Go-go-go R-Line! I'm not a huge fan of buses, spent 5 years riding the Muni in San Francisco,…read morepacked like sardines but the R-Line is fantastico! Clean, free and punctual always works in my book. The service has only been running about a year or so but I'm starting to use it more frequently now that I'm in good enough shape (hah!) to waddle over to the nearest stop on Glenwood! With the new real-time tracking app, it's also become really easy to time your trips and catch a bus easily. The buses are clean and comfortable and the drivers are pretty cool too. So while Raleigh-ites may still be used to using their cars, give the R-Line a shot the next time you're out drinking downtown. Save yourself some gas and money on the R-Line. It's the right thing to do in so many ways...

I parked up near where I would end up the night (around The Borough) and then took the R Line down to the Moore Square area to enjoy the World Beer Festival at the evening session. It worked out pretty good, took the R Line back and continued my night. The handiest part is the phone app tracking the buses (there are two circulating counterclockwise in the route loop in the downtown area). You know when to expect the next bus and time your arrival at the stop with it, with a little "you are here" icon for reference. Great feature, no guessing on when the next bus can come for you. For more info on downloading the app and other info on the R Line, try here: http://www.godowntownraleigh.com/get-around/r-line to read up. The most attractive part is that it is FREE. Free ride, free wifi, free free free...free is good. Free is tremendously awesome (or awesomely tremendous, whichever). Coupled with very clean and well maintained buses that are also hybrid electric buses that help everyone be environment-friendly, it's a good deal all around. You will usually see a bus every 10-15 minutes, being that there are usually two buses going on the 20-30 minute total loop. They do run late night till 215a on Thurs-Sat, for all the bar hoppers out there, but be careful around end of running time I hear...get out there well before the hours end to make sure you hit that last loop. I do wish they had better Sunday hours though, 1p-8p is pretty limited but it's great they even do have those hours period for Sunday. Later Sunday hours would allow for more dining hours type of utilization, I'd think. Bottom line: R Line is a great and free mode of getting around DTR. Great way to see downtown as well if you get the chance. Two thumbs up!

I was heavily sedated by prescription medications that I was just prescribed by doctors from Cape Fear Valley Express Center for sciatic nerve damage, in which the doctors explained to me that I would experience drowsiness and sleepiness. I fell asleep at the bus station waiting for the number 12 bus to go home. I felt a hard poking in my shoulder then heard a manly female voice saying sir, you need to wake up. It startled me at first because I have schizophrenia, so when I looked up half way drowsy still, it was a female security officer that worked security for the bus station. When she got my attention, she said sir you can't sleep in here. Then she left. Needless to say, I tried to stay awoke as long as I could, still waiting for my bus to come, but I ended up dosing off again. The next time the same security female officer approached me along with another bus station security guard (white male) and a Fayetteville police officer (black male) and the white male security guard said to me," sir we need you to leave these premises". And I said for what, because I'm here waiting for my bus. The black police officer said to m," let me see your bus ticket ". I told him that I'm waiting for the city bus, NOT the Greyhound. Then the police officer said, " well sir, these people are asking you to leave the premises so you need to leave". And I asked," For What?" "None of them gave me a reason or logical explanation on why they were demanding me to leave the premises. So I said" I'll leave when my bus gets here. Making a long story short, the black police officer said "sir if you don't leave, you'll be arrested". I didn't respond back to this threat whatsoever. Then he said "So you're not going to leave huh?" I just basically continued to remain silent. So the black police officer walks outside and comes back in less than a minute it seems with two(2) other Fayetteville police officers. The black police officer said "Ok sir, I'm giving you one last chance to leave"; And I said," I'll leave when my bus gets here". The black officer then told me to stand up and place my hands behind my back in which I complied with no resistance, and asked what am I being charged for? And one of the other police officer said I'm being charged with Trespassing. So I was arrested and taken to jail. They also searched me and my belongings as if they were looking for narcotics or weapons of mass destruction. I don't have all of their names at the moment but I do have documents and there is also video surveillance and eyewitnesses.

The young lady who was there wasn't as helpful as the bus drivers who were on standby. Needless to say, my family was accommodated and reassured by the bus driver concerning their seating with a handicapped child and they were pleased. Location and ideal of the new station was long overdue for Fayetteville. I would say with a few minor tweaks, this location could be a prime location for bus transportation throughout the city and around the state.

From my initial call to Ms. Ruth, she was professional and answered the phone to schedule the appointment. Although she was in a meeting, Ms Ruth returned my call as promised. We worked as a team for a solution to securely assist me down the steps in front of my home until I was safely inside. Ms. Ruth is my angel and knightess in shining armor. I highly recommend this transportation service to anyone looking for an affordable service. They partner with the city for those approved to use the access I-ride program.
