    Pay to park
    Art N.

the room was clean and quiet--credit where it's due--but that's where the positives end. I specifically booked this hotel because I needed a quick breakfast before an early departure. What they don't tell you until you arrive is that breakfast on weekends doesn't start until 7am. What kind of hotel caters to travelers but delays breakfast just because it's a weekend? Completely defeats the purpose of my stay. To make matters worse, they charge for parking. So not only did I overpay to leave my car in their lot, I ended up having to spend even more money on food elsewhere because they couldn't be bothered to offer a simple continental breakfast before sunrise. This place if off the beat and path, no reason to change for parking. There was plenty of it! If you're looking for convenience, look elsewhere. This place nickel-and-dimes you, and you get none of the basics in return.

2nd time I stay at this hotel for a work trip. The staff are super friendly and check-in always goes smooth. The room is big and it's a very quiet hotel. The lobby is a great space to hang out with a group or just relax by yourself. Overall great experience!

Absolutely nightmare location for Hampton Inn. Incredibly noisy, children running through halls, pounding on doors. Poor quality breakfast. Surprise $15/day parking fee is crazy. Employees don't care about noise. Just a horrible place to stay. Learn from our dismay and stay somewhere else. Hampton Inn has lost control of this property.

Mini fridge to go with mini sink

Thanks Ivan for the conversation. My first night back in San Diego led me here. I was visiting family but arrived late and wanted to self quarantine because that's the "IN" thing to do nowadays. :/ I like the fact there's no parking fee unlike SFO DoubleTree (I know you read that review) and only one set of elevators (don't remind me) The rooms are comfortable even with the main table in the middle of the room. And of course you can Never go wrong with the mini mini mini fridge. I hate those things. Location is perfect for those that need to get to the freeway fast or if hungry just go across the street to grab food. I highly DON'T recommend D' Soto's (I know you're gonna read that review after this). The reason for this title is Ivan the night manger. I had a pleasant conversation with him about the area and current news. He was very insightful and overall a great conversationalist . Good people work here. Overall four stars. Room is comfortable and people are great. I just don't like the table taking up all the space and that damn mini fridge. Now excuse me, I gotta get ice since I can't put my bottle water in the fridge. :( M

These days, it's more an adult visit when I visit my family living in this area. It's very conveniently located off the I 15. Through the years and this last visit, I find the room to be clean, well- kept and comfortable. They have certainly updated the rooms throughout the years and it is always a pleasant stay. The front desk staff, including the managers are always responsive, polite, and welcoming. I also enjoy the complementary morning breakfast. They still do a good job with providing options for breakfast. I will note that in previous years, they would also include tortillas and they would also include fresh rice, which was really nice because it was culturally sensitive to people's dietary tastes. They do still have waffles that you can make yourself. They usually offer an egg dish, sausage, bacon on some days and some kind of fresh fruit, which I really enjoy that is already cut up such as melon, pineapples, and cantaloupe, all mixed together with grapes. Many days, they'll have American cheese and Swiss cheese and hard boiled eggs, as well as some pastries and bagels, along with English muffins. They have a nice coffee bar, and sometimes they will even offer cold brew. I recommend this Residence Inn location. There is also a gas station nearby and restaurants which makes it very convenient and it's walkable. Just down the road, there's grocery stores, more restaurants, Starbucks. Looking forward to my next stay here.

The room itself appears clean. There was an odd odor in the bathroom sink area but that could have been the cleanser. The bed was super comfortable. So why the three stars instead of 4 or 5you ask ? The toilet bowl had a stain resembling something a human would leave . I think it might be the water but I'm not sure I decided to spare photos. Another stain/ring appeared after being out all day. What really bothered me was I went to make coffee one morning. Luckily, I had the lights on, I filled the reservoir, I noticed flaky pieces of something and an oily residue in the reservoir. The photo doesn't show how gross it was. First thing in morning I was not amused

At the price point we paid and it's location to so many nearby attractions, we will never look further when we have a future staycation in this area. The hotel is in a very quiet area with plenty of parking surrounding the property. The check-in process was easy and the front desk employee (Katherine) went above and beyond to provide us excellent service. She sent a fellow employee to find a ready room closer to the elevator so that my Dad wouldn't have to walk so far. She was also very accommodating and answered all of the questions we sent her way. This is a pet friendly property but you wouldn't realize it. There was no visible smell or damage anywhere. They did have cute tins in the lobby area for cat and dog treats. What a nice touch! The room was spacious and clean. I wish we were staying longer so that we could have taken advantage of the full kitchen area in the room that is stocked with everything you need to make and serve a full meal (minus the food itself). We had a room with two double beds and a pull-out sofa in the living room. The beds were comfortable and my husband didn't complain about the sofa. The rooms had a VCR / DVD player in them so we brought a movie to watch that evening. It was a bonus feature and made for a very relaxing evening! They even provided a bag of popcorn to make in the room (since it came with a microwave too). Breakfast in the morning was decent and what you expect for a hot hotel breakfast. There were a lot of choices and you can definitely get full off the options. The eggs weren't necessarily fresh or real, but there was a waffle maker, pastries, fruit, yogurt, and a coffee / juice bar. There's plenty of seating next to the breakfast bar with a ton of tables for families. We also noticed that they have an evening reception during the week where they serve appetizers and some dinner items, along with some beer and spirits. Although we didn't partake in any of the outdoor activities, they do have a small basketball court and a clean looking pool. The front desk has balls available to borrow. Overall, we had an excellent experience and will be back in the future. Thank you for the wonderful accommodations, Staybridge. See you next time!

Service & Dining: Breakfast at Veranda started off on a bad foot with an unattended host stand, an unwelcoming greeting, and a 20-30 minute wait, forcing us to pivot to the coffee shop. While the coffee shop team was sweet, they were visibly understaffed and running low on basic inventory. Food overall across the property was unimpressive for the price point. Housekeeping: The biggest issue was returning to our room late in the evening after being away for over 10 hours, only to find it hadn't been serviced at all. Management: When we texted about our disappointment, management gave us cold, dismissive, copy-pasted responses rather than taking accountability. To top it off, shortly after giving us canned answers, they sent an automated text begging for a 5-star TripAdvisor review! Verdict: The property itself is lovely, but the level of service, staffing shortages, and indifferent management fall far short of high-end standards. Wouldn't recommend for travelers expecting a reliable, high-touch resort stay.

For a recent event in Escondido, I chose this Courtyard (7 miles away) and booked it using my points. We checked in around 6pm and were greeted warmly by the front desk staff. We dropped our bags and headed to our event. Upon returning around midnight, the issues began. The toilet would not flush unless the handle was held down the entire time. There were only about four tissues left in the dispenser with no replacement. When we turned down the bed, we found three regular pillows and one very small square pillow stuffed into a king-size pillowcase. The mattress was severely concave -- it was obvious this bed should have been replaced years ago. We spent a miserable night trying to sleep in a sagging bed. In the morning, sunlight poured through multiple holes in the blackout curtains. (If we had been on the first floor, this would have been a legitimate safety concern.) The shower dispenser had zero conditioner. The TV remote did not work, so I couldn't even watch the news while getting ready. At checkout around 10am, I politely informed the front desk staff of all these issues and specifically asked to speak with the manager, Ian A. The associate was very nice and assured me that Ian would call me before noon. That call never came. The hotel is located in a beautiful, affluent part of the San Diego suburbs, which made the poor room condition even more disappointing. As a long-time Platinum Elite member, I expect far better than this, especially when paying with hard-earned points. This experience fell well below Marriott standards.

The complimentary breakfast buffet is good with tasty hot dishes provided and an attendant present to care for the buffet. For the most part, the staff is friendly and hospitable. Maria at the front desk smiled and warmly thank me for staying. And this is a pet-friendly property!!! As seasoned travelers, we do not have high expectations or standards when it comes to extended stay properties. These rooms are often used a lot, especially when the travelers are away from home. With that said, there were a few concerns to point out for the property management to take note of. I did inform Maria at the front desk of my concerns. 1) first impressions are lasting and on the evening of our check in, we encountered a sidewalk that was soiled (see photos). There were other sidewalks that had obvious spots where there was spillage or other organic matter; 2) arriving in our room there was a used plastic cutting board in the sink. And behind the Keurig coffee maker a souvenir from the previous guests: a bottle cap; 3) the dishwasher was filthy. When opening the door of the dishwasher, there was a pile of dishwasher soap on the bottom. After running the dishwasher for the first time, the dishwasher soap was not even wet. This indicated that the dishwasher has been inoperative for an extended period of time; 4) the windows to the room were not locked and secured upon arrival; 5) there were trip hazards due to uneven sidewalks (see photos). There are often little ways to impress upon the visitor or guest how you value their business by providing the best experience possible. I'm sure that the business owner will consider how they can improve the experience by caring for even just the basic things, like clean sidewalks. Will we come back? I think we will because this property is nice, just need some TLC. Expectations should commensurate with the value. The property has extreme value because of the cost. Join the Travel Pass program and you can also receive free upgraded WiFi. We actually enjoyed our stay. And we didn't harp on the details and we appreciate this property for what we enjoyed. Another inconvenience was that there isn't an ice machine anywhere on the property. If you need ice, you have to go to the front desk, where they hand you a small amount in a Ziploc bag. My husband wasn't comfortable with that, so he ended up going to a nearby gas station to buy a bag of ice instead. Unfortunately, this was not the clean, comfortable experience we expected for our family vacation. We were so disappointed that we chose to leave after just one night rather than stay for the remainder of our trip.
