This used to be the best place in the area for an extended stay. Now, it is absolute garbage. Dirty rooms, housekeeping that doesn't restock anything or actually clean anything, and a front desk and management team that is utterly useless. Upon the arrival to a hotel in which my children and I always frequent hotels on birthdays as either a staycation or vacation. Upon me entering the hotel I was somewhat greeted by Brittany who never followed the 15/5 rule. Brittany asked? "What brings you in today?" I replied by saying "It's my son's 15th birthday and we decided to come here as a family with a few friends to celebrate." Brittany replied by saying "Well don't leave him alone". I was caught completely off guard and I said, "Of course I wouldn't leave him alone." Brittany's statement bothered me so much that when I went to the room to take our belongings, I expressed my concerns to my daughter that I was offended and needed to say something. I went to the lobby and told Brittany that I was offended by her statement of me leaving my child alone. Brittany says, "well people do it all the time!" This was very offensive also as just because "people" do it does not mean it is ok for you to judge and think that I will also. A few hours pass and we go to dinner for my son's birthday celebration in Westlake Ohio which is about a 45 minute commute to the hotel. My daughter who is 20 decided to leave and head back to the hotel with my son and his friend. I stayed back to wait for boxes and my tab and said that I would be headed back soon. As I am in route to the hotel from dinner, I get a call from my daughter who at this time had been back to the hotel for maybe 20 minutes. My daughter Layviell says "Brittany sent the security guard to the room because you left your ID at the front desk." I call Brittany at the front desk to tell her I am in route and as soon as she answers she says "hello?" (Improper). I say "hello???" (Is this Residence Inn?). Brittany proceeds to say "You have to come get your ID!....See this is what I was talking about!!! You left your son unattended!!!!" I proceed by saying "How did I leave my son unattended and my daughter is an adult?" Brittany says, "Well I am calling the police." (My reservation was for 4 children and 2 adults in which 1 adult and 4 children were in the hotel room during this time.) Once Brittany told me that police were headed to my young adults who are again 20 and 15 years of age. I began to speed to try to get to the hotel because I am scared at this point not knowing how this situation is going to go because my children have never had to be in a situation to this capacity with police officers. The police got there before me of course and made my children very uncomfortable and nervous. Everyone was escorted out of the room by the time I arrived. I go to the front desk and ask to speak with Brittany and was immediately told that Brittany was no longer there. Brittany was Indeed there and hiding in the back room. My boyfriend and I asked Phyllis, John and the security guard what was the reason for us being evicted and they all said they had no clue. I am not sure how someone is evicted with no reason. Brittany made fictitious police report due to her being coerced to act out someone's prejudices and/or her own personal bias. Brittany was nasty from the time I entered until the time she had me removed. Brittany ruined my son's 15th birthday and made this such a traumatic experience for all of us. Caused so much stress and anxiety within those few hours. Due to us being removed with no explanation I decided to go back on 12/9 to get my questions answered, my concerns heard and to ask when I would receive a refund. Upon my entrance Brittany refused to service me by locking the doors to the lobby. I immediately picked up the phone and she answered. I asked why she locked the door as I only wanted answers to the questions that I had. Brittany proceeded to say, "This is not Brittany this is Tiffany." I asked, "So why are you locking the door?". Brittany then acts like the phone is out of order and proceeds to hang up. Since this situation occurred, I have reached out to Marriott's customer service and have not able to talk to anyone with any resolve. I also spoke with General manager Anthony who said that he would call me back and have not heard back from him either as my concerns continue to go unheard. I finally received an email back stating that the general manager said we were evicted due to smoking, a party going on in room and me leaving children left unattended. There was no party as there were less people than my reservation stated and there were no children left unattended as my daughter is 20 years old. This situation saddens me that it is ok for Marriott and their employees to mistreat loyal customers. I am currently in process of filing federal complaint. My son is now deceased and that was his last bday and this is the memory that we have left on the last memorable bday. read more

I was initially hesitant after reading some Yelp reviews, but I decided to book through Expedia, where the hotel had an 8.6 rating--not bad at all! A few days before my arrival, I called a couple of times to check if early check-in would be possible. Grace and Andre were both incredibly kind and assured me that while it wasn't guaranteed, they would accommodate me if availability allowed. When I arrived in the morning, I was greeted by Mark, who was extremely friendly and welcoming. Without any hassle, he allowed me to check in early, which I truly appreciated. Later, when I realized I had forgotten to bring body lotion, I went back to ask Mark, and he generously provided me with a couple of bottles without hesitation--such great service! The room was nice and clean, with a little kitchen that made my stay even more comfortable. The breakfast each morning was fantastic, with a great variety--croissants, bagels, English muffins, bread, scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, cereal, waffles, and, of course, coffee. I loved it! At checkout, Bernetta (apologies if I misspelled your name) was also very kind and helpful, making the departure process just as smooth as my arrival. Overall, my stay was a 5-star experience. I hope future guests have just as great a visit as I did! I'll be traveling to Cleveland more often for business and will definitely be booking here again. read more

As far as Residence Inn's go, this one is decidedly average. Was able to get a cheap, pet friendly room with a kitchen which was exactly what we were looking for. The hotel wasn't very full so it was fairly quiet. The bed and comforter set in our room wasn't very comfortable and the tv was about as low definition as they come. read more

I have never stayed in a residence inn so it was a surprise. This type of arrangement with full kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom is for those who stay for longer periods so it feels like home. I can say that the median age of all the people staying here was 50-60 and above. Possibly they were visiting the hospitals in the area. They do seem to have special rates for hospitals. Call on the phone before making a reservation online to see if you can get a discount. I liked the spaciousness of the room. Kitchen is equipped with all appliances you can think of plus there were dishes and glasses as well in addition to complimentary popcorn! There was a list for grocery shopping. So it seems that they would do your grocery shopping if u need it as well. My complaint is the bathroom. The shower was fine but towards the end of my shower, the water got really cold (guessing one of the neighbors also started using the shower). I thought that only happens in an apartment. But wait, this is an apartment too. Lol. The toilet also easily got clogged. First time this ever happened to me in a hotel.. So you can imagine that the facility is sort of becoming run down. They had different "socials" and wednesday evening when i was staying, there was complimentary soup, ceaser salad and chips were served along with beverages in the lobby area from 6 to 7:30.. I thought that was very cool. Doesnt replace dinner unfortunately but there are some restaurants in the area which you can order from using ubereats or drive. Closest was 15 minute walking distance and since it is winter, you dont wanna walk that far in the dark.. And the breakfast! So good! You could make your waffle and there were many sauces. The eggs felt cold but they also had bacon and chicken sausage, biscuits and gravy, variety of fruits from strawberries to pineapple, grape, bananas and apples. There were also plenty of muffins and bagels etc..Overall, i loved the breakfast. Best complimentary breakfast i had so far. The front desk was very kind in the evening. I checked in my luggage the next day when leaving and came back to pick it up. When i came back for my luggage, there was no one on the front desk, they kinda ignored me as long as they can and were rude when i tried to pick up my stuff. So mixed experience in customer service. If i need to come back to cleveland, i would probably prefer to stay in downtown area than independence next time. Without a car, it was quite expensive to get around. Uber rates are high in the area, very similar to regular taxi, and no pool option. read more

So much..... 1. Room was outdated & smelled funny. 2. Difficult to get clean towels On Day 4 of our visit, took 10 hours & 2 calls to front desk to finally get fresh towels. Gets even better: 3. On Day 5, a housekeeper randomly showed up in the morning while my husband & I were getting ready for the day. She opened our door & tried to enter (quite to our surprise). I asked her to please give us 10 minutes to finish dressing & then we would be on our way. She closed the door & immediately called her supervisor. Our room clean (again, on Day 5) was automatically cancelled, per my telephone discussion with the housekeeping supervisor (as I suspected as much and called her right away, being concerned that this would happen. So, there you go ... 5days & counting and still no fresh linens, no room clean & a staff that could care less. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Residence Inn in Independence for a short weekend getaway. We booked the king fireplace suite. Having stayed in other Residence Inn and Mariott properties before, we have certain expectations that weren't met on this trip. First, though, I would like to point out that we did receive very friendly and excellent customer service from Quiana, who was working the front desk. Our room was a decent size. The furniture was nice, but needing a few repairs (the valet table had a broken leg and a large white stain on top). The cleanliness was not what we have come to expect from Marriott properties - it was clear by the fur left behind that someone had stayed in the room with a dog. This doesn't bother us too much, as we have a dog that sheds like a beast. However, anyone with a problem with pet fur or allergies would have been bothered. There was noticeable fur on the decorative pillows/back of the couch. The bed linens were clean. There were a few missed hairs in the sink and the bathtub. Not the worst I've ever seen, but definitely not the best. The most offensive issue though was the odor of marijuana that permeated our room. The first night we just tried to ignore it. It was coming in either through the vents from an adjoining room, or from the room below us. Its cold out, so we couldn't really prop the door or open a window. We let it go and eventually went to bed. The second night however, was even worse. It smelled so strong that it literally smelled like someone had just smoked in our room. My husband went to the front desk and Quiana helped us again. She did offer to move our room - but we had our stuff unpacked already and were settled in, and didn't really want to pack everything back up for the last night.They did send hotel security who came to our room and smelled it - he seemed shocked by how strong it was. He immediately went and spoke with the occupants of the other room. The smell dissipated, but came back again around midnight. It was a hopeless situation and I'm not sure what else the hotel could have done about it short of calling the police. So I can't hold it against them too much. But I really wish that they had done a better job in construction so that this wouldn't have been an issue. The other down sides were: seasonal pool and hot tub, and the place is set up like a motel so you have to go outside to get to the front desk and the breakfast area. Even though the staff was great, and the room was not bad for the price...in the future I would probably look to stay elsewhere read more

It's 1:13 AM and I am writing this review on the morning of my checkout because I can't sleep. Why? Probably has something to do with the basketball game going on right outside of my room... at 1:13 AM. I'm not talking about a cool and casual game of horse, it's an all out 5 on 5, and the sound of the dribbling basketball is well contained by the rooms that surround the court. At least the players are courteous enough to not yell and scream after every score! I checked in on the Marriott mobile app, where I selected to receive a mobile key, and neither of those things happened. After checking in at the counter, I received a mobile key, but the mobile key did not work. I ended up being locked out of my room and had to go back to the check in counter to get an extra room key. We stayed in a two bedroom suite. Our room was not vacuumed well after the prior guests. If I can tell that the room wasn't vacuumed well, who knows how well the room was actually cleaned, and that's an automatic fail in my book because that fails to meet the Marriott's traditional cleanliness standards; let alone their COVID-19 standards! There were other parts of our stay that I was unhappy with, but I'll conclude my review like this. I've never given a poor review to a Marriott property, I've stayed at so many at this point I can't keep track, but this Marriott disappoints and I would not stay here again. I'd spend a few extra dollars to stay somewhere else that's clean, has no issues with toilets, the tech works, and there are no loud basketball games going on at 1:13 AM. read more

the bathroom was about the size of a porta potty with a shower. you had to step into the shower, turn around and close the door just to be able to use the toilet. there were people walking unleashed very large dogs. and halfway through the night the smoke detector fell, woke us up and was then hanging from the ceiling. the room was outdated and not kept up very well. read more

This Residence Inn was my first choice because of the expectations I have of the Marriot properties. Especially the Residence Inn properties. I have come to expect a very comfortable, modern room with a kitchen, a manager's social hour and a grill by the pool. Extra bonus points for a congenial staff. Upon check in, Simon impressed me immediately. My GPS lied to me and Simon was gracious in providing me with accurate driving instructions to the property. My flight was late, my rental car was not ready, so when I checked into the property, local stores were closed. Simon was gracious in allowing me some munchies from the hotel stock and despite the 3 hour time difference, I was just ever-so-so slightly cranky. Upon entering my room, I took pause for a moment to take in the spaciousness of the room. The king size bed was very welcoming. I admit slight disappointment in the claustrophobically small bathroom. The shower/tub was very reminiscent of an RV shower/tub. Just functional, nothing elaborate. The remainder of the room was quite vibrant with a stunning minimalist '90's décor, no chest of drawers to stow clothing and cigarette burns on the carpet. The same went for the modest TV and the 1000 watt microwave oven and 2 burner stove top. The 1/2 size refrigerator was probably the most modern appliance. Overall the kitchenette was functional, just a little cramped. Ironing board and iron? Bingo! It would be very easy to slightly critical of this particular Residence Inn. This property is slightly dated, showing a little wear in the room and around the property. After staying in many Residence Inns around the country, it is very easy to have a high expectation of what this chain has to offer. It was the staff that won me over at this property. Both Antoine and Simon did a very good job in their interactions with me. I recommend this property in the Cleveland area and would probably come back. read more

Nice place to stay. Friendly service. Only 3 stars because they need more people to help out & the breakfast buffet. Food runs out so fast that they can't restock fast enough. Rubbish gets over loaded. Also the layout in the 1 bedroom suite bathroom is so weird. When they remodeled it I don't think they measured it correctly because when you open the bathroom door you need to either step in the shower on your right or move to the far left to close the door. Please DO NOT stay here. Upon check-in everything seemed fine, when we got to our room there was garbage by our front door. In the room we were setting up my son's roll-away/crib and inside of it was a used toothpaste. As we inspected further throughout the day we found the following: - In the Tub I was about to bath by 5 year old in, we found HAIR all over the tub, from the sides, the inside, the walls. - Hair was found all around the toilet. - Black Mold was found on the vent in this bathroom - Closet door was broke - In our room, there was a pink substance splattered on the headboard, then after moving the bed a bit, I noticed this substance was spilled all over the sheets. We ended up LEAVING this hotel and re-booked at another; upon leaving the General Manager came out and became defensive as to my complaints - She stated that this is an "isolated incident". If you look at other reviews (which I didn't, because I trusted Marriott as a frequent traveler and a Gold Elite member), there are several indicating this hotel's inferiority to other properties (note the review indicating bed bugs, 4 months prior). I asked for reasonable compensation for my troubles and the overall horrendous condition of our room; she declined and offered me a resolution that was unacceptable. This hotel is in BAD shape, the people are great (sans the GM) but I would NOT stay here if you are expecting any attention to detail or a room that would make you feel as if you wanted to be in there. For the Record, I attempted to contact Marriott Customer Care to disclose my concerns and attempt to be compensated appropriately and my inquiry was ignored at the request of the hotel's GM. Please Please Please pick a different hotel, this once is terrible and clearly the GM does not care. read more

The Residence Inn building cluster prototype that this property uses may be my least favorite prototype of any hotel that I frequent. Having to move your car after check-in is a hassle and multiple blind corners are a safety nightmare. We've been staying here for years when we visit family. The hotel in our opinion has gone down a bit since we've started staying here 10 years ago. We checked a little over a week ago and have HORRIBLE problems with logging on the internet. The Marriott site does not show the normal WiFi across so we can't log on. We've talked with many managers, staff, tech support etc. they are no help and just say call Tech Support. I googled to see if this was a problem with the Marriott brand and I found they changed their internet May 1st. Not sure if they upgraded, went with a different provider..........they seem to have no information or if they do, their not commenting. We have two laptops that can only log onto an open Network. Their is no way to get on a secure network here. This will be our last time staying here. They don't even want to help. Their are plenty of other hotels and we will choose one of them next time. read more

The room was nice. It was clean and big. I'm giving it one star because of how rude the staff is. The supervisor that checked us in was the most unpleasant hotel staff member I've ever encountered. My biggest complaint... We called ahead of time to make sure dogs were ok and booked the room. It wasn't until we showed up to check in that someone told us there would be a $100 fee for the night to have the dog stay with us. Had someone told us that when we called to check and book the room we certainly would not have stayed here, but at this point we were stuck. It was just a dirty and sleazy move in my book. We stayed from 6pm Saturday until 10am Sunday and it cost us the same amount for our dog to stay in our hotel room as it did for two adults. To me, this is just a rip off. read more

Every year for the last three years, I have stayed at this Residence Inn during Twinsfest for business. Rooms are great. Kitchen provides dishes, pots and pans, and a full sized fridge and stove. There's even a dishwasher that the maid uses to wash your dishes with. The pool is a nice touch; they have a couple grills. The breakfast is iffy, but fulfilling if you're into buffets. The bathrooms are tiny, but the rest of the room is large; a sitting area that includes a sofa and armchair is roomy. Free Wifi. Not sure what else you want from this much larger than average typical hotel room just south of Cleveland, Ohio. P.S. There is a flippin SHEETZ down the street! read more

Hotel property is located near restaurants, right off the freeway. During rush hour there is heavy congestion in the area. Stayed in room 122 (2nd floor). No elevator to my room, had to take the stairs. When you have a ton of stuff with you, stairs suck. Room was clean and spacious. read more

After having stayed four times now, there are consistent issues with maintenance and overall housekeeping here. Four different rooms over many months and there is always random stray hairs in towels and on the bathroom floor. The glass doors in the shower for 1122 only will open on one side and the toilet seat moves when sitting on it. There are always spider webs and junk on the stairs leading to the rooms. always. We used the BBQ and our room had two steak knives, so sharing is caring. The meat fork actually had rust on it. Staff is always friendly. Breakfast is usually good, except on this past saturday they ran out of eggs or they were not replaced. After waiting about 20 minutes I had to leave without eating eggs. Filled up on sausage (oh my) and yogurt. read more

For the most part our family enjoyed staying at this hotel. We enjoyed having two big king beds to sleep in, which were both very clean. However, there were multiple stains all over the couch and chair in the living room. The service at the hotel was nice and they were very responsive. One of the best parts about the hotel was the location. It was a short drive to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, and not too long of a drive from Cedar Point or the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The complimentary breakfast here was just your average free breakfast, which was pretty good. I highly suggest this hotel, except make sure there are no stains on the sofa. read more

We stayed at this Residence Inn on a Friday and Saturday night. The front desk folks were nice enough at check-in and check-out, though I thought it was odd we had to sign an agreement about eviction in the case of parties. That was a first! It was nice to have the kitchen, and the bathroom and carpet were updated. TV was nice, and the room was spacious enough. Overall, it felt humid and moist though. Some of the kitchen utensils had dried food on them, and the fold out sofa mattress smelled of urine. (I just slept on the other side.) There was quite a bit of dog or cat hair on the sofa as well, and the bathroom door would not close, likely due to the humidity. Lastly, the water smelled a bit funny, not sure if that's common in this area or if it was just the hotel's water. Either way, we went to the Walgreens a couple minutes away to buy some. It did indeed seem like people were throwing some sort of party downstairs on Saturday night, but we were tired, so the noise did not really affect us ... at least, not enough to warrant evicting another guest. Overall, I probably would not stay here again. It served our purposes, but I wish I paid a little more for a cleaner experience. read more

But I only have one minor--and kind of stupid--complaint about this Residence Inn that I'll get to in a minute. Everything else was good. Big, clean, odorless, well-lit room. Comfortable bed. Decent free breakfast. Friendly front desk service. Free access to a Bally's if you don't like the on-site workout room. Not totally quiet but not unacceptably noisy. Generally a pleasant place to spend a week away from home. Here's my minor complaint: very limited TV. HBO, the networks, and a hodgepodge of second-rate channels like TNT and Lifetime. But you can see the TV from the toilet, which kind of makes up for it. read more

This property is so far below other Residence Inn's I've stayed at, I wonder how Marriott is allowing them to keep the franchise tag. It's dirty and worn. The kitchen was particularly disgusting, and though the appliances were stainless, they were not maintained and carried the fingerprints and smudges of countless prior guests. All units are accessed from the exterior, in separate buildings, and I did not feel safe. The unit next to us was having a very loud party, with folks coming and going constantly and trash everywhere on the steps and at our door. There was no apparent security on site. Breakfast was okay, but it's an outdoor hike to the main lobby. The fitted sheets were worn out and did not stay on the beds. Housekeeping came so early, and before we had used anything that we ran out of towels and amenities and made due with what we originally had upon check in for our two night stay. I'm Platinum with Marriott, so I know the brand. This one is not up to standard. read more

Very happy with this hotel. It appeared to be recently renovated so everything was nice & new and clean!! Which was a surprise based on the outside. The bathroom & kitchen were spotless and absolutely no odor (good or bad) to the room at all. Big room, flat screen tv & microwave and full size refrigerator. Kitchen area was separate from the rest of the room and I liked how the bathroom vanity & sink were separate from the shower & toilet. Parking was an issue due to the location of our room. We had to park very far away because there was only one row of spaces for 2 buildings to share! This hotel was close to everything on our to-do list and it was easy to get an über driver as well. we were very impressed with the cleanliness of this hotel!!! My husband wanted me to mention that the front desk staff was extremely rude to him upon checking in. I didn't go in with him, I was waiting in the truck since we had to drive to our room. I never went into the lobby but he was not too happy when he came back out. read more

My husband and I (from WI) needed to stay in the Cleveland area for over a week for our adoption of a newborn baby and chose the Residence Inn because of its proximity to the hospital, kitchenette in the room and laundry facilities. Our good experience started when calling to make a reservation. We needed flexibility in our timeframe (because of not knowing exactly when the baby would be born and when we could leave town), and manager Colleen Davis couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Once we arrived, the staff was friendly and helpful. We even arrived back in our room one day to find a very nice baby gift with a card signed by the staff. The bed was very comfortable and we could see that the room had undergone some recent updates. Except for a washing machine that was having some issues and a few housekeeping hiccups, we had a good experience and are glad we found this hotel to stay at for our adoption. read more
