This playground was amazing and one of the cleanest and most well maintained I've seen. It was enclosed, huge bonus, had a sandpit that was freshly raked or flattened, as well as a fake tidepool water table type feature. What an awesome playground!!! I brought my toddler here to burn some energy while we are visiting from out of town and she absolutely loved this place! The sand pit and swings were both a hit for her but she was particularly obsessed with the small pirate ship themed playground. She ran so many circles through that thing and it wore her down nicely what I loved most about this playground is that it is enclosed with fencing, so parents have some extra sense of security in mind. Courtney's Sandcastle is a parent's dream. It is a very expansive play area that is almost entirely wheelchair accessible and has a permanent shaded area covering tables. There are swings for all ages and sensory music toys that engaged both my 3 yr old daughter and 1 year old son. One of the things that I liked most as a parent of two young kids is that the area is entirely fenced off. The parking lot is shared with an aquatics facility and little league field but we had no issues at 9am finding a spot next to the park. Highly recommend this place to take the kids to even if it is 20 minutes away. The one suggestion id have is to have kid friendly toilets as the seat seems more suitable for an adult. read more

This is one of the best public playgrounds I have ever been too. The setting is great too in the San Clemente hills, and is part of a larger park with athletic fields. We met some friends here and it was a great mutual meeting spot since it is close to the freeway. There was plenty of parking and the park backs up to the aquatic center. There was something for all ages here, along with the fact that it has ramps so different abled children can access everything. There is a sand pit in the middle and plenty of shade. The bathrooms are also right there so you don't have to wander too far when the moment comes. There are also musical toys, binoculars, and a splash pad in the summer. read more

I took my kids here when they were toddlers and it's one, memorable park because it's the only one where it's huge, with many bridges to jump on despite several kids. Also, it's clean and peaceful being there to watch your kids. The pictures you take here come out beautiful as well. The perfect park for toddlers! Love that there is so much to explore here. When we first walked in my husband was so impressed that they were " playing"such calm music through out the whole park, come to find out it was kids banging on the chimes found throughout the zen garden. I say banging, but the sound is beautiful! Genius, my kids are still obsessed and we don't want to cover our ears. Everything is fenced off which we love because sometimes our play date friends like to run and it's nice to know they won't wander into dangerous territory. Overall an amazing experience. This park is an absolute dream! It's just a bummer it's all the way in San Clemente. I'd come every weekend if I could, or during the week to let my twins run around and blow off steam. My twins are special needs so when I heard about this park, I had to come try it out. It's fully enclosed. It has a sensory garden and a couple of musical percussion instruments. The play structure they love. There's 2, one for the smaller kiddos and a larger one for the bigger kiddos. There's a rock climbing structure. Bathrooms with huge changing tables. Special swings. I really hope there's a park just like this that can open up in North OC. It would make it a dream for we mommies of special needs kiddos and/or multiples. read more

Beautiful park! If you have multiples kids that are young, this is the playground to visit. Why!?! It's GATED!!! There's a nice pirate ship structure and a nice size castle that the older kids can climb on. There are swings for bigger kids and infants. The is a small sand area as well. As you head to the back of the playground there is a pretend touch tadpole area that has sea stars and other pretend animals. Be careful there are some sharp edges. Behind the pretend tadpole, there is a small musical garden the kids can play with. Charming sounds and relaxing to listen to. And go all the way to the top... there is this water marble ball kids can play with. Bring ur swimsuits because.... the San Clemente Aquatic Center is next door! ;) read more

There's a small and large play structure, garden, tide pool, 2 shades sitting/stroller areas, baby swings, normal swings, and accessible swings. Apparently people don't understand that this park was designed for kids with special needs, such as wheelchairs and walkers. This is why there are ramps and special swings for them. The musical area is a sensory area for these kids. There are areas that teach sign language and have special textures for these kids. The sand grabbers are designed at a height for kids in wheelchairs and walkers. Yet when we went today with our daughter, kids were sitting 2 on the special swings and adults were sitting in them. Children were not supervised vary well and one child walked up to our daughter in her walker and said she looked weird. While our daughter had fun, as she was able to enjoy what she can't at most parks, the local residents seem to take advantage and are not educated as to why this park is the way that it is. Please place up some signs around the facility so people can better understand what this park was designed for. read more

This is an amazing, magical place for kids of all ages! My nephew and his family with 3 kids under 6 met his parents and my 89 year old mom there for a picnic and playtime. I loved playing with all the kids. The park is like the Sea world play park, complete with themed play areas. The round sphere is fun and gardens are beautiful. Kids can play on the play structures or learn from the tide pool structure that has different kinds of animals to view (no water or living animals) - but an excellent representation. There is a sand box that is so much fun - kids spent hours in there. It's enclosed, secure. Has clean bathrooms and is run on DONATIONS! If you enjoy - be sure to donate if you are able. We drove from San Diego just to experience it! Well worth the drive (picnic and play). read more

We were at this park for the first time recently for a birthday party. The first thing that struck me which I liked was the entire park had a painted metal fence all the way around the playground. Very nice aspect if you have multiple kids that don't necessarily play together. The middle of the playground there were bench seating with tables in between. You can reserve this area for your birthday party and have some staff appointed to help with the party (i am sure an extra charge). There is a large play structure for smaller children and a really large one for older kids. There is a "sensory" area that I believe provide displays where a child can work on sight, smell, sound, etc. We did not spend any real time in this section so not sure of the quality. There is a small water display that kids were climbing into and playing so be careful if you don't want a wet child. You would have to be older to be able to get into but parents were certainly putting their small children into the water so I assume it's sanctioned. There is also a unisex bathroom inside the gates area which is convenient although it was not clean. There is a sign that states no dogs allowed unless service dogs. I did see people coming and going with dogs so did not get a sense there is any respect for that sign or enforcement. read more

This park is amazing! My granddaughter has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and was able to swing on the swings and access more fun things than she normally would at a traditional park. When she visited from out of town, I was proud that such a special park existed near where we live in San Clemente. I agree with a previous reviewer that educational signs depicting priority for children with special needs would be a helpful reminder for able-bodied children and their parents. It is something that is not forefront in minds of people not dealing with special needs on a daily basis. I'm looking forward to my granddaughter visiting soon and anticipate she will ask about this park the moment she arrives! read more
