If I'm being frank when I first decided that I was going to attend massage school my intentions and…read moreexpectations were misguided. I thought "Oh, this will be easy and I'm just really using it as platform to get into Physical Therapy." I believed in the power of manual therapy, but I didn't truly think it was that technical or transformative. Throughout my time at Discovery Point that all changed. It was definitely not easy for me and I realized that massage school was in a lot of ways harder than when I was in University. The instructors at Discovery Point are truly marvelous and knowledgeable. Without their guidance I would not be the confident and humble therapist I am today. Time and again I find that my grasp of anatomy and my ability to truly feel tissue that I cultivated at Discovery Point has put me ahead of the pack. This school not only prepares you for the field, it shapes you. My life has transformed in many ways from this experience because of these beautiful mentors. My passion for learning has been reignited and I thank all the teachers/faciltators at Discovery point for all that they do.

The teachers are extremely knowledgeable of the many aspects that create the profession of massage therapy. It's not just a school, but a community, and I feel very fortunate to be a part of it. I was completely astonished at how ready I was to enter the workforce after graduating! After only a few months after graduation I realized I was already reaching business goals of mine that I had planned 8-10 years down the line! I'm literally living my dreams. In my opinion, this is THE school to go to if you're serious about a career in massage therapy. And I'm excited to see what other continuing education will be offered in the future! Thank you, Discoverypoint!

Massages are great but wow... it's a loud place…read more I just want to say the massages are great here. Without question. And the staff are wonderful. HOWEVER, this is one of the loudest massage facilities I've ever been to. I've been here 3 times now and the last 2 times the room I was in has a sliding door to what I assume is another massage room. This time, while I was getting a massage, I could clearly listen to the conversation going on in the other room and I don't believe those people were being overly loud. There is just NO soundproofing between their walls. In addition, I'm assuming there is a break room or something just around the corner and at one point I could hear a group of people laughing and talking loudly while they were on break or something. So just know that if you like to have a quiet environment while getting your massage, this may not be the place for you.

The student working on me was professional and polite. The instructor rounded one time to check in, but it only helped the experience and didn't feel intrusive. They have a 3 for $75 deal- oh yeasss. And you can conveniently make appointments online.

After undergoing abdominal liposuction a few days before my massage, I came in for a pre-scheduled…read morelymphatic drainage massage. I had minimal swelling and bruising from my recent surgery. I was scheduled for 30 minutes. I was given no information about what to expect from the massage but had done some reading on my own. The massage therapist immediately began very aggressively manipulating my flesh and tissue, which was raw from the recent surgery. Although I have a high tolerance for pain, I was experiencing excruciating pain and was trying my best to breathe through the process, and I was told that it is painful to most. The massage therapist then informed me that a big lump of tissue had moved to one side of my abdomen but that we were out of time and that I would need to schedule another appointment. She recommended that I come back the next day, but they ended up not having anything until three days later. I was about to pass out from the pain. I went home and did my best to get the lump to go down with hot compress and massaging it myself, but I was three times more swollen than when I came in and the lump would not go away. The next morning I woke up completely black and blue and the lump was still there. I went to my doctor and was told that I was massaged entirely too aggressively. I went back to the doctor a week later and was told that scar tissue had probably been caused and may or may not go away. It has now been three weeks and I am still dealing with the swelling, bruising, lump and the scar tissue that was caused by the overly aggressive massage that I received. I've had other lymphatic drainage massages since then, and I now know that this person was poorly trained, and damaged me after I had just had surgery. I don't know what the credentials are of these professionals that are working at this place, but it seems that they do not know what they are doing!!!!

Mikaela customized my treatment for my shoulder injury and worked with me gradually as my pain decreased each week and my range of motion improved. She also gave me exercises to do at home between visits that were really helpful. I had never had a massage before, so I didn't know what to expect...she explained everything as she worked so I could understand why she was using each movement and always checked with me if what she was doing was hurting. She always finished each treatment with a scalp massage that was very relaxing. After four sessions my shoulder pain was completely gone and I have become a big fan of massage!
