This was my second stay at Emeline and I'm happy to report it's getting bumped up from four stars to five! The biggest difference this time around was staying with two friends instead of solo and for two nights instead of one. We booked a larger room with two queen beds and a fold-out couch which gave us plenty of space to spread out. The bathroom was also a nice size, making it pretty easy for three people to get ready without being too cramped. Oh, and the robes! So relaxing. One of my favorite things about Emeline continues to be the common spaces. The lobby is gorgeous, the outdoor terrace is a wonderful place to relax especially in the evenings, and I still love having Clerks Coffee Co. and Frannie & The Fox right on the property. This visit, we also took advantage of the complimentary bicycles, which were easy to reserve and a fun way to explore Charleston early in the morning. We also used the free drink coupon at a sister hotel/bar. The staff was friendly throughout our stay and everything was and welcoming. My only minor complaint was that the elevator seemed a little... temperamental... at times, but nothing that significantly impacted our stay. The only thing I'd encourage future guests to be aware of is the parking fee. It's pretty standard for downtown Charleston, but definitely worth factoring into your budget ahead of time. Between the beautiful boutique atmosphere, unbeatable location, thoughtful amenities, and inviting common spaces, Emeline is a fantastic place to stay in Charleston. My stay at Emeline was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt thoughtful, refined, and beautifully welcoming. The property has a distinct sense of character, it feels elevated without being stiff, stylish without trying too hard, and genuinely warm in a way that makes you want to linger. What stood out most was the balance of design and hospitality. Every space felt curated, from the interiors to the overall experience of moving through the hotel. There is a softness and charm to Emeline that makes it feel memorable, not just visually, but emotionally. It is the kind of place that gives you a sense of ease the moment you walk in. The location is also a true advantage. There is the convenience of wonderful eateries all around, a market right across the street, and even the boat ferry within a beautiful walking distance. That made the stay feel not only elegant, but easy, connected, and enjoyable. We enjoyed such a lovely mix of nearby experiences during our stay. At Frannie and The Fox, we had a delicious pizza, sat in the courtyard, and enjoyed the simple pleasure of hearing conversations around us and watching families enjoy one another. We also ate at Kaminsky's, TBonz, and the pizzeria just down the street. There was so much more we could have done, but even with only a two-day stay, it still felt full, memorable, and eventful. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the kind of comfort that makes you sink in, exhale, and immediately feel at ease. It honestly felt like sleeping on a cloud, and I definitely understood the temptation to want the entire mattress to come home with me. The team was gracious, professional, and accommodating throughout my stay. That level of attentiveness always makes the difference, and it certainly did here. It felt as though care had been given not only to the design of the property, but also to the guest experience itself. Emeline offers the kind of stay that feels both intimate and polished, which is rare. It captures the spirit of Charleston beautifully while still feeling current, intentional, and distinct. Stayed at Emeline over the holidays-- unbeatable location right behind Charleston city market with beautifully adorned decor and convenient restaurant in hotel, with Clerk's coffee shop as well. Loved the welcome Cocktail as well. As for the quality and service of the room and our stay-- basics were not met. The room was very small, with a large bathroom- not so much an issue. However, with the dark walls, a light in the hallway and two lights over the bed, it was very dark in the room. Electric-- The only outlets are in the bathroom, under the TV and connected to cube alarm clocks. However, the one side of the bed did not work and the refrigerator did not work. The glass water bottles with refillable water station in hallway was great but the water bottles were left with dew from a non working refrigerator. Assuming this was an outlet problem, called front desk and she said maintenance would be by. We waited around and over two hours, we decided to venture out. You would think front desk would do a courtesy check if issue was resolved if you called or the person came. We returned to room, uncertain if anyone came and I plugged in my charger and it worked... for 5 seconds. at that point, just accepted the loss. Also, the thermostat was also strange and seemingly not easy to work, it was touch screen but not really turning on the Randomly on but not adjusting settings-- seems related to electrical. Shower-- nice shower/ bathroom.. Luke warm water. This wasn't it needs to run for a bit and warm up-- just Luke warm shower which is really the most unacceptable aspect of our stay. Lastly, the nespresso machine in the hallway is amazing! However- it was not working our 2 night stay. The refillable water station an fruit as well as tea - wonderful and gracious touch. The elevators took about 5 mins to get one and I loved the 2nd floor having an open balcony overlooking the entrance but with the restaurant right downstairs, and entrance to hotel, and our room first in hallway.. it was always very loud, echoing from below. Would I do another short stay at Emeline due to the location, yes-- however, there are definitely improvements that are the bare minimum of what you'd look for to justify the price point. read more

LOVED this hotel. The location was perfect for us to walk everywhere we needed to go in Charleston. We upgraded to have 2 king beds and the room was a perfect size with everything we needed. We also liked the tea/coffee bar on each floor, and the customer service was great. I will absolutely stay here next time I'm in Charleston! read more

We got in at Midnight due to our flight and the hotel staff was indifferent. Our room was a two stories room. The bottom floor is a living room with a pulled out couch and the up stairs has a king size bed and a decent size bathroom with a pocket door. Our room was facing the courtyard so when happy hours hit, it get loud real fast. The hotel also hosts events and wedding and unfortunately for us, there was a wedding on the weekend we stayed... It was really loud and we were trying to catch up some sleep but couldn't. The only saving grace was that the wedding party played a lot of good song so we didn't get tortured too badly until kara-okie kicked in with a bunch of drunken guest. That was the unfortunate moment when the real torture started and it finally ended at 10:30 pm that night. I love the old look of the hotel and their decors but it comes with the old building smell so it's a turn off for me. I like the hotel overall but customer service was lacking at the front counter as well as the restaurant. read more

The wife and I spent Memorial Day weekend at the Emeline celebrating a friend's Coast Guard retirement, and despite a few unexpected maintenance hurdles, the staff truly went above and beyond. We experienced an AC issue the first night and, the following night, a leaking fire sprinkler head over the bed. After notifying the front desk, Nicole S., Than H., Ramona, and Rachael were incredibly apologetic and took immediate action to make things right. Michael from Maintenance also worked diligently to resolve both issues as quickly as possible. Although we had to temporarily relocate rooms the second night, the team ensured we did not have to fully pack up and move all of our belongings, allowing us to stay focused on enjoying the celebration weekend with friends. The outstanding customer service, professionalism, and dedication from the staff truly saved our weekend. We also loved the hotel's location and atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back the next time we visit Charleston! read more

Three night stay for a work conference. I wasn't impressed overall. I love hotels and was excited to stay here. It was just okay. I would stay somewhere else next time. Pros: great walkable location, comfortable bed, cool outside area with fireplace for hanging out. Nice robes in rooms. Some snacks on arrival in room. Overall, clean. Cons: I was in the back tower. Rest of my team was in front. Asked to move to front and was told no. I booked multiple rooms and was put in the worst and most inconvenient room. I did hang out in the rooms in the front tower, and I wasn't really that much more impressed with them, but at least they were more convenient. Rooms in back further from front, pretty dark, woken up every morning and at night because doors slam even with gentle close. Snacks and toilet paper not restocked. I had to ask for more TP and towels. Lightweight bedding so asked for an extra blanket. Never got it and didn't want to have to ask again. Fire alarm at 4am evacuated entire hotel to lobby for an hour+ one night. We saw no one from hotel messaging what was happening or taking control of anything. Not great. Can't recommend but also isn't the worst place to stay, but I wouldn't come back with all the other options in the area. read more

There's a lot here to love: a welcome cocktail plus complimentary beer and wine in the afternoon, a super cute coffee bar in the lobby and a location not too far from King St. The room itself was huge! The soda and snacks in the room were also complimentary. Loved the design, the records, all very aesthetic. The only thing I didn't like was when I dropped something that rolled under that entry way large dresser and went to grab it, underneath trash from former guests, including pens, receipts and a condom wrapper. This feels like a very easy spot to reach and fairly lazy vacuuming, which given it's carpet is disappointing. I did see them mopping the elevators during our stay, but the trash under the dresser made me a bit weary on deep cleaning done in the suite itself. Otherwise, a super lovely stay. Friendly staff. Blood on my sheets, no reply from management, shabby, treated poorly. Review of Emeline When arriving, my room was not ready, and I was informed it would be available within an hour. I waited in the cafe, and after 1.5 hours when to ask for an update from a tremendously understaffed front desk and only then told room was available. No call, no message. This was just the beginning. After the first day in the room, I went to straighten the bed and discovered a significant amount of blood on the sheets, yet I was not bleeding and had no cuts or scrapes. The blood was already in/on the sheets! I found someone from housekeeping in the hallway and asked them to come to look at the sheets and change them. I waited for 3 minutes for them to come to room, and then went back and looked in the hallway and they were gone. I called the front desk and was placed on hold for 16 minutes. I called again and was placed again on hold for 12 minutes with no response and no callback. I decided to check out a day early, because the issue was not addressed, and I felt unsafe with a persistent biohazard in my room. The hotel refused to refund the money for the day I left early. Email to hotel management as well as numerous phone calls have gone unanswered. I will never return to this property and advise others to not do so. At first glance I was in awe of the aesthetic of this cute boutique hotel! The lobby is stunning, the check in with Summer was outstanding (free room upgrade because we were celebrating my birthday!) and welcome beverage. The valet here is wonderful, you text them when you want your car pulled around so when you go down it's waiting for you not you having to wait around! A wonderful system! Now, the functionality of this hotel is a different story. Everything looks immaculately clean at first glance but, after running the water, I stepped into our shower and immediately could smell mold spores and my face started itching and within seconds of stepping into the shower I developed a rash and hives all over my cheeks and neck (which 2 days later I am still dealing with the after effects). We called downstairs and they apologized and were able to accommodate another room "with a better view". That room still had the moldy/spores smell in the shower but my allergic reaction wasn't as bad to it as the initial exposure. Additionally, this new room (room 461)had a dirty living room table (pictured) and the shower didn't drain (would end up to your ankles by the time your shower was over so my husband and I would have to wait to take turns taking showers for the water to drain). Our first rooms (room 438) bedroom tv wasn't working either. They do have cute little stations on each floor with water, coffee, and fruit, but I saw several ants crawling around on the counter there. That seems to be the recurring theme at Emiline, so much good intention without backing it up with thoroughness/cleanliness/attention to detail. When we checked out and they asked how our stay was my husband answered honestly, that I am allergic to mold and had a reaction in their shower, and the second room wasn't much better. To this, they apologized again and comped our 2 nights of valet. The room change and valet comp were both very much appreciated, but considering we spent the morning of our only full day in Charleston dealing with an allergic reaction to mold infestation, it still seemed to kinda miss the mark in terms of customer service considering this is not by any means an inexpensive hotel stay. Additionally, we tried Frannie & The Fox for breakfast and dinner and also tried Clark's coffee shop. All were good but not particularly great. Servers were nice but not overly attentive. I wanted to love it here, and I did love the ambiance and aesthetic but I wouldn't stay here again. read more

Note we are still in the hotel now for our last night (of 3) -- sitting in complete darkness as the power has been out for the past couple hours. The front desk has no clue how to respond in a situation like this. What's most concerning is that an older gentleman came to ask about the power outage expressing that they need electricity to power their device that helps them breathe and the receptionist told the man that the power was coming back on very soon -- which it has not. What's also strange is that there's a generator that is powering the lobby and restaurant -- but not the rooms for some reason. We got one of the 2-floor rooms on the 1st floor facing the courtyard/restaurant. Did not know this was the case as we would have avoided this given how loud it is with the music etc; on our first night there was an event as well. I've had to put on earplugs every night to fall asleep. Housekeeping does the bare minimum. They only provide new towels and make the bed. They don't clean anything; we have come back to room each day with the same old mugs and glasses. Additionally, we have 2 young kids and they were supposed to turn the coach downstairs into a bed on our first night -- we explicitly told the front desk 2x before we left for dinner. 3 hours later the bed still wasn't made. I called housekeeping, concierge and the front desk multiple times but no one picks up. So I had to physically go to the front desk and ask. Overall -- not a good experience and would definitely not recommend. I would say the restaurant's food is very good -- but again service is lacking. read more

We stayed here for our 15th anniversary weekend. The hotel is nice, with some cool perks as part of the resort fee - welcome drinks, daily happy hour w free drinks, bicycles, discount on carriage tour, and can reserve chairs on folly beach. We stayed in a king suite with a living room which works well for us as we usually wake up at different times, plus it's nice to have a spot to sit and read or watch tv instead of just the bed. Frannie and the Fox was great for brunch. The hotel also has apples and bananas, plus espresso machines on each floor and water. I used the gym to stretch daily - not a lot in there, but they offer passes to a few other spots. If we stayed longer I def would have tried one of the other gyms. Good place and I would come back. read more

I'd give this review 0 stars if I could. I've stayed at the Emeline hotel on countless trips and over the last two years, the quality and service has meaningfully declined. I've always justified coming back based on location alone. On my most recent trip, I arrived to the hotel at 11:45PM to check in & had the worst "check in" experience. The front desk manager cut me off several times when responding to questions and then proceeded to tell me I had cancelled my reservation; when I indicated it shouldn't have been and that I could provide the booking confirmation, she responded "I don't need that, I see YOUR cancellation confirmation". It turns out THEY oversold the hotel and moved me to the sister hotel down the road (to which when she realized her mistake, there was no apology or acknowledgment on her end of wrong doing) The desk agent offered no additional color and was very short/rude when I asked questions on why I wasn't notified about the change. I then had to wait to valet to come back from parking my car, only to go get it for me to travel to the other hotel. I've never felt so disrespected by a hotel staff and will not be recommending or coming back to the hotel. read more

Emeline Hotel was recommended by a dear friend that lives in Charlestown. The front desk staff were informative and welcoming. We were impressed with the lobby ambiance and enjoyed the bar atmosphere. The location was centrally located. We arrived in our room and was extremely disappointed. The room was too small to have a desk, chair or a piece of furniture to place our clothing in or on. There wasn't a closet in the room other than a rod to hang two short items. The bed sunk and uncomfortable with feather pillows that came through the pillowcase. Needless to say, it was a horrible night sleep. Our stay was at the end of our vacation after being on the road for 2 1/2 weeks. It's unfortunate that I would not recommend this hotel or return. The pictures on the website show rooms but of course not the room we received. The price did not match our accommodations. read more

Emeline was a brand new hotel when I went in 2020. It's located in the heart of Charleston, South Carolina. I was invited to stay at the Emeline for the weekend and we had a great time! As we were entering the hotel, we were welcomed with a peach punch cocktail by one of their staff and then Mr. Shannon gave us a tour around the hotel showing us all the details. Emiline features lots of local products and artists, gorgeous designs and a warm southern hospitality that made us feel like home. They have valet parking so I didn't have to worry about parking my car. Also, the hotel is located downtown within a walking distance of all the tourist spots. The room was gorgeous and it smelled new and fresh! There was a sitting area with a TV, refrigerator and breakfast table. They left a cute bag with some goodies and a sweet card for me on the table. In the bag I found a box of local chocolates, peach tea and a room spray with the Emeline scent that I love so much! The bed was very comfortable and we had a great night of sleep. There was a glass water bottle available for us to get some fresh still or sparkling water from the water station near our room. The bathroom had a very open and clean feeling, designed in white with black details and the bathtub was so dreamy! The amenities included free toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion that smells amazing!), hair dryer, towels and a black makeup towel. The robe was also available and it's super soft and comfortable. At night, we had drinks and pizza from @frannieandthefox in their gorgeous outside space with a fireplace. Pizzas are half price after 10pm and they are delicious! I haven't had a pizza this good in a long time! They gave us this corn dish with mint, feta cheese and peppers that was so good! In the morning, we had a mocha and croissants from @clerkscoffeeco. Everything was delicious and the cafe is gorgeous! I'm happy to give Emeline 5 stars! For the hospitality, comfort, cleanliness and freshness, valet parking, coffee shop, restaurant and having a bar available and for being right in the middle of downtown! - Stayed there in August 2020 - Disclaimer: They did not ask me to review the hotel on Yelp. Loved our stay here. Location - it's literally right next to the horse and carriage rides and the outdoor market, and close to King Street. Amenities- they have a water bubbler (flat and sparking) on every floor. The suites are beautiful, with a record player, and can even hold two king beds! They also have a cafe downstairs, and a pretty outdoor fireplace area. The only downsides I experienced - I tried to call for delayed check out and got no call back with a follow up answer - my elderly father fell in the shower because the floor was slippery and there was nothing to hold on to read more

Fantastic! The the valet to the room...it was nice. The hotel setup was very nice! The aroma of the hotel and room was very pleasant. Enjoyed the atmosphere within the room with the old school record player (the record skipped ). But it all worked. The room was very comfortable. Also had a steamer for your clothes to get the wrinkles out! They did not elaborate in WiFi options. Seemed like there were a few. The bar area and outside seating is very nice. Great location! What an enigma of a property. We were confused when we arrived to the hotel because it didn't have a dominant facade that distinguished itself as one. So the entrance to the property was neither vehicle or people friendly. We had to double park on the street and hustle to get our luggage out. (I'm sure this is a restored historical property and strict zoning codes dictate building requirements), but c'mon not even an awning in case of rain? The two main ways into the building itself made no sense. A pair of narrow refurbished heavy doors met you after having to navigate an awkward higher than normal stone step. Obviously not user friendly at all. Next to the valet stand, there were a set of larger glass doors but they were not automatic and there was no clear signage indicating that this was the way to enter if you have a stroller, luggage, a cart filled with belongings, in a wheelchair etc. What bothered me the most was not seeing any clearly visible handicap button to help with the doors. When we returned in the early evening, no one was even there to assist us when I was in my wheelchair. In general, Charleston is a dangerous place to walk due to the incredibly uneven surfaces, cobblestones, bricks etc. At least they could provide better ambulatory access to hotels and restaurants. On the plus side, the lobby, reception area and the restaurant Frankie and The Fox was attractive, bustling and had a good vibe. The courtyard that extended out from the eatery was huge and offered ample seating and a gorgeous gas burning brick fireplace. The fire was roaring, but none of the heaters were activated so we didn't stay. It may have been a help yourself situation, where we could turn them on ourselves but we weren't informed. We thought it was a wise energy saving effort, just wish we knew if it was OK to turn it on ourselves. Service was warm, gracious and for the most part was great from the valet to check in. We have two labs, so seeing all the dogs meandering this pet friendly place was awesome! As soon as we hit the elevators after checking in, problems surfaced as they were poorly located, and totally inadequate for the size of the building and the number of guests. (Only one was operational so I had to take the stairs twice from the third floor). I'm partially disabled, but not so that I require or need an accessible room. At times, I need to use a wheelchair. The hike to get to our room was excessive even for nimble folks who may have been dragging their own suitcases or luggage carts over the carpeted floors, The hallways were devoid of any wall decor, which did nothing to help to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Immediately upon entering, I was not impressed with our "suite". The ceilings were low, the woefully small windows one in each room were painted shut. No ceiling fans and the thermostat in the room did not cooperate when we programmed to at least have the air circulating but we never got it to work. The walls were painted a dark blue green and even worse, the trim and doors were black. The furnishings were also dark and dowdy, lighting poor, and the amount of furniture they had in the living area was over the top and the scale of the pieces were much too large for the space. My husband and I could literally not be in that room together because we we dodging not only each other but the poorly proportioned furniture plus our belongings as storage was seriously lacking. I spent no time in that section of the suite. The designers of these rooms seriously had no education in room planning. The bathroom was a complete letdown. A tub/shower combo with absolutely nothing to grip for safety while getting in or getting out. (This should be mandatory for all tub/shower combos regardless who uses it). As a result, I could only use the shower once during our 4 day stay. Had to be creative in getting clean every day. The vanity sink area had only one vessel and the set up was unattractive. Nowadays the definition of a suite was nothing like it was years ago. It no longer conjures up thoughts of pampering, luxury, or larger, grander spaces. Our "suite" would have been much more comfortable had they just made it one large space. The location of the hotel was excellent. The thoughtful idea of putting a complimentary coffee, water and fruit station on each flour was a great concept. Instead of an ice machine, they had freezer drawers that had perfectly portioned little bags of ice. Smart. However, since our room was so far from the elevators where everything was located, we only filled our water bottles as we left or returned to the hotel.. In December, we stayed at Hilton Club's Liberty Place and much preferred the accommodations there. Beautiful high end finishes, ample room, balcony, kitchen. Sorry Emeline. Loved your vibe, but not our cup of tea. read more

Absolutely loved our stay at Emeline this weekend. While it's located right in the heart of the historic district, the vibe of the hotel is fresh, modern, with just the right amount of luxury. Service was excellent: We arrived off of a red eye from California, and they were able to find an available guest room for an early check in. Thanks to Lisa in guest services for finding our reservation and helping make this happen. It was such a lifesaver! Our server at Frannie and The Fox, Cyenna, was very friendly and gave a lot of insight on the local area. And finally, a special thanks to Diane, the Guest Services Manager, who helped me when I realized I left my brand new fur trimmed coat at the hotel after we already departed. We stayed at Emeline for only one night as a stop over before heading home back to Florida, but I would 100% stay here when in Charleston again. The location is perfect and the on-site amenities such as the restaurant and coffee shop are great for those who like an all-in-one type of stay. This hotel is pure class from the decor to the attention to details in the room. We stayed in room 445 and upon entering a big comfy couch greets you with a vinyl record player to relax and ease into your stay. Our room had Sam Cooke, Fleetwood Mac, The Bee Gees and a custom vinyl made for the hotel that is a compilation record (and you can buy it at the shop in the lobby). On our floor there was also a communal area for ice and water - including a sparkling water fountain. As for COVID safety measures throughout the hotel there are hand sanitizers and tissues to use when in elevators. Staff from the front desk to valet service were all incredibly nice and helpful. If you are wondering, "should I stay here?" The answer is unequivocally "yes!" read more

My husband and I stayed at Emeline in August 2022. It is such a fun and unique hotel. It is very stylish and has a nice scent that permeates the lobby. The location was fantastic--very walkable to many places. I loved exploring the layout and looking at all of the decor. I would love to go back, but may be deterred due to the mattress being terrible for my back problems. To make this a quick review, below is my pros and cons list. PROS: * Central location *Atmosphere/decor *Has a coffee shop *Beautiful courtyard *Has an on-site restaurant and bar, Frannie & the Fox *Luxurious touches, like marble tables *Soft bed linens *Spacious walk-in shower *Record player in room *Stations for complimentary water and fruit *Complimentary morning coffee in the lobby *Valet parking (but also see cons list) CONS: *Mattress-- too soft for my bad back *No coffee maker in room *Small guest room that can get a little dark *No lock in bathroom *No bathtub *Food was overpriced for the quality *Pricey valet is the only parking option-- We booked with Expedia and were able to get it for free. read more

I wanted a little get away and i choose to stay in Charleston. The Emeline was recommended by a couple of my friends. The Hotel was beautiful. The room was great and very clean. Brendan, who seemed to be running the whole place, went out of his way to help us. I have been in the hospitality business my whole life and this young man is excellent at his job. He seemed to make sure all the employees were okay and the guests satisfied. Our stay was fantastic and i highly recommend this great hotel. read more

Good: grate location to walk to anything if you want to walk anywhere in downtown good weeding venue. Grate if your in Charleston to party not for relaxing Bad: if solo traveler this is not your hotel it's vary vary Busy, the elevator was broken during my stay making it vary hard to get anywhere so be comfy with the taking the stairs, the walls are paper thin you can hear your next door Nabor hacking up a storm coughing, and throwing up including crying baby's and the coffee machines are broken most of the time, if your there to relax it's not the place to be if you party then it is , Side note: when you do commit to a room in the Emilie make sure you know your price of the room prior to checking in as they will say they will upgrade you but will charge you for it. Also be prepared to pay 28% in taxes in addition to your room rate overpriced but the staff are vary polite and nice and tries to work hard with the hotels short comings read more

One of my favorite hotels I have stayed in so far. When you go definitely try and get one of their soaking tubs it is worth the price of admission. When you arrive you get a welcome cocktail! Then on every floor there is a hydration station where you can get still and sparkling water. Everything in the hotel is designed so stylishly from the velvet headboard to the velvet couch in beautifully contrasting colors. I stayed at The Emeline for 20+ days and it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had! The room I stayed in (Atelier Premier King) was cozy and I slept right through the night thanks to the super comfortable bed. The staff went above and beyond to ensure my stay was seamless. Whenever I needed something, like laundry service, they were always attentive, friendly, and eager to help. One of the best features is the restaurant, Frannie and the Fox. The hot honey pizza (with sausage!) quickly became a favorite of mine. As an early riser, I appreciated the fresh coffee available in the lobby at 6 a.m. every day. You'll also find coffee, filtered water, and other amenities on each floor. Best of all, the location is perfect. Being within walking distance of Charleston's best attractions (loved going on walks by the Waterfront Park after dinner) made exploring the city a breeze. Overall, The Emeline is a total gem and I can't wait to return! read more

Beautiful hotel with a location convenient to downtown shopping areas, but the rooms were quiet at night, and well-appointed. Friendly staff. After a flight change to a red-eye, I arrived at 9am, well in advance of check-in. The staff at the front desk prioritized the cleaning of my room, and I was gratefully napping by 10am. The coffee bar on each hallway were a godsend. Staff was courteous, respectful, and friendly. I'd stay there again. read more

I have stayed at Emeline's sister hotel in Nashville, Noel which was an amazing experience. The experience was so great which is why I thought Emeline would be just the same. I was VERY wrong and not only that, I invited a friend and got him to stay at Emeline and he had a horrible experience as well. We booked the artist loft which is supposed to have free coffee service, city views, a sitting area,that definitely was not the case. We never got coffee, and our view... was of a brick wall. When we first arrived I noticed our dinner reservation as canceled for no reason, I asked the front desk and they told me there was an investors meeting so the restaurant was not available. Ok.... It would have been nice to have gotten a notice and even better to have them try to make it right in some sort of way but no, we had to figure out where to go last minute. We were on the 4th floor in room 406. Our room looked so cheap, there was no sitting area which was also stated we would have. The bathroom looked super cheap as well. I think a holiday inn would have been better. Not only that but our body wash was never replenished, I had to call 3 times and 2 hrs later we finally got a bottle of body wash.... My husband called to make sure they gave us the right room... the front desk laughed at him ON THE PHONE and said yes... The customer service was just horrible, I'm really shocked. Their marketing does a spectacular job at making it seem you're going to stay at a 5 star hotel because that's not the case at all. We asked for a late check out... noon was the best they could do.... When we checked out we were not asked how our stay was, nothing. They were able to give my friend that was staying in room 253 a $400 refund and I feel we should receive the same or more for the lack of EVERYTHING. To the manager Carly, you really have a lot of work to do. Your staff needs more training, more enthusiasm, and this hotel needs an upgrade even though it has not been opened long at all. read more

Staff was kind and helpful/ the hotel is just so fly too look at and experience. The restaurant is yummy. None of it is budget friendly but I think this is a case of "you get what you pay for" in the best way. We had such a great weekend!!! read more

We booked this hotel on Booking.com for location and price and boy did we get our moneys worth! Beautiful location, smartly appointed. Fancy but not posh or snobby. Great coffee at Clerks, Fannie & the Fox looks great have not eaten there yet. Love our room, very comfortable. Only negatives so far are that the room is very dimly lit, annoyingly so, and the Oscar's were on and we rushed back from our lovely dinner at Coastal Bar & Grill and could not get the channel on the television boo!! The location is prime! We would stay here again. read more

Our group stayed here for my sister in-laws birthday weekend in September. Everything about this hotel is excellent. Beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, and a bar downstairs that makes awesome drinks. Great location that made it easy to walk to a lot of places we wanted to check out. read more

Rooms dark and furniture not proportioned to the space. Dark walls revealed chipped paint. Hallway carpet had spots and looked seedy. Not enough hooks to hang towels nor enough electrical outlets. Front desk staff never communicated with bell stand. Parking $53 a day for valet;$35 for unattended parking across the street. Amenity package $35 for soaps and washes. Front desk staff couldn't explain our bill. The In-room book sported info about all their artistic brands and partnerships, but no info on connecting to internet. Saving grace is restaurant staff and others who absolutely rocked. Itzel, Jimmy, Brandon and Mark were incredibly helpful. The restaurant and bar are happening places during late afternoon and evening. Happy hour is 3-4 pm for free (included in the price of your room) wine and beer but in-room info says happy hour is 3-5 pm. Products offered are terrible; not even two-buck-chuck. Don't plan your day around this feature. Our traveling companions suggested Emeline because fresh mozzarella is made every day. Would love to be friends with the aforementioned staff, but won't return to Emeline to reconnect. read more

We have a 10 month old that needed to nap/breastmilk that needed to go in the fridge/needed to pump/husband needed to work we let them know ahead time and they were able to check us in early. Valet was also great, got us or pack n play right away and let us put frozen items in their freezer for the baby. We booked the room w/attached living room & king bed and it was perfect size for a family. Highly recommend this hotel also great location! Also saw someone else complain about entrance to hotel but had opposite experience and thought was great. There are two entrances and a ramp, we don't have a wheelchair but we thought it worked great with a big stroller. The hotel also isn't on a busier Main Street so we were able to easily park in front to unload. Also love coffee station! Valet and front desk customer service was also great! read more
