Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! One small recommendation for the hotel: provide rooms with a small microwave and mini fridge to reheat leftovers. It all worked out as I gave a homeless guy mine.

The staff is always welcoming, the house keeping staff are friendly and trustworthy, the parking lot is gated and secured by a guard throughout the day, the rooms are always clean the grounds are well maintained, and after all the years of being loyal visitors, we have yet to experience anything negative at this property. I love that the grounds are secure and you can allow your children to go into the courtyard area and play the provided games with peace of mind- knowing that they'll be safe. They provide tons of outdoor seating options and grills for tenants, which makes cooking a breeze. In order to enter from the beach/boardwalk, you must have a room key to enter the premises- another awesome perk. This keeps all the riff-raft out of the area. &At night, they also require a room key to enter through the front of the building- which is a newer feature, and much appreciated. You can leave your beach toys & chairs outside your room without worrying about someone coming to steal it. We have locked our bikes up downstairs in the courtyard area & nobody messes with them. The room had a partial bay view and it was literally walking distance to almost everything in the area. Little Italy, Seaport Village, and downtown San Diego! We were able to enjoy the breakfast buffet served in the morning, which had a nice selection of food and drinks . There's also a couple minimarts and food spots including Starbucks located right outside the hotel. The rooftop pool is so amazing. It's away from all the noise and traffic of downtown San Diego and has a partial view of the bay as well. The harbor and sky restaurant was so convenient for us. We were able to dine in for lunch many times and we truly enjoyed the food and service here! Service here was just beyond amazing and the self parking was extremely convenient and considerably cheaper than most places ($45 per night). Overall, I would definitely recommend this stay!

Our first room was small and the bed was basically down to the springs. It was horrible. The beds are soft and springy so just be aware of that if you're used to firmer beds. They also gave us firmer pillows (non down) which was great. Bell hops are friendly! Valet was quick and easy, but super pricey at $70/night. Having a coffee shop, restaurant and bar onsite was great. Depending on the location of your room, it can be loud all night! We were facing the convention center and you can hear the trains go by, which was fine. But our first night (with the bad bed) was facing a parking lot and it was like a party was right outside our window till 2am. Overall, good stay. Remodel makes it look new, though tubs show wear.

I was given up upgrade due to my status and I was very happy with it. I was given the 11th floor and was all the way at the end. I like that because it's less nice and people walking down the hall. The fridge was an old school style fridge I love it!!! The room was perfect and very clean. The view was great as well. For sleeping it was one of the quietest hotels I've ever been in. For something that is downtown that is saying something. I could not hear a single thing at night. They must have solid 10 foot concrete walls. The AC panel is great and easy to program if you like constant AC for sleeping and to block out any outside noise. And for me there was no noise whatsoever no neighbor noise and no noise from outside. I loved the rooftop bar you can see Petco park from there and the drinks are very good! The entire property is top shelf and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I can't wait to book my next staycation here.

They told me about some happy hour they were having later in the day and I felt very welcome here unlike other hotels I stayed at in the San Diego area. The bathroom was huge in my room, very weird vibe, like felt cabin-like, I don't know how else to explain it, but it was spacious, big countertop by the sink plenty of room to get ready. The coffee bar had an enormous countertop which was great for keeping all of my things, huge mirrors everywhere too. The bed was really comfortable, again great view outside, awesome staff. It was so nice to be able to walk the boardwalk and pop back in here whenever I needed to grab something or use the restroom. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend, I would definitely stay here again. But I probably won't because the cost is INSANE. Sorry but it is. Also housekeeping found my jewelry box loaded with jewelry and returned it to the front desk who subsequently shipped it back to my house for me. Absolutely Wonderful Anniversary Getaway at the Hotel del Coronado…read more My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary with a beautiful weekend stay at the iconic Hotel del Coronado in a King Room with an Oceanview Balcony. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel special. The two young ladies who checked us in were an absolute delight. They looked like sisters but are actually best friends, and their genuine warmth and kindness made the start of our stay so memorable. The concierge was equally fantastic, ensuring our bags were delivered quickly and that we were comfortably settled in our room. The property itself is breathtaking...! The meticulously maintained gardens and stunning California coastal location provided the perfect romantic setting. We enjoyed outstanding fine dining experiences at both Nobu del Coronado and Seréa. What truly touched us was returning to our room to find a thoughtful happy anniversary card and a small box of delicious chocolates from the front desk team. It was such a sweet and personal touch. We were genuinely sad to leave and will absolutely be returning. Thank you to the entire team at the Hotel del Coronado for making our anniversary weekend so special!

We treated ourselves to one night at The Del as a special…read moretreat, and we can honestly say that it wasn't worth it because the vast majority of what you experience at the hotel is also widely available to the public--so you better love crowds. We booked the most inexpensive room (at almost $800/night), which means that we were relegated to the euphemistically-named "The Views," which is the back building with ZERO "views," and is essentially like one step up from a glorified Holiday Inn. The room is beyond basic, the bathroom is tiny, and they don't even give you little extras to make it feel somewhat special. Maybe if we had gone for the almost $2,000 a night room we would have felt like we arrived, but not in the slums of "The Views." Even as a guest, you get no discounted rate for the activities the hotel offers, like the tour and the movie night on the beach. Of the 90- minute tour, only 20-30 minutes were in the actual hotel itself. Our guide was very sweet and knowledgable, but it was way too long, and they probably only have it that long to justify the cost. The movie night on the beach was another overpriced scam, where you are on chairs surrounded by fire pits (we chose not to upgrade to the $400 "s'mores option"), so you leave smelling like burnt ends. At least our daughter had a good time. Basically, the only "exclusive" thing we did was take our daughter to the pool, which did not even have a lifeguard!!! Which is outrageous. We had the pleasure of ordering a $23 cocktail and $14 beer there though. So, all in all, stay in a "regular" hotel and then just come and enjoy The Del like the rest of the swarming packs of people that are equally welcome to descend on the property. Do not eat here! The food is overpriced and terrible (see our previous review for Serea). Listen, they did a great job with the restoration, and this place is an institution, but you don't need to shell out thousands of dollars to "enjoy" it.
