Outstanding Service That Turned a Minor Hiccup into a Memorable Stay My family and I had a wonderful weekend at the Courtyard by Marriott Santa Barbara Goleta. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We had requested an upgrade, but it wasn't quite ready when we checked in after a long three-hour drive. I was quite tired and eager to settle in, but the team handled the situation with genuine care and professionalism. Molly at the front desk, along with a helpful gentleman (who I believe may have been a manager and who was wearing glasses that Saturday), personally took ownership of the situation. They worked quickly to make things right and did everything possible to accommodate us and get us into our room as soon as they could. Their kindness and attention to detail truly turned what could have been a frustrating moment into a non-issue. Molly stood out in particular. She remembered us the next morning and made a point to check in and see how our stay was going. That personal touch meant a lot. Both Molly and the gentleman on Saturday displayed excellent service, patience, and a real commitment to making guests feel valued. The rest of the staff was equally friendly and attentive throughout our stay. We truly appreciated the professionalism and warm hospitality shown by the entire team. I work in aviation industry and this was a business trip, where I convinced my whole crew to stay here because of the location, which is very nice. We had to suddenly shorten our stay and leave early. This hotel refused to understand the situation and billed us for an extra night even though we left before official checkout time. Staff was pointing fingers at each other while the GM was hiding in the back room and refusing to even come out to speak with us. First time in 6 years with Marriott we were treated like this. Assistant GM straight up told me that our Ambassador status means nothing at this property. If your plans have any chance of changing, stay away from this place. Never again. Stayed at this Courtyard by Marriott while visiting Santa Barbara. It was close to everything, very clean, and friendly service. I especially liked the cute pool/spa area with a putting green and nice sitting areas with fire pits! Although we didn't eat here, they do have a dining area where you can purchase lunch/dinner options like soups, salads, etc. They also have a nice little bar area. I travel a lot for work, stayed here for a trip. The hotel is nice, rooms are clean. The courtyard bistro food is ok. Nothing great, felt like you overpay for mediocre quality food. I ordered the skillet meatballs for $15 and honestly with how the cashier was hyping it up I was expecting it to be good but unfortunately it wasn't appetizing at all. The meatballs tasted like it was from a frozen bag of meat definitely not freshly made. Tasted rubbery, and the sauce it came in was from a jar of pasta sauce. The picture of the skillet of meatball that they advertised looked more appealing than what came out. In the description, it stated it comes with some artisan toast but you get some weird smelling bread that was inedible. Service was ok nothing to write home about at the bistro. Ambiance is good, order the food and find a seating area in the bistro or in the lobby area of hotel. Definitely wouldn't come back here to eat. read more

Is this an extremely expensive Courtyard by Marriott or a reasonably priced Santa Barbara hotel? Duck or rabbit? Glass half empty or half full? We spent two nights here with another family over Fourth of July weekend, and while it wasn't the most luxurious hotel, it was sufficient for our purposes. We'd struck out with a few AirBnBs and just wanted an easy place to hang out with our friends and our five collective children. Goleta is in the Santa Barbara suburbs, home to the county's big box stores and chain restaurants. The Courtyard is on a giant street, right by a couple of shopping centers--walking distance, technically, but you wouldn't want to walk those boring stretches of uncovered sidewalk. We spent some time in Goleta, but we drove to Santa Barbara for most of our meals and activities. We did have breakfast at the hotel cafe one morning, which was basically a Starbucks stand in the lobby. The hotel was comfortable enough, not nice but perfectly functional. We were able to get a suite and a standard room right next to each other, and it was great to have a living area for the adults to congregate after the children went to bed. Our rooms opened out into a courtyard with lounge seating, a putting green, and a small pool. The kids had fun running around and using the pool. I don't know that we'll ever stay here again, but we had a good time at the Courtyard. I'd recommend it if you want an affordable hotel in greater Santa Barbara, especially if you think that glass is half full. read more

Let me start off explaining that I travel a lot for my job. So, I'm pretty familiar with hotels and quality. This Marriott was weak on several fronts. First, if you're looking to round off your business trip feeling sick, I recommend you getting their Turkey BLT sandwich. This will leave you feeling horrible for at least 24 hours. One of my associates got the chicken salad and could not eat more than two bites before throwing it away. Next up, if you're expecting the maid to clean your room like the JW, rest assured that won't happen here. The quality of cleanliness after the maid "cleaned" up the suite was ludicrous at best. The counter tops were left dirty, and the garbage wasn't fully picked up from the room. Last is the parking. Aside from being overcharged for your room is parking isn't free, there is a per diem for that, as well. For the price, this hotel is not much better than a motel six. I cannot recommend staying at this Marriott nor can I recommend eating in their horrid restaurant. read more

Restaurant review: The food here is good. But be prepared for a lot of sass and rudeness from the cashier/guy who makes the coffee. At first, we waited by the cashier to order breakfast of which he didn't say hi or anything for a few minutes. We asked him if it's a sit down and order ordeal since we had never been here. He's like please give me a minute. Still no hi. Like ok it was just a question. I wasn't rushing him. Weird. So then he comes by and takes our order. Still no hi. My mom said she didn't want toast with the eggs. He said do you want fruit or something like that. My mom just said sure if you have it. He mumbles under his breath I wouldn't be offering it otherwise. Wtf ? Lol . Ok weird. So then our food comes. We both ordered eggs our way. Perfect amount of food. Not too much, not too little. I liked that you can get tomatoes or potatoes. I eat tomatoes every day in my breakfast. I got up to refill my coffee. All of them were empty. My cup was half full and the lid was off. Unfortunately, it slipped out of my hand by accident. The cashier guy was hiding in the back so I couldn't tell him there was a spill. So I went to the host guest check in for the hotel and informed her. She was super sweet and was like no worries at all. And she told me she'd have them make more coffee. The cashier guy eventually comes out and starts shaking his head mad at the spill. I informed him that I told someone to bring out a wet floor sign and that I'm sorry. He was a total d-- about it. Like I already felt bad. This man had such a stinky attitude. I don't know his namr but he was hispanic and had short black hair. Honestly not sure what his problem is. Anyways. The chef in the back is a super sweet lady. She brought out more coffee and wished us a Merry Christmas. Hotel review: The hotel is beautiful, clean, has a great gym open 24/7, and the hosts at the front desk are all so sweet. The hotel itself is quite, usually lots of business crowd. Parking is spacious 15/night. They upgraded us free of charge to a corner suite. We had just ran away from the Leta (a hilton hotel, which was a nightmare.) They were so accomodating here. Beds are comfy. Bathroom and room are all spotless. Everything felt new and clean. Felt like we were in a five star hotel, just a Marriott Courtyard; but managers are doing something right. 5 star for hotel. 3 for restaurant. I give it a solid 4 for this place!!!!! read more

We stayed here the weekend that we dropped our daughter off to start college life. It was comfortable, clean, and what we hoped for. The front desk associates were welcoming and very nice to chat with. The lobby has a warm tropical scent, and immediately sets the tone for vacation and relaxation. The people above us sounded like they were doing a rendition of the musical STOMP! If you stay on the lower floor, you will definitely hear the people above you. If you can book this hotel starting 60 days out and then check the price every Tuesday and Saturday - dynamic pricing creates a lot of ups and downs. We ended up with a reasonable rate this way. Downsides: It's right in the flight path so you hear jets landing early morning and night. No complimentary coffee for guests. No Breakfast bar. (They do have a Starbucks where you can pay $3.80 for a single coffee) Parking is $15 per day, even for Bonvoy members. (Why?) Seems like you get nickel and dimed for everything. Rooms are ok, depending on where they are located. We got one that was north facing and super dark so we switched. I've stayed a many, many Marriott properties, and this one fits the mold. It smells, looks and feels like a Courtyard. Actually, I think it's newer than most. The parking lot is satisfactory. My husband and I are so impressed with our room, the staff, and the amenities, and we haven't even been in the room for an hour. Maria at the front desk was so welcoming and warm. She offered us water, extra pillows, and was very sweet. She is a gem. In fact, all the staff we have met so far have been amazing. We will be coming back. Located just North of Santa Barbara this is an easy one to get to. Self parking is great and right in front of the lobby. There is a little cafe that serves a variety of food, coffee and drinks so that is nice. Low star rating is for the way they handled a problem. Being a lifetime platinum Starwood member I am not used to being blown off when I ask about something. They put us in a room with a broken TV so when we asked about it, the front desk admitted they knew they were doing this and not only didn't apologize but they got snarky that we were asking about it. The Courtyard Marriott in Goleta is my go to place to stay at when I'm in town for work. It seems like this hotel is relatively new and they've kept it in magnificent shape. And after when I checked in this trip, the front desk told me that all the rooms were newly renovated as well. I believe there are only two floors here in the hotel and I had a room on the first floor. This allowed me to not have to do be extra cautious about when I was walking around. Also with all the different doors and exits around the building, this made it easy for me to park near the door that is closest to my room. Overall, the rooms are very spacious and inviting. The restrooms are fairly big. And I like how there are pump versions of the toiletries in the shower so you can use as a little or as much as you want without being wasteful. I've stayed at my fair share of Courtyard Marriotts and this is by far the nicest I've been at. It's in a great location that's close to UCSB and then there's a bunch of places to eat and to shop just minutes away. It's conveniently located near a lot of things. Wow I am blown away! To be honest, I find this pricey. My family and I had a great stay here for our visit to Santa Barbara. Very clean and modern. They get extra points for me because they used glass doors for showers instead of shower curtains. All amenities inside are functional. Beds are comfy but the tv remote was a bit wonky. Of course there are limited public amenities since this is an inn and not a hotel. The lobby is quite gorgeous actually. This is also located pretty close to the airport so there are airplane noises. The walls a bit thin so sometimes you can hear folks coming down the hall. Just wear earplugs and you'll be good. I would definitely come back here for lodging if I visit SB in the future! read more

I really enjoy this location. I've stayed here twice in the last 9 months. This location is clean and the staff is welcoming. It's about 10-15 min away from the heart of Santa Barbara and I find it definitely worth it to stay here with a little more leg room than the smaller boutique hotels in the city. This location has a putting green, pool and the rooms pass my hubby's bed bug inspection he does anywhere we go. This isn't my first time to the hotel, but it is my first time traveling since the COVID-19 excitement of 2020. It is convenient, quiet and out of the way from the main downtown SB crowds. (I stay in a lot of Courtyard hotels and this one has some of the most updated rooms.) The hotel was definitely less lively this time and many services from before were not available: the pool, restaurant and fitness center are closed. The front desk staff was wearing masks and there is a large plexiglass barrier between the guests and the staff. We got checked in and were provided with second floor rooms right near the stairwell. This was convenient since elevators... enclosed spaces.. coronavirus... you know... and the stairwell was right near an exterior door on the first floor. It was literally just steps from the door to where we could park the car. There are signs on all doors to remind people about the fact that face coverings are required while in the common areas of the hotel. We didn't spend much time here outside of our rooms, but our room was clean and comfortable. It seems that new policy limits housekeeping to every 4 days unless you request something different. The staff encouraged us to ask for anything that we needed. My biggest challenge was probably the trash -- since we were eating take-out for every meal, disposing of all of those containers while staying in a hotel room was interesting. Just seeing how much garbage 4 people produced with takeout 2x a day was eye-opening. While the 101 is fairly close, we did not hear any traffic noises from the freeway. There are some shopping areas nearby with a bakery, fast food, restaurants, a movie theater (closed right now) coffee shops, laundry, etc, so you can get anything that you forgot, or grab a snack or meal. UCSB is nearby, as is the beach: parking for Coal Oil point is down the road just a bit and, if you like to run, you can get there on foot within a few miles. I spent my mornings running there and then along the bluff to UCSB. The weather was great (40 degrees cooler than Phoenix) and the views of the ocean from the bluff and beach were very nice. While I'm reserving the 5 stars since most of the amenities were offline this time, I can't say anything bad about this place, really, and we'll be coming back again when things normalize and we're in town again. read more

Small rooms, expensive and largely unmanned bistro and no benefits for platinum members. This is literally the only Marriott in the world that I have been to that a platinum member can't even get a cup of drip coffee. You have to take housekeeping every day for them to refill your one caffeinated coffee in the room, which seems silly if you normally don't use housekeeping. The waste of resources has to be more than a cup of coffee but probably comes out of a different line item on the budget. Fire pits are nice. Waited over 5 minutes to buy an overpriced glass of wine, fortunately no one ever arrived and I walked to a nearby store and bought an entire bottle for just a few dollars more. I normally seek out Marriott properties but will likely pass on this one in the future. read more

I worked at the Marriott for a couple months. In this time, I saw so many problems. The biggest issue is the manager Leslie Brickell. Only working there a couple months, there were two other general managers that quit in the span of a couple weeks because of how terrible she was as a person and a manager. She was degrading, does not know how to delegate, and does not know how to make a schedule, and loves to yell. As a student, I did not know exactly what my schedule would be, but did know what days I would not be available. She was enraged when I could not come in on a day I told her I had classes. She treated the staff terribly, was condescending, degrading, and demeaning. The other staff that work there are all sweethearts, especially Lil in the kitchen. There was black mold in the ceiling vents to a lot of rooms that she was trying to sweep under the rug, and because of how she treated people, staff kept rotating in and out. The hotel itself is alright but nothing is really great. Supporting a business with an absolutely terrible manager on a power trip is something to think about! read more

I've stayed here several times but this last visit was problematic due to the staff on deck at my check in. She apparently had trouble with our government identification...and said that the hotel had challenges with it overall. She "gave me a pass" which is odd as a few hours later I checked in another family member who also has a government identification and had no trouble at all. Perhaps this was a one off, but it put a damper on my visit. That said this hotel remains the same: The rooms are a standard Courtyard experience which means they are clean, utilitarian, and comfortable. Great Memorial Day weekend stay. I am a Marriott's Rewards member so I always try and and stay at a Marriott hotel when traveling. We chose this particular hotel based on the location and proximity to the activities we planned over the weekend. Check-in was a breeze and staff was friendly and accommodating. Parking is close to the rooms so it makes it so easy to load and unload the cars especially with kids in tow. Queen beds instead doubles so that made for a better nights sleep. Although we were on the first floor near the parking lot and near the airport it wasn't noisy or distracting at all. Surprisingly quiet! Room offered all the amenities including Paul Mitchell products, coffee maker, blowdryer, etc. It was minutes to the beach and close to the road trip that we wanted to take up the coast to San Luis Obispo. It's located near a shopping plaza with lots of places to eat including a movie theatre. Breakfast was included with our package and the bistro cafe was like a mini restaurant with lots of seating. The cool factor was it had a few booths with your own private TV in each one! (but there are only two booths). You can watch the news or kids can watch cartoons while you eat. The bistro selections included with the price were impressive. Large croissant egg sandwich or a scrambled egg breakfast with potatoes, sausage and toast. For the kids they chose the yummy French toast with choice of bread and also was a nice sized portion. Coffee was good too. Bike rentals were available at the front desk to rent and ride along the trails! A mini putting green, outdoor seating near the pool to eat, a jacuzzi and fitness center were all on the property. One thing I always try and teach my kids is to say good morning to the staff and this includes the maids who you always find in the hallways. They were so appreciative that we acknowledged them. There's no reason why you can greet a bellman but not the maid. So please treat them like human beings and be polite. Say good morning and leave them a nice tip, they are the hardest working people at a hotel. read more

Brand new Courtyard in Santa Barbara just outside the UCSB campus. The hotel is one of the best Courtyards that I have stayed in. There is great courtyard with chairs and fire pit. All the hotels in Santa Barbara charge really high rates and this one is no exception. It was $250 per night. Parking is free and is outside the hotel. Since it was sold out this weekend there were only a few spaces left in the late evenings. The only downgrade for this Courtyard was the housekeeping and Front Desk could not get which rooms were clean and available for new guests. We arrived at 4:15 pm to check in and were told the rooms were not ready yet. We waited about 15 min for the Front Desk to get it straight with the Housekeeping staff. The Courtyard Marriott in Goleta is one of the better Courtyards I've stayed at. Given its name, this Courtyard's location is not as close to Santa Barbara as one may expect, so check a map before you book here. Even still, my commute each day to work in downtown Santa Barbara was only 20 minutes each way. Before transitioning here, my previous two weeks had been at the closer but depressing Hampton Inn Goleta, which is an inferior property to this Courtyard, and I'd believe that even if I wasn't granted complimentary suite upgrades as a Marriott Platinum Elite. You may not be as fortunate as me, but the amenities that are common to all rooms, such as the Keurig coffee maker, the high-pressure shower, the wall-mounted televisions, and the comfortable luxe mattresses, are the reasons you pay a few extra bucks for Courtyard-brand hotels. Staff was comprised of the laid-back, friendly hospitality professionals one would hope to have attending to them on California's central coast. They have a gregarious bartender (sorry, I forgot your name, dude) who I watched Sunday Night Football with -- a Broncos fan unfortunately, but otherwise cool for a good football argument or two. Breakfast at the "bistro" was served quickly and on par with typical Courtyard standards. I had the standby "All American" (eggs, breakfast pork, potatoes, toast) one morning and the low-cal but filling "Egg White Frittata" the next. This property is located within a minute or two drive of shops and eateries. There are scenic mountains to the east, and ocean to the west - but even though this property is close to the coastline, your eyes can't quite reach the sea from it. Expect to have your reservation cancelled at the time of your check in!! We hit tons of traffic on our way to the hotel, so we arrived about one hour late and when we were able to finally check our phones, we saw an email saying that our rooms are no longer available and we were essentially kicked out due to them already being occupied by a big party extending their stay at the hotel. They had no rooms available and booking two rooms, they moved us to two different rooms in two different hotels extremely disappointed with the unprofessional behavior. read more

Has anyone been charged for parking at this hotel and location? I never had in the 5 years I have been using this place...'til now. It's not the $10, It's the principle of it. They said since the last year. Ummm no. I was here last Feb, summer, Dec and Jan and I was never charged. And they didn't care that the whole back parking area was filled with soccer people. I couldn't park by my room, I had to go around the corner. Any other inconveniences? I am so many, it's frustrating. Right now I will rate it only one start just to get a review in. I have been coming here steadily for 5 years, 4-6x a year, possibly more in the past year or two. I come here b/c of the location and rates. But the other issues are not making it worth it now. Marriott is one of my favorite hotel chains. I always look for it in the area I'm planning to be. Fortunately this Courtyard was near UCSB (about 5-10 minute drive). The rooms are spacious even the bathrooms are spacious. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Checking in took little extra time but they were training a new employee so totally understandable. They have a small cafe in the lobby area but we chose to drive and go to a restaurant for breakfast. They offer free parking and we were able to park right in front of our room. I will continue to look for Marriott whenever I travel. read more

2 story hotel. Why would you put a family with small children upstairs? Had the kid run back and forth all night and all morning.
