Fresh clean modern decor with beautiful views of the bay from room, restaurants, pool, terrace and lobby. Everything clean and well appointed. Staff was so friendly and most helpful. It's a great location for a hotel. Located across the street from the Aircraft carrier Midway and a few minute walk to Seaport Village. A quick Uber ride to little Italy and many other fun activities. Enjoyed the stay.

The hotel is in downtown with amazing oceanfront views of USS Midway and cruise ships. We were very grateful it is within walking distance to USS Midway since we went there twice. The pool is small and very shallow at only 3ft deep so it's more of a wading pool. The view from the pool deck is spectacular. The gym has amazing views and a spin class room. Overall it was a pleasant stay but they do charge $50/night for parking and $50/night for amenities fee so all the fees can add up. There isn't much going on at night immediately surrounding the hotel.

Attended a professional conference at the Intercontinental recently. Great conference facilities. Very comfortable with that ample seating. Conference rooms and restrooms near conference rooms were impeccably clean. During break very good hors d'oeuvres were served along with coffee, tea and various soft drink drinks.

I stayed here bc I had a free weekend night stay via my Ambassador status w/ IHG. The property had some positives & negatives: Positives: On waterfront w/ great view from the top 18th Floor; Destiny checked in with me after check in to make sure everything was okay; Garrett, the bartender at the Layover bar at the pool was super cool; Eman, the bartender at Vistal on property was very friendly; Maritza in the lounge took great care of us. We found out she spent some time on Lāna'i, so we appreciated the Aloha. The lounge patio was a nice place to hang out after dinner; Negatives: I'm still trying to figure out what I receive for my high level status. The message said Welcome Amenity and room upgrade. The only amenity we received was some small cold drink and a towel. The room was not upgraded; $66 valet fee; The free weekend room was $50 more vs booking a regular Club Lounge access room. I already paid $225 for the Ambassador membership that includes a free night. There should be better disclosure that a free weekend room costs more, so that the customer knows the full cost of a "free" weekend night; Annoying electronic music nearby that started in the day on Sat, and carried on until late Sat night. Overall a positive stay bc of the good service. But as an aside re: IHG, I had a qualifying stay earlier in the year. However, I was not granted a free night bc I did not book the stay "properly", according to the property. I called IHG's Ambassador Hotline and they were supposed to respond re: the foregoing within 72 hours: No return call. I call the Hotline again to obtain a refund. I never received a return call again. I know I will not renew my Ambassador membership, bc I was lied to by a representative at IHG about how to redeem the free night. However, I am sitting on the fence whether I will stay at IHG properties going forward. Redeeming rewards requires much more effort vs the competition, and IHG does not give full disclosure vs Marriott, Hyatt & Hilton.

We had a little staycation here for to celebrate our wedding anniversary! Parking overnight was a bit steep, but that is normal for hotel stays. We didn't really have a chance to use any of the amenities, like the gym or pool. Our room was the perfect temperature and bed was pretty comfortable. A few days prior we also came here for the 4th of July Red, White, and Boom event. It was an all you can eat spread with tomahawk steak, sliders, and more! It was the perfect spot to watch the fireworks!

I've always stayed at the Residence Inn across the way and have always been curious what the Intercontinental is like. It is sad to report that this will be my first and last time staying in this hotel. The good: lots of parking, good location, clean bed and sheets, close to restaurants, and pet-friendly. The bad: parking is expensive, the elevator layout is weird, one of the nightstand plugs did not work (there are about 3/4 plugs per stand), the TV stopped working and kept having a "rebooting" message, you can't use the refrigerator because it's packed with drinks that you have to pay for, the front desk phone number is dead at certain times in the evening, probably because when I checked in, the front desk employee was watching videos on his phone, etc. Let's say there were more cons than pros. I was there for only a couple of days, and thank God it was only a couple of days. On a good note, we saw fireworks since it was Labor Day weekend. If you don't want all the hidden or sneaky extra charges go to the Residence Inn across the way. 100 times better!

Downgrading my review to 1 Corporate replied to my email on Day 1, promising someone would "make things right." During my entire 3D/2N stay, no one ever contacted me. At checkout, I got explicit confirmation: my room was a Classic. So instead of the guaranteed Ambassador upgrade, I was actually downgraded from what I booked - a Premium. Compensation? Just 10K points. That's what InterCon usually give when there's no upgrade - but I was ALSO downgraded. How does that make sense? And Noah at the Front Desk - calling you out. If you're new, fine, but why were you handling the Ambassador check-in desk? Lessons learned: I guess I have to switch loyalties whenever I am in San Diego.

We arrived the lobby of this property before regular check in time, shortly after we landed in San Diego. Thanks to our ambassadors status, our room was ready for us ahead of time. We then proceeded to enjoy our lunch on the terrace. We ordered rock fish tacos, tuna tostadas, guacamole, and flatbread. All the items, including those from the happy hour menu (available starting at 1pm), were fantastic. The overall hotel was modern and clean. We enjoyed the spacious and comfortable room. As a runner, I appreciated the spacious fitness center with multiple foam rollers and fresh fruits. The staff was friendly and helpful, ensuring that we have a pleasant stay.

This InterContinental has easily been one of the best hotel experiences I've had in San Diego. The property itself is beautiful, but what truly sets it apart is the people. Aiko, Maria, Dee, Michael Chacon, and Eddie delivered service at an expert level professional, attentive, and genuinely above and beyond. From the moment I arrived, this team made me feel welcomed, valued, and taken care of. Every interaction was smooth, thoughtful, and handled with precision. They didn't just do their jobs they elevated the entire experience. Because of them, my time here has been amazing and honestly the best stay I've had in San Diego so far. This is what world-class hospitality looks like. Huge credit to this team for making it unforgettable.

The hotel is located near the USS Midway museum. Our stay over the weekend was nice mini vacation from OC. The hotel was decorated nicely for the holidays. The staff was friendly and helpful in explaining the accommodations and services available. We had a good time using the amenities at the hotel like the fitness center and patio restaurant and bar.

We stayed at Intercontinental San Diego in December and are still talking about the wonderful service and spectacular views from our guest room. In/out parking was very convenient and the proximity to SS Midway was ideal! I've been in the hospitality industry for decades and RECOMMEND this beautiful and well managed hotel.

We have mixed feelings about this hotel. Context: We stayed here for 4D/3N. We got upgraded to a harbor view room from a standard king room with our platinum elite status. We also booked the hotel through Chase's hotel luxury program where we are given $100 credit that can be spent for parking, food, basically anything. Good things: - The room was clean, bed and blanket were very comfortable. - We loved the floor to ceiling windows and the view of the harbor and airport. The lounge chair was also very comfy to sit in. - The check-in (Marie) and check-out (Riley) employees were incredibly nice and helpful. - We got lunch at Vistal. We sat down at 12:30 and they said they could give us the happy hour prices which typically start at 1pm. So that was very nice. The food was also very good. We got the fish tacos, guacamole, and tuna tostada. Service during lunch was 5/5, super attentive staff to our requests and regularly checked in on how we were doing. Bad: - Breakfast is NOT WORTH IT. For 2 people at Vistal, it ended up being close to $100 ($39/per person + tax + 18% service charge). The food was nothing special. The typical breakfast buffet items you would get (for free) at other hotels. Quality of food was pretty bad for the price you're paying. The fresh fruit tasted like it was slimy and old. There was not a lot of dietary restriction signage and our server was not attentive at all. He missed our orange juice and didn't check in on us at all. It was very hard to flag him down when it wasn't even that busy. It felt like he was purposefully ignoring us. For the default 18% service charge where you'd have to go out your way to ask for a new check without the service charge on it, they definitely need better service. - You get complimentary water in your room every day. Since we didn't get housekeeping, we texted them to get our waters. When we received them, there was literally a piece of chewed up gum stuck to the bottle they gave us. Unacceptable and disgusting. - We had a car with us and it was $46 per night. Quite expensive but comparable to other hotels in downtown SD. We hoped to use the $100 Chase credit toward parking but was surprised during checkout when our Chase credit was used first for breakfast/lunch before the $23 daily amenity fee credit was applied. So sneaky and left us feeling very deceived. Riley who helped us check out was very nice though. He walked us through the bill and helped resolve the bill to what we had originally thought we would be paying. IHG should really make it more transparent which credits will be used in what order to customers. - There is no fridge in the room. Only a fridge with drinks that you have to pay for. - No vent in the bathroom besides inside the shower, which doesn't vent the toilet area...

I was here for a conference so didn't stay in a room, but the conference rooms, restaurants and pool deck were all pretty great! Staff was helpful and friendly.

I live locally and will pick up a friend staying there. Is there a driveway in which they can meet me in front?

Nice roundabout valet area to pick up your friend if I recall accurately!

Does the property have a EV charger?

Yes it does inside the parking garage.

I want to avoid the construction view , what side of the building / rooms should i ask for?

The construction is not too bad at this point and the project buildings are enclosed at this point. To completely avoid any construction site views, ask for the North side of the building for your guestroom location

Yes, you can come and go as you wish

Is the pool heated?? Visiting this weekend with my kids. Also hours of pool? How much is bed& breakfast if I wanna add?

The fourth floor rooftop pool is heated to 80-82 degrees year round and has a great view of the harbor. Access is 24/7 with room key. I would not recommend breakfast here, as there are 50+ restaurants within kid-walking distance (0.3 miles). Also… Read more

Is there airport shuttle service and what time available?

No. But there is a city bus (Route 922) that stops right at the hotel and goes to the airport or use rideshare. I've always used that bus and had no problems. And it is just as fast as waiting for rideshare etc

    How much is parking?

    $39/night now

    Is the gym currently open?

Hi Brian, Effective today we have been allowed to open our fitness center with a maximum of 10% capacity, which would allow no more than 8 people at a time in the fitness center.

    Free parking on premises?

Hello! We paid $21 per day for parking. Idk if there tus free parking close by.

Is this hotel ok for children?

Hi Grace, Yes, we do have plenty of families here during the summer time in particular. We have an outdoor pool, Gelato shop and large lawn area in front of the hotel that the kids do enjoy.

I am so happy I found this place via AARP! Located in the heart of the Gaslamp District, I had never heard of this hotel prior to searching. Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! One small recommendation for the hotel: provide rooms with a small microwave and mini fridge to reheat leftovers. It all worked out as I gave a homeless guy mine.

He remembered us throughout our weekend, which was a big plus in my book. While the lobby may not be as expansive as some other high-end hotels, my focus wasn't on lounging around there. I get that some reviewers might expect more amenities, but this is Downtown San Diego. The design and structure fit perfectly with the surroundings, and I personally appreciate a place that keeps the riff-raff at bay. Once we checked into our room, I found the space thoughtfully designed, and the staff promptly addressed the minor issues we encountered. Though the hotel doesn't boast a massive pool, located on the 3rd floor, the staff provided excellent food and beverage service. The gym, overlooking the pool, was well-equipped for a proper workout, and I was pleased to find that the equipment was in good condition and saw little use. While the location is excellent, there were several things that made the stay less enjoyable. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. There isn't an air vent in the living room, so if you have additional guests sleeping on the sofa bed, they receive very little airflow. Most of the cool air stays in the bedroom, especially if the sliding door is closed. Even with the door open, the living room never cooled down enough to be comfortable. Another downside is the bathroom layout. The only bathroom is located inside the bedroom, which means anyone sleeping in the living room has to walk through the bedroom to use it. If you're planning to share the suite with family or friends, this layout isn't very practical. We also ordered room service, and our order was prepared incorrectly. After calling to have it corrected, it took over an hour for them to bring the replacement meal. Since the mistake was on the hotel's end, that wait time was unacceptable. I was also surprised that the hotel doesn't have a small convenience section for snacks, drinks, or forgotten essentials like toothpaste or mouthwash. Instead, you'll need to walk a couple of blocks to a 7-Eleven or CVS to pick up basic items. The best part of this hotel is its location. It's directly next to Petco Park, and there's a bridge that takes you straight to the stadium, making it incredibly convenient for baseball fans and helping you avoid going through the regular lines. Overall, if you're staying specifically to attend a game or concert at Petco Park, the location is great. However, if you're simply looking for a hotel in downtown San Diego, I think there are likely better options that offer more comfort and convenience for the price.

I was given up upgrade due to my status and I was very happy with it. I was given the 11th floor and was all the way at the end. I like that because it's less nice and people walking down the hall. The fridge was an old school style fridge I love it!!! The room was perfect and very clean. The view was great as well. For sleeping it was one of the quietest hotels I've ever been in. For something that is downtown that is saying something. I could not hear a single thing at night. They must have solid 10 foot concrete walls. The AC panel is great and easy to program if you like constant AC for sleeping and to block out any outside noise. And for me there was no noise whatsoever no neighbor noise and no noise from outside. I loved the rooftop bar you can see Petco park from there and the drinks are very good! The entire property is top shelf and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I can't wait to book my next staycation here.

The pros: walking distance to a lot of restaurants, cafes and Petco park. Pretty clean and the staff were friendly. Room was pretty comfortable and the bathroom had a large counter space area. The cons: needed some maintenance, sliding lobby door was very noisy. The handle of the refrigerator was broken in our room. We were initially booked on the 9th floor, the floor connecting to the rooftop bar. We had to ask to switch rooms/floors due to heavy foot traffic on the 9th floor and also due to the noise coming from the next door occupant. There are homeless folks walking around the area so just be aware. There were a few hiccups but overall a comfortable stay.
