I'm a devoted and loyal Marriott customer whenever I'm out of town I'm either staying at a courtyard or any other of the Marriott hotels. I reserved the courtyard by Marriott in Dothan Alabama in February 2026. My reservation was for May 6th - 8th. The only reason I was in Dothan Alabama was for my nieces medical school graduation upon check-in. I was advised that none of the elevators were working and that they had stopped working four weeks ago. If I wanted, I could cancel well all hotels had been completely sold out for weeks due to the medical school graduation so I had no choice but to check in, which is fine because I've always been a Marriott customer, but it didn't end there walking up the stairs to the second floor fine no problem upset because if the elevators had been down for four weeks, maybe I would've made a different choice but whatever I am a Marriott loyal customer. That night in the middle of the night the fire alarm goes off go down to the lobby. There is one person working in the lobby and he does not even acknowledge those of us in the lobby. no explanation no, it's OK. No, it's a false alarm does not even look our way. The police and the fire department shows up. They check everything and let us know. Everything is OK upon returning to the room turn on the lights there is roaches of which I have video and pictures of. the bathroom despicable, mold in the bathroom. The bathtubs looked dirty so I go down to customer service the next day because the fire alarm had gone off at 3 AM. What choice did I have? I was met with. Tony Mendez honestly I'm not sure what his role was in Marriott whether he's just an employee or a manager no idea so I went up to him and I said I need to speak to someone and I explained everything I had just gone through he kept looking at me smiling and nodding, so I said to him you're smiling and nodding at me in a very condescending way to which he responded were you or were you not offered the opportunity to cancel upon check-in and I said yes, I was offered the opportunity to cancel because the elevators were down and at check they told they had been down for four weeks at but what was I gonna do? There was nowhere else for me to stay everything was sold out and I was here for my nieces medical school graduation. He wouldn't say anything other than nodding and smiling and then I said to him I don't understand. is there no customer service training how is it that the one kid that was working the front desk wouldn't even acknowledge the customers there were standing there at 3 AM staring at him with the fire alarm going off to which he responded. Oh, he's new. He probably didn't know what to do and was probably very nervous so I said was anyone else working and he said no he was the only one on property so you left a young man who was a new employee all by himself to work at a fully sold out courtyard by Marriott and clearly had no customer service training, and if he was brand new, how could he be by himself to which he kept smiling and nodding. I was left with nothing other than to look at him and say Tony Mendez nice talk. you could give a TED talk in customer service. roaches, mold in the bathroom, dirty bathtub Broken elevators sold out weekend for probably the most important event in Dothan Alabama if you are ever faced with a reason to possibly have to stay at courtyard by Marriott, don't do it even if you have to stay an hour away at another town at a different hotel just don't do it. i'm not rating any stars so if you look for the how many stars I would give this hotel literally none. however, for me to make this post, it's making me give a star so I will give it one star but please keep in mind. We had to come to town for a funeral service and Courtyard offered the best rate. The entire property is fairly quiet and it's sat back from the main road, so easy to drive by and miss. We had a king bedroom and while the room was comfortable, the entire property looks a little run down in small ways. Don't get me wrong, when you walk into the lobby it looks beautiful and looks like it's been recently updated. But I should really start paying attention to some of the smaller areas throughout the resort, you noticed that the attention to detail wasn't necessarily put in. The other thing about the lobby is that even though it looks beautiful like it's been recently refurbished it is very dark. I believe part of that is because it's so set back from the main road. One of the closet doors didn't close in our room and we also noticed that the room had no regular kleenex in it. It does have a microwave and mini fridge which we really appreciated as we like to keep water in the room. There's a small café downstairs that is open 630 to 930 for breakfast Monday through Saturday. It then closes, but it re-opens from 5 to 1030 Monday through Saturday for beer/wine. It is close on Sunday evenings. read more

My husband and I checked in around midnight while passing through. The night staff was friendly. The room was clean and spacious. The walk in shower was large. There were built in outlets and usb chargers on each side of the bed. The only two things that I would comment on were the stains on the floor by the elevator, and the fact that they charged my husband almost $5 for a cup of coffee. Had to go back and change original review had to let front desk know there were stains on the couch and ottoman from I guess previously. Which could have been easily cleaned with some woolite upholstery cleaning or something in that matter, plus there was no fan exhaust in the bathroom..... thank goodness I Always pack my own FABREEZE SPRAY....LOL!!! read more

Worst Marriott I've stayed in. They are being remodeled. I've allowed for that. I don't allow for lights in the room not working .. smallest bath vanity I have ever seen...no housekeeping. I had to ask for a bar of soap. You have to buy your breakfast. Even the morning coffee is bought from Starbucks. Their "Bistro" serves sandwiches heated in a toaster oven. My advice is to go somewhere else. I stayed at A Quality Inn and had a better room at half the price. I'm done with Marriott. read more

Very disappointed. Had reservations for two nights. Got there to check in and was told not only was the pool closed because they were taking it out, but...you could not even sit outside and relax! The website and hotel site shows a pool and a nice patio sitting area. But all are closed! The only plus was the desk clerk. (I believe his name was Jason), he did a GREAT job! I stayed and spent about 1000 dollars with them in one week. Front Desk was rude and not helpful at all. The rooms were clean but that's it. My tv volume was on 25 they said it was too loud. ( THEIR TV) They charged me for smoking in the room and I DONT EVEN SMOKE LOL ! I wanted to extend another night because I like the area and the rooms are extremely comforting but manager said no ! This hotel misses the mark by a long shot. Parking: getting into the parking lot is a night mare as you basically have to drive through Taco Bell to get to it. Check in: staff was rude, inattentive, and flat out unprofessional. Room: they have recently been remodeled it seems, so the room wasn't too bad. Seals hanging down in the shower. At least the room cooled off quickly. The room is the only reason this hotel got 2 stars. Gym: one treadmill was ancient and had broken parts all over it. Second treadmill squeaked like it hadn't been serviced in a decade. No towels in the gym even though it had a bin for them. No water in tank. And weights were all rusty. Overall: It is just the little things that aren't paid attention to that keeps this place from being a great property. read more

The WORST Marriott we have stayed in. EVER. Evidently the Marriott name doesn't apply to the property in Dothan, AL. The sink was broken (no stopper) and the handle was NOT clean. The room smelled like mildew and we didn't understand why until a few hours later... the air conditioner didn't work well and it collected water that is just standing inside the unit. I was completely put off by this hotel, had a major rate issue and ended up paying over $50.00 over typical rates and rates indicated on the internet. While I take responsibility for not paying more attention to the rate, I paid over $200 to stay is a substandard place. The hotel is old, very old, and showing its age. The place was just OK in terms of cleanliness. The design offers a large heavy sliding glass door in each room, most of which were opening and closing all night long. The noises from other rooms were really loud, I could hear the TV int he next room all night. My room had severely cracked tile in the shower, a really bad caulking job around the glass, the internet was really slow, and I found it annoying that there were always smokers gathered just outside the entrance evening and morning. I am accustomed to Marriott having designated areas away from the entrance. And, back to the rate, when I received my folio by email and overcame the shock of what I had been charged I made three calls to the hotel, the Manager eventually called me back and I got a lecture on how the rates change hourly and that the Bonvoy guarantee of lowest price was not applicable to my situation. Not a hint of helpfulness or empathy with my situation. This was my first hotel complaint so perhaps my expectations were too high but I was completely dissatisfied with the response. My total charge was north of $200 for a night in this hotel plus breakfast (which is not provided in Coutryard properties). My clients suggested several other hotel chains having newer properties that would have cut this cost by half. They already were aware that this was not a hotel they should not recommend to visitors. I was a little disappointed in the room. It was clean with comfortable beds, but tiny things were an aggravation. First thing I noticed was the smallest bathroom vanity space I've seen in a motel, made maneuvering around my wife a pain. Making it even worse was the lack of hot water in the vanity. The shower had hot water but even though I let the water run for a very long time, hot water never appeared. Also, the exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work, it sure would have helped in some cases. Lastly and most important, for some reason they didn't have a buffet breakfast. read more

Immediately after walking into my room I noticed it smelled damp and moldy. It was an old dirty room. The sheets had a stain on them - it was too late to bother with it so I just took the sheet off and slept on the top sheet. I left a note and the staff did change the sheets for me. The second night there was a cockroach on my ceiling. My friend also found a cockroach in her room that night. The shower drain was clogged. This review does not reflect on the staff - they were all great and very friendly! Overall, this hotel was very old and dirty. I would never stay here again. read more

This is the first time I have ever been disappointed in a Courtyard by Marriott. It was dirty. The guest laundry had underwear hanging from the shelf. Carpet in the hall was worn and frayed. Finding the place is ridiculously hard. You must turn in to the Office Depot parking lot and drive around the building to a small driveway. The TV didn't work and staff explained that it was because of the hurricane. Housekeeping pounding on my door at 9:30am and then proceeded to pound on the wall as I was next to a maintenance room. Motel 6 would have been nicer. Don't waste your money. Don't stay here. read more

We got lucky with this hotel through Hotwire. It looked like it had recently been updated. The beds were firm but comfortable. It was clean and did not smell. The lobby was very nice and had a bar/restaurant. We checked in fairly late and checked out early so we did not use any of the amenities. This hotel did not offer a free breakfast but you could buy one. We left before they started serving though. For the price we paid, I would easily stay here again. read more

The exterior of the property is definitely dated and in need of a fresh coat of paint. The property is located behind Applebee's and a Taco Bell which can be a plus if you wish walk over for a quick meal; however, for me personally makes the surrounding area feel downgraded. The staff is friendly and the interior has been updated in the lobby area. The hotel does have a bistro area which allows for the purchase breakfast and coffee. Unfortunately, as I am a platinum member with Marriott my meals are routinely covered by my hotel status. This was not the case at this establishment. 16 dollars for a breakfast that came out in styrofoam. The food was not bad and appeared to be cook to order; however, was a little greasy for my taste. My room although clean definitely needed an update in the bathroom area specifically. In fact my sink stopper was locked into place and the sink would not drain. With the other hotel options in the area I might pick a different hotel next time I am in the area for business. read more

I was here in support of Fort Rucker (~30min away) for two nights and was very pleased with my stay. The lobby was very clean, and the front desk staff was friendly and attentive. They have a bistro and lounge area for breakfast, dinner and drinks. I had the Healthy Start breakfast (egg white, roasted turkey, spinach and Swiss on an English muffin with a small side of fresh fruit- $6), and it was pretty good. Also, they have a small indoor pool and workout room, which was well maintained. My room was a king size which was comfortable and clean with a sitting area, desk, WiFi(free or $6 for premium), microwave and mini fridge. The bathroom was a decent size, and the water pressure/shower head was ok (kind of average). The best part was the memory foam mattress. It was sooooo nice, and I got a great night's sleep both nights! Overall, they definitely uphold the Marriott standards, and I would be happy to stay again the next time I'm at Rucker. read more

We stopped at the Courtyard Marriott on the way to Panama City. We could see the sign from the highway, but the actual hotel is a little hard to find. It's located behind the Office Depot. The lobby is quite a surprise. It's the most modern and technology-advanced place in Dothan. The lobby shop has a market, but be warned, it has a limited candy selection. The staff was pleasant. We arrived close to midnight and they were able to accommodate our need for a roll-away bed. Giving us our sheets for it in the lobby was a little tacky, but much appreciated. Our room had two double beds. When we walked in the room felt humid. Everything felt moist. The air conditioning was on but the room felt musty. We had no choice. We had to stay. The cot was fine. We recommend taking ZzzQuil before using. Only one member of our group showered and he had very nice things to say about it. The water pressure massaged his back and temperature remained hot throughout. The provided Paul Mitchell shampoo was a pleasant, unexpected surprise. Overall, the hotel was a nice experience. Definitely book on Priceline. You can save some major cash. read more

Typical Marriott, typical Courtyard. Don't see anything different from the 100's of Marriott's I stay in across the country. Overall a good experience. I am staying here while in Dothan for work this weekend. It is a little hard to find and is in what the locals call the circle area. It is located behind a couple of fast food restaurants (taco bell, Atlanta bread company) and next to a Fairfield Inn. Indoor pool and a small workout area. So not much for laying out in the sun. I went to check in and the BONVOY app apparently wasn't working right when I made the reservations so it messed up my reservation but Carla, the guest services manager, was amazing. I can not say enough about her. Carla made sure I got what I booked and had the best attitude about it, the whole time. People like her are hard to find these days. This place reeks of mold and dirtiness. I have never experienced a Marriott in such a bad off condition and I frequently use others in this hotel line- just never a Courtyard. This past weekend my fiance and I spent a night at the Courtyard Marriott Dothan. The lobby area was brand new and well furnished actually we were very impressed by how nice the hotel was. The room was very nice, the stand up shower was so amazing, and the king size bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have slept in a while now. Kudos Dothan Marriott! read more

Well, I was disappointed in this hotel. It wasn't terrible, but there were some simple fixes that could have made the experience so much better. First, the service was very mediocre. The answers on the phone and interactions at the desk were curt, without a smile, and vaguely bored... Did not seem interested on whether we stayed there or not. The room itself was also iffy -- strong smell of chemical cleaner, but not particularly clean... Hairs here and there in the bathroom, no tissues in the tissue box, stains on the chair. Also, I was there for three days and two nights and no one cleaned my room at all. :(. It was also strange to me that they have NO complimentary coffee or water at any time, even at breakfast. I haven't seen that in a hotel in years! In general, I feel like the rooms are over-priced for the area and quality, and some complimentary coffee wouldn't be too much to ask. read more

Horrible bed- the pillow was firmer. In room carpet was pitifully stained. Been in other Marriotts and this is hands-down the worst ever! Small TV and definitely business - unfriendly based in electric outlet availability and positions. No free breakfast and the Bistro doesn't open till 0700. Not family friendly! Book adjoining rooms for your kids and get separated. When you question it, you are told it is only a request. I cannot believe it, do you leave your kids alone in their separated room down the hall? Let's move on to the pool, it is an indoor pool but, how awesome it's freezing..... Not a happy guest at all. Then let's talk about the 13% sales tax, as an advisor traveler I am use to higher taxes in destination areas, sorry but Dothan Alabama is not that. That's is not the biggest issue, the bigger issue is when we booked the room they told is the price and when checking in is when I found out about the tax. Again, bad business. read more

Stayed here in April 2019 for 10 days. My tv was broken. It would turn on for anywhere between 30 seconds and 5 minutes and then shutoff by itself. It took 5 days to get a replacement. After the replacement the tv service was a mix between grainy 1990's news channels and tv channels that I have never heard of. Cheddar tv, anime all day, pop sugar to name just a few. The standard channels missing were ESPN, TNT, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox. Every channel with any relevant programming. Apparently it takes 3 days for their service provider (direct tv) to issue them a service ticket to assess (not fix) the issue. 8 days before I ever had contact with the manager. You would think the manager would want to contact a customer who has had repeated issues quickly. I travel upwards of 70 nights a year and stay in many Marriott facilities but I will never stay at this property again. read more

Terrible. Wish we had stayed next door at the Fairfield. Beds so hard it was like sleeping on the floor. No breakfast and no coffee. Oh they have Starbucks inside and a pay for breakfast that cost almost as much as the room. I will start by saying this review is based solely on the esthetics and comfort of my stay at this courtyard not in any way reflective of the staff. This would be categorized as an older property that has had a little face lift. However, the aged property is still reflective on closer look. The location is decent. There are food options in the parking lot to walk to. Access is a bit of a nuisance but definitely manageable. The room is older and the bed wasn't overly comfortable. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Overall, it was a decent stay. And based on the price I can't complain. I was in and out. If I were in the area longer I would look to upgrade a little from this property. read more

I was very disappointed with my recent stay here. I paid extra to stay at this hotel vs others in the area because it had an indoor pool. We were coming in late so I thought my kids would enjoy swimming a couple hours. The indoor pool was ICE cold. It was so bad, kids wouldn't even get in it. I could have stayed at a nice hotel, with a free breakfast for LESS! Why would an indoor pool not be heated?? Very disappointed!! read more
