Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! We are Marriott members and decided to give this property a shot. I'll admit, seeing the rating made me a little nervous, but I'm honestly learning that sometimes you just have to experience a place for yourself. I am SO glad we did because we had the BEST time. ROOM 902 -- WOW. We stayed in Room 902, and the second we walked in, I was blown away. The room was immaculate. Everything was incredibly clean, comfortable, and well maintained. But the VIEW?! Absolutely incredible. Our room had floor-to-ceiling windows covering TWO walls, giving us these amazing panoramic views of San Diego and the bay. During the day it was beautiful, but at night it was even better. Being able to sit in our room surrounded by those views made the entire stay feel special. And the bathroom was just as impressive. It was spotless, spacious, beautiful, and incredibly well maintained. I am very particular about hotel cleanliness, especially bathrooms, and ours was immaculate. Honestly, I could have spent half the trip just sitting in Room 902 staring out those windows. THE FIFTH-FLOOR OUTDOOR AREA IS A DESTINATION BY ITSELF. I cannot say enough about the outdoor area. There is an outdoor bar on the fifth floor with probably six to eight fire pits, all surrounded by different types of seating. Some areas have couches, others have deep comfortable chairs, and there are plenty of places to settle in and enjoy the evening. It is absolutely stunning. If the Padres are playing, they have the game on the TVs AND projected onto the wall, so you can see it no matter where you are sitting. The entire setup creates such a fun San Diego atmosphere. One night while we were there, they had live music, and a gentleman named Mike happened to be celebrating his 50th birthday. Happy 50th birthday, Mike! Thanks for the music and the dances! You definitely added to an already fantastic night. AND THE SERVICE... AMAZING. The ladies working outside were phenomenal. They were coming by our table every few minutes to make sure we were taken care of. Was everything okay? Was the food hot enough? Was our drink good? Did everything taste right? Did we need anything else? And it never felt forced or intrusive. It felt like they genuinely cared about whether we were enjoying ourselves. You could tell that if something wasn't right, they wanted the opportunity to make it right. For us, everything was perfect. And that level of service wasn't limited to the outdoor area. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly, welcoming, attentive, and professional. Even the valet team deserves recognition. From arriving at the hotel to coming and going throughout our stay, they were friendly, efficient, and welcoming. Those little interactions matter, and they helped set the tone for the entire experience. That is what stood out most about this property: the people. A hotel can have an amazing location, beautiful views, great rooms, fire pits, food, drinks, and entertainment--but the staff are what determine whether you actually want to come back. Location wise, it is in the heart of downtown. Everything is within walking distance. Immediately outside of the hotel, you can get to the Star of India as well as USS Midway museum. Both are must visit places if you are in downtown SD. Little Italy is also just about a 10-minute walk. It is a great place to visit the farmer's market in the morning and explore the food scene at night. Balboa Park and the SD Zoo are also very close and easily within driving distance. In terms of the hotel itself, we had the fortune of being upgraded for free AND given a free late check-out as well. They do have a balcony with a bar and plenty of seating. The balcony has a killer view. I got quite a bit of work done there every morning and it is a great way to start the day. The room itself is spacious and can fit 3-4 people since the couch can be a pullout. That being said, the couch wasn't that comfortable, but I survived without breaking my back. However, it did take me the first night to get used to. The view from the room is a killer and it's hard to get tired of it. All of their rooms face the ocean, so don't worry when you book, you will get a killer view regardless. Breakfast is complimentary, but their breakfast is very average. It is very hectic in the morning and the food is not the best, but it is included in the hotel. If you get tired of the breakfast here, again Little Italy is within walking distance with much better food options in the morning. They also have a tiny gym. It's got a treadmill and dumbbells. They don't have everything, but the equipment was sufficient for what I needed. Parking here can be quite expensive. I believe it was around $35 or $45 per day. But again, the convenient location of this hotel is hard to beat, so I think the parking price is worth it especially since parking is expensive everywhere in downtown SD and also hard to find. Overall, we had a great stay here. I do wish the breakfast was better for the price we are paying per night at the hotel and I wish their pullout couch was a bit more comfy. However everything being considered, I do highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting downtown SD. The location is just way too convenient.

The housekeeping staff, particularly Maggie, consistently exceeded our expectations. Her attention to detail ensured that our room was immaculately maintained throughout our stay. We ate breakfast at Marina kitchen they have a great breakfast buffet, and the waitresses will take your orders if you order like a omelette or any eggs it would be prepared for your satisfaction and some of the people that waited on us was Kathy and Kara very polite and very helpful. We look forward to seeing our favorite Jonathan. and Maurice. My sister told one of waiters could he go back in the kitchen and tell Maurice and Jonathan that Texas was in the house? It was so funny they knew exactly who she was and Jonathan came out to greet us. Maurice was not at work that day so we saw him the next day when we went down for breakfast. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, and ours offered a wonderful view of the bay and even the ocean beyond, with a clear view of Point Loma. Down below was Roy's Restaurant and the pool area. While our bay view king room did not have a balcony, the window did have the ability to slightly open if we wanted to hear the sounds or get some fresh air. With the window closed, the room was very quiet, so we had no noise issues. We also didn't hear noise from any neighbors, with the exception of the occasional person talking the hall or letting a room door close. Though the beds were not the most comfortable we've ever had, they were comfortable enough for both of us, though the pillows weren't my favorite because they were the kind of feather pillows you need to bunch up so they aren't too thin. They aren't very soft or spongy. Nonetheless, I was able to sleep on them sufficiently well. We can be a little picky about beds and getting good sleep, and we slept fine. Unfortunately, like many hotels, the sink, toilet, and shower/tub are all in one room, making it less convenient for two people to be doing things at the same time, especially since there is only one sink. There was a decent amount of lighting and space for toiletry items. We had no major complaints about the room, but we did have a broken toilet paper fixture in the bathroom on the wall next to the toilet that resulted in the toilet paper falling on the floor several times. Service was super friendly, but it was difficult to reach the front desk at times without a very long wait on the phone. When I called down to request a luggage rack for the room, I was told someone would bring one up, but it never came. I had to walk to the front desk to ask for one, which was later delivered. They do have an automated attendant that lets you request a limited number of items, and I was able to request a robe for my wife that way. While we were there, the elevators were a problem for a lot of people. For part of the time we were there, some in our tower were not working, causing relatively long waits for the remaining elevators and sometimes multiple stops on the way down or up at peak use times. The hotel said they were working on it, and things did seem to improve a little by the time we checked out. The property itself is beautiful and laid out well for its limited space in this part of town. Once inside, and even outside when walking the grounds near the pool, you are in a bit of a protected oasis that doesn't make you feel like you are sandwiched between the bay and the street out front. We ate outside every day with the conference, and the area we were in was super pleasant. There are a number of restaurants on property, but since we were usually eating with the conference, we didn't have time to try any except for the Marketplace. It was very expensive for most items, but the quality was really good, and we never had much of a wait. They serve Starbucks coffee here, but you can probably save a bit of money if you get that (or mobile order) from the on-site Starbucks, which is in a different part of the building. The food served at the conference was of good quality. If you go to many conferences, you'll find it to be competitive with any of the better resorts, though, in my opinion and as one might expect, it doesn't outshine the Ritz-Carlton or certain J.W. Marriott facilities. The food service staff for the conference were excellent, helpful, and fast. The hotel is in a very convenient area downtown on the bay next to the San Diego Convention Center. Traffic in the short distance between here and the freeway can be bad depending on time of day or events happening at either the convention center, downtown, or at Petco Park, where the Padres play, but the distance is short enough for it not to be much of a headache in most cases. I doubt you'll find very many cities with access this easy from the hotel to the airport and all of the local attractions, including, in this case, the Gaslamp District, Little Italy, Coronado, the bayside attractions, Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, and more. Hotel parking is expensive, of course, so if you don't really need a car, I highly recommend using Uber or Lyft or walking to get around to the nearest things. Overall, I would certainly stay here again, and I do highly recommend this hotel if you are attending a conference or vacationing in this part of the city and can afford the price point.

I sat at the bar for over two hours, yet the bartender rarely checked on me, even when my glass was empty. Every time I wanted another drink, I had to wave him over. What was even more surprising was that he couldn't remember my name or room number despite serving me throughout the evening. Great cocktails can make a bar memorable, but great service is what keeps people coming back. The drinks were outstanding. The service and attention to detail were not.

Instead it turned into a mess. I'm a Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholder and booked through The Edit, which is supposed to come with early check-in. When we arrived, we were told the room wasn't ready because the previous guest (an Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts stay) hadn't checked out yet. We got partial access to part of the suite, but didn't get the full room until after 5pm -- over an hour past standard check-in, let alone the early check-in we were promised. So instead of being out exploring San Diego like we'd planned, my brothers spent their first afternoon in California in a half-available suite and waiting around for housekeeping to finish. For a suite-level booking with a confirmed early arrival benefit, that's just not it. The property itself is beautiful and the staff were somewhat apologetic, but "sorry" doesn't give us back the afternoon we lost. If you're booking a suite here and counting on early check-in for a tight schedule, I'd build in a buffer -- it clearly isn't guaranteed even when it's a stated perk of your booking channel.

It was the perfect size suite and loved the fact it had a little bar/kitchen with a refrigerator and sink. It ended up being the best baby bottle station. The hotel is very clean and family friend. I highly recommend staying here with family or even if it's a little get away weekend. I've stayed at a few other hotels in downtown and to be honest this is my favorite. I was debating to book our room at the Pendry and Omni exceeded my expectations. One big tip is, park your car in the parking structure right across. We ended up paying around $20 a night instead of $70 at the hotel.

The valet retrieved a cart for us so we had a super easy time checking in and getting comfortable in our room. (Valet is $70 fyi, somehow we missed the giant sign when checking in) Water bottles were provided, the room was nice and clean and was very inviting. This is the first time I've seen a shower seat available in a hotel and I love that touch. The room was a nice size and had a big window letting in a lot of natural light. In the same respect there was multiple curtains that allowed us to have privacy but still get the light, or to close both and have it nice and dark for sleeping. We chose this hotel because of its location right in gas lamp and walking distance to gallager square where we were attending a concert. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and Petco park steps from the hotel so there's plenty to do in the immediate area. We had considered having breakfast downstairs the next morning but stood for several minutes without being acknowledged at the check in for the restaurant, so opted for elsewhere. I only took one singular picture unfortunately but we had a nice stay overall.

The bathroom was huge in my room, very weird vibe, like felt cabin-like, I don't know how else to explain it, but it was spacious, big countertop by the sink plenty of room to get ready. The coffee bar had an enormous countertop which was great for keeping all of my things, huge mirrors everywhere too. The bed was really comfortable, again great view outside, awesome staff. It was so nice to be able to walk the boardwalk and pop back in here whenever I needed to grab something or use the restroom. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend, I would definitely stay here again. But I probably won't because the cost is INSANE. Sorry but it is. Also housekeeping found my jewelry box loaded with jewelry and returned it to the front desk who subsequently shipped it back to my house for me.
