I came here to the Hampton Inn (Independence, Ohio) purely for pleasure immediately after a week-long business trip. I stayed here for a short time while doing some sightseeing in the Cleveland area and I had a nice stay at this hotel while I was here. What was even better was that I stayed here entirely for free since a have a ton of Hilton Honors membership points. The surrounding area is quiet and peaceful, and the landscaping and grounds here are pleasant and well maintained. There are a small number of parking spaces in the front of the hotel for handicapped people and for diamond members of Hilton, and the majority of parking for their guests is on the sides and in the back of the hotel. As I checked in I was greeted by two ladies who were both professional and friendly. They greeted me kindly and gave me a key to my reserved room. Upon entering my room, I was immediately pleased. It was clean, nicely decorated, and well organized. The bed was incredibly comfortable and there was a sofa/chair in the room that reminded me of a chair you would sit in as you see your psychiatrist. Although this was a little funny, it was incredibly comfortable to sit in while watching TV. In my hotel room there was a small refrigerator, a nice TV, a hairdryer, a small/personal coffee maker, an iron and ironing board, and all the things that you would expect to see in a hotel. Unfortunately, there was no microwave in my hotel room, which was disappointing because I use a microwave daily. There is a microwave available in the lobby for their customers, but this is an inconvenient option if you use a microwave frequently. My room was quiet and enjoyable, and I felt safe during my stay. I really liked the bathroom layout as well, which was well decorated and very clean. While staying here I really enjoyed the free breakfast in the mornings, which was well-stocked with lots of good options. I was also appreciative that this hotel offers a selection of free coffee options throughout the day, which is a must for a true java-head like me. My check out was smooth. The young lady that checked me out was friendly, but I did think it was a little unprofessional to see her snacking on the free hotel breakfast while checking me out. Overall, I enjoyed my time while staying in this hotel. I would definitely stay here again. read more

On Expedia it noted that it does not have after hours check in. I called the Hampton Inn itself not the main reservation number. She was very rude and distracted or disinterested! She had me on speaker phone and i could hear here moving stuff around. Several times i had to ask if she could hear me because she was not responding. She stated checkin was until 12. Advised I would be getting there sometime between 11:45pm- 12:15am. She stared"well checkin stops at 12. She would not allow us to check in even if a few minutes late even though other Hampton's allow it if you call. read more

For a Hampton inn that charges $189 plus taxes and fees I would expect a lot more. The rooms are very basic and a little old looking. I feel like my room was barely cleaned before we checked in. Plenty of pillows & beds seem Comfy. and I was happy to have an appropriate amount of towels in my room. Feel the room is s little cleaner after the first night. We have stayed at Hampton Inns for the past 2+ decades, and I have started to become disillusioned with them. Our room was a King bed ... but there almost wasn't room for two people to navigate around the room at the same time it was so small. There was only one chair, so one of us had to sit on the bed. In all fairness, the staff was polite, the room was clean and neat. It just wasn't what we have come to expect from Hampton Inn. We may need to rethink this. read more

This is by far THE worst experience I have ever had a Hampton Inn. So much so that I emailed the company to complain. Half of the staff was nice - really nice - and the other half was incompetent! Half of the staff followed the protocol and rules and the other did not. Which is the WORST thing to do at a hotel because it makes for angry guests. First off the lobby was nice. The guy who checked us in, Kyle, nice. We get to our room and there was a huge toe nail on our carpet which means it wasn't vacuumed. And that toe nail remained there the entire trip. One day they completely skipped cleaning our room. I don't know why. The vending machines were always out of what I wanted and I literally traveled to each one on each floor before one of them ate my quarters. The maintenance man was very nice. He helped me get extra towels and toilet paper that we never got because our room was never cleaned. The shower head also broke. The breakfast was good. One plus side. We also left something behind and called immediately the next day and got a response that was they would check when they could and called back a few days later only after we emailed the company complaining. Oh and on our last day the hotel didn't have hot water and didn't even call the rooms to inform us. We had to find out the hard way! Meaning freezing showers. Our friends we were staying with called the front desk and then informed us that oh yeah the whole hotel doesn't have hot water. But they did nothing to compensate us for that. After talking to the company they then got in contact with the hotel and we finally had such compensation for the awful experience. It's such a shame this one was so bad because overall we love hamptons and were so excited to be staying at another one and even thinking of joining their loyalty program! Hopefully if you stay here your experience is more pleasant. For us it was just one problem and incident after the other. read more

Dirty vents in rooms- smelled like stale cigarettes when we walked in. Bathroom floor dirty. Probably wouldn't stay there again.

We would not return to this hotel. 1. They claim to provide breakfast. All they give you is a small box with a 2 ounce mini-bagel, tiny 4 ounce peach yogurt, and two overcooked inedible hard boiled eggs. No milk available for kids. 2. The bathroom sink was clogged. Despite twice contacting the front desk, they never fixed it. I don't think that they have any maintenance staff available on weekends. According to the front desk staff: Mainenance comes in late on weekends. (This was said in the afternoon1) 3. Although the bathroom air vent is at eye level, avoid looking at it. It is gross! my husband and I were laying in our beds having a conversation. the rooms have absolutely no insulation all noises everything could be heard. front desk called at 8:55 pm and said we had a complaint we were too loud. mind you we are in the beds talking to one another not screaming , talking. told me we had to quiet down or be kicked out. so told me we couldn't even talk in our room cause that's all we were doing. we are a pair of handicapped 50+ year olds. so we weren't partying or being rowdy. I do have a bit of a hearing problem but I still wasn't being very loud. we were not doing anything but having a conversation. we were in bed so maybe peole on other side was in there bed against the wall? I had a headache so even tv was down low. I have never been treated so rudely before. I'm upset and cried for an hour over this. my blood pressure went up. supposed to be a one night stay cause my disabled vet husband had to have a medical procedure done. if this is how gold status members are treated I would hate to see how regular people who don't have any loyalty to Hilton brand hotels are treated, im rethinking my choice of hotel brands. wonder if Hyatt or Marriott would treat people so horribly. read more

Stayed here for a quick overnight stay in Cleveland. Well, we were in town for an Indians game and didnt want to stay in downtown Cleveland all because of a previous bad experience with a hotel earlier in the summer. We arrived 2 hours early to check in and Erika at the front desk was pleasant and allowed us to check in early. We made it to our room and it was very cozy. We had a king sized bed with the jacuzzi tub in our bathroom. The room overall was what we needed and the bed was very comfortable!!! We went down for breakfast the next morning and had a wide variety of food to choose from. I went straight for the coffee to help me wake up. Highly recommend staying at this location!! read more

This Hampton inn is just like any other Hampton inn that I have stayed at. Pretty nice for a chain hotel. But this one in particular had some pros and cons. Pros- good breakfast and recently remodeled breakfast/lobby area. He staff is very welcoming and friendly. There is a fairly large outdoor pool, which is nice. Most hotels have smaller indoor pools. Cons- the rooms seem a little outdated. The carpet seems a little warn out, the mattress was in need of replacement, and the wallpaper was starting to peel in certain spots. I would probably stay here again, but only if they did a little remodeling. Even just replacing the mattresses and furniture, putting in some new carpet, and replacing the wallpaper would make this place a nicer hotel. But even as it is, it isn't so bad. read more

Love this hotel brand. This location had a huge business population during my visit so it was quiet when I personally needed it to be. They had a happy hour set up in the lobby. Cheese, crackers, fruit, cookies and wine. They also had appetizers. The staff was very friendly. The property was beautiful, immaculate and had common areas where you could sit and talk, get work done or wait for someone. The room was very cozy. Big beds, nice pillows and the bathroom was very nice. The property had a nice balance of seclusion and being close to everything. Plenty of restaurants within 2 miles and the highway taking you into Cleveland was very close. I would stay here for business or pleasure. They never disappoint. The breakfast was outstanding. Clean area and fresh food is always a winner. They are job traditional at time and I love it. Omelets, Turkey sausage and their pastries are always delicious. Checking in and out is always a breeze so I highly recommend this brand of hotels in all cities. read more

Wasn't told how to access wifi - Luckily we figured it out without having to talk to the woman at the front...who could not speak english. When asked if they had breakfast, because all I saw was grain bars, and bagged muffins, I got the response, as if she was annoyed to be asked any questions at all; "Ye it bat deh." Didn't know what that meant, so I asked "What was that?" "It bat deh. It da codaby breh'fit. It bat deh." I wasn't sure if she said "Dat da 'conomy breh'fit" or "Dat da condiment breh'fit." Okay, McDonalds it is. What an unprofessional bunch. The woman who is at the front, representing this business, can't even communicate with humans LOL. Other than that, their entire stock in the lobby was out. If you like being woken up at all hours of the night by "thugs" who've been drinking/doing drugs all night - This is your place to stay! I had a great experience of this Hampton Inn. The buffet breakfast is included, the happy hour wine that's also included, but I definitely had something a little "extra mile" included this time. I traveled and forgot my razor, when I called the front desk, Kyle answered and offered to bring me up a razor and some shaving cream. Saved the day for me, as I can't look shaggy going into tomorrow. I offered to tip him, he politely refused saying, "no thank you, it's just part of our service." I didn't offer him a second chance, off the record, to take my tip for saving the day. He looked at it, smiled at me, and said "no thank you sir, it's just part of what we do for our guests." Not as nice as other Hampton's I've visited, but still good for a quick stay. The biggest problem I had was that the carpet didn't seem fresh. Usually you judge how a clean a hotel is by how much you worry about putting your bare feet on the floor, and when I set my feet on this carpet it didn't feel right. The other annoyance was that the internet (although free as always) was very slow. My wireless usually doesn't have a problem at Hamptons but even with the complimentary router they had me try, it did not improve. Aside from those issues, the bathroom was clean, the bed and linens were comfy, and the room itself was spacious. The complimentary breakfasts are never awesome, but it was good enough to get me going in the morning. The staff is friendly as always. read more

I prefer to stay at this hotel when traveling for business purposes. The hotel is a little outdated however they have a few options for the rooms. You can stay in a room with a whirlpool tub, one without, then some of their rooms have a living section and the whirlpool tub. They offer a social hour in the evenings and breakfast for free in the mornings. They also have free wifi, and flat screen TVs. The front desk staff is very helpful! They have free printing services even though the computer is super slow. read more

Stayed in 4 Hampton inn Independence Ohio June 29. Since 2 flights were late, got to hotel at 2:30 am. Room seemed clean but opened closet to get luggage rack, no luggage rack. Ironing board hanging in closet (which I did need to use in morning) the pad was on the floor and cover barely hanging on. Toilet seat was barely attached too. On top of that main deadbolt on door didn't latch. Left note to manager and week and a half later - nonresponse. Plus checked my Diamond status and they haven't even credited my account for that night. Hampton is really slipping. VERY POOR SHOWING AND PROPERTY. read more

Truthfully, it was kinda a weird place. The blonde lady at the front desk seemed medicated and off kilter. I stay at Hamptons all the time, the elderly lady at the breakfast area, was gathering up everything by 9am. You had to ask her for condiments. She never smiled or greeted anyone. This is a good location if you're visiting cleveland but don't want to stay directly in the city. It's about a 12 min drive to downtown. Check in was easy, the hotel seemed up to date. My room was nice and cold when I walked in and the bed was clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that the wifi was so very slow. They do have a nice little cantina there for snacks and such. I would never return to a hotel that uses scented Febreeze in their rooms. It's thoughtless and stupid. It's offensive and unacceptable. I requested one without before arriving but it didn't show up in their system. In any case there's no proof that even if it wasn't offensive that it's safe for me to breathe. Why would anyone want to taste this in their mouth? I have nearly 1000 stays with Hilton. This rarely happens but has happened more lately than ever. First off I waited three days before writing this review to see if anyone from this hotel or the company would contact us. Nope. Nothing. I would give this location zero stars if that were possible. My wife and I made reservations to enjoy an overnight stay then a day trip to Cleveland to visit area museums. I checked in and was assigned our room. When we got to the room it had not been cleaned. There were towels on the floor, coffee cups on the counter etc. At first we were afraid the room was still occupied. We closed the door and I went back to the desk clerk and informed her of the situation. She apologized and assured me the room was not occupied. She assigned us another room on the opposite side of the hotel. We hauled our stuff back to the car drove to the other side and went to the second room. When we opened the door it sounded like the shower was on we could hear noises and could see the bed was not made. AGAIN either the room was still occupied or had not been cleaned. Went back to the front desk again and was assured that the room was not occupied. At this point I was frustrated with the situation and the desk clerk and returned to the room to take a video of the conditions. The TV was on (noises we heard). The room was not occupied but had not been cleaned. I was told by the desk clerk that they had one more available room but at this point we refused and cancelled the reservation. I want to be fair to the desk clerk, Michelle, she does not clean the rooms and could not leave the desk. But I have to seriously question how well these rooms are cleaned when guests leave. What policies and procedures does Hampton Inn have in place to guarantee the the linens are changed, bathroom surfaces are cleaned and sanitized etc. when we were assigned to TWO rooms that had not been cleaned. Michele told me that she had called her general manager after I had reported the issue with the first room but as I said at the beginning we have not been contacted by anyone. I made the switch from Marriott to Hilton earlier this year. Since my first Hilton stay in the end of April, I have stayed 23 nights reaching their 'Gold' Elite Status in a short time. I utilize the Business Center quite a bit as this is my office on the road. This property had locks on the guest computers blocking the USB ports. Once before I had this issue. However unlike the first time when the desk clerk agreed to take my stick and print from their computer behind the counter, this Hampton in refused! How can a "Business Hotel" refuse such a basic amenity to their most valued travelers? How can the other 20+ Hamptons allow printing and this one refuse. I'll head next door to the Fairfield to get my print, and stay there on my next trip to Cleveland! read more

I stayed at the hotel for four nights and had a great experience. Lori and Cheryl at the front desk were both very helpful and pleasant. The hotel and rooms were very clean. The breakfast buffet was good, better then I've had at other hotels. The complimentary coffee with Coffeemate creamer was appreciated. One night we were there, there was a reception from 5-7 with wine, cheese, crackers and chicken wings which was nice. It was only during Wednesday night, so I am not sure how often they do the reception, but I thought it was nice. I mean free wine? Sure! We did use the washer and dryer and the front desk made change for me. I never felt like I was a bother to the front desk and they were always so helpful. Great experience. read more

Came here because AAA got me a good rate while I was in the Cleveland area. This is a very nice and clean hotel to stay at for the price. The room was large with a jacuzi tub in the room. Everything was clean in the room nothing gross or anything that would make me cringe. The room was always clean The complimentary breakfast was not much to write home about but it saves you money. read more

We were on the first leg of a trip and this is where we stopped to see if they had rooms available.we were able to get a room with a whirlpool for about 150.00. The room was very comfortable and we slept well. The wireless worked as promised and the choices at breakfast were great!! I've stayed in some very nice Hampton Inns before, but this was terrible. Room was not very clean, there was wallpaper hanging off the wall and large stains on the wall. About ever 15 minutes throughout the night there was something that sounded like a drill or air compressor going off, which meant no sleep.bi still do not know what it was, because we weren't by an elevator. They hotel staff was always congregating outside our door as well, which meant we heard them a lot, or had a hard time maneuvering around their cleaning carts that they didn't move out of the way to let us through. read more
