Best experience I never knew I needed!…read more On July 18th, 2026, I went out on a boat with Captain Maria, First Mate Janelle, and Second Mate (photographer) Hannah. They were lovely, helpful, and gave good info. The boat was choppy, which I enjoyed, but I felt 100% safe the entire time. Of course, the main attraction was the dolphins (& sea lions); it was amazing. We must have seen at least 500 of them, jumping in and out, in Sync with the boat and each other. Earlier this year I completed one of the three items on my bucket list (yes, only three), which was to see the Aurora Borealis (In Lapland, Finland), and I have to be honest, today's experience topped that by far (also much less cold). To sum it up, thanks to Captain Maria, Janelle, and the lovely Hannah, I had the best experience I never knew I needed to experience! P.S. Item #2 was also completed earlier this year. P.P.S. Item #3 is still waiting (for 36 years now).

Located at the Dana Point Harbor, Capt Dave has dedicated parking lot. No bathrooms in the building…read morebut 2 bathrooms a skip away. They depart from the building towards the boat 15 mins beforehand so they want you to check in 30mins before (and on weekends/holidays, check in 45mins before). The boat departs on time at the scheduled time, so make sure you are here in the building 15-30mins before your booked time. We booked at 1pm and that's when the boat left the dock. We were gathered at the office at 12:45 to head towards the boat and unfortunately a couple missed their slot because they were not even in the parking lot at 1pm when the boat sailed. Don't make their mistake, just make sure you are parked at least 15mins before the booked time. They were willing to wait 5 mins, but not 30 mins, so timeliness from guests is important as we had almost 30 people on board. As you are led from the building to the boat, they have a pit stop at the bathroom as they warned that the boat's bathroom that can't take toilet paper and can easily clog. Unfortunately the ocean waters was unusually warm when we booked on 7/03 for whale/dolphin sighting so we didn't see any but they have a sighting guarantee so they gave us all a voucher to come back again for free. They gave out a delicious brownie at the end too, so I'm excited to come back for the brownie!

My boys absolutely love this camp -- the sailing, the teamwork, the fun -- it's all top notch. This year, we ran into an unexpected situation where one of my sons wasn't able to attend, even though we had signed up well in advance. Based on the camp's policy, Westwind could have easily told us there was nothing they could do -- but they did the opposite. They were quick to respond, incredibly understanding, and went out of their way to accommodate us. In a world where customer service can be hit-or-miss, their compassion and professionalism really stood out. Another lovely moment: during the "practice capsizing" day, my elderly parents came to watch. Without us asking, the amazing staff brought out chairs for them so they could sit and enjoy the event comfortably. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare and speaks volumes about the team behind this camp. We're so grateful for everything Westwind Sailing offers -- from the wonderful instruction to the truly kind and caring staff. Highly recommend this camp to anyone considering it!

Walk along the harbor, look at the boats, and spot birds and sea lions. You'll see them lounging on the dock or boats and hear them barking every night. Be sure to walk down to the bridge and cross over. There are nice, grass areas with benches, picnic tables, etc. It's a beautiful view. Enjoy the beauty! There is a ton of free parking, clean public bathrooms, and the beautiful coastline. Then add in the dining, shopping, whale watching tours, paddle boarding, canoeing, sailing, and wading at Baby Beach.... This is a wonderful place to visit.

We went on a family trip together for this Independence Day weekend. My dad suffered a stroke in…read moremid-December last year, and luckily he has recovered quite a bit since then. However, since he still can't travel too far, we decided to visit somewhere close by. So, we booked a hotel in Dana Point and had a wonderful two-night trip. On Saturday, July 4th, we all booked tickets for a whale/dolphin-watching cruise. When I booked the tickets, I asked how long the tour would be, and they said it would be two hours. The ticket prices were $78 for adults and $68 for seniors. At first, my brother accidentally bought all five tickets at the adult rate when three of them should have been seniors. I noticed this on the receipt, so I managed to get a refund for the price difference for the three senior tickets. We bought five tickets for the 12:00 PM cruise and were told to wait at Dock 6 starting from 11:45 AM, but the boat arrived a bit late. Once we got on board, the wind was blowing incredibly hard, and the waves were quite high, causing the boat to rock violently. After boarding, a friendly female crew member gave us a briefing at the front. She kindly advised everyone on board not to run, and said that if anyone felt seasick, it would be better to stay towards the back of the boat rather than the front. She also mentioned that if the motion sickness got too bad, they could provide peppermint or ginger candies, and added that there was a bar and snack counter inside the boat. Come to think of it, I once went sailing on a yacht with my friends a long time ago. For the first 30 minutes, I was clapping, taking photos, and having a great time, but then I got so severely seasick that I had a truly miserable time (the same thing happened to me on a cruise trip before). Still, when I rode a boat at Lake Arrowhead last year, I didn't experience any seasickness at all, so I thought I would be fine this time too--though looking back, that was probably because the lake was so calm. But during this cruise on July 4th, I ended up getting so incredibly seasick that I felt like I was dying. About 10 minutes before we docked, the seasickness got so severe that I even started dry-heaving, and it was just awful. I was dizzy, and my stomach kept churning. Even so, it was really wonderful to see so many dolphins during the cruise, and the crew members were all so kind. When I was struggling with severe seasickness, my brother went to inform the crew. A crew member came over and asked if I wanted a peppermint, ginger, or ginger ale candy. I asked for a peppermint candy, and they handed it to me, saying it was free. When I asked, "Does it work?" she assured me it would. I sucked on the candy while sitting at the back of the boat and fell asleep, but later on, the seasickness became so overwhelmingly intense that I ended up throwing up everything and had a horrible time. Anyone who gets easily seasick should definitely take this into consideration before going on a cruise. Still, seeing so many dolphins was a huge highlight.

It is also a favorite spot for people to walk their dogs as long as as they keep their dogs on leash and away from the beach. Personally I always enjoyed the Salt Creek Beach Park. It has a large green slope facing the ocean, less crowded and not as commercial as the tourist hot-spot Laguna Beach. I saw on the beach a pond that flows into the ocean. I couldn't help but wonder whether it is the namesake Salt Creek I never found before. Whether it is or isn't, I had a great time today.

There's four conservation parks which makes the nearly 64 acres of the headlands. Will take approximately about an hour to two hours of completion to walk the trails. You'll come across scenic overlooks, beach access, and the Nature Interpretive Center. Glad we came on a breezy day and not have the sun beaming on us. We took lots of pictures with ocean and beach background setting. Beware of rattlesnakes and mice as signs are posted up along the trails, but we didn't encounter them. If you are in Dana Point, put this on your list of sights to see.

Just keep in mind it ends in a different gate area and it's a longer walk back if you don't reverse and go back to where you started. The gate does close at sunset, so don't get stuck in there!!

First of all "CC" and "Joseph G" who seem to very blatantly be the same ignorant, fowl-mouthed idiot, didn't think that maybe, just maybe (like with any other rental), would most likely require a deposit. If the owner just allowed people to take watercraft that are probably worth TEN GRAND each on word alone, Im pretty sure they would be quickly and surely out of business. Ive rented wakeboards, snowboard set-ups and only from CAPO BEACH WATERCRAFT RENTALS I have taken out a top of the line sea-doo. ALL RENTALS REQUIRE DEPOSITS OR NO ONE WOULD TAKE CARE OF THEM! Sucks that you are an adult, yet you have zero common sense. Bill, the owner, is fair and always gives the correct and needed information. No need to be so vulgar and unnecesarily rude because you weren't responsible or sensible enough to bring a credit card or the means to fund your whole thirty minutes of business you didn't give them. Anyway, this place is awesome and rates are extremely fair and competitive. Never had any problems, staff is informative and helpful. Equipment is clean and safe. Nothing bad to say here. So much fun and as long as you follow simple instruction, you will have a great time and be treated with respect. Lockers are available, and any questions I have had were answered promptly and correctly. I wouldnt suggest going to the other rental place the lady was really rude there,but Capo Beach Rental has great rates as low as 94 bucks mon-fri before 1130am... Check it out for yourself. My girlfriend and I decided to rent jet skis this last weekend because Orange County was blessed enough to get summer weather in March. So, we called numerous places and decided on Capo rentals because of the price and because Bronson(An employee there) was so friendly and kind while answering all my annoying questions(I had a lot of them). When we arrived, Bronson went through a lot of trouble to ensure my worried girlfriend that she would be ok and that shark attacks on jet skis are extremely unlikely (Feel my pain ). He then got us all set up and gave us some local insights to where we could see sea lions and other marine life. After our extremely fun time jetting around the ocean, we got back and Bronson was kind enough to take 648364 pictures of my girlfriend and I (Girls love pictures from all angles,poses, etc.). Right before leaving, he gave us some recommendations for restaurants and a coupon card for a discount on our next visit. It was an overall phenomenal experience and Bronson was a great help to ensuring our day was memorable and enjoyable. I would highly recommend checking this place out because they have all kinds of fun things to rent. read more

i highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to rent kayaks or jet skis... prices are right on, parking is free and they are extremely helpful and can answer almost any questions u might have relating to the area... (they've been around for a while) the business runs like a well-oiled machine and like i said- the prices are just right and i love NOT getting ripped off while doing 'touristy' things in SOCAL... (since its usually so expensive) these guys really seem like they want everyone to have a great time and they genuinely care about you and how you feel or if its your first time doing the activity- they take the time to explain everything or show u how everything works- which i really appreciated since i was there with my daughter and was worried she wouldn't know what to do. We are not from this area but a few years ago I took my son out jet skiing here and we loved this place. We rented kayaks at Capo beach jet ski rental. The guys working there were great! So helpful! Great move to come here! She loved it! Loved the location! The equipment was great! I just want to say the price was right and it's a good workout and good therapy! I had the same issue with Capo Beach rentals. I was never told on the phone to bring in a credit card. Bill was a nice man, but it was never told to me on the phone to bring in a credit card. I have never rented a watercraft here in the states , so I am new to this. Regardless, it should be something that is told to you on the phone ahead of time while making reservations. Looks like SKYY (the owners son no doubt) who responding to others by name calling, puts him in the same "boat"...no pun intended. His 1 other review for a detox center he attended also was a negative rant on someone else that wrote an unfavorable review. Facts remain the same.....customers should be informed in advanced. read more

The owner Bill is a HUGE tool! So rude and arrogant. Called to make reservations on the phone for 2 sea-doo rentals a week in advance for a Monday morning. (I have been here multiple times before mind you). Drove over an hour and brought my cash for the hour 1/2 rental for a friend and I. Asked Bill if I needed anything else for the transaction on the phone and he said NO. I get there and then he asks for a credit card and a deposit for $1000 required. WTF! He never mentioned it to me on the phone and he rudely said " you should have gone to our website to find out". Really? Ruined our day and this guy should be out of business. read more

What a terrific family business! Bil and his son Bronson where just wonderful to deal with. My family of 4 had a great time this past weekend renting jet skis and tandem kayaks for the day. Very friendly and helpful staff. The kayak rental rates are good, even better with the free parking at this great location. The kayaks are on the dock just feet from the water. It takes about an hour to paddle around the harbor and at anything but high tide, about half way around, there is beach only accessible by boat which is a great hang out and place to stretch your legs. read more

I rented kayaks through these guys multiple times and every time the process has been easy. They had plenty of equipment on hand and the prices are very reasonable. Great family owned business and very polite people. They have nearly brand new wave runners and the reasonable prices made me feel i got the best bang for my buck around. Mark our captain was very knowledgable and was great to have take us out. Knew all of the areas to see along the coastline to Laguna. We saw 2 grey whales, and a breaching whale. It was unreal. We also saw tons of dolphins and other sea life. Well worth the money for a private trip. Next time when we don't bring the ladies we'll have to go fishing. They have several great boats/yachts to choose from which was nice to have options. We had a great time. Thanks again!
