THE SETUP There are so many Thai and Mexican restaurants to enjoy (our favorite cuisines right now) that are reasonably priced. Voodoo Donuts is always a fun stop to grab a baker's dozen of some pretty special Choco-Peanut donut masterpieces to take back home with us. The city is rampant with brazen criminals who care nothing for cameras, etc as Noone will act. The…read moreloudmouth people who are so concerned with the rights of criminals and have castrated the ability of the police to actually do anything that the unfortunate victims are the people who have homes and property. There is open fetanol use on the streets, more protection for a homeless person who deliberately jumps into traffic just to endanger the property life and limb of drivers and then gives you the finger than the driver who did nothing wrong. They say, oh the campus is so nice, with its own additional police force. And the trees so green, with a trash strewn homeless camp under it. Probably on someone's property but they aren't allowed to make them leave, or "harass" them or face charges for doing that. There is a view of a 18 year resident of this city to what it has become. God forbid you move here and become another victim. Yah, the theives prowl the nice neighborhoods too. They all have stolen bikes so everyplace is within their reach.

You could definitely have it worse. 3 meals a day that all taste the same, mostly petty crime inmates, beds hurt your back, and you better know your phone numbers or else the phones useless. I can't say I was a fan of finding every length and color of hair embedded in my blanket, but again, it's jail. Definitely need a better book selection. Everything felt akin to To Kill a Mockingbird, and there were more bibles than any other book; depressing. The screamers and door stompers made sleeping hell. The guards are friendly if shown respect, they're not stingy with coloring supplies or board games. The messages on the walls can be gloomy, the crosses etched in everywhere didn't help either, but you'll definitely pray at some point in spite of it all. Be courteous, mindful of your mistakes, and try to make the most of it and you won't end up in a suicide smock. One day at a time. It can change your life, and I mean for the better. Be open to that. Everyone makes mistakes. Fools never stop. If I have any advice: collect all the juice packets, don't talk about your case, you can have up to 10 books, ask a guard for ear plugs, drink lots of water so you don't waste toilet paper, ask questions, make jokes, and let people sleep...

Unfortunately, I didn't have my new debit card with me, as well as cash and she told me that it was okay. That she has my back. It was only .49 but she took care of it for me. I am very grateful to her, Mike and the others for all they do, going above and beyond to help customers, and provide great value to all of us who visit.
