I used to get their donuts when I lived in Carmel all the time. I was so happy to see a location out here by my friend. I got a cinnamon caramel Bavarian and it was delicious but very messy. The custard was very yummy and creamy. I do wish the Bavarian cream was a bit more dispersed throughout but it's still delicious. I also got a blueberry cake for later and I'm excited to warm that up and eat it. My friend got a cinnamon caramel donut, which is the OG. Their donuts are always fresh and soft. We absolutely love, rise and roll and always have to make a stop at least once during our trip trips up to Fort Wayne. The quality of these baked goods are out of this world. They are literally some of the best donuts you will ever eat in your life. We ordered three donuts. They were all super fresh and baked that day. We also love their gravy so we ordered a few savory items. The egg muffin was so good especially with gravy on top. The hashbrowns were very crispy and nice and come with ketchup. Everything is very affordably priced. The bakery itself has a nice layout and we usually get some things to go to take on our trip home. They also have some nice items like mugs and other things that you can buy for a trip. They have a good refrigerator section with some good milk selections and juices and also some pies and other cold items that are baked as well. The staff is of course extremely friendly. I am from out of town but grew up in Fort Wayne and still have family here so I keep up to date on the local food news here. I intended to come in for the famous Amish crack donut but, predictably, they were out at 2pm on a Saturday. So instead, I got another popular option, the cinnamon caramel Bavarian creme. Filled donuts are $1.99. It's a MASSIVE donut and took me like 5 minutes to eat! (Granted, I am a slow eater.) It was definitely a higher calorie donut than what I planned on getting, but they were "worth it" calories. Take a look at the pictures. The cross-section is amazing! Since it was my first time visiting, they walked me through their options and the goods for sale at their store. And to my surprise, they gave me a fresh brewed coffee for free! Apparently, anyone can come in and get a 8 oz coffee for free! On the side, next to the tables and chairs, they have a variety of creamers and sugar you can add to your coffee. I wish this was open when I was in high school. Since I'd have to drive by this place on my way to school, I would have stopped by here very often for a not-so-healthy breakfast every school day! It's probably a good thing, health-wise, that this place opened after I left town, actually... Overall, I'll try to get to this side of town more often when I'm in Fort Wayne. These box of donuts were definitely a conversation starter from my flight back from Fort Wayne! Indianans know what's up with these and I'm so glad my friend showed me this donut spot! In the beginning I figured they just meant the donuts were good for the area, but these really are a different experience! The dough is a soft chewy texture different than most donuts I've had. I ordered the classic cinnamon sugar caramel one and their toffee Bismarck crunch both were absolutely delicious. The toffee crunch was very sweet but the house made toffee was buttery and yummy. The classic ones were a bit better in my opinion because they weren't too sweet but were still very addicting. I don't give 5 stars lightly or often. This little donut shop certainly lives up to the hype. If you're in the area, you should definitely make a stop!!! We found this shop based on the awesome yelp reviews - thanks!! If course we had to try some of the most popular donuts. Cinnamon caramel - it's sweet without being over powering. Also, don't hold it vertically because all of the magical toppings will fall off!!! Don't rush and enjoy the ride. It's really worth enjoying it fresh at the shop. I liked how the dough was soft and moist without being greasy/oily tasting. Pecan sticky bun - I tried it purely based on others' reviews. It was the last one in the case. Perhaps I should've had it the same day. I waited until the following day and I found it to be a little on the dry side. The pecan topping was still delicious but over a little disappointing. Tip - they offer free small coffee which is so cool! We enjoyed the donuts we ate there that we had to get some more to go. I loved the one with lemon filling - excellent flavor without tasting too sugary. I wished I ordered two of them!! Next time I'm in Fort Wayne I will definitely make another stop. You should too!! Amish Crack Did I get your attention? Lol! The locals refer to the Cinnamon Carmel Doughnut as Amish Crack. This is both delicious and addicting. It's basically a glazed doughnut that is covered with Carmel and cinnamon powdered sugar. The flavors go very well together and provide a delicious flavor that is not overwhelming. That old fashioned taste is awesome. They had samples of this doughnut out on the counter to try before you buy them. We were there for lunch and purchased some delicious sandwiches. Order: Soup & sandwich- a cup of cheddar broccoli and a 1/2 Rise n' Roll King - Chicken, Bacon, and Colby Cheese toasted on a Bacon Onion Cheddar Sub Bun with Ranch and Veggies. Explorers Temptation - Ham and Swiss Cheese toasted on a Cinnamon Raisin Bun with Mayo, Red Raspberry Jam, and Veggies. Dessert Fruit pizza - cake base with a powdered sugar cream cheese layer, lemon jello and then topped with fruit. The sandwiches were excellent, and the soup was tasty. The dessert fruit pizza was ok, it just wasn't my fav. TIP - small coffee is free, it's very smooth and all around great coffee. This bakery is home of all the Amish, and makes a great breakfast or lunch stop! We were on the road and this was a perfect place to stop for lunch. I got the half sandwich and soup option. The number 1 sandwich, is basically a chicken bacon ranch, but it's called the rise n roll king. The sandwich was tasty and juicy! The broccoli cheese soup was a little thinner than I'm used to, but the flavor was there. The cinnamon Carmel donut, which they are known for is very good! Go try one! Small coffees are free. This donut shop is what dreams are made of. I am putting Rise 'n Roll on my list of my best "discoveries" of 2015. My first visit was yesterday and I was so blown away that I returned today. I usually go for filled donuts but when the super friendly employee found out it was my first visit she offered me a sample of their most popular donut, cinnamon caramel. After one bite I immediately ordered half a dozen. I also ordered a few of the newest donut that another friendly employee suggested, I think it was called raspberry chocolate truffle? The cinnamon caramel donuts are indescribably delicious. Not overly sugary-sweet but just the right amount of cinnamon-y sweetness. They are soft and absolutely melt in your mouth. The raspberry chocolate truffle was completely filled with the most delicious fluffy, fruity raspberry cream. I have been disappointed with filled donuts from other shops because they contain about a teaspoonful of cream in a giant donut. Well....the donuts here are completely filled with loads of luscious cream. And again, the cream is not overly sugary-sweet but creamy and fluffy with the taste of the raspberry very pronounced. All the employees were very sweet and friendly. Helpful, too, making great suggestions and recommendations. I can promise that anytime I am anywhere near Ft. Last year this time the cute name and font on Rise n' Roll's sign caught my eye out of the strip mall blandness that is Illinois Road. I went in and picked up some home made noodles, soup mixes, granola and preserves for gifts. Back in the area again and a Yelper I saw the five-star rating and well, I'm a sucker for a five star rating. I knew I needed to overcome my "health conscious" mindset and just give in to the carb bomb, blood sugar spiking offerings of the Rise n' Roll bakery case. Well.... I was going to take a picture of my pecan maple sticky bun, but I ate it too fast. It was the BEST sticky bun I've ever had. Generous amount of pecans on top and huge portion for 3.25 (with tax). The bun filled my entire to go container. I also loved the syrup, and the fact it was sitting in the bottom of the container so the bun was able to soak it up. I'm sure it is awful for you but it is soooo good. Holy crap! All I've ever heard was crack donuts when people talk about Rise'N Roll. Of course I went on the worst day ever... Fat Tuesday... but good news guys they have paczkis till the end of the month. Anyways I got the breakfast #3 a slice of toasted sausage loaf (bread with meat in it) with sausage gravy. I also snagged a few of these crack donuts to give them a try. The gravy looks and tastes homemade which is awesome and the bread was jam packed with meat.... definitely enough for a full breakfast.
