My son and his family have stayed at this property at least three times over the past few years. In every visit, they have been impressed with their accommodations and how they were treated by the staff. Just last week, my son and grandson enjoyed three nights at this Courtyard, and again had nothing but high praise. Marriott standards have gone downhill. Our room had that musty and moldy feel. Not digging the popcorn ceilings. The AC barely worked and when it did it blew out warmish dirty air. The room felt humid and musty. Front desk were two kids with zero customer service skills. Definitely not a welcoming feel. We don't plan to ever come back to this hole. read more

I have been a Marriott Platinum Elite member for over 25 years and have always been loyal to the brand. For a recent event in Escondido, I chose this Courtyard (7 miles away) and booked it using my points. We checked in around 6pm and were greeted warmly by the front desk staff. We dropped our bags and headed to our event. Upon returning around midnight, the issues began. The toilet would not flush unless the handle was held down the entire time. There were only about four tissues left in the dispenser with no replacement. When we turned down the bed, we found three regular pillows and one very small square pillow stuffed into a king-size pillowcase. The mattress was severely concave -- it was obvious this bed should have been replaced years ago. We spent a miserable night trying to sleep in a sagging bed. In the morning, sunlight poured through multiple holes in the blackout curtains. (If we had been on the first floor, this would have been a legitimate safety concern.) The shower dispenser had zero conditioner. The TV remote did not work, so I couldn't even watch the news while getting ready. At checkout around 10am, I politely informed the front desk staff of all these issues and specifically asked to speak with the manager, Ian A. The associate was very nice and assured me that Ian would call me before noon. That call never came. The hotel is located in a beautiful, affluent part of the San Diego suburbs, which made the poor room condition even more disappointing. As a long-time Platinum Elite member, I expect far better than this, especially when paying with hard-earned points. This experience fell well below Marriott standards. read more

I honeslty chose this location becaue of the park behind the hotel for our dog Emi but after staying I would come back. This location is a no frills , no room service, no over the top services as far as spas etc. What is was , it was quite, felt safe, decent rates, clean-to my standards. The hotel food though overpriced was decent when everything else nearby is closed. The coffee was good , I didn't get a chance to do the bar, maybe next time. What I didn't like and it could have been the room we where given, maybe a higher priced room would have been different but the accessible bathroom althougth " accessible" as far as in space wise was not really accessible if I actually was 100% wheelchair bound. One it was ugly, I mean ugly. looked like a restroom at a rest stop. second it had no real vanity, they literraly threw small a$$ table in the bathroom and called it a day. The toliet looked like the ones in my highschool gym. and the mirror couldn't see myself while I was sitted in my wheelchair and the sliding pocket door kept breaking and coming off the railings. Upon check in we were assigned room 339. So we went to the one working elevator. Waited about 6 minutes for it. Got up to the third floor and to room 339. Housekeeping was still cleaning the room. However she was not! She was watching a World Cup soccer game on the TV I got her attention, she looked at me and said in Spanish cinco minutos. We got into our room. Some of the electric outlets dont work. There are 2 USB outlets neither worked. So we got ready to go to our party we came down for and at the elevator, the Housekeeper had her cart in front of it. When the door opened she pushed her cart in, in a way that we could not get on the elevator. The doors closed. Because there is only one elevator we had to wait about 10 minutes for the next one. I really wanted to thank Therese at the front desk. Talk about customer service. As I walked in, I was greeted with a big hello and the check in process was quick and seamless, she explained the parking, the room, the "bistro", etc. Easy peasy, and you can't miss that smile. She seemed like she actually wanted to be at work: As for the double bed room, it was perfect for my son and I. The bed was comfy, the WiFi was fast, AC was cold, and cable tv and large in-room TV worked perfectly. They have shampoo, conditioner, and liquid soap dispensers in the bathroom. We were out here for a 2-day golf tournament at Rancho Bernardo In which was less than a mile away. Phil's BBQ was also less than a mile away. Overall a nice stay for a quick junior golf weekend trip to San Diego! I was also able to late check out at 12pm. read more

We had to vacate our house for three days for fumigation, and I figured, if I have to be out of the house, I should at least relocate to a hotel close to the office. Bonus points that we could hunker down with the dogs, as well. The thing is, this hotel is pet-friendly, but not pet-ready - or pet-welcoming - if you get the difference. Yes, we paid a $150 non-refundable deposit to keep them with us (though the document I signed at check-in said the deposit was $100; I checked with the front desk guy and he confirmed it is $150...maybe they should update their forms...) Yes, we paid more for a ground-floor room to make it easier to get them in and out, and for the pleasure of having an enclosed balcony. But when I say the hotel wasn't pet-ready or welcoming, I mean that there was no outdoor space designated for pet relief. We took them as far from the front doors as we could, but grassy areas on their property were few and far between. And it's a good thing I have extra poopy bags in the car because no pet relief area, no pet relief clean-up. And they didn't even have trash cans in front of the hotel. We ended up using the cans on the neighboring property to drop their used poop bags (though we saw many people just letting their dogs dump and walking away.) The room was at least comfortable and large enough for us to spread out for those three days. My husband was remote that week, so he posted up at their desk, and we rolled the "bonus desk" out for me to work that first day (not ideal, the bed was too high for the desk so I was hunched over for the majority of the day.) The patio was definitely worth it - between being able to get fresh air and having a semi-private space to hang out (there were two chairs and a small table out there), it was nice to have outdoors space when we needed it. The beds were comfortable enough, though their Queen size beds seemed smaller than what I'm used to for some reason. I'm sure that was just my perception. The pillows were hotel pillows - meaning too soft for one but too fluffy for two - but they worked for me. I gotta say, I didn't hate having access to A/C during the heat wave that week. The room had a small fridge, which we used, and a small microwave, which we did not. The bathroom was large and the shower had good water pressure, but it was hard to find the sweet spot in the temperature; it felt like we either got too hot or too cold. Parking is typically $15 a day, but they were running a special when we were there, so the parking was free. The lot is big, if a little run-down. We did park under a tree towards the back on our first night and came back the next morning to a handful of ants tooling around the dashboard. There also isn't any shade to speak of, so if you're there in the summer, be prepared. The WiFi worked well enough, especially the day we were both working remotely, which was something we concerned about (unnecessarily, as it turned out.) Staff was mostly distant, though there was one front desk agent that couldn't stop himself from loving up on the puppies when he saw them. All in all a decent stay that was minutes away from my office, with lots of shopping, dining and coffee options close by. read more

Got there early hoping to check in and get ready for a wedding we were attending in the area. Staff said they couldn't do early check in but if something opened they would let us know. Check in was at 4 but they didn't even start checking in the line of guests until 4:10. We were first in line to check in and they said our room wasn't ready. Wife had to change in their dirty restroom that didn't have paper towels so we could make the wedding. Checked in after the wedding and the room we got was different than what we booked. Then leaving nearly got crushed by their quick closing elevator door. I've stayed at a lot of Marriott's over the years but this one will not be getting my business ever again. read more

The pros: 1) The hotel was quiet - hardly anyone there. Saw maybe 6 people inside the hotel over the 2 days I was there. 2) The restaurant/bar was also empty. Had a burger and a beer while chatting with the bartender - food was OK; Beer was cold. 3) The jacuzzi was hot...and since there was no one there, it was quiet and relaxing. 4) The grounds behind the hotel are nice. 5) Room was clean and spacious. I had one on the 1st floor with a large patio outside. The cons: 1) $15 to park in an empty parking lot in an area that is not downtown or someplace that has limited parking? Come on - this is just a way to make additional money. There's no reason to charge for parking at this location. 2) No water provided in the room or offered at check-in to a Gold member - had to buy water for $5 a bottle at the front desk. 3) ZERO USB ports in the room for charging. It's 2026...every Marriott property I've stayed at in the last few years has multiple USB ports in the room (on the lamps, etc.) to charge phones. Luckily I had my car and could charge things in there. 4) No EV chargers on the property. Luckily, there's an Electrify America station behind BofA down the street. 5) Remote for TV worked intermittently. Maybe it was just weak/dying batteries. Overall, not a bad place to stay, but please update your rooms to include USB ports for phone charging - at least one - and get rid of the parking charge. Put in a couple of Level 2 EV chargers (Chargepoint or other). Offer complimentary water to your Bonvoy members with status. read more

She deserves recognition for how well she treats guests. My room is well maintained and I felt comfortable settling in. The building itself appears a little dated. We had family staying for Thanksgiving and the Courtyard RB had availability. The location is great, close enough to the 15 freeway to hop on and off and drive wherever you need to go but far enough away that there is some tranquility and you are able to relax a bit before feasting with the family. From check-in to checkout the staff was amazing, super friendly and helpful. My 94 year old Grandma was staying and they did their best to get her a ground floor room as close to the front as they could. The rooms were nice and spacious, we had a double queen which overlooked the beautiful duck pond at Webb Park. The hotel also offers fresh coffee, hot cocoa, cookies (PB and chocolate chip) and all the fixings. Both the hotel and staff were super welcoming. read more

Checked in on a whim to escape the summer heat wave since my AC at home decided to crap out and couldn't get a service tech out until today. Long story short... This place fit the bill with air conditioning and comfort. Small enough to easily get in and out of. Parking was ample. It was clean. My son enjoyed their facilities. Not only was I able to get in a workout at their 24 hour gym but also got some pool time. It wasn't too crowded and though you can see the freeway from the room, you couldn't hear any traffic. Kudos to the staff especially Angela, Bobby and Isiah. They provided excellent customer service. Also, the maintenance man, I didn't catch his name is a very hard worker and needed a mention. My two nights here were worth it. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again if needed. If you're looking for a place to stay that's clean and comfortable, this is it. My company held a small event at this location. We had a number of people check in separately who were attending. We were all greeted by, Joe, the front desk guy. He was difficult and my coworkers also thought so. The morning after our arrival when we all get together, everyone had a complaint about Joe and how he handled them at check in. He gave them incorrect information and kept claiming that what he was saying was Marriot policy/protocol. I am a lifelong Platinum member and can tell you what he was telling them about checking in was wrong. Joe couldn't find my reservation at all. I had to make a call to the person that reserved my room. It was late at night. She confirmed that she did reserve my room and after a bit of round and round, he found it. I also got was appeared to be an unfinished room. A wall had been added to the room and was not completely done yet. My tv didn't work either. I felt like Joe put me in the crappy room on purpose. With all of this being said, during our event, June helped us with multiple wifi connection issues. Which were ridiculous. But, despite that, June was really helpful and kept checking in on us and we loved him! Oh! I also threw away my breakfast because the food was slimey looking and tasting and I couldn't deal. So, to the trash it went. Overall, a disappointing stay. I would absolutely NEVER stay at this location ever again. Nor will we ever hold a work event there again. read more

I was reluctant towards booking a room here after reading the reviews, but I did anyway and I'm happy about it. I'm not sure if I got lucky with my room choice or what but it was pleasant. I even had a beautiful view room my room. See photo below (if it loads). I even liked the Feng shui of the room. Bathroom was out of sight. Restroom looked clean. Shower pressure was good. Mini fridge with freezer section and microwave available. Gym was open. Parking was $10. Snacks available for purchase. Two things I didn't appreciate, which is why I chose 4 stars: 1. had to go back down to the lobby a couple times, upon arrival, to get the keys adjusted since they didn't work. Sucks when you have luggages, a stroller, a toddler, and a newborn in hand. Turns out the key reader was low on battery. Had to send maintenance. Good thing is that the guy was quick to arrive. Otherwise I would've been extremely frustrated. 2. Pull out bed/couch had no accessories so we had to go down to the lobby to get blankets, sheets, pillows, the works. Inconvenient but I get it. It'll waste more resources having to wash everything if it wasn't used. And if it was used previously and not washed, that would be gross. So I appreciate that consideration but I wish they would've offered to bring it up for us instead of us having to go down when we've already had our fair share of steps that day. Older hotel with recent updates. We had no serious complaints. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Even the pullout was comfortable. Water was hot and the pressure was good. In-room refrigerator and microwave worked great. WiFi was free and strong. No free breakfast, but free weak coffee was available. Starbuck was on-site for those willing to pay. There was a restaurant on-site serving breakfast, lite lunch, and lite dinner. Large pay parking was available. But I didn't know how much since my oldest daughter was paying for the stay. read more

We are currently waiting for our room that was supposed to be ready at 4pm. At 4:25pm they let us know that it would be an additional 25-30 minutes. I'm traveling with my elderly grandma who has dementia and mobility restrictions. She has been sitting in a hard plastic chair, confused, coping with her pain as we are trying to elevate her legs with our luggage in order to reduce the swelling. Someone could very easily traverse the rooftop and enter the room. I immediately notified the staff and checked out of the room. I was told that my reservation was canceled. At which point the manager called me not to apologize but to remind me that the room was prepaid. An absolutely atrocious response and a huge potential liability. He also mentioned that Marriott has big corporate attorneys. He doesn't realize what I do for a living. If God forbid something happened to my family, Marriott would have 8 figure exposure. This hotel was ok. We usually stay at the marina (downtown) but I wanted to save some money and we had something to do in Ramona so this hotel seemed like a happy medium. The location is great. Pretty much a 30 min drive to anywhere else in SD area. It's right off the freeway, which makes it super convenient to get to. I didn't have a problem with the freeway noise at all. The pond in the back is freaking cute and there are PLENTY of nice restaurants within walking distance. The hotel itself shows it's age but is pretty clean and well kept. Most of the staff was great, greeting us when entering and exiting and helping when we needed it. There was one person who shouldn't have a job as a front desk person (and she was there most of the time) but I just avoided her. The bell carts lined out front are super convenient. The bistro was closed the entire time we stayed so I can't say anything about it. One of the biggest drawbacks was the $10/day parking fee. There should not be one. AT ALL! We should have told them we didn't have a car and parked in the business parking lot behind the hotel (on the other side of the pond). Oh well. read more

We had issues with the shower head and water pressure but it was manageable. Not sure if it was the water or bedding/laundry detergent used but our daughter woke up with a body rash so were not sure what exactly triggered it but she didn't eat anything out of the ordinary so we're still Puzzled over that but overall our stay was nice. read more

We have stayed at this hotel several times for hockey tournaments in the area. It is just a few freeway exits away from both ice and inline hockey rinks, so it is conveniently located. There are also a variety of shops and restaurants nearby, including a grocery store. The hotel is located at the end of a street, so it is pretty quiet. On one side there is a pond and we often see ducks nesting. It is a great view and a nice area to walk and unwind. The hotel also has a nice, although small, pool area with a spa. The pool has changing colored lights, which makes it fun for the kids in the evenings. Before Covid, there was a cafe/bistro area where you could grab breakfast or drinks, but post-Covid it has been closed or had odd hours so it was not very useful. They offer a grab-and-go option for a quick and easy breakfast, which was a great deal. I'd love to see them keep that as a option even when the bistro reopens. The staff have always been friendly and attentive. Parking can be an issue, especially on tournament weekends when the hotel is at capacity. Otherwise, we have always had a good experience and we will definitely be back when we have future tournaments in the area. read more

The staff was wonderful, friendly, helpful, and perfectly professional while at the same time making me feel very "at home." The stay and the beautiful park and lake filled with ducks and turtles provided a perfect sanctuary for what was a very stressful work trip for me. Also, they allow dogs (for a $100/stay fee) which was also a bonus because I had my 13-year-old Shih Tzu with me. Just an aside, the $100 pet fee did not seem like a big deal because I was there for 10 days but it is pretty steep for just one night. However, if you're aware of it ahead of time and planning for it (I believe this is stated on their website) then it's your choice and for me it was not a problem. Thank you, Courtyard Rancho Bernardo -that was excellent and I will definitely be back. Also want to add that it is walking distance to CVS, Vons, a great kebab place: pretty much an entire shopping area for all your needs. I stayed here for two nights while traveling for work. The room was standard, but I did appreciate the fridge. I woke up to a small ant crawling on my ear around 5 am. I didn't think too much about it and tried to fall back asleep only to have another ant crawling on my arm. Then another on my leg. This forced me to get up and look around. I saw a few ants on the bed and floor. When I investigated further there were hundreds of ants coming in from a crack and had covered the small trash bin. They appeared to be on an empty diet coke bottle. I tried calling the front desk and no one answered. When I was heading out for work, I told the woman at the front desk and she comped me the parking, $30.00 for the ant issue. When I got to work, I was telling my co-worked what had happened and one of them said they had ants inside their room too!!! read more

The TV was broken and there were stains on the walls and bed sheets and when we asked for new bed sheets they never came up.

Stayed here on a busy San Diego weekend when I couldn't find any other reasonably priced Marriotts in San Diego proper or by the coast. When there's high demand (especially in Summer) some Marriott's really jack up the price at some places (as in from $200 to $700!). But I was able to use a reasonable amount of points to stay here so I appreciated that. This area is inland near the 15 freeway, and in a very upscale safe suburban area. Lots of restaurants nearby (sushi, Thai, gastropubs, and even chains like Outback and BJ's). It's only about 20-25 min to Del Mar or other coastal cities. The hotel itself is an older style one, not tall, but wide, but is upgraded on the inside and the rooms appear to have been remodeled (except for the popcorn ceiling). Nothing fancy but very adequate. For example there's no magnifying mirror in the bathroom, and the shower is basic and small (probably not wide enough for a larger person). I'm average size and I kept banging my elbow on the stability bar in the shower. Also there's no fan in the bathroom so it gets fogged up. Water pressure was good and counter space was plentiful. The bed was a little bit hard, but the hotel was very quiet despite there being a kids soccer tournament in town and kids being everywhere. Maybe we just got lucky on that front. Our room faced the back of the property which had a nice serene view of a little park/pond and people feeding the ducks. The front is just a parking lot view. I think they charge for parking because the church across the street gets packed and it was tough getting out of the lot on the same street as the churchgoers, many of whom parked on the little street leading to the hotel. I have no doubt churchgoers would use the Marriott lot otherwise. The charge is only $15 which is minimal compared to most San Diego hotels. Overall a nice stay in an above average Marriott with no frills. read more
