Downside of the hospital is that it's almost impossible to get a good night's sleep. They wake you up at all hours to see how you are feeling, etc. After you get home they provide home health care and physical therapy to be sure you have a successful recovery. So far I'm extremely happy with the results.

Some people might think it's strange to find a doctor on Yelp, but I trust my Yelpers!! Before I went to see Dr. Klapach, I had been seeing doctors at FairView University for the better part of last year. I wish I had gone to see Dr. Klapach right away. I doubt she would have made me wait 8 months and jump through numerous hoops before telling me that surgery was inevitable. I can't ever get those eight months back, but thanks to Dr. Klapach, I am slowly getting back my range of motion, and I believe my pain is already less than it was before surgery, most of the time. I just had the surgery in December (which went great, by the way! They do it in an orthopedic facility, not a hospital, so my Covid fears were lessened), so it has only been a short time, and recovery for rotator cuff surgery is notoriously slow. But Dr. Klapach and her assistant Bradley are with you every step of the way, going above and beyond, to the point where the surgeon will actually pick up a phone and call you. Yes, I just about fell on the floor the first time that happened. Dr. Klapach really cares, and so do her staff. I am also really happy with the physical therapists on site. They do a great job, and are available by phone or email if you have questions about the exercises. Fact: "Expert" doesn't begin to describe Dr. Aimee Klapach, MD. She does 270 knee surgeries a year, a fact I kept repeating to myself when I was having anxiety spin-outs in the weeks before my ACL reconstruction surgery. That depth of experience matters when you're literally trusting someone with your limbs. Fact: She's a super conservative surgeon, bless her heart. She never tells me what I want to hear. She tells me what I need to hear. I don't want a risk-taking, skydiving bro giving me health advice. I want someone who's gonna tell me that "If it were my sister, I wouldn't do it" when I ask if I can fly to a wedding a few weeks after surgery because there's a small chance I could get DVT and die. She obviously didn't love disappointing me. But she takes her job seriously enough to be a firm advocate for my healing and my body, and at the end of the day that's what I need. Fact: Her work is excellent. I'm 9 weeks out from surgery and my knee is healing beautifully. I followed her directions and the result is that nothing has gone wrong: no infections, no mistakes, no risks, no mishaps. Just steady improvements day after day, which is all I can really ask for. Fact: She has an incredible team working with her. They called me the evening after my surgery to check in- which at the time felt like an incredible kindness- and when I have questions they always call me back within a few hours. Her scheduler was wonderful, and made sure we had everything we needed to prepare for surgery. I've always found it easy to book appointments, and Dr. Klapach goes to a variety of locations, making it easy to find a time and place that works with my schedule. Even though my…read morehusband had some complications after surgery primarily due to the hospital's negligence, we are very pleased with Dr Vorlicky's work and his support team at TCO, especially Nate and Lauren. This review is not about the surgery or TCO, but instead about I-Health, who handles the billing for TCO. Out of 13 physical therapy visits, I-Health coded three visits for the wrong knee when submitting the bills to my husband's workers comp insurance. Of course the claims were denied, and even though I contacted I-Health numerous times and was told they would correct the error and resubmit the claims, I am still dealing with it over six months later. After the second denial by workers comp, again still submitted with the never corrected procedure code for the wrong knee, I-Health arbitrarily submitted the denied claims to my husband's Medicare insurance, and sent us a bill for the copays, of which we wouldn't have to pay anything related to his work comp injury if they would just code everything correctly. On top of that, they now randomly submit claims for subsequent visits to Medicare instead of workers comp. I have made no less than ten phone calls to I-Health over the last five months, including leaving two messages for the manager (Todd) to call me back (which he never did), and I'm now at my wits end. I am now writing letters to TCO's patients advocates, Minnesota's Attorney General's office, and leaving one star reviews on every social media platform that I can think of. What could have been a good experience for us and accolades for TCO, has now resulted in absolute frustration, wasted time on the phone and writing letters, and one star reviews for TCO since they chose to use such an incompetent company for their billing.

My knee is broken and I'm gonna have to get an MRI and that shit is expensive and me and the insurance companies are going to have a great romantic summer together. That's when I had the good sense to call my uncle, who's a physical therapist in Duluth. He recommended the PTs at this place, and said they were actually athletes and therefore in a perfect position to check out my bustedness to see if it could be cured without knives. I feel so, so lucky that these women were recommended to me, because they fixed my business. Laurie is/was my PT, and she's a rockstar. She did an evaluation of my knee, watched my gait, took videos of me running (awk- watching yourself run is akin to listening to your own voice on someone else's answering machine) and came to the conclusion that my knee was busted because I had a twisted pelvis. Guys, when your pelvis is twisted your legs/knees/feet don't work the way they should. Bones hammer on bones and after awhile you end up with exactly the kind of injury I had. She re-taught me how to walk. She taught my muscles in my core and my legs and my hips to actually work the right way- not the sloppy workaround they patched together because of my twisted hips, but in a way that supported my bones and structure. It made me a better, faster, smarter runner. Do you know how fast you can run when you're powered by your butt instead of your knees? REALLY FAST. And it's totally clear to me that if I had kept on going the way I was going, I was going to end up with a lot more serious injuries down the line in my old-age-i-ness. I won't lie: this shit took time. It was a couple of months of going there (Mendota Heights is a slog), and nightly exercises for months can be a drag. I also luckily have great insurance so I ended up paying almost nothing for this treatment, which I'm sure would be spendy otherwise. But it fixed my injury in a whole-body, preventative way, and I'm super grateful for it.

I emailed Dr. LaPrade on April 21, and he responded on April 23…read moresaying that he couldn't make a recommendation without examining both me and reviewing the studies. I asked him why he doesn't do MACI anymore, but he wouldn't say why. He emailed me back saying to email his administrator, Amanda Peña, to arrange for him to review my records. I emailed her about getting my records to him, asked what his reasoning is for not doing MACI anymore, and if he would recommend OCA for me. She did not answer any of my questions and just said that he would be happy to review my imaging and records, and that he can't offer a full recommendation without also doing a physical examination. I emailed Amanda on May 18 asking when would be the earliest appointment available, and again, asked what his reasoning is for not doing MACI anymore and if he does OCA. She did not respond. I tried emailing her, calling her, left voicemails, and submitted my questions/request for an appointment on Dr. LaPrade's website and on the TCOMN website. No one ever responded. I didn't know what else to do, so I contacted the records department on June 10. They responded to me on June 16 and said that someone would reach out to me. Christa Johnson, a Patient Advocate, told me that LaPrade wouldn't take on my case. I emailed her back and told her that Dr. LaPrade said he wouldn't make treatment recommendations without examining me and reviewing my reports. I asked her why that changed. I also told her that the last surgeon I saw was the only one out of everyone I've seen who recommended MACI/TTO, so it didn't make sense to continue treatment with him. Furthermore, I wanted to get care locally in MN, and Dr. LaPrade was recommended to me. Christa never responded to my questions or emailed me back. I tried emailing Dr. LaPrade again about getting an appointment ASAP. No one responded. Because of the lack of communication I received, I didn't know what else to do other than to drive to the clinic to schedule an appointment since no one was helping me. The following week I get a voicemail from Paula. She says that Dr. LaPrade is not going to take on my case. I call her back and ask why, but she won't explain. To sum it up, I am beyond frustrated and disappointed with the lack of communication and consideration of Dr. LaPrade and his team. They are disrespectful, neglectful, and it is completely inexcusable for them to treat me the way they did. I spent almost 2 months trying to get an appointment, and in the end, it was a huge waste of my time and energy. And it was a major letdown. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.

Much better giving you your four hours prior time for black coffee, clear beverages and a better nights rest before., They called early in route to say I can come earlier and thrilled. Parking in ramp and lot free but more crowded at 10:35am arrival. Parking very close to entry. Check in 3rd floor. Efficient. ID and insurance required, person who will be driving you home. Waiting room right there with monitor to tell driver what phase you are in the procedure. Dr Walsh my surgeon second time around and highly skilled, personable and thorough. Surgical team welcoming all know their jobs in a warm, friendly environment , beautiful rooms prepping to get you ready. Not the sterile hospital feel there or operating room. Kind care all the way through to 4:00pm discharge. No meds there must go to your pharmacy after. Post op care instructions and out patient only. It's top flight!
