I had a really nice say. The rooms were nice and clean. The view was OK. I really love the room how it's laid out. I slept on the couch bed. It was a little bit uncomfortable, but it was OK. My friend slept on the big bed. They says it was super comfy. I really like the bathroom. It's really nice and clean. The pool was an OK size. There was no continental breakfast, but there was a Starbucks in the hotel. And that was really nice. The hotel lobby was nice and fancy. I would go back there again. Really disappointed w our room; never complained to the staff (who were very friendly), as we were coming and going a lot, and pretty exhausted--being in town for a funeral. So, perhaps we'd have been offered a better room, perhaps not. Who knows. Our room had a toilet that ran and made this shrieking/whining noise any time we flushed it, or when our neighbors flushed their toilets. Our sink didn't drain properly, so it was gross to brush teeth or wash hands, sink the sink was full of dirty water. Anything we tried to watch on TV caused the screen to jump and freeze and fuzz out; I tried multiple channels. Seems like this building and amenities need an update. Appreciated that there are two restaurants within walking distance (Outback and Cracker Barrel), but I'd skip out on staying here again. read more

It took 3 tries to end up in a room that was clean AND had working air conditioning. The Bistro only opened on one morning during our entire week long stay even though each day the front desk said it would be open the next day. They housekeeping in the common areas and hallways left much to be desired. Housekeeping collected trash from rooms of people who checked out and then piled it in large bags in the ice machine rooms and hallways. The trash stayed overnight. Second floor ice machine was never in working condition. Not what we expected of a Marriott property. We are at another Courtyard in Ohio this week and it is clean, well staffed and a night and day difference! read more

We loved the hotel . More importantly we loved the staff . From check in until late check out the staff was so accommodating and caring . They all went out of their way to make sure we had everything to feel at home . Great location and extremely clean . Nice little bar on property for happy hour or late night libations . ***Again the staff was what made all the difference in the world . Extremely kind and professional . Manager works employees into the ground. Schedule you from 5pm until 11 pm and want you back in at 6 am until 10 am and your paycheck does not reflect these hours. Also has employers who work in kitchen wearing flannel long sleeve shirts year round and it is very hot in kitchen. Manager and regional managers are jerks. read more

Excellent quiet location in Brighton. Easy access to I 96. The facility is well maintained. Price Gouging for Michigan Football games is a huge recent drawback. I have been staying here since the place opened for various family functions. The family atmosphere of the staff changed with new management. Time marches on. CLEAN. I stayed at the Courtyard Detroit Brighton this past weekend. We had several issues with our stay. I called this morning to speak with the manager, who only made me more angry with this whole situation. We were staying at the hotel for a friend's wedding. My wife was in the wedding party. The bride had asked about early check in to their bridal suite. And the sales rep told her no problem, any time she needed it. Well when it came to their wedding day the suite was not available early. The only person in the bridal party who could get their room early was my wife. So the entire bridal party was jammed into our room to get ready. I arrived at the hotel at 3:30 to catch the last wedding shuttle at 4. When I arrived there were dozens of guests in the lobby because none of the rooms were cleaned and ready. We had over a dozen people getting changed and ready in our room again. And we did not have our room to ourselves until well after midnight when everyone could collect all their belongings after the wedding. Yet another issue is that the bride and groom picked this hotel because it was listed that the bar is open until 2 am. They asked the sales rep about this and they said absolutely. But the rep never told them that they had to request for a bartender to stay in order to have the bar open late. So their plan was to use a late bar after the rehearsal dinner and again after the wedding. They could not because the rep never communicated between them and the hotel that is something they wanted. So I called to talk to a manager about these issues this morning. First of all, when I mentioned the bar issue the man who identified himself as the manager told me that I was mistaken. I said I had talked to the bride directly. And he said well the bride is wrong, our sales staff has been doing this a long time and would not make a mistake like that. Number one rule about weddings.. you NEVER say the bride is wrong. He could have said he would look into it, but instead directly told me that they are wrong. He said he would look into the check in issues. And I said well what does that mean for me. He told me that I had no obligation to allow people to use our room to get ready. I laughed and said wait, so we were supposed to tell the bride and her wedding guest they could not use our room and instead to get ready in the lobby? He said yes, if you did not want dozens of people using your room. The staff the day of the wedding was rude and not empathetic. And my interactions with the man who identified himself as a manager were even worse. And their general manager doubled down and emailed me and told me that the bride is wrong and they did not correctly request a bar. While ignoring all of my other issues. My wife and I got married within the last year. We used the Troy Marriott for our wedding. Our experience was fantastic. But with all of the issues I have seen from this I do not think I will ever be able to recommend a Marriott again. read more

Just recently hosted a 2 day conference at the Detroit Brighton Courtyard by Marriott. They did a FANTASTIC job accommodating our group. The staff was extremely helpful, kind and willing to help in any way they could. Considering the site is under construction, the facilities were clean and respectful of not working around the conference room as to not impact our activities. I have stayed at this hotel many many times and it was mostly a pleasant stay. The stuff is friendly and the rooms are clean. They have internet in the room (not that fast but its okay) and I love their new interier style/colors in the front - they changed it lately (end of 2011). They also have fitness room that is small with only about 4 machines (3 of them the same) and swimming pool. I love that they have Sturbucks up front, so I can have fresh latte/coffee anytime. I only had some trouble with cleaning lady - one of them slipped the note under door that she honors my request to be not disturbed.. but the sign was not on, I actually waited for housekeeping.. And the other issue was when I put a sign "Do not Disturb" and the maintenance guy just came inside the room, to fix something.. while I was sleeping. The price for this hotel is pretty good and they have 2 restaurants right next to. Nice one: Outback Steakhouse - Yummy food but little pricy. Bad one: Cracker Barrel - horrible food (except one dish - Tilapia). read more

My family and I stayed here over a quick weekend trip visiting relatives. We took up 3 different rooms on the same floor. Every room was nicely decorated and I could tell that the hotel was recently updated. The beds were comfortable and the furniture was modern- there's an oval shaped couch in each room that looks like it pulls out into a single bed (I could be wrong but when I peeked under the couch cushion, it looked surprisingly like a fold out). What I really appreciated was the service and responsiveness of the staff. There was another rather rowdy group of teenagers staying in a few rooms on the same floor as us and were running to each other's rooms toward the middle of the night, slamming doors and being loud. (I mean who can blame them, it's an exciting time to have a big overnight with all of your adolescent pals) but it was a little disturbing to the rest of us. My sister (who has a 2 year old who was trying to sleep at midnight) called the front desk to ask if someone could possibly intervene - and they politely and professionally handled the situation without putting a damper on the fun. Lastly, my dad left a pair of really nice shoes at the hotel in our rush to check out- they were expensive orthopedic shoes and specially fitted for his feet- and I called the hotel that evening after we had left the state and they quickly located his shoes in lost and found and offered to ship them home first thing in the morning. He received them within a week. Other perks of course are the 24/7 Starbucks in the lobby and an Outback in walking distance (provided you have an hour wait for dinner, like we did, it's nice to have the option of letting half the group return to the hotel to wait.) Overall I think the service was great and it was a very comfy hotel- would recommend and stay there again. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Detroit Brighton from 4/25-4/26 (checked out on 4/26 at approx 11:25am EST). During my stay, none of the employees were wearing masks. Even during my checkout, neither the front desk associate (with a name tag that said something to the effect of "sales coordinator") nor the general manager, Kevin Zaborowski, were wearing masks. I approached the front desk to ask for a manager. Kevin Zaborowski, General Manager, approached the desk shortly after. I told him that none of the employees had been wearing masks through the entirety of our stay and pointed out the sign that said "Face Coverings are Required to wear in all public areas". He said that he is not requiring anyone to wear face coverings, whether they are an employee or guests. And when I asked "Then why is the sign up?" He replied "Why not?" in a flippant manner. I responded with "well, if masks are not required, why have a sign on the front desk saying masks are required?" He then said "why do you care?" I said "because I have high risk people in my family, and the employees here are not wearing masks as directed by the sign." Then I asked if Marriott was requiring face coverings (they are-- I reached out to Marriott myself to confirm). He told me Marriott does not require face coverings. He then proceeded to ask me-- if I have high risk people in my family, why stay at a hotel? Like I just got up and decided to take a nice vacation at the Courtyard Marriott in Brighton, Michigan And then he told me if I had I problem with his employees not wearing masks, then I could leave. And if I didn't leave, he would call the cops on me (for reference, I am a person of color). I asked if he could give me the contact information for his manager, he lied said that he didn't have a manager, and that he only reported to Marriott. I asked for a signed written statement from him stating that masks are not required so that I can provide this to Marriott, and he refused (and became notably shaky because he was blatantly lying) and continued to tell me to get out or he would call the cops. So I took his card, called Marriott, and found that he lied about not having a manager and reporting directly to Marriott. Since I see others have experienced the lack of covid compliance at this hotel-- here is who to contact just in case the manager refuses to provide you with this information (like he did with me). First, call Marriott corporate and file a complaint. Here is the number: 1 (301) 380-3000. The General Manager's name at this property is Kevin Zaborowski. Second, call Concord Hotels and make a complaint. This is the franchise company that owns this hotel. Kevin refused to provide me with this information and lied-- saying he reported directly to Marriott. So just in case he does the same to anyone else, here is the number to Concord Hotel Enterprises. (919) 455-2900. They should be able to provide you with the contact information for his manager that he claims he doesn't have. His manager's name is David Lockard. I spoke to him, he's a very nice guy and was so shocked and incredibly sorry for Kevin's behavior. Overall HORRIBLE experience. I've never experienced such disrespect at a hospitality establishment in my entire life. Not only was their complete disregard for the health of associates or guests, but the manager threatened to call the cops on me when asked why they weren't wearing masks. It's hilarious because this guy has no idea who I am or what I do lol. Moral of the story is, treat every one with respect. You never know who is watching, who that person is, or who that person knows. So Yea-- avoid this place. Although I'm sure Kevin won't be there much longer. read more

Best part about this hotel is that it is next door to Outback. Being this close to outback makes your room smell so good!! The staff were very nice, and very helpful with ordering pizza and location business near by. The room was small, but it was top of the line with bed and TV quality! I will agree with Kymberlei's review in only one respect: the best part about this hotel IS that it is next door to Outback. This is also the ONLY good part about this hotel. Aside from a useless manager who does not respond to customer complaints and a lying night clerk, the remainder of the staff oscillated between keeping their heads down and doing their jobs in a lackadaisical manner, and goofing off when they thought no one was looking. (Here's looking at you, Sunday day clerk.) After my first night's stay when I found that my baggage had been disturbed by the maid, I kept my valuables in the trunk of my car. (Leaving a tell-tale amongst one's baggage is a hallmark of the novice intelligence agent, and if one stays a lot in mediocre hotels such as the Marriott Courtyard chain where I have had items stolen before, the experienced traveler.) There was no free breakfast as had been advertised (instead a for-charge morning restaurant is set up in the lobby), the entire front area smells strongly of chlorine (and the pool itself reeks so badly that I would not put a toe in it for fear of having it seared off), and last but not least, the room I stayed in was in dire need of refurbishment. I thought about taking digital camera photos of the mold on the ceiling and the peeling wallpaper edges, but decided not to bother as I would not be staying at this Courtyard ever again. Note that putting a flat-screen TV that looks like it snuck away from the display rack at WalMart on a low set of dresser drawers means that a guest lying in bed cannot see the bottom third of the screen. It also wobbled when I walked past it. I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to either a business traveler who wants their hotel to fade into the background of their stay, or family travelers who do not want to baste their kids in what smelled like hazardous waste. read more

I stay here every time I am in town visiting family. Rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast (when you want to pay for it) is fine, location is convenient to Brighton and interstate and restaurants. Staff is accommodating and friendly. Free WI-FI in the lobby, free internet in the rooms (with hook up) and lobby is undergoing remodel this summer. My only complaint is the indoor pool is unheated and very small, and they took out the hot tub. But I will continue to stay here until something better comes along. read more

Terrible hotel. Rude staff and unempathetic management. My friend booked a wedding block for her wedding. None of the rooms were ready on time. People had to jam into our room to get ready, including the bridal party. The hotel advertised that they offered a bar until 2 am, and my friend told the sales staff she booked for this reason. The sales staff did not request the bar be kept open late and said my friend was told she needed to request it and failed to do so. Find a different hotel. The most rude staff I have ever dealt with. read more

This is my second time here in the last 3 years and the second experience was as bad as the first. The rooms are incredibly musty and the AC condensers are filthy, full of build up from the condensation. We then attempted to turn of the AC and turn on the heat to dry out the room - the heat smelled like burning rubber, we had to quickly open the windows. Carpet is moist too! We were offered another room but same issue. The building is very old. The made an attempt to update it by butting new paint in the walls. Unfortunately paint/ cosmetics done not make a stay more comfortable. read more

Wow - for about $100/night, the same price you'd pay for the Best Western in Whitmore Lake, you get so much more at the Brighton Courtyard. Outback and Cracker Barrel are right next door, there's a bistro in the lobby that's open until 10pm, and they have a brilliant 24 hour coffee service/convenience store that's staffed by the front desk attendant. Why doesn't every hotel in America do this? The front desk person is there all night anyway, why not have them on-call to prepare coffee or sell convenience store items 24/7? These guys do! Check-in is super fast, the rooms include free WIFI, a large TV, coffee maker, hair dryer. iron and ironing board, and are extremely clean. read more

Rooms just Okay. If we had to do it again, We probably wouldn't stay here. Most of the rooms seem to adjoin other rooms, IE: there is a door between both. My wife is not comfortable with this, and to be honest neither am I. Rooms like these are meant for travelers with children. The adults stay in one room and the kids in the adjoining room. Our experience was listening to the old guy in the next room talk so loud on his phone, it was as if he was in our room. We requested to be moved and the hotel manager accommodated, only for us to find ourselves in another adjoining room, with a coughing sick child in the next room. We again asked to be moved and finally they put us in a room that had no adjoining room. This hotel offers no breakfast, not even a continental breakfast. If you want breakfast, they have a bistro and you can BUY it. If you do stay here, I recommend you go next door to Cracker Barrel. The only reason for the 3 stars is because the manager was so understanding, and the fact there is an Outback Steakhouse and a Cracker Barrel right next door to the hotel. read more

This was a great play to stay! The hotel is clean, inviting and well-maintained. Our room was fresh-smelling, clean and comfortable. The recently-refurnished lobby area is quite beautiful and a great place to hang out. (I didn't use the pool or the fitness equipment.) The best thing about this hotel is the wonderful hotel employees! Susan, Jacki, Stephanie and Charles went out of their way to help us when we had car trouble. Then, while I was stranded there all day while my husband drove to Ohio to get a car part repaired, they made me feel like "family." It was actually hard to leave when the time came to go! My fiancé and I used this hotel for our wedding guests and for our pre and post wedding day activities. The suite was fabulous! They even left and canvas wedding bag that was embroidered with "Mr. & Mrs. 2016" that was filled with snacks to take on the plane for our honeymoon. Stayed last night after a wedding. I thought our room was beautiful and comfortable, and staff were very nice. My only complaint is that a lot of light from the hallway comes into the room from the bottom of the door. I had to block it with a towel in order to sleep and also cover up the bright display from the thermostat. But overall very nice. read more

I stayed at this courtyard Marriott for one night on a business trip. The entry way decor is quite warm and the addition of Starbucks coffees at the bistro is a great plus. The hotel is also right next to an outback steakhouse, which just adds to the dining options. My room overall was comfortable, clean and the mattress was firm- which is how I prefer it. My one big problem was that the thermostat in the room was pretty troublesome during the night. Despite efforts to turn the thermostat down and cool the room it stayed uncomfortably warm through the night. Barring that, this is a perfectly good place to stay if you're in Brighton. read more

Completely upset with this property. As a Gold Elite member and for as many hotel stays I will have this year, their attitude and customer support was deplorable. I had paid for the prepaid stay and my assistant had made another reservation at a Marriott property closer to where my meetings will be held. I have never asked for a refund with Marriott, ever. I asked for a refund but they will not do it because of 'Marriott' rules. As a business owner, I understand rules. However, I was still staying at a Marriott property...it wasn't as if I was taking my business to a competitor. Very, very disappointed in the Marriott brand and am now considering another brand to do business with moving forward. So now, I have to drive a considerable amount for my meetings when I could have driven 2 miles. This Courtyard by Marriott-Detroit Brighton should be avoided at all costs. If you do happen to stay there, be sure that you don't prepay as you will be STUCK! read more
