The indoor part of the facility used to be a supermarket or department store, so it is quite large. The whole place is clean, well lit, and the air conditioning is better than I expected. Nicely cool in the summer, and comfortably warm in the winter. My unit was on the end, right near the curbside door, but I noticed looking down the aisles that they are very wide, if you wanted to access your unit while the tenant across did the same, there would be no problem. The roll-up door worked smoothly, and the built-in lock eliminates having to buy or supply a padlock. There are always plenty of flatbed carts available. Not 24 hour access, but you can get in 7:30 am to 10 pm every day, holidays included. Office staff very friendly and helpful, and the managers live onsite. Even when the office was closed, a few times when I went to my unit, I saw one of the managers, so they don't close up the office and disappear. Although I didn't have a need for it, I noticed they have plenty of room for outside storage (like vehicles & equipment) and again, it is clean and well organized. If I ever need storage again, I will definitely return here.

The gentleman i talked to was friendly and accomodating and scheduled me for a 9:00 meeting on Saturday to sign the paperwork and show me where the unit was located. On Saturday, in 25 degree weather, my husband, myself and one year old daughter ventured out there for our meeting. As we stood in front of the door there was a sign saying "closed-call this number for information" we called the number and explained that we had an appointment and the service received was horrible. He told us that our meeting wasn't on the schedule and he could be there in an hour but "why did i have to see it today when i wasn't needing it for another week and a half". Well that was in fact correct, i hadn't NEEDED to see it that day- i was scheduled for that day so i showed up. i then asked the man for some sort of conselation for our wasted time/gas/ poor service (I asked for some money off or an upgrade to a larger unit). he said that he couldn't do anything and that i should just "find another place to rent" i am normally not one to write reviews- especially negative ones- but this was just bad business. I know that me leaving isn't going to break their business by any means but in a city like Apex you expect better customer service. 1. For a place called Security Self Storage, the gate is most certainly not secure. There have been…read moremany times where it fails to close, fails to open, and the keypad that's supposed to be inside. The gate has been destroyed, so there's no way to get out in an emergency without a vehicle. 2. Parking 'pits' instead of using ABC stone, they used cheap gravel with no fine bits in between. If you know anything about having a gravel driveway without the fine bits, your truck will just sink in where it's parked. If you don't have a trailer or it's not a big deal, if you're bringing a trailer or a camper, it will make it noticeably harder to maneuver. 3. Customer service: I brought the following issues to their attention. Nothing was done; they said it's normal for facilities to need maintenance or something along those lines. Additionally, it's no surprise that their computer system is unreliable as well. I've had to go in and pay my bill manually almost every single month. I was sick in May and did not go in manually to pay the bill, and they slapped me with a $100 late fee and threatened to auction my equipment. I emailed the manager -- Patrick -- back the same day, letting him know I was out sick and I would log in and make the payment, but requested the late fees to be removed due to their system error. They refused. I have no way to look at my storage contract because they make you put your initials in on the computer in the office, and then they fill out the contract themselves. I have no idea what it says, so at the end of the day, I ended up paying the hundred-dollar late fee to prevent them from auctioning off $100,000 worth of equipment. Overall, their business practices are opaque, and straight up extortionate, and there are tons of other storage options. .
