Great location! Nice hot tub with big porch that overlooks the water. Warm fire pit available for cooler nights. Clean quiet rooms with comfortable beds and pillows.

First time in Charleston or South Carolina. Came here on a business trip with a group of colleagues and we all started in different hotels Don't ask why... we just did... and I think Ingot the BEST of the lot. The staff was hospitable from the get go! From check in to turn down service to checkout. There is a great view of the river, with tons of boats moored/parked just out side the back courtyard. There is a decent pool, weight room (I should have used it more with all this delicious food this town offers), a bistro cafe and a bar. My room was comfortable. The king bed was very comfy. The view I had was great overlooking the pool and the water. I'd recommend this place for any occasion from vacationing to business.... Close to the Historic Downtown district and the Market. You do have to pay nightly for the parking garage (which came out to $8 a night), or you can park in one of two of their outdoor lots. Whether pleasure or business, as always... Enjoy and Happy Sight Seeing!

This is an older Marriott that needs a little TLC. The views are spectacular, the lobby and bar area are updated and really fun. The outside area is beautiful. The thing with an older Marriott you may hear your neighbors and it might not be as shiny as new ones, but the locations are almost always a win. And the beds are good and you NEVER have to worry about hot water or water pressure. Spring for the room with a water view. Maybe not the balcony, bc it isn't big enough to sit on, but nice to open the door and watch the sunset. The lobby is a great place to work if you need to get out of the room for a bit or if late check out it not an option. The staff is super friendly and the coffee down stairs is very good.

Went there on a spare of the moment. Room was clean, we slept well. Rooms are small, stayed in room 423. No Continental breakfast. Security was lacking. We can go from the parking lot to our room without a key.

Great location but needs A LOT of work. The whole place smells like a dirty washcloth. This is likely in part due to being right on the water and the humidity. But there are ways to mitigate that (e.g., types of flooring, cleaning carpets more often, etc). Everything that had been done was so poorly executed it's insane. It looks like there are problem dozens of layers of paint. Paint is splattered everywhere (e.g., shower wall, floor, tub, handrails, etc). And things are just halfway completed. I'll be finding a different Marriott property when I'm there for work.

Room 340 Average hotel. The room was clean and tidy The card reader on the door worked once on entry. Each day we returned the card did not work. No big deal we just trotted downstairs and a new card was given. We did not complain as we knew something was wrong with the door and would be fixed. To compensate we were given vouchers for breakfast. Totally unexpected The best part of the stay are the shuttle drivers. Eddie and Scott are excellent ambassadors for the hotel. They were both informative and gave great tips on events, happenings, history and restaurants

It's Marriott, so it has the typical Marriott look and feel - with a comfy off-lobby lounge area -,with a view. It's on the water, so there are some nice views. Request a water view when booking your reservation. It''s adjacent to the hospital district, but waking to the hospitals looked like it would not be optimal because of the layout of the roads. It's just a 10 minute drive to historic downtown Charleston and some of the best restaurants anywhere. I didn't see any restaurants in walking distance, so everything will be a drive. Again, it's Marriott, so it has the typical Marriott look and feel. Other data points: -Good parking with some covered -Lobby on the second floor -Coffee, drinks, and minimal food options -Covid sensitive

They dumped clean towels outside our bedroom door while we were away.

OMG... The laziest staff of people of any Marriott I've ever experienced . They don't answer the phone... They don't service the rooms... The only people worth a damn are the shuttle drivers... I can't believe this is really a Marriott BonVoy associated establishment.

Given the length of our stay we upgraded to the King Junior Suite and found it to be a delightful room. The INN being central to the City Market and offers quick access to shops, restaurants and historic churches. We were able to use it as a base for walking to dinner each night 5 to minutes to the cities top restaurants, and exploring the city center. When our car was needed IAAM museum or plantation visit etc it was an easy ingress and egress location. Breakfast can be brought to your room or an expanded version is available in the lobby or a cute patio adjacent. We alternated to keep things fresh. Room was very clean and surprisingly very quiet for a central city. location. Staff pleasant engaging and helpful when needed. Turn down service at night. The hotel is fastidious about minor details all which lead to a wonderful stay. A Delightful Stay!

I read a lot of reviews and came across this hotel because of its location and other folks reviews. I would absolutely book this hotel again and I will be coming back to Charleston. The people made our experience here in Charleston fabulous and we greatly appreciate it. Thanks to Hannah, at the front desk for all her recommendations to eat everything was spectacular. Thanks to Bob the bartender that made one of the best espresso martinis we've ever had and lastly, thanks to the manager Carlo for coming over and introducing himself. Everyone is so nice and we def received the southern hospitality!

The nice amenities, decent gym and friendly staff are what creates the environment for a pleasant experience. Two of these were met and the friendly staff, was mostly there. . .but one sour apple truly changed the course of our stay. Even my wife, who worked once upon a time in hospitality at Kiawah Resort, was started by the interactions from The Loutrel Hotel staff member. Long story short. The daily complimentary breakfast was served. I accidentally went to place the granola lid on the yogurt, my wife told me that was the wrong lid and I went to correct. From across the room the breakfast attendant yelled, "sir that doesn't go there." Startled, I immediately removed it and placed it accordingly. I laughed it off. Moments later I went to sit my breakfast down where my drink was located. Same attendant, "you're not even sitting at the right table with your wife." Again, my error, but don't call me out twice in one morning. It's a small lobby, so many staff members overheard the interaction. Nothing was done by other management. The next morning, I walked down to look at breakfast. I saw the same attendant and said, good morning. She looked at me but wasn't pleasant in her response. Unlike the rest of her colleagues at the restaurant who are polite and kind, the same customer service I expect and provide to my customers. Breakfast offered salmon with some type of eggs or shellfish. I can't eat shellfish, allergic. So, I went to grab a biscuit at a local coffee shop and a coffee. We came back to the hotel and sat our food down. The same rude attendant came over, nudged my wife in her back and said, "you can't have this here, cross contamination." So, I left. Allowed my wife to eat her yogurt in the area. Funny enough, my wife asked where the utensils were, because every table had them. Same attendant rudely, pointed to another table for her to get them. I should have just sat down and ate my food as I didn't see any signs for "no outside food." Either way, stay somewhere else. It's unfortunate that a hotel like this allows such rudeness from a staff member. I did report this to the manager, and online but was met with more passivity. Comped two nights of valet. Honestly, it wasn't enough. I would never stay here again and it ended the trip on such a sour note.

Upon walking in I kind of gave my husband a look like what is this place. Honestly it was like walking into someone's home with a reception desk and a bar of that makes sense... LOL! I had no idea what to expect of the rooms. Honestly, we booked this place last minute so I briefly reviewed the pictures and reviews but was just ready to get away. BUT when we got to the room, after self parking at the public garage behind the hotel, we opened the door to the cutest little room. It was sized as if it was in New York City but had cute boho chic charm. It's perfectly located in the middle of everything and the walkability was what we enjoyed most. We walked to all of the best restaurants and shops once we parked, we only left the a garage once the entire time there. We loved the daily breakfast and were intentional about making it downstairs for it. The grits were absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked and once topped with the shredded cheese and fresh cracked pepper, I couldn't get enough! The pastries and biscuits were also very good. The biscuits and pastries tasted like someone's grandma made them. I know this review is long, so I'll stop now even though I could say so much more. We'll definitely return because I failed to try their espresso martini and they boast to have the best. Note: There's a valet option but the self parking seemed easier.
