When my grandson is home from college, this is our favorite place to visit. He is in awe of the many cuts of meat available, his main must-have is a big slab of New York Strip which he cuts himself. Everything you could want for your baking needs. They are pretty up to date with "what's happening" in cake/cookie/candy design. (a lot of stores just carry the outdated Wilton crap...ugh). They supply to a lot of retail stores nationally and have an excellent mail-order catalog if you are not in Fort Wayne. ((Los Angeles Residents: you can find some of CK Products at Gloria's Cake & Candy Supply--and if they don't have it, they will order it for you from CK)). Ah! I love this store. If you like baking, this store is a must for you! I went in on a recon mission to see what things I might want to buy for making a baby shower cake. I didn't intend on purchase anything but the prices were pretty reasonable and they had a large selection on everything; so I bought all of the items I needed that day. The gal at the register was really friendly; so was one of the other employees that was stocking some items. Another note on their selection of items; they have a wide variety of items. For example: They have every size and shape of cake pans. They also have different levels as far as pricing goes. There's a whole wall of candy molds on the back wall. An aisle with miscellaneous cardboard cake bases and boxes. There are varying sizes of fondant and buttercream. There's also a wall of cookie cutters. This is a great store! Anything you might want or imagine or cake, candy or cookie decorating. The staff was extremely helpful. I took a class on cake decorating there once and the instructor was very helpful and knowledgeable. I stumbled upon this company through Google shopping. I placed my order for 2 chocolate molds and needed them ASAP, selected next day shipping on my order and figured I was done. Order is on the way, Great! Simple right? Nope. Not for them. I got an email asking which shipping I would like to use. I thought I already selected that when I originally ordered?? I ended up getting a phone call at 6:45 am asking about the shipping method! So, I tried to call them back and could not get through. It was busy every time. I then contacted them through email and got a phone call back from the "Mail Order Department" and spoke to a man that was very rude to say the least. He had a snippy attitude as soon as I got on the phone with him. He sounded annoyed that he had to deal with my problem. He spoke to me slowly like I didn't understand and like I was ignorant. Not a great way to start a relationship with a client who could use them a lot for her business. I had a horrible experience with this company so far and will never ever order from them again. Will never set foot in this business again. I was berated in a gingerbread making class with my 5 year old daughter by the instructor. She embarrassed me in front of the whole class for having a gumball off my candy plate while decorating. She told me she had been watching me and that I was eating the candy. Have you ever heard of such nonsense? I asked to speak to a manager, and when she arrived in the room she was not any nicer. If you hate your job so much that you wish to berate customers that have spent money on a class to enjoy quality time with their child, you need to find another line of work. I have been told to call and speak with Mindy on Monday, which I intend to do. What a creepy, strange encounter. My whole family (we bought four gingerbread houses) were all scared of this woman instructor. She obviously hates her life and her job, and that's sad for sure, but take your bad mood and horrible disposition somewhere else. Disgusting. read more
