Was heading out to Nac for family day at SFA and almost every hotel in the area was sold out of rooms. I managed to get one here for a bit more than I would have liked to spend, but the hotel was nice, the room was clean, and the limited staff I came in contact with were all lovely. When I arrived around 4pm, the woman at the front desk was unfortunately letting the customer in front of me know that their room was not ready, as a large football team had stayed the night before and left late, leaving their cleaning crew scrambling to get rooms cleaned for the new influx of SFA family members. She was very apologetic. I assumed that meant my room would also be delayed, but when she asked my name, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my room was actually ready. My guess is that the other couple likely requested a king room, whereas I had opted for double queen room so my kiddo could get a break from her dorm for one night. As I mentioned, the room was very nice and clean as were the public areas. Even the cleaning lady I walked past to get to my room was very friendly. If you're ok with the price, I'd highly recommend this location. read more

First and foremost, I know there aren't many hotel options in Lufkin, and this hotel looked really nice in the pictures. Unfortunately, my experience after actually arriving was very different. I traveled to Lufkin for work and chose to stay here because of how close the hotel was to my work location. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the hotel staff, who were absolutely phenomenal and very kind. Honestly, the staff is what makes this review so disheartening to write. My first room had baby roaches in it, and to be clear, I did not have any open snacks or food in the room. On days two and three, I continued coming back to ants in the sink, which was already frustrating. However, the worst part was waking up to roaches in the bed. I even left one of the roaches underneath a cup so the staff could see it. When the room was cleaned, the towels were replaced, but the roach was still there underneath the cup. I checked out on Friday and returned on Sunday, when I was placed in a different room. Thankfully, I did not experience any pest issues in the new room, but I did have another concern the door did not lock properly. Another disappointment was the pool. We were really looking forward to spending some time by the pool after work, but it was green and clearly not usable. That would have made the work trip much more enjoyable. Again, I truly want to acknowledge how wonderful and helpful the staff members were throughout my stay. They were the highlight of the experience. However, because of the roaches, ants, bed issue, door not locking, and the condition of the pool, I unfortunately do not see myself returning in the future. read more

I get it... sometimes you just have a bad day. Once I got to the room, it was awful. If you know the bathroom door won't shut... get it fixed! If the shower is full of back mildew... clean it! Arriving to my room I see the door is open with the deadbolt out and was difficult to fix. I asked the front desk why was my door open and was told it's for housekeeping checks. Plus the doorframe and locks look like they have been jimmied at somepoint. Service at the little restaurant/was average. Rooms were clean. read more

We are usually fans of Courtyard Marriott but this one left a lot to be desired. It had a surface remodel but that was basically put right on top of an older hotel. First our Bathroom door wouldn't shut. The door was too big for the frame. As we've actually experience in a lot of other Marriotts that are older the sink is so far back on the counter I basically have to lean over and throw the water at my face to wash it, then it gets water all over the counter it's actually pretty comical. Overall it suited our purposes for a quick overnight here for family but other than that it wasn't our best Marriott stay. I will say all though it wasn't our worst. It wasn't 1 star but not sure I could give it more than 3 stars although it's likely more like a 2.5 The other thing is we got a room right next to the elevator and the walls at so thin here you can hear every footstep and ever single ding. I'm a light sleeper and so it didn't particularly makes for a nice night of sleep. You can also hear every single creak in this hotel, probably because it is rather old in death the lipstick they slathered on it. I will give it this, it was clean, and the beds were fairly comfortable but the pillows were horrible (but we've experienced bad pillows at almost every courtyard so this is probably a corporate thing.) read more

BE WARNED! The reviews that are here that are anywhere above 2-3 stars are probably from years ago. This hotel is a nightmare. Evidently there was a recent remodel and when you walk in, it looks nice and like any Courtyard. However, once you start to peel back the layers there are issues galore. Let me preface to say that I am a lifetime high status member with Marriott. So I've stayed in a LOT of hotels. Went to men's restroom and neither of the sinks worked. Gross. Checked into my room and everything seemed fine. The AC rattled but hey that will help get me asleep. Went to turn on TV and just black screen. Ok, I'll call front desk for help. Oops, no phone in the room. So I went down and voiced my concern and displeasure. Over the next 30 min, two maintenance men in my room working on TV. Both very nice gentlemen. They get it working but everything g is in standard definition and no HD (it's 2023 and for $150/night should have at least high def right?!). Well then about an hour later, a phone starts ringing... what!?!?! There's no phone in the room. Well I found it as someone had tucked it away in a drawer. I answered and it was someone calling to book a reservation. WtF?! I told him I was just someone staying for the night and he dialed a room not the hotel. Hung up and phone rang again. Ugh. Same guy and he called a different number. Lady at the front said this has been an issue and phone company can't figure out why the phone forwards to a room which is the one I'm assigned to. Of course it is.... Hmmm. Thought here, stop using this room til you figure it out or don't forward the phones when you aren't at the front desk. Sheesh! Well bc of my issues they comped my room and gave me bonus points which is great. The staff are very nice and I felt bad for them bc of how frustrated I was. They said there are lots of issues that need to be resolved. The next day in the gym I wa VERY disappointed. The cardio equipment is home gym quality and not professional quality which is needed in a hotel bc of the wear and tear/use. The pics posted on here DO NOT reflect what the gym looks like. There is a Nordic track tread and bike and some free weights. I got on treadmill to do my daily run and nearly threw out my back bc the tread is a mess and the machine suddenly stopped on me. Very dangerous and could have resulted in injury. I let staff know they need to tell folks not to use it. Yikes! I won't be staying here anymore that's for sure. I get that it is Lufkin but it is evident this used to be a nice place based on previous reviews. They have a lot of work to do to get back to that place. read more

I recently had the misfortune of staying at the Courtyard Marriott, and it was an utterly appalling experience. Upon entering my room, I was immediately overwhelmed by a pervasive moldy odor that was both nauseating and alarming. To make matters worse, I discovered visible mold in the bathroom, which is completely unacceptable for any establishment, let alone a hotel. There was also a long hair from a previous guest in the shower in a highly visible location - I'm honestly not sure how house keeping missed it. The shower is in such a state I'd feel cleaner without taking one. The furniture was not only unstable but also appeared poorly maintained. The bed was an exercise in frustration, squeaking incessantly with every movement, thanks to its obviously damaged springs. It felt as though I was laying on a relic rather than a proper mattress. The overall ambiance of the room was unsettling and left me feeling grossed out rather than comfortable. I am deeply disappointed with the state of this establishment. This experience does not reflect the standards one expects from a Marriott property. I strongly advise potential guests to seek accommodations elsewhere. Not to mention the $190 dollar a night price which is irrelevant to me because I'm here on business. And if that wasn't the case I would have definitely left and sought accommodations elsewhere. read more

This is the absolute WORST Marriott I've be stayed in. I'm a Titanium member. Stayed in Marriotts all over the world. I can't believe this place is allowed to keep the Marriott name. Smells musty, carpet is stained in halls and rooms. Humidity so thick it's wet. Floors on my floor were warped! Felt like walking down a Forest path instead of a hallway. Come on Marriott. I am not a huge fan of Courtyard's but this was the worse Marriott property I have ever been to. Even the lower end brands in the Marriott family are better than this property. They do not upkeep it at all. Tiles cracked, mold in showers, rude staff, bugs in my bathroom, the wall is water logged by the ice maker on the 3rd floor -- imagine the mold in the wall. It is HORRIBLE. I have never stayed at a Motel 6 but I imagine it has to be better than this place. NEVER EVER EVER STAY HERE!!! We have pictures of it all. read more

Do not stay here! The hotel is literally splitting apart. The third and fourth floor have huge cracks running down the hallway floor under the carpet. There are rooms where the doors are not square with the framing and can't close. Hotel staff told us front of hotel is sinking into the ground. I stayed here with a large group for a family event in Lufkin and we all were horrified at the structural issues with the building. In addition to that the rooms were "meh" and rundown. Our bathroom sink was completely clogged but I didn't even bother to tell staff as it seems they need to be more concerned with keeping the hotel from falling apart. Would never stay here again. Marriott you need to do something here. read more

Unfortunately, due to the popularity of this hotel, their rates have increased to the point that our corporate travel office has decided we can no longer book this hotel. They have moved us down the street to the Hampton Inn because of the cost savings. When I looked into it I realized that the Hampton Inn was $40 to $50 less per night for a king size bed. I understand why they did it. All of my previous reviews about this hotel are still true. I am switching only because I have been instructed to due to cost. read more

Room was fine, staff was friendly enough. The thing I have a problem with was someone else booked the room for me for a business trip and the room was to be charged to that person's card. I gave my card for incidentals (or so I thought) and they charged my personal card for the room. Ok, people make mistakes... I call today and it will take up to 15 DAYS to get my money back. Are you kidding? You sure took it in a hurry, now I'm out hundreds of dollars for up to 2 weeks because of your mistake? I asked for a confirmation email that the refund had been initiated, and the employee I spoke with seemed like she was so put out by my request. All she sent me was proof of the original charge. The Marriott Courtyard Hotel in Lufkin is probably the best hotel in Lufkin...In fact, its probably the best hotel between Houston and Tyler. The rooms nicely decorated and well maintained, bathrooms are bright and clean and in good repair, and modern amenities not only in the rooms but throughout the hotel. There is an indoor pool and sauna as well as an exercise facility. I stay at this Hotel at least once a month and the exercise equipment and pool are always in good, clean condition. This hotel is rather new (2009) but so far it appears the franchisee is doing regular cleaning and routine maintenance of rooms and public areas. The hotel is close to many restaurants and Walmart & Sams, and only minutes away from Angelina Jr. College. The property and parking lot are surrounded by a high wooden fence, and is very well lit at night, so it has a very secure feeling. Regular Wifi is free, but there is an option to pay for "Premium High Speed" Wifi. I haven't really noticed any difference between the "Free" and "Pay" versions. The on-site restaurant, "The Bistro" has limited food offerings -- mostly sandwiches and salads -- and is only open for breakfast and dinner. The restaurant sports a full-service bar (liquor, beer and wine). With so many nearby restaurants, however, I rarely eat at "The Bistro". read more

We stayed here last year & had a couple of issues but resolved. We are Bonvoy members & my husband hunts so we went again this year as it's the only Marriott property in the area. No complaints about the hotel. However on two separate occasions this month they have put pending charges on our credit card (1) we were not even there at the hotel (2) they did not have our permission (3) they did nit have our credit card info!!!! On the first occasion ( 11/11/2023 in 11/14/2022 out)they denied doing it (I have a pic from my card). I totally got the run around. I had to let them scan my card and war assured no other charges would be pended! They then pended $50.00 & it should have not been pended. The correct amount should have been $40.00 but they assured nothing would be posted!!!! This past weekend we had reservations but I cancelled them on November 13th. Yet they pended $50.00 on my credit card. (1) I was nowhere near the hotel (2) they did not gave my card (3) they surely did not have my permission!!!! This is disturbing on many levels !! They gave me points the first time, but skirted around and danced around any sort of explanation of how they got my info or why they thought that they could get by with this. The second time which was just this past weekend I've left three messages and nobody will return my call. I have also sent an email and no response. Again, disturbing on so many levels!! One of the most disturbing things is, no one will talk to me and give me any kind of answer other than "I don't know I don't know I don't know": I would think it's illegal to do things like this!! read more

We stayed here for 4 days while my husband was working in the area we really enjoyed our stay, it is clean and quiet the beds are comfortable the internet is great it is also in a great location near restaurants and shopping, there is a Starbucks in the lobby which makes great coffee and the staff is friendly, I would definitely stay here again. read more

Wow. This is wayyyy too upscale for Lufkin. Ultra-chic, ultra-hip. Meet the new trendy-but-comfy hotel in town, and I have to say, the sexiest and coolest Courtyard I've ever stayed in. The decor and architecture is stunning beginning in the lobby. "Ultramodern" is the only way I can describe it. To the right of the two check-in "pods" is the "market," where you can buy food and beverages; behind you is the "bistro" where you can enjoy a happy hour or a breakfast. The rooms are just as cool. From the Asian-inspired lamps, plants and furniture to the flat-panel TV, I'm most-pleased. One Yelper already remarked on how the TV is placed awkwardly; I have to agree. The desk is to the side of the TV, and the bed is at a sharp 30-degree angle to the TV. The only proper viewing angle is from the sofa. That's just weird. But if that's my only complaint, I know that my stay is going great! This is the ONLY place to stay in Lufkin. read more

They're a little on the small side but you're not spending $200 a night so what can you expect? We were very happy with our stay here. I was in Lufkin for Regional High School Football playoffs Friday night and opted to reserve a room here. Glad I did although I had concerns after reading other reviews. Everything was perfect in my opinion. As a senior citizen traveling alone, the location of my room felt safe and the room and bedding was immaculate. There is a definite deadbolt latch on the door which added to my feeling of safety. Will stay here again if the opportunity presents itself. I'm giving this place 4 stars because it is the cleanest you will find in Lufkin. I stay here when traveling to Lufkin for work and it has been consistently clean. The bed is comfy and the shower is nice and hot. I only have two negatives about this place. 1. Even though there are several restaurants next door you cannot access them easily. You have to go completely around the hotel, catch a busy feeder road and exit to access the parking lot. 2. There isn't much parking. I came back to the hotel at 8:00 pm on a Wednesday evening and had to park all the way behind the building. As a female staying alone I didn't like it. When I left the next morning there were cars parked along the sidewalk presumable because there were no more parking spots later in the evening. The parking and access is an issue for me but not enough to make me find another hotel in Lufkin. read more

Was in Lufkin for business and my sales manager decided to book us some rooms at the Courtyard. Upon arrival, I have to say that I was impressed with the decor here. I wasn't expecting much while coming out to Lufkin, TX, but this is one of the nicer Courtyard's I've been to in a while. The decor here has a sleek modern that you would expect to see from a hotel in downtown LA or NY. The main lobby also houses the restaurant as well has a nice sitting area and business center with flat screen TV playing CNN and other updates. When we got here they didn't have our reservation, but they didn't have a problem getting us our room. The room I got was nice. Again it carried out the nice sleek decor into the room. The room came with a work area and a 32 inch flat screen TV with HD & HBO. The bathroom area is nice with the sink and toilet in the same room. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. It was a little stiff, which was fine with me. The room also offer free WiFi which is nice. If you like to watch TV in bed, the room is set up a bit weird so you don't have a straight on view of the TV. Also, not much of a view here either as I overlooked one of the lower roof's cooling units into a trailer park. But the sound proofing here is excellent. I didn't hear any noise from any of the their guests. I was also able to check out the indoor pool and gym and both were clean and very nice. There is no free breakfast and their little breakfast area was a bit confused. They were already out of about half of everything by 8AM. I did manage to get a breakfast bagel and the food took awhile but it was good. As to rating, yes I would stay here again and while new, I do think at $140 night is a bit out of price for the area but I'm guessing it caters mostly to business travelers who can write off the expense. The loss reservation was also a concern, but they were able to find us rooms so that was fine. The people here are friendly and ready to serve. As to rating, overall, I would stay here again and give this Courtyard by Marriott a solid 3 star rating. read more

You would think since it was 225 a night the stay will be nice and comfortable but this was not the case, first we tried using the restroom after a long car ride to find it was flooded to shit, not one worker had a sign or any knowledge whatsoever of the flood. We didn't think much of it , then when we went to get our things and go up to our room and the key card to the door didn't work either. When we arrived at our room, I was looking to clean up in the shower, I had to use all my strength to open the door to the bathroom. Once I opened the bathroom door I was welcomed with a nice big shit in the toilet ! After my shower I went down to check out the pool with my family, the pool had leaks from the ceiling and maybe 2 lights as well. We wanted to unwind in the hot tub but we come to find out it was already filled with cement !! They tried covering this up with a rug and some chairs. We go back to our room to find some wallpaper had been pealing off next to our beds. This is a terrible place hotel for a ton of money, over priced to shit, DO NOT STAY HERE. read more

No hot water. Made me change rooms three times. I had to ask someone to go up and check the room before I moved the third time. One of the rooms showers would not turn off. The faucet just went round and round and round. Half an apology was provided. Finally got into a room with hot water and there was no Do Not Disturb sign. Went down to the desk (again) and asked for a sign....they didn't have one!?!? So I went to one of the other rooms from before and "stole" it from there. And it's only the first night so far. I was here June 2021, it was bad Our remote didn't work I told the lady down stairs she said ouch the button underneath the tv and see if the remote works Ok it did after that Then, our mini fridge didn't work I went to the ice machine 3 times the first night I took a shower the plug for the shower didn't lift and so it didn't drain and you have to manually hold up the drain I went downstairs in the morning after discovering this and the general manager said I'll send some one up but they won't fix it cause I said I don't want to keep moving rooms So, after I complained someone came and said they were to look at the drain, I said give us 15 minutes we are getting ready She said ok We left for 2 hours Came back our room wasn't cleaned and the drain wasn't fixed At 3 pm we left I went downstairs once again I told the general manager our room still wasn't cleaned we don't know if the drain was addressed she offered us $1.500 snack while they cleaned We said no we were leaving So not acceptable We returned after 6 I told the lady at the table who was really nice we don't blame her but her general manager is horrible She offered to comp us breakfast or lunch I said no we are checking out tomorrow we were only here for my dads funeral service I would never recommend this hotel and this general manager sucked I would give negative stars read more

Beautiful hotel, comfortable beds, professional employees. The problem is the Bistro takes forever (and why isn't there a complimentary breakfast?!?!), even if the food is scrumptious. And the pipes in the bathroom make a horrendous noise that sounds like someone is playing the tuba. Then there was the giant tree roach that we saw in the lobby and the beetle in the bathroom. This hotel has really gone downhill. Stayed here last year and it was in good shape. Stayed last night and the hotel has not been well cared for. Gym has ceiling tiles that are stained and look as if they are ready to fall down. Room I was in the AC didn't work. Room temp was 77 and couldn't get it to cool down. Not sure they have any AC in gym. To be fair I didn't contact the front desk to get someone up to fix during my stay but did tell them as I was leaving. Room carpet had stains. The staff was nice which is why they have. 2. As far as Marriott standards I would have given them a 1/2 to a 1 star. read more

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Lufkin and it was amazing. We were planning on celebrating my father's 90th birthday in Zavalla, but the power was out at the event location. The hotel provided us a meeting room for our party at no charge, helped us with coffee service and even brought him a special dessert. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Our rooms were great and the staff there turned a catastrophe into a wonderful day. Anytime we go to Lufkin we will definitely stay there! read more

This is our family's second stay at this hotel. We've stayed at many Marriott brand hotels in Texas and this hotel is one of the more cozy ones. It is smaller compared to other locations but more than sufficient for all our needs. The beds are comfortable and the staff accommodating. This hotel is in the middle of a remodel. We were very fortunate to get a beautiful room that has been remodeled. The lobby looks beautiful it is very updated. There is a stench in the air of sewage in the lobby and elevator area -- thank goodness the rooms do not smell bad. The employees are amazing !! everyone we have encountered has been very nice and very gracious. But it is hard to get past the sewage smell in the lobby. read more

Super nice place to stay in a reasonably small town, a really nice facility, great accommodating staff but a few minor things keep it from the 5th star. Drove up super nice exterior, clean, new, well appointed, staff was quick to help, check in was a breeze, gentlemen working the front desk was a true professional and exceptionally courteous, my sincere appreciation for his help. Room was excellent, clean new, nice, spacious, well appointed with a iron, ironing board, hair dryer, small kitchenette, all the comforts of home except the TV reception is truly awful do you remember the 70's and 80's with rabbit ears and poor reception, well it's still here and made worse by their super nice HDTV's -- this I don't understand at all, I'd raise cane with my satellite provider if my service was this bad, snowy, some channels not working, etc, truly strange as the wifi and internet service was actually really good, and reliable. Bathroom could have been a smidge cleaner, some stains on the tub, but nothing gross. Tap water in lufkin tastes like well water, maybe a hint of sulfur, I'm probably spoiled on my local water which isn't particularly good either but doesn't have a strange flavor, I don't smell the water when I shower --- not the Hotel's fault. The meeting suites are remarkably good, someone did an amazing job with their setup, this is a big city hotel in a small town.. Indoor pool somewhere too, didn't use it, bar/restaurant is pretty swanky too. All in all aside from the TV reception this place is 5 stars. Nice job Courtyard! read more
