Stayed here for two nights for a business trip. Checking in was absolutely easy, and they thanked me for being a card member. The room was very clean, the bed was quite comfortable, and the pillows were great. The bathroom while being very clean, had a dated tub, and could use a refresh. I had no issues with the Wi-Fi, as has been mentioned in previous reviews, but I also pay for the $4.95 high speed upgrade, when I'm traveling for work. Front desk staff was absolutely amazing and kind. The cafe staff were sweet and helpful, although it was unfortunate that nothing was available except for Starbucks and the quick serve. I had arrived hungry, and had to order Uber eats for lunch. That in itself is not an issue, I might have done so anyway. The fitness center is small, but very well equipped to get in a nice workout. Full selection of free weights, a weight bench and elliptical, peloton, and two treadmills. I would absolutely stay here again if I was in the area, it's conveniently located to plenty of nice restaurants for a night out, also. read more

This hotel stay was booked from a recommendation and it didn't tell you how insanely rude the staff is. I will not stay here while I visit Rays Bike park again! Unbelievable, the front desk staff wore a teddy bear oversized blanket/ shirt to work in! The same woman told me there were complaints about my family being in the pool area. The right thing to do, was to talk to us and say hey, it's adult swim I will have to ask you to leave. The wrong thing she did was tell me my kids were a problem ! The women in the pool area were loud, swearing and inappropriate. Glad to know that was ok. There are several Hiltons in the area, run there ! read more

Last minute business trip and decided to stay here for a couple of nights. The rates were reasonable and this was a mere 15 minutes away from my business meetings in downtown Cleveland. Checking in was a breeze. Took only a few minutes to verify reservations and was assigned a room on the 5th floor. Front desk staff was very nice and helpful. They even provided tips on traffic times and nearby points of interest. The room was clean. The bed was fully made and sheets were fresh. The shower was fully stocked with fresh towels and spotless. The room even had a balcony for some fresh air. My only complaint was the USB and power plugs on the nightstands intermittently worked and the plug was not securely attached. Aside from that little quirk this property offers decent amenities such as pool, jacuzzi, gym, and clean common area. I would stay here again. read more

Free parking is appreciated. Bed was comfy. Front desk staff was nice. I usually stay at SpringHill Suites and I thought Courtyards were a step up, but this experience was not as nice as I'm used to. My room smelled a bit musty and the shower/tub was older and worn. I got to the cafe shortly after 6:30 am hoping to be able to order breakfast, but there was only one cafe staffer working and she was racing around trying to both take and make all of the orders, some which looked complex. I waited for a bit, but I couldn't be late for work, so I skipped breakfast. read more

Hotel is a 3 star at best based on being out dated. Then o top of that, don't expect to be able to watch tv if it's raining. TV went out along with internet multiple times the first night. Then here comes the second night- toilets on the hotel start backing up! Disgusting and go figure the water started to overflow everywhere! They do not have mate nance on the weekend and one of the girls from the front desk had to plunge and clean up the water all over the floor that ran to the carpet. They did not have any rooms to move me to and also would not comp the room for the night. I received a $50 credit and will not ever go back! read more

Just had my son's wedding this past weekend and this hotel did a great job with all the rooms and letting us use the conference room for the bridal party which was large to get ready all of the staff was professional and helpful . Very good parking. Location/access superb. I return to area in 10 days and I'll stay here again. Due to Bistro closed and no fresh coffee in lobby I made it four stars. The rooms were very clean. The breakfast was good. Cable tv doesn't offer a whole bunch and if you want more it cost more money. WiFi was ok. Buffered quite a bit. A/C worked good. Nice rooms but I felt they were a bit pricey since they were suppose to be discounted for convention. We recommend since it's only 10 min from Convention center. read more

Stayed here for a weekend. The hotel was easy to find via GPS and there is free parking, which is always a plus. The front desk staff was very kind and courteous and I had no problems checking in. The room itself was fairly updated and very clean. I wasn't in the hotel very much, but I had a great stay overall. read more

I stay at Marriott properties all the time,even at the 5 star hotels I've never been treated better. His voice is pleasant and it seems like he knows when someone needs to just relax.The check in was fast,and the room was clean and comfortable. I recently stayed at the "Courtyard Cleveland Independence" location for two nights. Overall, it's a clean, comfortable hotel. I had no issues with my room. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, the WiFi was fast, the HVAC worked well, and the mini fridge kept my drinks cold. The hotel does have some major issues maintenance-wise and in other areas: - The rooms feel dated. My bathroom, while clean, needs to be updated. The shower looked like it is one of those one-piece fiberglass units - and the finish on it was yellowed. - The word "Marriott" on the outside of the hotel is on the fritz - flashing intermittently like a strobe light. - One of the elevators was out-of-order during my stay. - This Courtyard has the worst condition parking lot I have ever seen at any hotel. The entire parking lot needs to be re-leveled and repaved. - The HD TV in my room was really old, and really small. The TV's are mounted on a mounting board, that has room to support a much larger (and thinner) flat screen HD TV. - When I checked in, I attempted to upgrade to their "Enhanced WiFi" package for faster speed. However, the system kept telling me I was not in their system. The front desk called their tech support, and it took them approximately 30 minutes to manually address the issue. While I had some problems and criticisms of the hotel - again, overall, my room was fine. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again when visiting the Independence, OH area - hopefully the hotel will have addressed all of these issues soon. #CourtyardClevelandIndependence #Marriott read more

I loved the modern decor in the hotel! The lobby is very sheek and offers plenty of space to relax or grab a bite of food from their cafe. I got a room with a king bed and boy was it comfy! Soft and like laying on a cloud. I feel some hotel beds are stiff, but this is was perfect after dancing all night at a friends wedding. I loved the little sofa and large desk. The sink is outside of the bathroom, which I like and the closet doors are full mirrors, which I also find some hotel rooms lack. Perfect amount of lights in the room, USB outlet and double layered curtains. The Courtyard does not have a continental breakfast, but there is a cafe downstairs that has Starbucks coffee. I only saw and spoke to the hotel receptionist when we checked in. Overall, a great nights stay and plenty of parking! read more

I stayed here during the period of October 20-23. I was staying as part of an event hosted by Wounded Warrior Project. Some of the staff were absolutely amazing. Some were not. Some were extremely helpful. Front desk and housekeeping were great. The staff working the cafe during the morning of the 22nd were awful. Rude and inconsistent service. They went out of their way to deny service to Military veterans while giving full service to every civilian who stepped up to the counter. All Civilians were given their orders while veterans were told that certain items were unavailable while civilians who ordered before and after them got the same exact order without hesitation or delay. The manager stepped in and the staff were so disrespectful to their own boss the police had to be called. Our Wounded Warrior Project event staff ended up having to arrange for a local catering service to provide breakfast as our attendees were being denied service while still serving other guests. The Hotel staff did their best to make things right after the fact and even made a separate breakfast area for event attendees the morning of the 23rd. It was nice but reinforced the separation and divided service. We didn't come to this hotel to be segregated from other guests. We just wanted the same service as everyone else which shouldn't be out of the ordinary. read more

First, let me state the positives. The front desk staff was pleasant and checked us in quickly. Our room was spacious and the bed was comfortable and we have enough space for our electronics. Now the negatives: we booked this hotel using points because their website said that they had a hot tub. After we had dinner out and came back to the hotel to use the hot tub imagine our surprise when we got to the pool area and found that the hot tub had been closed for maintenance. Front desk definitely should've said something about that. Then we had issues connecting to the free Wi-Fi and that meant an employee had to come up to our room and fix it and she was wonderful and did it quickly. Breakfast the next morning was a little bit of a disappointment. While the food was good, my husband had ordered the lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes. When they were brought out to him he was told that there was no ricotta. Why on earth would you still have that on the menu if you didn't help one of the main ingredients? read more

No staff at check in desk (or in sight at all) on arrival at about 9 PM; had to wait 10 minutes for desk to be staffed. Housekeeping didn't come through until after 5 PM on one day during trip; which was after we'd returned home for the day. Hotel was otherwise a pretty standard Courtyard by Marriott. In pretty good shape, clean, and well appointed. The rooms were a bit dark / lacked lighting and windows, but that might have been a function of it being pretty grey outside in December. read more

I am a loyal Marriott user but I have to say I was less than thrilled with this property. Oh sure- it's conveniently located, has a friendly staff, a pool, large workout room and a nice area to enjoy breakfast. My room was clean, the bed was comfortable, there was free Internet and free coffee in my room and I even had a nice sized balcony. So what went wrong? I couldn't sleep. There is a large amount of noise transfer between rooms in this hotel. It was like the people next to me and above me were in my room! And given the couple next door was arguing all night and continued again at the crack of dawn, I was woken up more times than I can count. These walls were so thin- I could even hear when the man above me used the bathroom. C'mon Marriott! You can do better than this . . .I've seen it! read more

We called to let them know we were running late and wouldn't be arriving till around midnight. When we got there our check in was pretty fast and painless. Lobby was clean and quiet. The elevator and the hall to the room were so hot I could barely breathe. The room was luckily not that hot but still a bit warm. We turned the air on and it cooled off pretty quickly. Once in the and settled the room was pretty nice, it felt fairly new like. The pillow/headboard hybrid on the bed though had a bit of a weird smell (smoke like) when I was turning down the pillows. The bed was good, nothing special. I enjoyed that they have moved to bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel to help on waste. But there was no soap for the sink to wash your hands, sooo that was pretty disgusting, we just had to keep getting pumps of shower gel in the bathtub. Not terrible, had we stayed longer than 5 hours to sleep I would have asked for a few things to be taken care of. read more

I am in a hotel 100-120 nights per year. I felt obliged to give a 5 star review because I so rarely get the type of service that years ago was common place. When you walk in you're greeted with a smile and someone at the desk that was willing to bend over backwards to make sure your stay is pleasant. I am an early riser and got down an hour before the market was open. Mike at the front desk offered me a free cup of coffee and even asked me if I would like him to grab a larger cup from the kitchen. That might seem like a little thing, but this kind of service and pleasant attitude extended from the front desk personnel and management to housekeeping and even those working in the market. I heard the phrase "we just want you to be happy (or comfortable) a few times during my stThis drive to go above and beyond was evident the last time I stayed at this hotel. If you have stayed at a Courtyard, you know what to expect. The rooms were clean and functional. Do not expect luxurious, I gave this 5 star review on service for a hotel that caters to someone like me, the business traveler. I would suspect this hotel has gotten a renovation in the last few years so it is not one if the older Courtyard models. I have stayed here before and will stay here again when in the area. I came back for another stay and again I was blown away by the service I received across-the-board by the staff at this hotel. I actually felt compelled to write a thank you note for the manager, which is the first time I've done that in 25 years of travel. A specific mention for Eli in their cafe. He was friendly to the point where I want some of his meds. A+++ service! read more

Very clean and inviting. What you would expect out of a freshly renovated and welll kept property. Rooms were clean and well appointed with everything needed. Fridge did not work but not a big deal this time. Did not ask for a working one though I assume the staff would be on top of fixing the issue due to the actions they took at check in and how clean the place was. The tv was dated and remote was terrible. Beds were clean and very comfortable. Oh and the king rooms have beds FACING THE WINDOWS AND NOT A WALL. Great set up! Shower was excellent and overall this place was a 10. Breakfast was very disappointing as it was restaurant style and not continental. For the price, we chose to go out! Its a Courtyard. Everything is standard to all others. I like my balcony, however there are no chairs out there....strange. I miss the Springhills cheap, but FREE breakfast. The Courtyard has a little restauarunt, but their breakfast isn't really that good, and its not free, and its a bit pricey. its nice to have a little bar, but other than that.... not really overly impressed with that whole food thing. However, extra stars for the staff, and the cleanliness.. and location. Its off of Rockside Road,which is crazy busy, but is enough tucked away to not let you think you are all caught up in the business of the road. Internet worked well, and was free. When traveling to Ohio on business colleagues recommended I stay here. I realized that I am a hotel snob. This place is fine. It really is. But it's barely a step above a motel. I sat on the edge of the bed and the mattress sagged under my weight. The sheets are super scratchy. The decor is old & out of date. There were various errant hairs in the shower (ew, right?!). There is no room service. And it was sub-zero temps and I didn't have a car for my first day and there isn't anything within walking distance when it's that cold (but in the summer it would be easy to walk for food). To their credit: the service is spectacular and friendly. It is VERY quiet. They have a decent breakfast buffet in the morning (though it is not complimentary, it is inexpensive). There's free internet (though it's not super speedy). They're willing to help you get food delivered if you're hungry or arrange a ride to the airport for you. I'll probably try out the Hyatt next door next time I'm in town. It's a little cheaper and they have room service. read more

Rooms have been updated which is nice but still Has the stucco walls. Guess it cost too much to get new sheet rock. Also kinda weird that there was no headboard just 2 foam boards covered in pillowcases. Phone didn't look like it was dusted or cleaned for some time so that me wonder what else hasn't been cleaned. As a Marriott guy, I've stayed in many different types of Marriott venues. This site, by far, was the best Courtyard location I've ever been at. It felt just a cut below staying at a J.W. My room was extremely comfortable (2 queen standard), and was updated to a very modern/professional style. The lobby was arranged for professional comfort, not the family vacation style. All of the staff were friendly and helpful; a likely holdover of the fact that this Courtyard is in the Midwest. This was especially true of the cleaning staff. Unless there are other rooms that are not updated, I would recommend this Marriott to anyone staying in the area. Actually, the conference for which I was in town was in downtown Cleveland - an easy 15 minute drive at most. I would have liked to have stayed downtown, but the price and comfort of this Courtyard has me hooked. read more

This hotel has potential. I wanted to love it so bad, but a lot of negatives that contribute to me leaning more towards bad, than good. Let me start off with the good. Very friendly and informative staff. Easy check in. Easy check out. Their point system for the Marriott rewards is great. Wonderful modern decor. Good size room. Comfortable bed. (We stayed in King). Spacious bathroom. Lobby/ dining area was wonderful. Starbucks on sight - love it!!! Very unique hotel with a lot to offer. So much potential. The BAD. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible cigarette smell everywhere. The sofa bed in our room, the curtains, and the carpet smelled of cigarette smoke. It was so disgusting. We had to keep the air conditioning on constantly to circulate some air,. We also had to Febreeze the room ourselves that's how bad it is. We realized it really didn't matter what we did as our room was right above the front door of the hotel. (3rd floor, but directly above) Well right outside the front door is where everyone smokes. The smoke smell traveled up to our room every single night. It was so horrible. On top of the cigarette smoke, there is a lovely weed stench. EVERYWHERE. We smelled it in the parking lot. On our floor. Right outside the elevator. It's so disgusting. All I can say about this is the staff needs to pay better attention to this. If you have a no smoking policy then you need to enforce it. No smoking on the premises. Period. It's really disgusting. As for the low class trash smoking the weed in your rooms and right outside the parking lot, take it elsewhere. There are kids in this hotel constantly and they don't need to be around it as well as anyone else. Secondly, I had a strange encounter with the girl at the front desk. I needed my stay extended. She said she could extend my stay, however there was no king rooms open for the extra day. So, I understood- she said she could move me to a double queen. I said ok no problem. She proceeds to tell me that they are "over booked by 8. Meaning 8 people are coming in the next day expecting a king room but those people aren't going to get them because they are overbooked." I thought to myself, what? I'm sorry but if I'm one of those people I'm going to be angry when I arrive. If I book a king room, that's what I would expect. It made me rethink booking with them in the future because if I book a specific room, that's what I am going to want. I am not going to want bad news once I arrive at the hotel. All in all, good hotel it's just unfortunate the bad out weighted the good for me. read more

My Mom, daughter and I stayed here and was very happy with room or service. The staff was nice and breakfast was yummy.

CONS: Extremely dirty carpet in hallways and elevators. Urine stains on the toilet in my room. No hair conditioner in my bathroom (although I asked for 2 through my Marriott app as a member -I didn't get any). Their pool and hot tub are dirty, so is the water in them (the hot tub has a wide streak of dirt right above the water line). Glasses in my room were dirty. Bath tub inside my room had a dirty yellowish color to it, walls were dirty. Combine it with the large reusable shower dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and shower gel and you get that cheap motel 6 feel ( although I've never stayed in one, that's how I would imagine it). I wonder if putting coins into the dispensers to use the shampoo is their next step. PROS: Front desk staff was patient and friendly and attempted to resolve my issues. I was in need of a retreat. Instead of spending a few hundred dollars to get away, I decided to find a nice hotel within the city to hide away. I picked the Courtyard Cleveland Independence. The single bed room was spacious. It had enough room to fit a small couch, coffee table, and desk. Internet was included in the costs. Breakfast was not included in the costs, but had an impressive buffet that included special orders made to your liking. All employees were quite friendly. Overall, it was great experience. read more

I generally stay at higher end hotels but was impressed by the great service and hospitality in this place. The guy at the cafe has a tremendous energy and everyone was educated and upbeat which made the experience here great. Rooms are like normal Courtyard ones with nice design upgrades but I wish they had TVs that work better with the remote. Nice pool but wish the fitness center was a little bit bigger. What a difference one person at the desk can make. We stayed here last month for one night. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable but we kept waking up. Reason: cigarette smoke kept coming into our room all night. We didn't call the management (our mistake) because we kept thinking, "ok, this will be the last cigarette" but the smoker(s) continued on into the morning. We're not light sleepers so it was bad. Upon checking out at the desk I confirmed that the hotel had a non-smoking policy and informed the male employee that our whole night was disturbed. His neutral response, "well, if we catch who did it they'll have to pay extra." Period. (lots of luck on that) Couldn't believe that there was no apology or concern. The response revolved entirely around the hotel and not one bit of concern or consideration for the customer. read more
