I'm disappointed in the price, quality and lack of cleanliness of this place. We have stayed at Marriotts/Bonvoy related hotels all over the world, and this is the first place I've stayed that was really bad. The room looked like it had not been mopped before we arrived and I asked them to clean it, the toilet and sinks that still had hairs in them. They said they would, gave us new towels the next day, but the floor was still filthy. Considering Danville VA is sort of remote, we can only assume the high price for basically a dirty motel room with cheap uncomfortable furniture was excessive. We will not be back despite having family very close in the area. read more

I stayed at the Courtyard Danville Va on January 18, 2025, to go to the new casino, and I was pleased with the location of the hotel, very close to the casino, and the room was very nice! But what made my stay super enjoyable was Reco and the other gentleman working the bar and kitchen! They both were super courteous and pleasant to talk to, and Reco made the best damn Flatbread that I have ever had! I mean, he had the seasonings on point, the crispiness of the crust, and it was just fresh and tasty! I will return to Danville again for the casino, but trust and believe, I will be having some of Reco's flatbread! read more

Was in Danville to bring my stepfathers ashes to their final resting place. The morning of his service, my mother and I took our bags to the car and left several other items, including the boxed up Urn in the room as we did not want to have to carry other items while moving the urn. While visiting with my stepsisters and the rest of the family (9 a.m., well before check out time), the office called my mother to tell her we left a package in the room ( we where in the lobby directly infront of reception) This instantly created an atmosphere of panic, worry, and violation. The Ashes were at the front desk upside down. They box was labeled with the contents to boot. The manager showed no sympathy, and the reception acted angry AT US because we were upset and it "wasn't her fault." The manager made a point to boast of being in the hotel industry for 17 years and that it is normal for housekeeping to knock 3 times and then blindly enter a room and take possession guests' property. He there after admitted that his staff did not follow policy as they should have called down to verify we had checked out before removing personal belongs. The negligence of the manager and staff is unacceptable. I can't stop thinking about the possibility that the ashes could have been dropped or discarded. No sympathy or sincerity from anyone at the hotel in the least. read more

Very nice Marriott property in Danville! It was clean and the staff was friendly. We had a one room suite, and while the bed was a little soft, the room was well appointed. The main room has a nice sized kitchenette type area with a sink, microwave and fridge. There was a smaller fridge in the bedroom as well. The bathroom was good sized and the water pressure in the shower was on point. I would definitely stay here when in the area again with family or on business. read more

I've stayed at this hotel three times in the last year on business trips and I've enjoyed my stay each time! Pros: The staff has consistently been friendly and helpful. My rooms have always been very clean and quiet and the provided toiletries are of actual quality. I also appreciate that the room comes with both a mini fridge and microwave - so many standard rooms at hotels do not offer either, but it's so convenient and I almost always end up using both! Lastly, I think the in-house Bistro is yummy. I particularly like the brussels sprouts! Usually bar and food prices in hotels are exorbitant but I found the food and alcohol very reasonably priced. Gripes: These are very minor complaints - if I could give this place a 4.5 I would! First, I have had issues with the in-room tv every time I've stayed. Some of the standard channels don't come in clearly or don't connect at all. I typically end up using the decent wifi to stream something on my computer instead. Second, I wish they offered complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby. The free in-room coffee is terrible and hate that I have to buy Starbucks coffee to get my morning fix. read more

In general, I really like Marriott Courtyards that have been renovated, but this Marriott Courtyard has a problem with all the wrong details. Pros: + If you have status, the chocolates are pretty good that they give you on check in. + Really nice room size, complete with couch, flat screen, and fridge. + Even being across from the ice maker and near the elevator my room is quiet! Impressive! +Balcony... overlooking... the school? What is that building? Cons: - Let's talk details, this place drops the ball on the details. - Maid left me cleaning supplies. Hers. I'm not that messy! - The fridge is leaky, and jumps between warm and frozen. - The shower head ring has separated from the wall as though it broke off shattering the tiles underneath. - The sink fills with in seconds of starting it. You can help unclog it using the drain stopper as a plunger. The maid should have noticed and reported this. - When I sit on the toilet, it moves. I'm not that big! - Sometimes the toilet flushes itself. - The couch has what looks suspiciously like a cigarette burn. The list goes on and on and on. Details matter, and the details here are all wrong. The only thing keeping this hotel from slipping to 2 stars is the lack of competition. All in all, not one of the better courtyards. read more

We visit this location often. It has degraded significantly over the past year. The Bistro in the lobby is now terrible. Waiting 45 minutes to get a soggy sandwich and no opportunity to drown my sorrows because their bar is out off booze. read more

We enjoyed our stay here! The rooms were very clean and the staff was top notch! I can say from other hotels in the area this is your best bet. They have a bistro with food and beer can't remember the hours, but the best part is after a meeting or long drive grab a cocktail and relax here or take it to your room. If you're a huge fan of having the front desk clerk act as though he doesn't understand anyone with an accent while simultaneously hitting on the females on your party, has this Courtyard Marriott got a warm reception for you! I was traveling with colleagues visiting from Mexico who speak English very, very well. Either Tim at the front desk hates anyone not from the USA, or he was just mad that their checking in interrupted his viewing of Wheel Of Fortune. Either way, his interaction with them and, frankly, all humans in our group was embarrassing. After telling them he didn't understand what they were saying ("I am here to check in" and "what is the wifi password" in better English than most people even from here) he turned to tell a female in our group that she was very beautiful in a hushed tone. Completely unprofessional. The hotel rooms were fine. Everyone else at this Courtyard that I encountered was helpful, courteous and profession. read more

AVOID! Not enforcing Virginia's and Marriott's requirement for face coverings. I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Danville, Virginia for a few nights during the week of January 18, 2021, to attend my mother's graveside memorial service. I had stayed at a Springhill Marriott hotel in Durham, NC a week prior during my mother's hospital stay at Duke University Hospital. I was impressed by the COVID-19 safety measures at the Springhill Marriott Durham. Based on the COVID-19 requirements posted on the corporate Marriott website, I believed that all Marriott hotels were required to adhere to the same practices as well as comply with CDC guidelines and state laws related to COVID-19. I was shocked that the Danville Marriott was not enforcing the face-covering requirement although a sign was posted in the hotel lobby stating that face coverings were required. When I complained about a maskless guest in line in front of me, I was accosted by the guest who came within inches of my face, seemingly intoxicated, yelling and screaming at me with no mask. The front desk clerk stood silently as she witnessed the encounter, without making any attempt to request that the guest put on a mask. The next morning I spoke to the onsite manager to ask why the hotel was not enforcing Marriott's and Virginia's face covering requirements. The manager stated that it was not an actual law. I showed her Executive Order 72 issued by Governor Northam stating that face coverings were required in all public facilities. I subsequently received an email from an assistant manager stating that she was informed by the local health department that the face-covering order issued by Virginia's governor is not a law. The COVID-19 positivity rate in the Danville, Pittsylvania, and Martinsville, Henry County area is approximately 20%, or 1 out of 5. I have lost four family members in the area to COVID. After my stay at this Marriott, I now understand why the rate is so extraordinarily high, and I would not recommend that anyone stay at this hotel if they are concerned about strict adherence to Marriott's posted COVID-19 safety measures. I fear that I may have been potentially exposed to COVID due to the guest who accosted me at the hotel and am making an appointment for a COVID test today. I have a video of the encounter with the guest as evidence of the hotel's noncompliance with face-covering requirements. read more

Bring a pair of nitrile gloves to wear when using the TV remote! We stayed at this Marriott property for one night, 9/21/22. We are a long-time Marriott customers and were extremely disappointed. We used a package of disinfecting wipes to clean the TV remote. The wipes were literally "black" with filth. We had to ask ourselves, what else was not being cleaned? Additionally, the air conditioning in this particular room was not working properly. The room was damp and "clamy". The towels were damp and the tile floor in the bathroom was damp. The "window" style air conditioning unit was obviously not capable of removing moisture from the air due to poor maintenance or broken components. Our son and grandchildren live in Danville and we visit frequently. We will be choosing another hotel for future stays. read more

Starting with the front desk Tracy and Diamond were great, they helped with anything I needed, and Tracy has always been the best. She has been with this particular Marriott for a few years, and every time I stay with them, she does her best at accommodating my needs. Domestic Engineers, Jackie is great, she is so good at communicating with the guests and helping with anything possible. Also, Samantha was great too; she is the supervisor of the Domestic Department. The restaurant Stacy, Bridget, Samantha, and John were very helpful and accommodating. If it's not on the menu, they do their best to make it unique for you. There was one slight hick-up, and that was a young woman in the restaurant, she is a person of color (name uncertain), but she has blonde hair. There was one evening I had planned to have dinner, and she had friends sitting at one of the booths, and she was sitting down with them along with having her feet propped up on a chair. The reason I decided to go outside of the hotel for dinner was strictly that she was socializing with friends and didn't appear to be working and it was a bit intimidating. However, this was a great visit, and I plan to return sometime in January of 2018. read more

Check in was pleasant. I couldn't check in online with my app though which was unusual. Got a 3td floor room but no upgrade. That was ok. The door to the bathroom kept opening into the shower. There is no water in the lobby or at the front desk. I was told "nope, you have to buy it in the market". Come on Marriott! It's the little things that make customers happy. I'll try out the Hampton Inn next time. I've stayed here several times and for some reason this time it felt different. read more

The Courtyard Marriott in Danville, VA was clean and the staff is friendly. We had a king single on the third floor. The bistro was outstanding and staffed with knowledgable people. We have stayed at this property a few years ago... when it was newer. The mattresses are now very soft (partially due to Marriott's selection of mattress and partially because they should have been changed, very worn). The bathroom while large is also dated and has not been upgraded. The cost of the room was quite a bit considering the building and rooms have not been upgraded. The staff, the cleanliness, and bistro would be reasons to return. read more

With this hotel being a part of Marriott, I expected better. I stayed in a room with a king bed and couch. First complaint: One of the tiniest hotel rooms I've ever been in. Secondly, the room reeked of cigarette smoke. Next, there isn't a microwave in the room (ummm, this is a hotel isn't it?). Last but certainly not least, the shower operates on either hot or cold...grrr. All this was experienced within the first two hours of stay. I'm wondering how optimistic I should be for breakfast in the morning? read more

My room had dirty glass half filled with water, pull out couch left open, used soap in the shower, and no hot water in the shower. They promptly sent someone to fix the shower, but the end result was barely lukewarm water. My room layout was terrible too. The bed is on a 90 degree angle to the TV. The power outlets next to the bed are non usable. read more

I am a loyal marriott rewards member and don't ever complain, but this Danville location needs some improvement. My room smelled like wet, musty carpeting. I also received an unrequested automated call at 4:15 in the morning that woke me up reminding me to "Be sure to try their fresh Starbucks coffee in the cafe." Im not sure which management position thought it was a good idea to send an automated call that early in the morning. I will not be choosing this Courtyard location to stay at for further business trips. read more
