    The best.

I just want to update this review to say that I have tried many more donuts in the years since I wrote this review. In fact, I have started a Donut Wednesday tradition and now eat a donut every Wednesday. I've tried donuts coast to coast. My review is still accurate. These (specifically cinnamon caramel) are the best. I came back to town for a few days and this was my #1 food priority.

Rise' N Roll is the place if you're looking for "Amish Crack." These famous cinnamon caramel donuts are pretty addictive, hence the name. You can find them in donut holes too. There are also plenty of other options at the bakery if you're not a big donut fan, such as Amish goods and candy. On my most recent visit I purchased a mug. Since I don't live in Indiana any more, I figured it would be a nice souvenir to take home with me. Did you know that if you buy one of their mugs you get free coffee too? That's such a fun perk. So, if love coffee with your donut, this is a great way to save some money and get a cool mug in the process since they will give you free coffee each time you bring your mug into the shop.

We absolutely love, rise and roll and always have to make a stop at least once during our trip trips up to Fort Wayne. The quality of these baked goods are out of this world. They are literally some of the best donuts you will ever eat in your life. We ordered three donuts. They were all super fresh and baked that day. We also love their gravy so we ordered a few savory items. The egg muffin was so good especially with gravy on top. The hashbrowns were very crispy and nice and come with ketchup. Everything is very affordably priced. The bakery itself has a nice layout and we usually get some things to go to take on our trip home. They also have some nice items like mugs and other things that you can buy for a trip. They have a good refrigerator section with some good milk selections and juices and also some pies and other cold items that are baked as well. The staff is of course extremely friendly. The tables are clean and the bathroom is very clean and nice. We absolutely love this establishment and can't wait to be back on our next trip.

I am from out of town but grew up in Fort Wayne and still have family here so I keep up to date on the local food news here. I intended to come in for the famous Amish crack donut but, predictably, they were out at 2pm on a Saturday. So instead, I got another popular option, the cinnamon caramel Bavarian creme. Filled donuts are $1.99. It's a MASSIVE donut and took me like 5 minutes to eat! (Granted, I am a slow eater.) It was definitely a higher calorie donut than what I planned on getting, but they were "worth it" calories. Take a look at the pictures. The cross-section is amazing! Since it was my first time visiting, they walked me through their options and the goods for sale at their store. And to my surprise, they gave me a fresh brewed coffee for free! Apparently, anyone can come in and get a 8 oz coffee for free! On the side, next to the tables and chairs, they have a variety of creamers and sugar you can add to your coffee. I wish this was open when I was in high school. Since I'd have to drive by this place on my way to school, I would have stopped by here very often for a not-so-healthy breakfast every school day! It's probably a good thing, health-wise, that this place opened after I left town, actually... Overall, I'll try to get to this side of town more often when I'm in Fort Wayne. This bakery is worthy of all the awards!

These things are not your run of the mill donuts. These bad boys are crazy good! Not sure what the amish are putting in them but we bought a dozen and were able to snack on them for several days without a change of taste or texture. The amish crack were aptly named, because I could come back for more! The shop also sells a variety of items (jams, jellies, cakes, pies, etc) We happened to stroll by on Free donut day, which my buddy informed me happens pretty frequently.

These box of donuts were definitely a conversation starter from my flight back from Fort Wayne! Indianans know what's up with these and I'm so glad my friend showed me this donut spot! In the beginning I figured they just meant the donuts were good for the area, but these really are a different experience! The dough is a soft chewy texture different than most donuts I've had. I ordered the classic cinnamon sugar caramel one and their toffee Bismarck crunch both were absolutely delicious. The toffee crunch was very sweet but the house made toffee was buttery and yummy. The classic ones were a bit better in my opinion because they weren't too sweet but were still very addicting. If you find yourself near this donut shop I would definitely recommend giving it a try!

Shop area- lots of specialty made jams, jellies, etc.

Yum, yum, yummmmm!!! We heard about these and they are definitely all that was promised. I see why this place has a line. Nice "country-feel".

Delicious donuts, but beware they're so good you'll want more even though one is enough to give you a sugar high for several hours and two is enough to fill you up. Also free coffee with purchase! Reasonably priced, but everyone knows how good this place is, so it can be a wait on weekend mornings.

Rise and roll bakery and deli has the best donuts in Fort Wayne. They are famous for their caramel cinnamon donut however I am a huge fan of their maple glazed. The shop is a little bit small so it is a bit crowded if you plan on eating there. We typically just carry out donuts and other bakery items. Another personal favorite is there bread.

The variety of restaurants or ethnic food available for purchase at grocery stores is laughably low. So i heard about George's International Market and checked out their website. I was really excited to try it because it gave the impression of being "International" and i love a wide variety of foods. I decided due to this to make the long drive into Fort Wayne to check this place out. My first impression of this place was confusion. Just inside the store you find a statue of a lion holding a shield, a statue of Elvis, and a third statute of Marilyn Monroe in her famous skirt scene. I am unsure what this has to do with a supermarket. I then walked into the actual market and was surprised at how much smaller it looks than in the website. I also discovered as I began exploring that its "international" designation is a bit overstated. It does have food from one or two European countries but its mostly hispanic and really mostly Mexican. Was i a bit disappointed? Yes. That said, i did find a lot of food that my culture also loves in here that overlaps. Firstly, i found actual green plantains! Usually in the supermarkets near my home they sell plantains but they are rarely green. To be able to fry some up and have tostones! Yes!!!!! I also found other products my family and I would love including plantain chips, malta, yuca, tamales, Jamaican patties, and croquettas. The croquettas were of the frozen variety and sadly only in chicken, i prefer ham. I was also very happy when I found Pineapple Nectar for my mom. She loves the stuff and hasn't had any since we moved! So i did end up buying quite a bit when I came here and i will likely come back again. I hope they continue to expand what they have available for sale here, though.

I have come to appreciate the freshness of their sandwiches lately. My wife had the chicken Caesar wrap. She liked the moist chicken, light tasting dressing and soft wrap. The potato salad was fairly standard with most. It had a nice mustard-mayo taste and consistency. It might have been a little heavy on the mayo. The egg and celery were good touches. Very smooth! The McAlister Club sandwich was filed high with delicious turkey and ham. The Swiss and cheddar cheese...plus toppings made a nice sandwich. The white bread was nicely toasted without being overly crispy. Just enough mayo to blend the tastes. The 1/2 salad, on the 2 choice deal, is enough for a whole meal. It's a real club salad. All the fresh meats, cheeses and toppings. Lots of croutons. The honey mustard dressing is thick and spicy. All blended to an enjoyable taste. The Mac & cheese side was rather small. The noodles were a bit mushy and over cooked. The cheese sauce comes off a bit "institutional". Perhaps a flavor that you would find at school or a place who isn't focused on a designer Mac & cheese. It was very creamy and had a mild cheese flavor. I liked the tee shirts the staff was wearing to promote their tea. McAlister's special tea is like drinking a hug - per the shirt. The tea has a nice smooth/warm/soothing taste. It kind of reminds you of a southern style tea. However, it isn't over the top sugary. It also doesn't have a bold strong tea taste. It's good...and I almost felt the hug lol.

Sunday around noon o'clock and it was pretty a pretty busy place. We reached the corner to place our order after a short wait and the gentleman behind the corner took our order. He spoke very quietly and I felt bad having to ask him to repeat nearly everything. After we gave him our order and he repeated it I questioned it if it was right. At the point another employee came back and asked us what it was. It turns out he was a new employee and still finding his way. No problem. No one starts out an expert at anything. The nice lady got it straightened out and we sat down to wait. A few minute later a manager came by and apologized and said he thought our order wasn't entered correctly. We told him that was the case originally, but it was corrected by another employee and it was good now. The food took about ten minutes and wasn't presented as the prettiest meal I've ever eaten. Both lids on my Jalapeño Turkey Crunch appeared to be sliding off the side and the pickled looked like it had been mushed in the hands of a toddle, barely resembling a pickle. It made it a VERY messy, high-napkin-utilization meal. While the tables were addressed quickly after diners leaving, the floors were another story. Yes, it was lunch rush, but at the same time it takes a micro-second to pick up an errant straw wrapper or napkin. This location has a nice outside seating area with several table and umbrellas. It was a bit too hot/humid for us to eat outside, but in better weather we'd have absolutely eaten outside.
