Ok, so you get what you pay for. The hotels in the Santa Barbara area are a little higher priced than most places I go, so I had to drop a few levels in quality and service but since I'm by myself and it's only one night, oh well. The shower is questionable looking with some cracking and weird looking patch or something at the spout end. Small tv, but I've been seeing that in quite a few hotels from other brands too. I think the marketing guy that decided three small squarish pillows was perfect for a queen bed also decided tvs only had to be 30in no matter the room size. Smallish room, but we are dealing with an old roadside inn style building. The pool did look nice when I walked by but I am not going to be able to take advantage. New hotels have tiny pools, this one looked like it was left over from back in the day when it was a decent size. Nothing special about the room, very basic other than the interesting corner chair. Well, first and foremost, I believe I owe the good people of motel 6 an apology, I have never stayed at one of these "hospitable bed receptacles" nor even intended to, however, I am most pleased by my wrongful assumption of this establishment, being, well, wrongful. Due to overwhelming word of mouth over the years I expected an almost ramshackle like box for which I would have to claw through my Innate human instincts in order to survive the night, however I was pleased upon arrival to a relatively clean environment and a color scheme almost akin and reminiscent to my time I've spent in ano meta (and) the town of Mykonos. Granted the momentary stay here was overshadowed by the fun pastimes Initially spent here in the first place so the only reason and necessity was the comfort of slinking away from the dark and scary outside if only for a couple hours, a place to rest one's head, nothing more nothing less. And though I brought my own pillow and sleeping bag and decided to use them, should there maybe possibly on a slim chance for there to be a next time maybe, I doubt I will be making the decision to pack them again, as this quaint little so-and-so has captured my eased mind if only for the couple hours left in the night. read more

I was informed that "I cannot be loitering" literally as we were discussing which room I was booking in the office. I really felt like I should take my money and go anywhere up or down the street! I'm starting to think people under the age of 45-50 years old are not capable of comprehending customer service anymore. I was also told it would be 300$ tomorrow because weekend and holiday next day(they really take advantage if they feel they have a higher volume of potential "guests" it was empty and relatively cheap- maybe everyone decided to stay somewhere else? Nobody left a light on for me last three stays... I checked in because I became ill, and then was woken up at 12:30 by some male customer laughing with the male manager outside my door. I want to give a shout out to this Motel 6 for their kindness in giving me a full refund on my reservation despite my requesting it less than the required 24 hours in advance. I was planning to drive to Goleta from LA to attend a memorial event for a dear friend, but predicted heavy rains and flooding caused me to cancel my trip due to concerns about being able to drive safely there and back. This room was disgusting. The shower was dirty. Cobwebs on walls. Shower curtain torn & filthy. No ADA grab bar in shower. The hvac unit in the room was so full of dust & dirt looked like it hadn't been cleaned/vaccumed in years! On checkout the front desk person didnt even get up to take room keys. We haven't stayed at a Motel 6 in over 25yrs until this week. Couldn't justify spending over 2x more for local hilton so decided to give it a go. Joel and the team were very professional and welcoming as we walked in the lobby. Yes the facilities are a bit dated, but we're paying less than half of what other motels are charging. I was supposed to stay at Motel 6 in Goleta, California on June 15, 2024. It was the night before my daughter's graduation from UCSB. I paid $569. The room was full of flying insects when I got there. I went to the front desk to complain and they showed me a second room. It too had flying insects though not as bad as the first room. I told the desk clerk that I was not staying there and that I would seek a refund. I have tried numerous times to reach the manager who sent me to Booking.com {formal complaint filed} who sent me back to the motel who sent me to their corporate office who said give it several weeks for them to effect an adjustment. I called today and I was told to call the motel manager again. He is reportedly out on sick leave and the temp manager can not make a decision. What a runaround!!! Was in town for 2 nights for a wedding. On the first night we saw a roach under the mattress (we also heard another guest yelling about the roaches in their room from a few doors down). On the first night we got back late from the wedding and the next morning we were absolutely inundated with phone calls and finally one of the employees banging on the door. The woman (not sure her name but she was plus sized and was working around 11am the morning of the 5th) told me that we had overstayed our welcome and had to go. Through bleary eyes, I tried to explain that we had the room until the next day. She immediately got very confrontational and condescending, like she was certain I was wrong. The conversation went something like "Checkout was at 11, you need to Go" "We have the room until tomorrow" "No you don't" "I called ahead, we have the room until the 6th" "You can follow me to the office and check but your wrong and you have to go" I promised her I'd payed for 2 nights and she had me follow her down to the office. Finally she checked the computer and, of course, almost immediately recognized I'd paid for two nights. When she realized she made a mistake she didn't apologize, she just blamed the fact that my booking was on a computer tab that was not the one who had presently open. I get people make mistakes but if I'd been the employee I'd probably be super embarrassed and apologized. Well, it didn't exceed the Motel 6 reputation, which is to say it was OKAY. On a recent trip to Santa Barbara for UCSB parents weekend, we booked a little late and found Motel 6 to be one of our few options. Customer Service: The only real encounter we had with their staff was via phone, when I said we would not need anyone to clean our room between Friday and Saturday. I was informed they have no housekeeping, LOL. The room had two queen beds which was fine for our group of 3, a bathroom with a weird set-up and some space to walk around. The room was not that small, we were fine with the space in #132. Overall the place was clean; they had a flat screen tv so that was a plus. Location: I need to give them props for this. They are conveniently located next to many restaurants and super markets. You forgot your toothbrush? No problem, Walgreens is right across the street. Alcohol? You got Albertson's right next door and Trader Joe's. There are also many restaurants and a bowling alley within walking distance. Motel 6 does play with their prices depending on what is happening on said weekend, I felt $200/night was high all things considered. read more

During my last stay 7-27-24, there were bedbugs in the room, they're for sure in at least one of the beds. Woke up at around 5am to them, talked with two front end employees and they were helpful in who to contact. However, reaching higher management hasn't been successful. Sometimes you don't even get what you pay for. I booked three days at this Motel 6 to spend a few days with my son because my first grandson was born. the first night in room #118 I didn't get any sleep because of the noise above me and the steps outside the room with people going up and down all night. there were motorcycles and plenty of people smoking in the parking lot With their dogs barking. Day two i came back from breakfast to find that my door key didnt work any more with all my belongings still in the room. I had to pay the additional two days to key the key reprogrammed like a ransom to get my clothes , Ipad and personal belongings. I stayed at my son's apartment the second night so i could get some sleep. I went back the third day in the morning packed my bags and checked out and was told no refunds. I paid $468 for no sleeping at this hotel. A few of the other things were. The ice machine wasn't working when i tried to use it. There was no house keeping any of the time I was there no hand towels or wash rages Available. And i had to use some of the regular bath towels for the floor or get black dirt on my feet from the ground in dirt. I've decided that i will refuse payment for the second charge when i receive the bill. I will never stay at this Motel 6 again. Peace. Since we were just looking for hot showers and clean beds we thought we would try the infamous Motel 6. Very cramped and Spartan for about $100 on a Thursday night. No shampoo, hair dryer or Kleenex. The shower had a decent spray and enough hot water so that was probably the best feature of Motel 6. Towels were tiny and thin, smelling strongly of bleach, so I assume they were clean. I said ok so you're being a smart ass? He said oh now you call me names you can get out! Mind you, it's Mother's Day! I'm supposed to be meeting my daughter and I had no time to find another place to stay with two small dogs. So I said ok listen I apologize if I offended you that was not my intent. He said thank you. I said what room do you have available because it is Mother's Day and I have plans to meet my daughter. I get down there and he says I don't want no trouble with you. I said excuse me, I am not asking for trouble. I was ditched to stay in a room that I laid for with no air because your AC unit smells like piss when it's on. He says again well it smells like roses to someone else another lady said she smelled a dead body and the police came out and looked for hours this morning and they found no dead body she was high! I said well I am sober, and I assure you, when you turn the AC unity on it smells like piss! He starts yelling you want t a problem, but then my son walked in and he settled down and started saying I didn't want any problems this room is fine and if you don't like this one I have another one that you can try. We went to the next room and turned on the AC and it did not smell like urine. Frank came and knocked on the door and asked if we were ok with the room And I said yes. He said is there anything else I can do for you and I said absolutely not. He was so blatantly rude and nasty towards me until he realized I was with my son, a young man. The next morning there was another guy at the desk I believe his name was Mike. I asked him for the contact info for who owned the motel and he said it's corporate owned and he gave me a number that I could call. I will definitely be calling because this was unacceptable! Do not stay here! The one in Santa Barbara has very nice people working there, extremely kind. Do not stay in the Motel 6 in Goleta. It was ridiculous I was livid I've never been so humiliated and disregarded when spending my money in my life. I was so looking I'd I ended up canceling my reservation for the Motel 6 in Riverside. Just had the unfortunate experience of staying here. Staff were not surprised when I complained about the dirty condition of the rooms. Switched to another slightly less repugnant room. When checking out the manager asked me if I knew where I was, then said, "you are at a motel 6, you are lucky the other person switched your room."Then demanded I speak English(my first language) and called me a prostitute. Stayed here one night while visiting family. I reserved a double room. Very basic, full size beds. Room was small, bathroom was surprisingly big considering the size of the room. Tv and small table with chairs available. Bowling alley located across the street as well as other stores. If you're looking for a very basic, "need somewhere to sleep" type of room, this is it. If you're looking for fancy or spacious, this won't be a good fit. It's pricey for what you get so do your research before booking. read more

It's been nigh three months since my fantastical voyage down to the southern lands of California, and yet I've only reviewed one of the many places I visited down there. Oops! Why Motel 6, you might ask? L, I thought you had more class than that, you might reprimand. Well heck! Don't go judging me on where I stay. Or maybe you can. You see, not everyone in the whole world can afford to stay at places that run $150+ a night for several nights except maybe The Commodore, and not bat a single eyelash. Plus, Motel 6 was cheaper than Super 8 (which sucks donkey balls), AND they allow pets to stay for free. Got that? FREE! That was the biggest tipping stone of them all. I'd stayed at the Motel every now and then during my long college career, so I was familiar with the establishment. Never had an issue with them. And they just recently renovated the place, so the rooms were that much more posh during my recent stay. The bed was cushy, and the staff was super excellent in every way possible that could make a lone person's stay most welcoming and enjoyable. If you're visiting good ol' Goleta, I urge you to stay here if you don't fancy pulling your gold teeth out for some fancy digs. The rooms are just as nice, the staff friendlier, and their hassle-free attitude worth every penny you fork over. read more

Cheapest hotel in Santa Barbara I could find, but still man $150+ for this?! Seriously?! Barely any room to walk around; we were tripping over our luggage. Bathroom did not come with anything but towels. Showers did not have hot water, complained, and they basically said the piping is old- a lot of people might be showering right now- and that they can't do anything about it. Air conditioning was loud and even then the room was stuffy. Tip: in hindsight if your trip is to go to Santa Barbara and solvang and you are heading up from Orange County, play in Santa Barbara the first day and head to solvang at night, get up early to play in solvang and Ostrichland, then start your journey back down to Santa Barbara and play there for the rest of the day, but not stay overnight cuz pricing is horrendous for just a place to lay your head. read more

These two guys also sat outside of my door smoking cigarettes from 8pm to 5am and talking loudly so I could hardly sleep. Freeway noise was loud because the walls were paper thin. Again, I could barely sleep, which is the whole point of a hotel. My friend made the reservations for the room, but was arriving a few hours after me. Motel 6 allowed me to register into the room so I didn't have to take a nap in the car until she arrived. The check in process was very nice and the gentleman that helped me was extremely friendly and attentive. As I tried following the attendants direction to the room I took so many wrong turns, his directions were horrible! But I finally found my room. As I opened the door, it was clean but tooooo small. Hardly enough room to store our bags and walk comfortably to the bathroom. There were no toiletries, not enough towels and no blow dryer. This is probably by far one of the worst hotel rooms we've ever been in. Let's start with the positives: the door to the room opened and closed and locked. There was water. All the lights worked. It was clean. They had a nice area for the dogs. And the front desk gentleman was very nice and even offered us free Wi-Fi. Okay , the decor. I suppose because it's a pet friendly hotel they decided to use laminate as opposed to carpet. Laminate is fine unless it's paired with a 1975 GMC motorhome Decore which is simply disgusting. The mattress seems to be made of old bicycles seat springs and wrapped in tissue and it was a bit like sleeping on a bouncy house. There was no shampoo, no conditioner, no lotion. I was here a little over a fortnight ago to stay with my recreational basketball team. Somehow I wanted to incorporate the word "fortnight" into this review. It's not often that you're able to remember something two weeks in the past and then recall it in everyday conversation. So there. I guess this Motel 6, like i'd imagine the rest of their motel chain is, gets the job done, barely. You're definitely not going to be spending much time in a room the size of a closet. Imagine then, trying to fit 7 guys into one of these rooms. It's not pleasant to have to go through all the mathematical possibilities, the permutations and combinations, to figure out how to best maximize the little space we had in this room. The probability for failure was high and I did not want to calculate the amount of headache it was going to take to figure it all out. Do we sleep one head up, one head down or do we do 4 on one bed and 3 on the other? Eventually we ended up playing a pseudo musical beds/chair for who got to be on the beds and who was forced to take the chair. Fortunately, one of us offered to sleep on the floor. What's worse is that there were strange stains on the sheets and satin. Not cool. Also, when I went, the pool was under construction. So Motel 6 needs to step it up. When I tried to sleep one night after we all went to the nightclub Tonic, in downtown SB, I suppose I got in too late after taking a late night booty call. I tried the chair, didn't work. Then I tried to finagle my way onto one of the beds in the pitch-black darkness, mind you. It was a failure. I ended up at the foot of the bed with my feet on the chair which was all that this room made for two allows for seven guys. However, when I woke up, I had commandeered the majority of the bed. This mini-victory was the highlight of my stay here. The newly renovated Motel 6 rooms are okay if you're staying within the expected guest limits but is a flat-screen TV and a small, dingy room worth about 110 a night? Nope, especially when I was telling my friend Demian that with a deal you could stay at the Wynn in Las Vegas for that much. read more

Construction workers inebriated from the tough labor, (that or the exorbitant amount of booze they consumed) made the police routinely visit the establishment. How much can I ask for from a Motel 6? Not much, except for a SHOWER THAT DOESN'T LEAK! Other than that it wasn't a horrible stay. Most of the time (during big events like Drinko de Mayo, Graduation, Orientation weekends, etc) this place is booked a week in advanced. I usually don't like reviewing large chains, but for this, I'll make an exception. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. It's as simple as that. At first glance, it seems like an okay place, although the price is a bit high for Motel 6. They have a decent paint job and an lcd tv in the rooms. That's where the good part ends. First thing we noticed as we walked in was that it was dusty. The cleaner did an extremely shoddy job with the place and it showed. It also didn't have a clock... first time I've seen a motel not have one. The wireless (which you had to pay for) had very weak signal and we kept getting disconnected from it. In the double bed room, the wind from the heater blew directly onto the bed next to it. And finally, the last, but definitely not the least, we found a cockroach crawling around our room and we didn't even have any food set out. We went to complain and all we got was that they're sorry and were willing to move us to another room. If you have a cockroach problem, moving to another room isn't going to fix anything.
