Employees braved the drive! Shunda at the bar was the best, balancing regular clientele, big hunting dudes from the hunting convention, AmericasMart drama visitors, etc., and she did just Fine! Tip her! I normally don't do bar hummus... but wtf! They bake to a crisp the flatbread... then they put this terrible butter on top which is Fabulous! The Bistro burger seems to be coming out a lot, and she makes the BEST Old Fashions! Love the compact warm rooms. Laundry is available for long termers. Historic building, yet comfy. I booked this hotel primarily because of its central location, which is really its main advantage. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was fairly average and left much to be desired. The room was below my expectations. It felt dated and lacked many of the amenities I would expect from a hotel in this category. Housekeeping was adequate but nothing exceptional, and the room was missing basic toiletries that are typically provided. As a loyalty member, I was also disappointed that my status was not acknowledged in any way, not even with a complimentary bottle of water. It's a small gesture, but one that makes loyal guests feel appreciated. The hotel advertises having a Starbucks, but it's a licensed location where you cannot redeem Starbucks Rewards points or use many of the benefits available at corporate stores. There is also no real full-service restaurant on the property, which further limits dining options. Another downside was the surrounding area. There were a significant number of homeless individuals around the building, which made me feel uncomfortable, especially when coming and going after dark. Overall, while the location is convenient, the hotel does not offer much beyond that. Unless you absolutely need to stay in this specific area, I would recommend looking at other options before booking. read more

The hotel was fine (except that the USB sockets were broken. The Bistro restaurant was an embarrassment to food preparation. Breakfast starts at 7:00. By 7:01, the line stretched to the elevators. Breakfast is "included," but you have no chance to get it if your Uber is scheduled. The dinner service was worse. After 45 minutes, that server reports "there's a problem in the kitchen...". The problem was that the pilot light on the oven was out. Again, our Uber was scheduled and we had plenty of time...until the food didn't come. As a Bonvoy member, I expect better. read more

Profiling Update : I am writing this follow-up because the situation with this property has unfortunately gone from bad to worse. After escalating my concerns to Marriott Corporate customer service, I was absolutely appalled to learn that Ms.Brown at this Courtyard outright lied to about the situation - Ms.Brown claimed that I was cursing at the front desk during check-in -This is completely false and there were people around. I strongly encourage them to pull the lobby security and audio footage, as it will clearly prove that their account of the interaction is a complete fabrication. To make matters worse, I sent an email directly to the General Manager and called the Assistant GM, Justin, to address my experience. Neither of them has had the professional courtesy to respond. As a Platinum Elite member, I am deeply disappointed. Resorting to false accusations to cover up poor service, combined with leadership completely ignoring guest communications, is completely unacceptable behavior. read more

Room was stunning, the bathroom .. huge and modern! The showers i took were amazing, water pressure just right. And the bedding was extremely comfortable. There were several things we wanted to do and see in the downtown area, so I tried to pick a central spot. I'm not fond of driving in heavy traffic in unfamiliar big cities. I walk as much as possible. This hotel and location was ideal. Hotels.com offered me a pay as I booked deal for a discount. We came during rush hour, and while other were arriving too. The street is rather tight as we got out of the Uber with several pieces of luggage. Valet grabbed a cart for us. I was surprised at how small the front desk was for this chain and size of hotel. It didn't take long to get all checked in and head to the room. Double queen had just enough room. I like that hotels are starting to put in LVP or engineered flooring instead of carpet. It feels cleaner. A small frig was in the room. Lamps and clock radio had outlets for recharging electronics. The bathroom was almost as big as the room. One entire end was a massive shower - it was a handicap accessible room. Plenty of towels. Double windows and a side street kept the room pretty quiet. Elevators are secured, you have to use your room key to access floors. The one funny con was how squeaky one of the beds was. Staff was great. Easy walking to many great sites, restaurants and drinks holes. read more

I spent the past weekend here for a friends wedding and I absolutely do *NOT* recommend this hotel to anyone traveling on business or leisure. The hotel room does not come equipped with basic things such as soap, lotion, or even a blanket. Room 501 had 2 thin sheets on it. I tried to physically walk down to the lobby to ask for a blanket where the front desk associate said they would bring one up in 10 minutes. After about 40 minutes I went down again and could not find anyone. This is terrible and not outside of a normal stay. When I choose to travel, having basic necessities is a huge aspect to me when choosing where to stay. It is safe to say I will never use this hotel again. read more

In short, the food I ordered at the hotel restaurant (the bistro) took a full hour to arrive, the server/manager offered to void our bill, but never did so. Mistakes happen, but being repeatedly misled (see, below) is not OK. After about 30 minutes, I approached the gentleman who took our order, who told me there was a miscommunication (order was never placed?) and it would be right out. Another 10-15 minutes passed, and he said the food "was literally being placed on the plates." Again, another 10-15 minutes passed, and apologized again, brought me a coffee, said it would be right out - again - and then finally came in another 10 minutes or so with our food. In that time, other patrons who had ordered after us received and ate their food and departed - all before we received our food. He apologized profusely and volunteered to void the entire bill off our credit card. I accepted his offer and we departed. But to date the charge has not been voided. read more

I reserved a room through a Marriott representative for my sister and niece. They drove 2 hours, on arrival at 12:45 am, they were turned away because she was not me and didn't have my physical card on her person. I specifically asked the rep when I reserved the room if this would be an issue and she assured me that it was fine and that the card would be on file. She said as long as the reservation was in my sister's name that she would be great. The person at the desk however said that I physically had to be present for my sister to stay although she had a driver's license, my card number was on file, with a note stating it was being paid for by her sister and the reservation confirmation number for the room. The lady could have confirmed the information with me to prove who I was of it was a question of fraud concern. Sheesh. You would think that Marriott wouldn't want to lose $752 due to a rude desk clerk. I am livid. Never again will I reserve for Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Atlanta for myself or anybody else. read more

Left my husband and daughter without a room....After 20 years of being a Marriott member I have never been as disappointed in any hotel as I am with this one. My husband and daughter drove from Memphis to Atlanta for my daughter to play in a volleyball tournament. We have two daughters that play so often we are at different hotels in different cities. They arrived late and my husband did not have the card the reservation was made on, I had it in another city. They stated we would have needed to notify them 24-48 hours in advance of the stay that the card holder would not be present, even though his name was clearly listed as an occupant of the room on the reservation. They would not let him use the reservation we had. He had to pay for a single night and they are not guaranteeing a room for the next two nights. The Marriott rewards emergency help line stated since the reservations were made through the tournament travel agency, in November of 2022, there was nothing they could do. It was at the discretion of the hotel staff. read more

This hotel is just OK. There is not much of a lobby. Cafe is hardly ever open. Th one good thing is the kind service. However the thing that bothered me most was the lack of cleanliness. Neither my room nor the lobby sitting area were clean. My room was very dusty, I found a stray hair on the towels, and even coffee stains on the night stand. As for the lobby, I sat in there once to take a work phone call and there were chips all over the floor. There are many other hotels in the area, I wouldn't recommend this one. read more

Overall the hotel is well maintained, and rooms are renovated, clean and functional. However, I had a major issue with bedbugs in my room. I was not surprised because the hotel is in downtown Atlanta, where there are homeless people lying on every corner. On my second night, I woke up very early because my body was itching. I turned on the lights and found bedbugs and bloodstains on sheets - see the photos. The bites were clearly visible on the body. One photo is the morning when it happened, the second photo is the next day. I was very disappointed with the way the hotel staff handled this problem. I was offered a new room, but later that day the hotel manager told me that they inspected my room and did not detect any signs of bedbugs, I showed the photos but the reaction was as if they did not believe me.  I had the bedbug problem only once in the past with another popular hotel chain. Back then I received a room upgrade for the rest of my stay and a free night voucher for my future stays.  Here at Courtyard, they tried to downplay it and I felt that I was treated as if I was lying. I missed my morning meeting because I had to pack everything and move to another room. This is unacceptable for the hotel that charged me $180+ per night. Another issue I had was with the breakfast charges. My rate included free breakfast but I was charged the full price.  I had to escalate this with the management and request to remove the charges, minor annoyance but still unpleasant. I really enjoyed my limited time here. The rooms were fresh, clean and very updated. Marriott is my primary hotel for all of my travel. I have never been to a Marriott that has hardwood (fake) floors-most have carpet. I loved the fact that they were non carpet, it felt cleaner. You are greeted every time you enter/leave the hotel. They have a bistro with Starbucks drinks which is par for the course for Courtyard Marriott's. This hotel is based on the Carnegie Library so books are throughout and the rooms have rugs that have letters/words on them. My HVAC worked well-it actually kept my room cool. There was a mini fridge and my shower was big enough that I could do my yoga poses (I do bikram/hot yoga when I am home in KC). It is an easy walk to anything in DT ATL and it's kind of off the beaten path so you don't hear all the noise. They do valet parking and have a parking garage, I am unsure the cost since we didn't rent a vehicle this trip. Wi-fi worked perfect! Most of the hotels I stay in the wi-fi is shotty and works intermittently. Had ZERO issues here. I would recommend this hotel and would stay again. read more

What a pleasant surprise. You really can't judge a book by it's cover. When we pulled up the street and saw the building, I was a bit turned off. It was a light brown unappealing brick building. Once we got inside the hotel was actually very nice. The receptionists were all very friendly and accommodating. We arrived early in the morning around 8am and we were able to get a room. At check-in we were asked if we had any preferences on rooms, we requested something higher up and got placed on the 12th floor. The room was very spacious and moderately contemporary. The bed was very comfy and we had a nice view of the ferris wheel from the window laying on the bed. The highlight of the room was definitely the bathroom. Again, very spacious and the shower is separated by only glass. If you are looking for a place to stay downtown ATL, keep this place in mind. They have some very reasonable promotions that may be available. We had the Aquarium package that included two tickets, breakfast, and free valet (don't forget to tip the valet folks). The free breakfast really did pay off. Our stay was only for one night but they allowed us to grab breakfast the morning we arrived and the next morning. Between the two of us the breakfast was at least $20 each morning, so it really is a nice savings. The location is fantastic as all, you are only about a ten minute walk away from Centennial Park. read more

Good afternoon, I would advise anyone , in a decent mood please do not visit this hotel!!! Mr. " Nathan" spelt with an " N" he ( The Manager) rudely informed me. I have been in Hilton rewards member for years and now I see why. The unprofessionalism of Mr. Nathan were horrific to say the least. I would've rather checked in with the hotel front desk clerk who was extremely professional and nice. I was in town planning a wedding event with a client/ close friend. I would advise Mr. Nathan with an "N", look into some professionalism classes or Leadership classes. I would rather sleep in my car if there not other hotels available. If you are a frequent Marriott traveler avoid this hotel. Unlike many other Marriott properties the staff here will not do the right thing for their customers. After a long day of meetings and travel all I wanted was a little food and a drink. The kitchen and bar were closing when I arrived. When I asked if there was any way to get something to eat or to get a glass of wine I was told no but that I could order food. I had no problem getting something delivered but asked if I could get a glass of wine since the bartender was still in the bar closing up. The answer was a flat out no. It's a shame that customer service is not important to this location. As someone who comes to Atlanta often I will DEFINITELY avoid staying here again. PS. The operations manager did his best to salvage the situation, but after I had placed five unsuccessful phone calls for over two days pleading with employees for assistance, it was too late to deliver results. We selected this hotel online because we were coming in town for a concert at Philips Arena and this hotel was within walking distance, and cheap! When we booked it was $119 per night, and we were on a budget. Our theory is, you sleep and get ready in a hotel room, it doesn't have to be over the top. However, we were blown away by the gem we found at Courtyard! We arrived at 11am and were allowed to go ahead and check in! This was so nice to refresh after traveling. We opted not to valet park, and parked in the deck adjacent to the hotel. For one night it was $32, so be prepared to either pay for valet or pay for the deck. The staff was extremely friendly and could answer most questions about that part of town, and some of the staff we spoke to were locals and could tell us more about certain places, not just the "recommended". This hotel is centrally located to several major attractions! CNN Headquarters, Philips Arena, Centennial Olympic Park, and World of Coke. We ate around the corner at Juke Joint for lunch, and it was amazing; traditional southern fare. For dinner we ate at Truva, which is a Turkish restaurant. Wow!! It was out of this world. Both of these restaurants are walking distance from the hotel. Also, the subway entrance (MARTA) is beside the hotel. This proved very convenient for us after the concert! Finally, the hotel is located in a remodeled building, which gives it a great ambiance!Our room had high ceilings, was very clean, quiet, and accommodating. The single king room had plenty of space for two people! The bed was very comfortable, and everything about the room made us feel relaxed. The shower is large and so is the bathroom. There are three mirrors! For me, this is a plus. Usually we are getting ready in a hurried mess because most hotels only have one mirror. The view wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad either. We requested an upper level room so we could be above the buildings, and they gave is exactly what we asked for! We were in the 11 floor, almost in the corner. I read reviews before booking, and heard the corner room was more spacious. While the maid was cleaning the room, I asked to see it, and it was not much bigger than ours. Overall, this will be our hotel of choice when visiting Atlanta. Hands down. There are plenty of other hotels nearby for twice the price as this one, and Courtyard has everything they have and more. You will not be disappointed if you stay here, and you'll have extra money to experience the city! read more

Rooms are modern, clean and quiet, but very small (or at least my room was: Room 606). Bathroom was spacious, on the other hand. Friendly and helpful staff. Bed was moderately comfortable (foam-topped mattress). Many people staying downtown, if not most, are there for business. There was no desk. There was a console table with a large screen TV on it, with a chair you could sit at in front of the TV. I wish the TV had been bolted to the wall so I had enough room to work at the console table, which was decidedly not a desk. Otherwise happy with my stay. read more

First impressions go a long way and being a platinum premier on Marriott I can say that this was one of the worst Marriott properties in terms of hygiene that I checked in to. There were strands of hair on the bed... You have to be blind to not see them. The floors were dirty... They were black tile but I walked barefeet and the next thing I felt was dirt and my soles were marked with dirt. I called guest services and they offered to change my room but I didn't want to move at 5.20 am after a red eye. So I said they better clean it up in the day. The next thing I hit was the restroom and God it was dirty with hair strands strewn across the floor. There were small strands in the standing shower too. Being a Marriott loyal it makes me wonder if any other Marriott or SPG property in downtown is worth staying at besides the Marquis. Courtyards are anyway really low grade Marriott chains with no breakfast or any perks for platinum members but this hotel has a new trend in which there is no hygiene as well. read more

Good: Location downtown close but not too close to Dragoncon action. Right next door to Marta station so in and out to airport a breeze. Nice little charging hub for phones etc. Staff was pretty nice too. Bad: Weird room. Just a armoire and no drawers to put your clothes in. One night stand with a drawer on one side of bed nothing on the other. A mattress that had some kind of framing/wire around the edges that would dig right into your knee if you climbed into bed and hit it. Telephone in room did not work. And that bathroom???? Sliding barn door that didn't lock and while it did close somewhat it left an almost 2 inch gap so there was no privacy and if you happened to have someone sitting on that side of the bed they could see you sitting on the throne. Fix that!!! Worse: Had to give a one nights stay deposit in order to secure rate for Dragoncon. That was done at time of reservation MONTHS ago. When I check out guess what? They charged me for that one night and are currently claiming they cannot "find" that deposit. I found it online, my back found it, what's your problem Courtyard? I have filed a dispute. Went to this hotel after a bad experience at another one in the area. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. We weren't told that housekeeping wasn't coming. So we had to ask for supplies (towels everyday, and toilet paper). We were in walking distance to restaurants, which was awesome (since we had to pay for parking, the hotel charged $35 for parking but we can leave and come back at our discretion, and it was across the street from the hotel). There was no breakfast served. But overall the room was beautiful, and the bed was so comfortable (even the pillows)! read more

The front desk Cody/Codie/Codi, was rude and when my business travel was not correct she wouldn't provide me any proof that the charge was taken off my personal card. It was extremely unprofessional to be speaking with someone with an airpod in her ear. Housekeeping didn't come to my room the second day even though I did not put the tab on the door to excuse housekeeping. When I called the front desk at 5pm, they sent up someone in a t-shirt and jeans, how was I even supposed to know that person worked there? This place is actually a joke of a hotel. I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott May 25 - May 27 and let me say this has been one of the greatest experiences I have had with a hotel. Brandi, Courtney, and the rest of the hotel staff courteous and I was always greeted with a smile. The hotel was very clean and I was overall impressed. I would definitely stay at this hotel again! Let me also say, the staff of 717 Valet Service were very courteous and made sure I was well taken care of and they always answered any question I had about the area, and they never steered me wrong.
