This Restaurant has comfortable seating and a pleasant atmosphere. The South wall of mostly windows, overlooks the golf course. The restaurant is carpeted, with plush furniture, inviting diners to enjoy intimate conversation; a rare dining pleasure in many restaurants these days. I don't recommend the Thai noodles (don't get this), but I highly recommend the chicken piccata. It's fabulous! Unfortunately it's not on the menu every day. The French onion soup and shrimp tacos are also very good. Especially when they have the Thai chili sauce version. I will be back for the chicken piccata! But unless they put it on the menu I'll need to call ahead first to find out if it's featured as a special. I will also be back for the comfortable enjoyable atmosphere. read more

Unfortunately, during our visit to this area our last meal was here and compared to everything else we had it just did not really impress us. Now compared to many places this general area does not have world class dining so comparing quality needs to be factored in. It also needs to be said that this is a hotel restaurant so if you are staying here and don't want to leave for a meal then give it a try. I can only speak to breakfast, maybe they are far better for lunch or dinner. The inside is kinda what you expect from an outdated hotel restaurant and could use some sprucing up. The highlight of the overall vibe is the window view of the golf course. Staff was friendly but speed wise of how long our food took was extremely slow especially considering so few tables were taken the day we went. Lastly, the food was forgettable and breakfast wise would be a skip if you were to ask me. Menu is also quite small and limited, look elsewhere before deciding to dine here. read more

They need to update their website with current menu items as well as pricing, keep in mind they add a 10% service gratuity to take away orders as of recently. We didn't stay at the Best Western, but we met with some family in the area for a breakfast. They easily accommodated our group of around 12. We sat with a nice view of the golf course. The staff was prompt and friendly, the inside needed a bit of cleaning (especially the windows), but overall it wasn't terrible. We all ordered breakfast, I went with - The North Country - two eggs any style | home fries | choice of meat and toast $9 - Had my eggs over easy with bacon. It was your regular average breakfast. Nothing bad, just simple. Others in our party had French Toast and Pancakes. My boys each had the Kids Pancake which is in the shape of Mickey Mouse (one larger round for the face and two smaller for the ears) with chocolate chips. The coffee was ok. One note their menu says they proudly serve Sweeter Creations Maple Syrup from nearby Waddington, NY. I thought that was pretty cool! Another note - make sure you ask for Buffalo sauce if you want it with your eggs instead of hot sauce. They brought me Texas Pete, meanwhile a family member asked for Buffalo and got much better sauce! Have been going here for five years through business travel and it has its ups and downs. Food used to be great and good quantity and bar was same now, not so. When I get there from hard days work, I like to go and drink and eat, so I'm not that picky, last few visits were not good at all, so so service and average at best food. They used to have popcorn who was nice with a couple of cold beers, that's gone, really in my opinion, they need new mgmt. new menu. I have been to this restaurant several times over the years and found it good, this time, however, it was not. We were seated quickly as they were not busy at all. Upon being seated the waitress asked if we wanted water and drinks. I replied water and a Coke/Pepsi. The water arrived but the beverage never came. About 15 minutes later our order was taken. I ordered a French Dip with Au jus and a salad with ranch dressing while my wife ordered clam chowder and a Caesar salad. The waitress asked if we would like our salads first. We said, "yes." Forty-five minutes later our entire order arrived. Well, minus salad dressing, Au jus and a spoon for my wife's soup. After this was rectified we did not see our waitress again until the bill was handed to me. The salads were adequate. The soup was a strange mixture with a heavy dose of potatoes. My French Dip had soggy bread, more than likely microwaved with over cooked beef. All in all a sub par experience. read more

Was in town for business and stayed at the Best Western and was happy to see that they had an attached restaurant and bar. I tried lunch and dinner. Lunch was chicken tenders and tater tots. They were my favorite kind of chicken tenders so I appreciated the flavor. The presentation was in one of those appetizer cone things and I wish it would have been on a plate because they needed to be cut; the way it was served I could only use my fingers until I asked for a plate. For dinner I had a pepper jack burger and it had good flavor. Because it was a long day, I tried the Irish Cream Cheescake and it was delicious! Best part of both meals! I've had pretty good meals in town on previous visits, but it was cold enough that I decided it was worth staying at the hotel and giving County Seat Restaurant a try. I wish I'd looked at the other Yelp reviews before making my decision, as I definitely wish I'd gone somewhere else. I trusted the waitress to let me know what was good, and ordered the dish she recommended the most, a salmon dish with a honey glaze. The salmon was a poorly cooked, previously frozen filet of sub-par quality. I wasn't expecting fresh or amazingly cooked, but I was still let down. The mashed potatoes it was served on were bland, instant mashed potatoes that I wouldn't expect anywhere but the cheapest of buffets. The honey glaze was overly sweet, and the vegetables were previously frozen, but tasted fine. I also chose soup instead of salad after being told the soup was freshly made in the kitchen. It was acceptable. Not something I'd ever want to order again, but one of the better parts of the meal. I was also served two warmed slices of white bread with margarine. I asked if they had butter, but they did not, and I wasn't that interested in filling up on slices of bread anyway, so I didn't eat more than a few bites of one slice. The other item, other than the soup, that was reasonable was the order of onion petals, which I actually enjoyed. They are the main reason for two stars. The waitress, on one of her few visits to my booth, asked how things were, and I told her my honest opinion. She said, "Oh, that's too bad," as if she's used to the feedback and didn't offer to replace the potatoes or any other option to make the meal more palatable. After deciding I didn't want any more unappetizing fish or mashed potatoes, I did decide to give the desert menu a try, as I wanted to at least leave the restaurant full. I ordered the chocolate cake which was overpoweringly sweet, dry and had hard icing. Again, very disappointing and I ate less than half. During all of this, the restaurant had only a handful of tables that were full, yet my glass of iced tea spent more time empty than full. Had breakfast twice and room service for dinner while I was staying at the Best Western. The host and servers were all very helpful and professional. I had the veggie eggs Benedict and it was amazing! The basil hollandaise was phenomenal, eggs poached perfectly, and the avocado adds to the creamy flavors of the dish. I can't believe that the first review I read here mentions flies!! We had two meals here, solid "ugh" For a university town, it's completely devoid of restaurants, it's almost spooky. Anyway, as the poster below indicated...the place is SWARMING with FLIES! it's comically disgusting! If you're there in the morning, with sunlight spilling in through the dirty windows, you can make out hundreds of flies buzzing around inside the restaurant. The North Country Breakfast was tepid at best ( not much heat left in content). Bacon was over cooked, home fries contained mainly snipped end cuts of potatoes, and the "homemade toast" was out of a Mrs. Friehofer (or similar brand) bag. I brought my 6 year old autistic son to this venue last night for dinner. It is a quiet, comfy place to go for a good meal. Sports on the TVs if you want to watch the game. Good drink specials. I got a buffalo shrimp flatbread that was pretty tasty and a cobb salad with avocado and house made blue cheese dressing. The kids menu was pretty standard, although my son thought that the "Peanut Butter and Jelly Panini" was fun! He stuck with the cheeseburger and tater tots (which came in a little "fry basket"-super cute! He called it the tater tot jail!) hahaha. Service was quick. My water stayed refilled (and I drink fast) and my son's lemonade stayed refilled as well. My son said "I like Mikayla!" (And so did I). She was very professional, professionally dressed, and kind. The restaurant was clean and there was a small sitting area in front of a fireplace that my son and I enjoyed after our dinner. There is a bar for folks wanting to meet friends for drinks after work. We were two for dinner and started with the spinach artichoke dip, it was delicious. Our main courses were the Thai chein chicken and the butternut chèvre with bow tie pasta. Both entrees were good, but the chicken was a little too hot, for our taste. The Chef, Kevin, came out and gave us lots of detailed information on the menu especially the entrees. Noon reservations were made for the three of us at the county seat restaurant for the Thanksgiving Buffet. Big disappointment and yes a waste of money. The two tossed green salad bins were near empty. Prime rib was sliced in 2X4 pieces, well done, not the medium rare that was requested and so tough, it could not be chewed. The turkey was bland and dried out. Fisherman scampi was devoid of any flavor and so far everything was either cold or luke warm. No sign of the seafood newburgh that was advertised on the menu. Mashed potatoes were a hit or miss. frozen squash,,runny and devoid of any taste. Desserts were frozen and also lacked any flavour. Our service was sporadic. As we left the lobby, there were several attendants standing around, but not one soul asked about our dining experience. I give it a one star, only because the coffee was good and hot. Sad isn't it? We had been long time customers and obviously locals. It's been very disappointing since management changed. We have not returned since March. The meal was horrible. All the burgers were well over cooked to the point if no real taste. Furthermore, the bartender was flat out rude. The majority of the clientele were hockey fans watching hockey playoffs. The channel on the main TV kept being changed off the game. We requested it be changed back to the game (that all the patrons were watching) and we were told by the bartender that HE wanted to watch the basketball game. Our bill surpassed $100.00; for bad food and a punk bartender. Our waiter attempted to accommodate us and was very apologetic. Our complaints expressed to the manager have gone without response. Later we have learned this bartender is a friend of the manager. We have gone from frequent loyal costumers to not having returned with no intention of doing so. read more
