Loved the location. The room was comfortable with one exception. The pillows could be replaced with something a bit better. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay.

My cottage view, steps front boardwalk.

Best Beachfront property right on the boardwalk!..clean rooms and helpful staff. Parking is so convenient. Definitely coming back on my next weekend trip!

1.) Beach Cottages 2.) On the beach 3.) Oceanfront We stayed in cottage#506. The cottage was complete with a ocean view, one bedroom, full service kitchen, 1 bathroom, dining room and living room. There are many restaurants, bars, a grocery store, shops within walking distance. Garnet is the Main Street, plenty of banks and ATMs. The check-in was easy and staff was helpful. Not all lodging are cottages and oceanfront. Ask for a cottage while checking in for availability.

WOW this was the best experience of 66 yrs . The staff were amazing thank you much !!!! This room was immaculate . The Cottage had everything you need in it , full kitchen ( gas stove) dishes , pans glasses etc. 3 queen size beds (1 a sofa bed ) very comfortable and roomy . Full dining area w/ 6 chairs, a couch set w/ tv , beautiful wooden shutters on the window . Quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in a modern tub with a safety bar to get in and out of the tub. Maid came everyday. One block from the hud of the beaches , quaint shops and eateries in town. I will be back at lease once a year

Local coffee in the room with an incredible view

I loved the location, the convenience and the staff. Just stayed here with a friend, and the property had so much to offer. You can watch the waves from your room or walk out the gate onto the boardwalk. The staff, both the front desk as well as the housekeeping folks, were so helpful and friendly. Having a full kitchen made the trip more affordable because we could shop at the Ralphs across the street instead of eating at restaurants for every meal. Highly recommend the Beach Cottages for anyone wanting a fantastic location and great people working there.

Hair in tub, was not cleaned.

This is the dirtiest room I have ever paid money for, and I don't even have expensive taste. This room wasn't cheap. We stayed in the west wing on the second floor in an accessible room with two queen beds. Upon arrival, there was sand all over the bathroom floor/walls, a piece of plastic trash behind the toilet, and a hair in the bathtub like it hadn't been cleaned. I called the front desk and they said they'd take care of it. When we got back, the sand was swept from the floor but still on the walls, the trash was still behind the toilet, and the hair was still in the tub. You can see the stains on the floor. They don't even bother to mop. The lampshades are stained. There's dust behind the headboards. A crusty stain on the bedskirt. The white towels are marked up. No AC, no heat. No luggage rack so you have to use the tables for suitcases so you can't use the tables as tables. Not even basic amenities. The neighborhood is loud with all the bars, bring ear plugs if you want to sleep. It was hard to fall asleep and I kept waking up. Parking is $15/night even though there are plenty of spaces open. Room total is charged upon check-in, not checkout. That was a first. Water pressure is a joke even by motel standards. It's mostly just too expensive for the hygiene to be this bad.

Ask the Community - The Beach Cottages

    Is there an elevator?

    Yes

Is there an iron and ironing board or steamer available as well as a blow dryer?

Yes, board in in a closet and blow dryer in the bathrooms!

Is it better to be in the first or second row of the beach cottages?

If you are in the beach cottages you won't be able to tell if it's the first or second row. Honestly, either row you can't beat this location. Hope this helps.

Do they have soft beds with memory foam bed toppers? (Need for arthritis)

Beds are comfortable, but not memory foam.

Do we have to pay for parking?

No! Big parking lot for people staying at the cottages. It's great.

    What beach is it on?

We are located in Pacific Beach. Pacific Beach is located north of Mission Beach and south of La Jolla.

Do the kitchens have plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc...?

Yes. They aren't super high quality but adequate for families with kids. They really provide everything you need except the groceries.

    Are they pet-friendly?

No they are not. They have pier dogs but no other pets at allowed.

I am so happy I found this place via AARP! Located in the heart of the Gaslamp District, I had never heard of this hotel prior to searching. Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! One small recommendation for the hotel: provide rooms with a small microwave and mini fridge to reheat leftovers. It all worked out as I gave a homeless guy mine.

He remembered us throughout our weekend, which was a big plus in my book. While the lobby may not be as expansive as some other high-end hotels, my focus wasn't on lounging around there. I get that some reviewers might expect more amenities, but this is Downtown San Diego. The design and structure fit perfectly with the surroundings, and I personally appreciate a place that keeps the riff-raff at bay. Once we checked into our room, I found the space thoughtfully designed, and the staff promptly addressed the minor issues we encountered. Though the hotel doesn't boast a massive pool, located on the 3rd floor, the staff provided excellent food and beverage service. The gym, overlooking the pool, was well-equipped for a proper workout, and I was pleased to find that the equipment was in good condition and saw little use. The hotel's restaurants offered delicious meals, making dining a pleasure. Cathryn, with her crossed key pins, was an outstanding concierge. She provided invaluable advice on local beach spots and dining options. After making a poor Yelp choice, she came to my rescue, finding great restaurants in both the Gaslamp Quarter and Little Italy that suited our specific preferences. One small gripe: We were locked out of our room probably because we requested late check out and tried getting in after 11am (something needs to be done to prevent this, it was annoying). The valet parking was around $70 so we found a parking lot a few blocks away. The walk wasn't bad so a good alternative. The location is close to the convention center and stadium, but if you're not coming to SD for those places, I wouldn't say this is a central location. I booked through Chase Sapphire Reserve The Edit and got the following perks: 1. Upgrade to higher floor room 2. Amenity (a box of chocolates) 3. $100 credit (used on lunch at Provisional Kitchen) 4. $60 breakfast credit (used at Provisional Kitchen) 5. Early check in (got in at 1:30pm); late check out (12:30pm) Honestly a good stay but without those perks, I'd rather book elsewhere not in downtown with options for parking.

Instead of proactively correcting the mistake, I had to spend part of my evening calling the hotel multiple times to get the issue addressed. I eventually spoke with Vee, who handled my call regarding the overcharge. What was most frustrating was that the error was made by the hotel, yet there was little effort to compensate for the inconvenience. As a courtesy, I felt the hotel could have waived the third night's parking charge given the time and effort I had to spend resolving a mistake that wasn't mine. My time is valuable, and having to dedicate part of my evening to fixing a billing error left me feeling that guest satisfaction was not a priority. Beach Village at Hotel del Coronado…read more We recently stayed at Beach Village at Hotel del Coronado and had an amazing experience. Both of our rooms (1103 and 1104) were located in the same oceanfront building and featured incredible beachfront patios with fire pits. Being able to sit outside, listen to the waves, and enjoy the ocean views right from our patio was truly special. The rooms themselves were fantastic. Large French doors opened directly to the patio, allowing the ocean air and sound of the surf to flow into the room. The suite layout worked perfectly for our family, with the ability to separate the bedroom from the main living area. The kids were able to sleep comfortably on the fold-out bed in the main area while mom and dad enjoyed a private bedroom. The bathroom was spacious and luxurious, featuring a double vanity, soaking tub, and separate shower. One room included a full kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave, and two refrigerators, while the other had a more traditional hotel room setup. Both were spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. The Beach Village amenities are excellent. There are multiple pools throughout the property, including a larger main pool with a spa, smaller pools located throughout Beach Village, and an adults-only pool for those looking for a quieter experience. There also appear to be a few standalone hot tubs/jacuzzis around the property. Service throughout our stay was outstanding. Every interaction with staff was positive, and we genuinely have no complaints regarding the level of service we received. We love Coronado and always enjoy visiting. The only disappointment was that the ocean water was closed due to the ongoing Tijuana River contamination issues. Obviously, that is not the hotel's fault. However, large stakeholders such as Hotel del Coronado likely have a stronger voice than individual visitors and residents, and continued advocacy for a permanent solution would benefit everyone who enjoys this beautiful coastline. Even with a few maintenance items noted below, this was still a five-star stay and a place we would happily return to. A few suggestions for management: Room 1104: * Dog hair on some furniture * Dishwasher missing components that secure the racks * Patio electrical outlet cover is loose and missing screws; the plate comes off when opening the cover * Left window does not lock properly * Strong spice/food odor in refrigerator * Could not figure out how to get the surround sound system working Room 1103: * Toilet seat should be replaced with a soft-close seat Overall, Beach Village offers an incredible beachfront experience with beautiful accommodations, excellent service, fantastic amenities, and some of the best oceanfront patios we've ever enjoyed. We look forward to returning.
