn't be able to come back for 3 days. This left the mattress in the rain for 3 days, which the neighbors were not too happy about. They will charge you for delivery, for disposal, may not dispose or deliver as promised... I can't speak to any of the complaints listed above, or on the BBB. I just wanted to share my story with owners of Everrest Mattress. I first found out about Everrest Mattress in the summer of 1999. I had just graduated from college. As a graduation gift to myself (with some help from graduation $), I had decided to buy myself a new bed. I did some preliminary shopping around town, and realized that any department store was way over my budget. At my graduation party, I was explaining my frustrations to my uncle about finding an affordable mattress. He reccommended I travel to Ballard and check out Everrest Mattress. So, the following week I did. When I arrived at the factory showroom, I was intrigued by the laid back nature of the environment. I laid around on the beds for 20+ minutes without a salesman breathing down my neck. I decided upon the Exquisite model. This summer I am upgrading to a Premium Pillowtop) While wrapping up the transaction, I got to talking with the owner. At some point in the conversation, I had mentioned that the rest of my day would be spent looking for a summer job. He had mentioned that he could use some summer help. The rest is Everrest Mattress history. I have worked there every summer (and some holidays) since. I want to take an opportunity to speak to just how much I love the owners of the company. Without worry, as the school year wears down, I call up the owner, and we set up a schedule that I will work for the two months that I have off over the summer. When someone questions the character of people I care about, I get angry. Especially people that are caring, kind, and fun to work for. These people have done more for me than anyone outside of my parents. Allow me to provide some examples: Every year I have recieved a raise with the more responsibility given to me. Every year I recieve a holiday bonus after only working for them a couple of months out of the year. Whenever I need some extra cash, I can pick up a shift or two. The guy buys lunch for his employees two or three times a week. (Unless you work for Microsoft, I bet your boss doesn't do this for you) Sure it is hard work, sure we have had some tense words, but I'll tell you, running a small business isn't easy. I have sold hundreds of beds, and helped 100's of repeat customers. Being in business since 1949 speaks for itself. read more

The mattress seemed good for 6 months, then lost it's bounce. I am not a heavy person, 185 lbs, and after 6 months of regular usage it had begun to sag. I have had other mattresses last for 5 years. When I attempted to speak to them about customer service, the owner was very rude and didn't want to have a conversation. I always try to support local businesses, but these guys won't be seeing any more of mine. Probably should just stick with larger department stores or larger local mattress groups. At least if someone is rude to you, there is a manager above the food chain who you can speak to. What do you do when the owner of a small business is rude to you? Well, there is no one higher up to complain to, and my friends, you eat it, same as I have. Bad ratings here. Seems other people have said similar things on here. Well after sleeping on the bed for a year now, and having flipped the mattress frequently, I now wake up every morning with back pain. Didnt realize that my bed was the source, as I was recently on vaca and slept on a couch and two different beds, and didnt have back pain at all, until i got home and slept in my bed again. I have bought mattresses from Everrest for over 20 years. These mattresses are made locally, which is a plus for me, and their prices are the best deal around. All you pay has gone into the product, not the showroom. It's a no pressure showroom with just the few models that they make. I slept on one of their mattresses for at least ten years, and it was only when we moved and rented the old house furnished, that I bought a new one. (My tenants thanked me the "great bed" . . . not knowing its age!) So now I have a new bed from Everrest, and this time I got to meet Geri, the delightful owner. Everrest is a welcome "blast from the past" when things were simpler and products were designed to last--how welcome in these times! Thanks, guys! For Christmas, my wonderfully generous, thoughtful and creative boyfriend made me a bed and not just any bed. His McKinnon trained hands crafted the cherry wood into a one of a kind, mission style, queen sized, platform bed. He worked before and after hours in the shop, to craft something truly beautiful. My squeals of delight couldn't possibly adequately express how excited and blessed I was to receive such a gift. My old full bed consisted of a metal frame and a mattress that bowed in the middle, which meant a lot of restless nights. Knowing that I had an awesome bed coming my way, I needed to purchase a new, better and bigger mattress (no box spring was needed) to complement it. Everrest Mattress was my second and last stop on my quest to finding my new mattress. In the showroom, there were five different mattresses to try out. The friendly salesman/owner was not pushy at all, but instead was very informative and willing to negotiate prices within reason (also the prices were among the lowest I had seen online and at other stores). Within 15 minutes of browsing the showroom, I had purchased my new pillow top mattress and was told it could be delivered as early as the morning of the next day. How's that for speedy? The delivery process was smooth too, since the delivery drivers called ahead to let you know when they were on their way, that way you don't have to wait around at the house all day hoping they might show. You know, I had a pretty bad experience with this company 3 years ago. I wrote in to the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint. I had a very positive experience buying from Everrest Mattress. They only carry five models of mattress, and the owner explained the pros and cons of each one, without trying to upsell us to the most expensive model, other than to explain that the two cheapest models were single-sided, and not really intended for everyday use - more of a guest-bedroom mattress. The prices at Everrest were great - far less than half of Sleep Country USA. The mattress we ended up with, the second-highest in their line (Premium Pillowtop), cost less than any mattress on the showroom floor at Sleep Country, and it is more comfortable than any of the Sleep Country mattresses I tested. They were able to deliver the mattress the next morning; my wife received the delivery while I was at work, and she said the delivery men were helpful and prompt. They took away our old mattress for no additional charge. I think delivery used to be free, but now the cost is $20 due to diesel fuel prices. Great price, great mattress, friendly staff, and no-pressure showroom. A+ read more

I like this company. My husband and I have purchased approximately 4-5 sets from Everrest in the past 20+ years since we got married and had children. We've always been pleased with the no-pressure sales, the customer service, and the price. We had only one issue with one mattress we purchased and they made it right. Terrible service. What an ordeal shopping here! So Bad. When our delivery was screwed up, they did not return for 4 days to pick up our mattresses. Apparently they run their trucks out of Marysville and only come to Seattle so often to pick things up. Customer support? Forget about it. My wife called the main office to speak to the owner who told her she 'Needed to shut up and listen" and that "She was the one who had screwed up the pickup". These were the cheapest mattresses we could find in Seattle, and there is likely a reason for that: you get what you pay for. Very rude people. read more

Oh brother these guys. What a pain buying a mattress here was. Bob is too tired to man the internet blogs (that is my new job in our household!!! ;) We were treated very poorly here after we shopped around quite a bit and decided on Everrest because of the price. Well, as mom used to say, you get what you pay for. I tell my kids this to no end now (should listen to my own advice). Robert fishes out of Seattle and we are both a little older so I needed to wait for him to get home to help get our guest room ready with new furniture which was too heavy for me to move. When we had to reschedule the delivery last year because he was going to be gone a little longer on the boat than we expected, you would have thought we asked the manager(owner?) for a kidney. He was extremely short with me, fussy and rude. Downright arrogant. I quote him 'We are going to do things my way, not yours, because I am the one in charge around here. Got it?!' I could not believe it was the person in charge as it sounded like it was maybe a gruff warehouse worker. I do not know his name, but what a prince. It sounds like I am not the only one who has had a problem. As I was reading this I thought, you know, it is kind of weird when the only people who have something nice to say about a company on a customer review site are the employees? (Wonder who put them up to that) Our experience was not as bad as the others it would seem, but I will give it one star since it sounds common. I usually opt for supporting the smaller local business, but Bob and I joke this was like dealing with the Soup Nazi character on Seinfeld. Reading these blogs more next time we buy furniture is probably something we should be doing. What happened to the ettiquite I used to get when I bought a mattress from the Bon Marche 25 years ago? The Bon even once took back a mattress we did not like after we had had it for a week and upgraded us to a king size for the same price as a queen. Sign of the times. I just bought my second mattress from Everrest Mattress. I bought my first mattress about 17 years ago, an extra firm, that is still being used my my step son. I replaced that mattress a few years ago with a Sleep Number thinking that since it's a lot more expensive, it has to be better. Not!! After two years of uncomfortable sleep, I figured to heck with it, I'm going back to Everrest. Since I'd been there 17 years ago, I knew what to expect. They only have half a dozen models or so. Which is fine with me. I ended up getting a King Extra Firm. I bought a memory foam topper separately. Anyway, I love my new bed. Great service, great price, and really nice folks. read more

I was told by a good friend about the company and went to get a mattress. I walkwed in tried the mattress and ordered it. They said that it would come on Thursday. I needed a box spring that was a certain height. The employee told me how to measure and call him back so I got the height I wanted. Well when it came, I was not home but it was two inches short of what I asked for. I called and told the employee that and all he said was add something to the bottom of your bed and no we can't take it back since it was open. This is a box spring not the mattress. Also, I told him that the mattress moved and he said "I never heard of that" and I will call you back. which he did nto do. I had to wait a couple of days and called and talked to his employee, and he said he would take care of it. It turns out that they did not make the box springs to order they had them already made , but not in the size I wanted. But the manager was very nice and said he would get me one, they brought one and it was too tall so I sent it back. My problem is the employee attitude and the service was awful. Lack of respect for the buyer, the property and banging things in the house and knocking pictures off the wall. I have a lot of antiques and I would never use their service people again. Very rude and not professional. I wish I could support them as a local business but not with the attitudes of their employees. RZ read more

In Nov 2012 we purchased a Premium Pillow Top Plush w/12 Year Warranty from Everest Mattress for $839. We did our homework & weeks of research. The company is local & the products are locally made, which we liked. It seemed like a good deal compared to other similar mattresses & the online reviews of their products & customer service were good. It seemed like a "no-brainer". We have had our mattress just over 2 1/2 years now. We have been "flipping in the fall" & "spinning in the spring" as instructed, but the mattress appears to be breaking down & failing miserably. We are very disappointed that it has not held up. We contacted Everest Mattress by phone to inquire about the warranty (which we never received a copy of at the time of purchase & they are not posted anywhere online). We were told someone would come to our home to examine the mattress & they would determine if the mattress needed to be replaced. We scheduled an associate out to take photos of our mattress. He stated he would submit the photos to the factory to determine if/how they would proceed in replacing our mattress & someone would be in touch. After a week, we hadn't heard back so we called to follow up & to request a copy of the warranty terms. We were told that a copy of the warranty would be mailed to us & that they had not yet heard anything back from the factory & that we needed to wait longer. After 2 weeks, we called back again & were told by Gerri that the photos that were taken were not sufficient & that they needed to come back again before they could make a decision. I explained that we had taken time off work to accommodate them the 1st time & that we still had not received a copy of the warranty. I explained that we had not slept on our mattress for close to a month due to discomfort & that we never expected it would take this long to exercise our warranty & that we would really like to resolve the matter & get into another mattress ASAP. Again I was told that a copy of our warranty would be mailed & that if we could just schedule a time to allow them to come out AGAIN to inspect the mattress that they promised they would have a decision made on the spot as to whether or not they would be willing to REPAIR our mattress. REPAIR?? I am then told that the warranty (which I have still never seen) covers REPAIRS TO THE MATTRESS. Not a refund, not store credit, not replacement but they take your mattress back to their factory & REPAIR it! I told Gerri that unfortunately we would rather cut our losses & go to Costco & purchase another mattress rather than hassle w/Everest Mattress & go w/out a bed for another day. At that point Gerri (worried about a bad review) agreed to come to our house the next morning & make a decision on the spot about our mattress. She said if she determined the mattress had failed that we could go to the showroom that day to pick a new mattress to be delivered that week. I agreed to have Gerri come @ 9:30 the next morning. 9:00 the next morning I received a call from Everest Mattress stating that Gerri could not make the appointment but they were willing to replace our mattress. We went to the showroom, picked a mattress to have delivered Thursday that week. On the morning of our scheduled delivery I received a call from Everest Mattress to tell me their delivery truck had broken down & the mattress would not be delivered that day. I was told that the mattress could be delivered that Saturday or the following Thursday. I explained that we had plans to be out of town Saturday & that I wasn't sure if we could arrange another day off work to be there the next Thursday. I told them I would check my schedule & call back to make arrangements. I called the next week to schedule delivery for the coming Saturday & was told that our mattress could only be delivered on a Thursday. I explained that we could not take another day off work & requested that they please deliver on Saturday. (Everest Mattress is about 1.5 miles from my home).The delivery driver stated that if I could not be there to get it on Thursday that I could come get it myself. When I explained that I drove a small car I was told to tie it to my roof (not sure how I would return their failed mattress). At that point, I agreed to be there for my lunch break during a 1 hour window on Thursday. I was told between 12-1 would be my delivery time. I made arrangements w/my employer to take lunch & be home during this time. Thursday morning, I received a call from the delivery driver stating the mattress would be delivered between 11:15-12:15. I explained I was told 12-1 the previous day. I was told if I couldn't be there,I would have to call & reschedule. I left work & met them @ 11:15. They delivered my new set & took my old set w/them.I later discovered they had left all the wrapping & trash sitting on my front porch. hello I am that sales person that justin h. dealt with...While some of what justin tells you is true..he omits things...he does not tell you that he lectured, and belittled me for 20 min...while i kept my cool, he then started in on the owner of the business...he did not feel that he needed to listen to his complaint any longer...and hung up...this seem to have made him mad, and he then decided to take it one step further,and file with the better business bureau..I can tell you that we have a policy of hauling out one set for one set...even justin tells you we did this...we are not a free dump service!!...I have worked for everrest mattress for 30 years, and have never felt it necessary to defend them...like any business , we have dissatisfied customers...but BY FAR we have many satisfied customers...a majority of our customers are repeat customers, or have been recommended to us...if justin thinks $500 is "a lot" to spend on a mattress set, he has not shopped around..I would like to thank him for his honesty when he says our product is very comfortable ..and that is why i will be at work tomorrow selling beds, and i will feel good about the product our customer gets...i would rate us 4 stars because i believe no one is perfect...Gloria read more
