I'm not a fan of Courtyards. I consider them overpriced low budget hotels. Husband booked this one for a work trip. It did not change my opinion Courtyards. This hotel is easily in the top 5 worst hotels I've stayed in. When you walk into the room, you're hit with an overwhelming smell. Husband said it's musty, it smelled like feet to me. The smell was so offensive that we went and bought some febreeze and plug ins. It didn't help, now it smelled like flowery dirty feet. The nightmare didn't end there. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. There were mystery stains on the walls, rust and water damage everywhere. Needless to say, we checked out the very next morning and moved to a different hotel. read more

This is my second visit to this location. This visit was much better than the first one. Staff are still just as friendly as before. Overall lobby appearance and cleanliness are spot on. Room accommodations were much better this time. No room conditions or concerns. I was able to sleep through the night. The hotel features gym and pool. Hands down the worst experience. This hotel canceled my reservation without any notice. They overbooked and randomly started canceling people's reservations. What a dump! This location does not live up to the Marriott reputation in my experiences. The lobby area is pretty nice but that's where it ends. The first room I was given had used soap with hair on it in the shower and the wall was literally falling apart around the AC unit. Went downstairs to request another room. Front desk staff was super apologetic and nice..she asked me to forward the pictures I took to the manager...he has not replied to me. My stay was almost a month ago. The new room was adequate, but I was thankful I only booked 1 night. Everything in the room is way too outdated. Bathroom was like a matchbox and the floor didn't look very clean. Thankful I didn't get any bedbugs. Lol Staff at the lobby bistron were also helpful and cordial. Guess I should have slept in the lobby. Stayed here just for one night to rest so I didnt visit the amenities. Not to Marriott standards in my opinion. They do seem to have a major water/mold problem. Rugs in the hallway had one of those blowing machines drying them. The rooms rug had water stains. The furniture in the room look rusted and old. They do need major renovation. However the view and location is perfect. I would love to come back and hopefully things do get better for them. read more

Worse, no one (either local or corporate) seemed to care when I tried to report our bad experience., which I preferred to do rather than post a bad review. Maybe we just caught them on a bad week. I preface this review with the following: Yes, I am a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite Member. I am also aware that a beachfront hotel in Gulfport, Mississippi is not a Ritz Carlton and will lower my expectations, accordingly. I have previously stayed at this hotel (about three years ago). My, how it has changed...for the worse. My original reservation for a king sized bed was dishonored. Okay, whatever...I can deal with that. The ice maker on my floor was broken...the elevator ran so slowly that I decided to take the stairs to the next floor to grab ice...I do not believe that the carpet in the stairwell has ever been vacuumed. The wallpaper in the hallways was dotted with mold in multiple places, as was the ceiling in the bathroom in my room...mold also covered the bottom of the shower curtain, the caulk at the top of the tub and the drain in the sink. The floor was damp...actually wet...in multiple places. The furniture was beat up. Several of the lamps had patches of rust. There was a nasty stain on the chair in the corner of the room. There were multiple stray hairs on the walls of the shower...I do not believe that they were from someone's scalp. By the time I was done taking a shower, I was standing in a three-inch pool of water, even though the drain was fully open. The TV had an option to connect to Netflix but was not actually connected to the Internet. I tried ringing the front desk multiple times to inquire...no one picked up. Even though I was told I could have a late checkout, this was not reflected on my reservation when I checked the Marriott Bonvoy App. I'm glad I went downstairs to ask...but was horrified by how I was treated. I was accused of not being an elite member by the person stationed behind the front desk...until her colleague pointed out that she had pulled up the wrong room. I can't imagine that it is easy to maintain a beachfront hotel...salty air will, indeed, rust furniture. People will trek in sand, etc. But, mold is really gross. For the price, I'll forgo earning points and stay at one of the casino hotels, next time. read more

We reserved a room with two beds and a foldout couch and a beach view. We were given a two queen bed room on the first floor with a parking lot view. We called the desk because we needed the couch bed. We were told that what we have is what we have... Two slept, fully, in one bed and our curtains and windows had to stay closed so passersby on the sidewalk don't look into our room. The beds are covered with thick pads to disguise the fact that the mattresses are dead. I though that my foot may break through the hollow spots on the shower floor. They have a patch in the shower floor to cover the crack, but it doesn't stop the crack from letting water leak out. On the positive side, the room was clean. read more

When I went it was a pretty busy weekend, The hotel had a lot of vets present and celebrating. The front desk staff was very accommodating and housekeeping was way above average. I had adjoining rooms on the first floor the rooms were spacious with a view of the pool, and the water pressure in the room was nice and hot. The bar area was lively and the food selections were decent. I normally have tons of photos, but on this particular outing, I was going a little heavy on the libations. read more

I'm a basic bitch & unposh af, but this is the worst hotel room I've stayed in for at least 20 years. 1) compressor on Amana a/c unit (how did Amana snag that niche anyway) squeaks like a rat in agony. 2) hook on bathroom door missing; rusted base offers no explanation. 3) mattress visibly warped and only slightly softer than a park bench. 4) bedside lamps have 3 settings: one bed gets light / other bed gets light /neither bed gets light. notice anything missing? 5) absence of USB sockets is minor but I'll toss that onto the pile. ... positive note: two actual rocks glasses made of glass. which is good, because it's gonna take some bourbon to inure me to that compressor's squeals. updates: 1) showerhead surprisingly strong; 2) wifi feeble AND intermittent; 3) room fridge same; yesterday's cold Dew is today's room-temp Dew. We stayed at the Courtyard Gulfport Beachfront this past weekend for my cousin's wedding. They had the wedding ceremony at Gulfport beach and the reception in the hotel's ballroom. We booked our room using their wedding hotel rate block for family and friends. We arrived around 6:30 PM Friday night after a long drive from GA. The staff really went above and beyond to make you feel like you were at home while away from home. Mrs. Jennifer was such a sweetheart! She was so nice to us and so sweet towards the little ones (mine and other guests' kids). She's like the grandmother that everyone loves. There was a bit of confusion at check in due to the way our rooms were held by the mass reservation initially (and then reassigned once I called to place our card on file for our room), but the staff worked it out in a timely manner. The room and room cleanliness was about a 3.5 out of 5. We found a metal can cap near our bed on the floor and our hair dryer was broken. This was inconvenient after swimming and the staff failed to bring us a replacement after we asked. They did bring us plenty of towels and wash cloths per request, and housekeeping did not service rooms unless requested due to Covid-19. The beds were comfortable enough for decent rest and we had a nice view of the pool from our room, 401. I must say that this hotel had one of the NICEST pools that I've seen, outside of a resort. Most pools are tiny and end with 5 feet, but this one goes up to 10 feet. This is great for those that enjoy swimming and diving. I also loved the convenience of the hotel's location. It is walking distance of Gulfport Beach and about five minutes away from Island View Casino. I would definitely return in the future. read more

This is by far the worst Marriott I have ever stayed at. Upon check in, there was a weird fake pine odor. The first elevator was broken so that led to long wait times every time we needed it so we opted for the stairs. Pool was closed because it was green. Stayed on the 4th floor and an even stronger weird pine/mildew smell. Huge fans running non-stop in the hallways. Stains on the chairs near elevator, hallways dirty, ice machine not working. Beds were very uncomfortable, mold in bathroom at ceiling and tub, broken tiles. Rust on light fixtures and hinges. Furniture was worn out and stained. Marriott HQ, you ought to do a site visit on this property! read more

While most of my reviews for places are usually positive, unfortunately, this will not be one of them. I will start by saying the front desk people were very pleasant and tried to make a bad situation better, but they were in a very difficult spot. Also, the view from our rooms was very good. After checking in late Thursday evening we got all settled in room 522 and unpacked. After showering we realized the toilet didn't function properly. Contacted the front desk and they said it could not be fixed that evening so they moved us next door to room 520. In that room we noticed the sink wasn't draining but thought it was just slow so went to bed assuming it would be empty in the morning. Got up, and the sink still had not drained. Contacted the front desk about this issue then left for the morning. When we returned in the early afternoon we were told that a plumber had to be called and it wouldn't be fixed and we would have to move again. The toilet in our original room was fixed so we could move back there. When we said something about both issues happening we were told "the building's old, these things happen." Packed up once again and moved back to 522. Friday morning we found that there was no complimentary breakfast. We've always stayed at Marriotts that offer that. It's one of the reasons we like Marriotts. They kindly gave us coupons for breakfast. This Marriott did not even have complimentary coffee in the lobby. We were told by the restaurant person free coffee is only available in the rooms. Since we are not sure how often or how well the room coffee makers are cleaned, we stay away from those. The coffee sold in the restaurant is marketed as Starbucks, but it's unlike any Starbucks we have tasted before, and it cost around $3. When we checked in on Thursday afternoon we noticed that the elevator closest to our room wasn't working. Saturday morning there was a note on the other elevator saying it was also broken and to take the stairs. Husband, as a former firefighter, noticed as we were going down that the fire doors weren't closing properly. The stairway carpeting was very dirty and there were some very questionable marks on the walls. For the room problems we were given a couple of drink coupons each which was very nice. We each used one coupon on Friday night. We then tried to use one of the BOGO drink coupons Saturday night after returning from dinner out but were told the bar closed at 8, so we trudged up 5 flights of stairs drinkless. The young woman at the front desk called us a bit later asking what we wanted to drink. She was going to send someone to the liquor store to pick something up for us. We weren't going to have someone doing that so we declined, but it was very sweet of her to offer. When we got to our room, it had not been cleaned. I contacted the front desk who had towels sent up. Taken individually, except for the elevators, each of these are no big deal, but when there are so many issues in such a short time it shows a negative pattern. My husband has a very bad back at the moment and to climb five flights of stairs was very bad. When we left on Sunday morning the elevators still were not working. Fortunately, we travel fairly light but dragging a suitcase and other things down five flights takes a lot of effort. To top it all off, when leaving, the main automatic doors didn't open all the way. My husband was on his way through when the doors stopped and he caught his shoulder (recently repaired by surgery) on the door. This was by far the worst experience we have ever had at any hotel and the comment about the hotel being old was just frustrating. If infrastructure is maintained these problems wouldn't happen. For work my husband stayed in over 40 different hotels last year, including multiple Marriotts. He said this was the worst experience he has had. read more

I'm reviewing this nasty hotel to leave a note never stay here again. Checking in was not hospitable. The room was like camping outside fighting off flying bugs. The mold in every room was disturbing. They told my brother in the room next to ours, they don't clean rooms they only offer welfare checks. Don't expect free coffee or breakfast, they are happy to sell you coffee in the lobby. Check the photos if you don't believe me. I can't wait to leave so I don't have to smush another flying bug. I'm here at a conference, and the conference facilities have been okay. The main conference room is freezing, and we asked for it to be regulated to no avail. The food was fabulous, but some of the details were lacking, such as separate dessert plates and not enough food. We are a bunch of women. Food portions are generally smaller. Food shouldn't have run out. We asked for clean tablecloths since we had already eaten 3 meals in the current ones and were told we would have pay for more tablecloths to change them, so we ate two more meals on the same ones. I am told we got a great deal on having the conference here, so we appreciate their willingness to work with us on a great rate. We had to change sleeping rooms because the air wouldn't cool and the room smelled like Dunkin' Donuts. The next room's air was cooler but didn't regulate well. Our room wasn't serviced the next day, so we went down to get towels for the next day. Towels are thin. Many of the staff members were so incredibly sweet . Had a generally nice two day stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly when I checked in, and they were friendly throughout my stay. The hotel is in very close walking proximity to the beach, and there are several great restaurants close by in the area. As others have pointed out, this hotel is dated, and it needs to be updated. I wasn't fond that I could check in online, but then I still have to go to the counter to check in and get my room key; modern Marriotts have mobile keys enabling you to go straight to your room. Inside the room, it was very spacious, but it was dated and could go for an update. The air conditioner was very old and it was leaking water all over the carpeting. Downstairs, I went to get an ice cream from the lobby freezer and it was nasty! Found out the freezer broke, the ice cream melted, but for some reason the staff thought it was a good idea to leave the ice cream in there. Overall, not a terrible experience, but this hotel has some work to do. read more

I typically don't do delayed reviews however I attempted to allow the Courtyard Marriott to respond but ended up receiving no such response. I stayed there In Feb for one night. I had a reservation for three weeks however didn't make it past the first night. I have done a lot of traveling, nationally and internationally, and this is the second hotel I have come across that had cockroaches in the room. Beyond the cockroaches the rooms were very musty/mold smelling. The location is prime, however not worth it. I have stayed at many Marriott and courtyard locations and this is far from what I expect. This is the first, wish I could give zero star review. I ended up staying at a hotel next to the airport-Marriott residence inn which was really nice, quite, clean rooms, delicious breakfast. and had very comfortable beds. read more

This is an absolute mess of a hotel. The check in process was an absolute mess. I checked in to the hotel and all was good but they didn't have a room so I had to wait. After an hour I go to the front desk to get a key since it's after 4pm and they cannot find my reservation. They gave my room to someone else. Took about an hour and 45 minutes to get my room key since arriving. The first room smelled like cigarettes so I asked to switch it. The new room was better but the sink doesn't drain, towels have stains and so does the bedding. It is an overall old and disgusting hotel. Don't let the new black and white exterior paint fool you. This is easily the worst marriott experience I have had and I have been a marriott platinum member for years traveling for work. One of my coworkers has mold on his wall next to the AC. Also after getting takeout pizza from a pizza place that apparently didn't offer plates, when we asked the hotel (which has a bistro) is they had any plates and they said no, and also proceeded to tell us twice that "usually you ask the place you got your food for plates"... Yeah thanks for the great advice, because I definitely didn't ask when I was there... Also if the crappy beds don't keep you awake all night the morning freight train horns will. The worst part is definitely that the hotel staff does not adhere to any covid standards especially mask wearing. The staff that clean rooms only sometimes wear masks but the front desk personnel will pull their mask down to talk to you... Which was a first for me. Ehhhh, this place is a toss up. So the lobby/ dining areas when you first walk in are completely updated and modern. The employee that checked us in was super nice, knowledgeable and accommodating to anything we needed. The next few parts is where the 3/4 stars come into play. The rooms were somewhat updated but the turnkey company seemed to just have painted over the old designs and decor. You could tell that not much attention or detail was put into the remodel. There was apparent spots in the ceiling that resembled mildew or some sort of deterioration. Also, the fire alarm kept going off. It was quite annoying, and we couldn't get maintenance to come up quick enough to fix it before it kind of died out. One thing that we thoroughly enjoyed was the top notch breakfast! When you think of hotel breakfast or even food in general, you think bland continental food. Not this one! The food was amazing and cooked with care and an actual expectation to taste good. First and foremost, I was reluctant to even say anything but I'm looking around at this room and it looks disgusting. It looks like a two star hotel. I got this room for a decent rate but it's extremely dirty and it looks like they just gave me one random room instead of giving me what I paid for. I'm seeing the pipes under the sink. And the lady at the front desk said that I got an "upgrade" on the first floor but really it looks like a downgrade. It looks like they just gave me an extra spare room and covered it up by saying it was an upgrade. I don't have a bathroom countertop. And the bathroom looks like it was made for someone who has a disability such as a wheelchair. This isn't what I paid for. The shower looks dirty and rundown. It gives me a reminder of a motel. Even the tile floors are disgusting. What did I really pay for? Granted I thank God for a very good rate but still. I paid for a decent room and this is far from decent. I'm in town for business. My boss thinks I should stay near the beach. So she moved me to this hotel. I honestly don't like it at all. They don't serve breakfast for the reason of COVID. But guess what, the Residence Inn in Biloxi airport served hot breakfast. There is a small refrigerator in the room. But there is no microwave. I can't think how is it sanitary to use a public microwave in the lobby better than they serve a to go breakfast. The room settings are fine. It's standard Courtyard room. No complaints there. But the location is near downtown, there is a train going through the area. My sleep was severely interrupted 4 times in the night when the train tooting through the town. I'm requesting to switch hotel. This is not a place I can stay for 10 nights. read more

This is the dirtiest most run down courtyard I've ever stayed at. There are dehumidifiers on every floor in the hallway. There is rust stains around the vents, and door frames, the carpets are overdue for cleaning. The fitted sheet was so thin you could see the mattress underneath. There was a mattress pad under the fitted sheet covering a stain. Not a mattress pad like you would expect but one that's about 2'x3' that nursing homes put under incontinent patients. The freezer portion of the refrigerator had ice built up - which would not have been a big deal but a soda had exploded and it was all in the ice. Called and asked to have it replaced, which they did. The replacement fridge did not work and had mildew. They got 2 stars bc the staff was extremely nice and helpful. read more

This hotel has an amazing location, but falls short in most other categories. When I decided that I wanted to have a gulf coast vacation, I knew that I wanted a hotel by the beach. Everything in Gulfport is actually located across the highway from the beach, but staying on some side street, or near the airport wouldn't cut it. I scoured the internet, and the Courtyard seemed like the best location. I booked two nights and arrived on Saturday morning. The Good Despite being a holiday weekend, I was allowed to check in several hours early. The location is literally across the roadway from the beach. Crossing the highway can be a bit precarious with traffic, but a nearby red signal light helps regulate the flow. The Bad My room was located on the ground floor facing the gulf. Because it was a ground level room, we couldn't really see the gulf despite this being a "gulf view" room. Considering we paid extra for that feature, it was a little disappointing. The other issue with the ground level room was that it faced the parking lot. It was impossible to open the blinds without people staring into the room when they walked to or from their car. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. There was some sort of motion sensor on the thermostat that shut off the air whenever you left the room. That may be fine in the winter, but the Mississippi summer made the room quite unbearable. The small wall mounted a/c was not very efficient at cooling once we were back in the room so for most of the trip we were sweating. Considering that I stayed over a holiday weekend, the hotel was at capacity. Because the hotel was so full, the pool was packed, the restaurant was packed (review forthcoming), and calls to the desk were occasionally ignored. I would have thought the hotel would have had extra staff to deal with the crowd, but they were woefully unprepared. The hotel was not a good value. I paid somewhere between $169 and $189 per night for my room. I can stay in a four star hotel in downtown New Orleans for less than that. Yes I realized what the price was before hand, but I expected a better value. I was so frustrated with my stay that I felt like I had been cheated out of over $400 (with tax and fees) when I checked out. In summary, this hotel is very convenient to the beach, but I would look elsewhere. read more

Difficult parking. Initially sent to wrong room with someone else in it. When we got to our room, there was a random sheet of paper in there. However, once these things were taken care of, the stay was smooth sailing. The beds are large. It's right across the street from the beach and a jetski rental company. The breakfast was eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, fruit, muffins, etc. You had to pay extra for the healthy stuff like yogurt which was weird. There is an alcohol bar where they also have Starbucks. The guy who works there is very friendly. The rooms are clean and spacious. We got one with an ocean view. The lobby downstairs is futuristic looking. There's a small store for snacks and toiletries. The cafe in the morning was a great option for a coffee before checkout. The beds and room was clean and taken care of. I was really impressed with the service and how nice the staff was.
